Staff friendly & helpful... food ok...

Just enjoyed a great meal at The Bunbury Arms. The carvery was excellent and I particularly liked the quality of the vegetables. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We thought it was very good value

Nice place to spend a while, good food and as always a massive plus no problem parking.

Went with friends for the first time, got taken to our table that was at the back of the pub. It felt like we had been forgotten about, we got there at 7pm, 7:20pm we finally got our drinks and then told we needed to wait for a card to say we could get our roast. That never came so had to ask for it. Food was average, some of it was cold. Had a second but nobody ever come over and asked if we wanted dessert. Not a great experience.

Lovely lively pub. We've popped in twice, just for a drink, whilst passing, and it's got a really welcoming vibe. It seems extremely popular, especially on a Sunday where the carvery offering was in demand. The garden offers great seating and is very pleasant. The personnel are very professional and helpful. I'd recommend you try it, if passing!

Good pub grub. Standard fayre. Service is ok. It was quiet for a Friday evening so not much atmosphere, great if you want to go for a meal and chat.

A charming venue with plenty of room and a fairly extensive menu including a carvery. The staff are very friendly and the prices are fair. My only criticism was my tuna that came with my main meal. It was awfully over cooked and a real shame. I bought this to the attention of the staff but sadly no attrition or any form of material apology. Apart from this I would happily return as everything else was acceptable.

We stopped off here on our way to London as a toilet stop. While there we took advantage of their Thurs carvery offer and all I can say is wow. The food was delicious, the staff were amazing and it had a great atmosphere. I'd recommend this place to any one.

Great carvery good portion sizes were happy to let you pick and choose and have an extra Yorkshire !

Nice decor and seating. Food, we had carvery, very nice but could tell it had been sitting heated a while. Service OK. Nothing fantastic though.

The second occasion at The Bunbury Arms. We had eaten there with friends earlier in the year and were impressed by the carvery (vegetarian option). So I decided to take some other friends there to try it out. Sadly I was a little disappointed. We were booked in for 6:30 pm of a weeknight for the meal (a group of 5 of us). The table was ready and the girl serving was fine. So we ordered a drink and ordered food. One of our party was not having the carvery so we waited till his arrived before going up to grab our food selection. There was no one behind to serve (so if you wanted meat I'm not sure what you would have done,) The vegetarian option (nut cutlet + veggie gravy) was waiting for us. The food was sadly disappointing. It was mostly between tepid and warm so edible but not great. The roast potatoes were dried out (as were the yorkshire puddings) and tough to eat To be fair the vegetables were ok . It felt like the food had been out for a long time. Now, there was a wedding also going on that night so that might explain the lower that expected quality, but who knows. Overall although the service was fine the food let the experience down.

Good quality food reasonably priced

I just call in for a pint of Aspals cider twice a week. Quite expensive for drinks and no one should be spending £5 for G/K IPA.

Mike and the team are amazing. So friendly and so accommodating. It was my Mum’s birthday and we’d been on a very rainy hike. When we arrived they opened the kitchens especially for us and were so amenable. The pizzas are amazing.

I went with my wife as an anniversary treat, we got there and the staff didn't seem interested. There was confusion as to where to seat us and on way to table was told quite rudely that we should've waited at the bar to be seated when in fact we was following a member of staff to the table. When we actually went for the carvery, the food looked good. However when we got back to our table we both noticed the food was cold and the roast potatoes were like cannonballs and was nigh on impossible to cut. We had noticed that where the food counter was that they'd actually left a door open and the wind was blowing in quite strongly. Upon paying, again the bar staff were rude and never asked if everything was ok. In summary. We were both disappointed and will not return. We're supposed to be having a works do there at Christmas, but will be informing them how bad it was!

We went for a meal tonight for my daughter's 17th birthday to be only left disappointed, the service was terrible from go. We was left standing around after asking for a high chair for my 14 month old for over 10 minutes untill I had to go and ask again, we had sat down waiting to be served for over 20 minutes to only watch other people come in and get served straight away and again I had to go and get someone to come serve us. Once we finally had got our orders put in and the food arrived they had gotten my 14 month olds order wrong, I told the waiter it was wrong for him to go and ask my partner if I was right! How disrespectful is that! So the correct order came eventually after my son had to sit there and watch everyone else eat and the chips was absolutely covered in salt! This was a kids meal! Very disappointed with our meal out for our daughters birthday, after the experience we have had we will not be recommending this place to anyone Update - after being invited back to give it another go I can say they turned it around. The staff were very polite and professional, the food was good and the service very timely. I can say after tonight I will be returning back for another meal.

Im afraid our experience wasn't very good ,first visit , a request for some on menu wasn't possible because they didn't have it but the worst was two of our meals were inedible, the service was not very good either waitresses not knowing what the other was doing and jumping on us as soon as we sat down ,the carvery was ok ish ,we didn't do deserts because we didn't want to stay

Wasn't welcomed at door rude staff not a smile in sight not attentive asked for ice water they forgot the and then tutted when asked about not even offer condiments didn't ask if if everything was OK with our meal chicken strips were burnt asked for well done burger but they were pink. glasses wasnt clean won't be going back

Very good service and delicious Calvary.

They are trying to bring a European spin on the carvery and it is awful. I just wanted a good old English carvery but the veg was awful. One it was chopped so small and looked like it came out of bags from Iceland and it just was not your meat and veg meal. For the money we spent it was awful and bland we left half of the food. Another women there was saying the same thing. Miss what the place used to be we won’t be eating there again

Staff were friendly. Carvery was alright, but could have done with more meat, meat was very minimal. Meat just laid in middle of plate, readjusted it myself

Loved the food. The pub has been refurbished and looks great. Loved the garden. But disappointed that the pub shut at 10pm on a Friday night. Had a coffee that was obviously the dregs of the last coffee pot. My party were politely reminded that we needed to leave at 9.40pm. If you want a restaurant then worth a visit but wouldn't return for just a drink.

Went for my mums birthday had a lovely Sunday carvery we all enjoyed it

I went for a Carvery on Sunday. Was told by friendly waiters , you could get your carvery whenever your ready. Carvery tasted delicious with generous amounts of meat. Carvery was self serve- on selection of vegetables and trimmings. I highly recommend the carrot cake for pudding. Will definitely return. 😃

First time eating here,and it was delightful. We received a nice welcome Service was fast and servers very polite . The young man serving the calvery was very attentive and polite . I would have chosen a more intimate table but not complaints . A very positive experience Definitely be back there soon

Food was lovely, not much sight of staff unfortunately, had to ask to be served several times.

Not good i went with my boyfriend and the lady said can i get you a child menu and i really wants happy the Yorkshire puddings just feel in my hands

Food is very good, the service is good, and the staff are attentive and competent. Food was the absolute highlight, I had the burger, which was delicious. We shall be grabbing a bite to eat here when next in the area.

Great sandwich/ roll ,beef & 1 turkey fresh not sliced package meat nicely made, tasted fab good price nice coffee great place to stop for a quick lunch. Staff very friendly 😁

Lunch was "ok" , drinks were excellent

Lovely meal with the family. Went all in 3 courses and we tried a variety of dishes, not going for the carvery this time. Every left very happy. Its was a quiet night with only 2 other tables occupied but that was ideal for us.

The owners seem to have done a lot of work improving the pub, lovely outdoor seating area, very polite barman, we didn't eat there today but we will very soon

Our experience was really nice. Pleasant staff. Really nice Roast carvery and very reasonably priced. Plenty of parking on site. It does get busy so booking is advisable. Easy to do online on there website.

Pretty dreadful. Waitress took our order, pretty simple - 4 waters, 3 carveries and a kids burger with no cheese. Kids burger arrived, covered in cheese. Was replaced and was enjoyed. Carvery was average at best. Dog end of beef and ancient Yorkshire puddings. Waters never appeared and waitresses were uninterested in attending our table. Finally managed to flag one down and waters were found and brought to us just as we finished eating our meals. Won’t bother returning

This was my first time back since the re-opening and had a wonderful meal. The carvery was delicious with a great range of tasty vegetables and well seasoned meat. The staff were attentive, efficient and welcoming and the restaurant is light, attractive and warm. I thoroughly recommend the Bunbury Arms and am already planning my next trip. Thank you 😊

Have only visited the Bunbury Arms twice and both times the service has been shocking. Our more recent visit left us feeling forgotten about, waiting ages to be served, I had to call the waitress over to tell her we had finished our mains to which she said she'd clear up shortly but never did, I then had to get my own dessert menus and call her back over again to order, after ordering dessert, 15 minutes later she came back to tell us the dessert we ordered, was out of stock! We finally got the bill to which surprise surprise the waitress never returned, so had to go up to the bar to pay. Ok food topped off with shocking service, we won't be back!

Only popped in for a drink on a Saturday afternoon but the carvery looked very nice and we would like to return to try it. Bar staff were very polite, welcoming and friendly which is always a good start.

Was a bit disappointed at first that they no longer do carvery at lunchtime (except Thursday and Sunday), but the food was delicious. I had the chicken burger and my husband had the Bunbury burger, both were scrumptious 😋

Opening hours state until 10 but should update hours to close for 9, as staff turn music off (at 9 o'clock) and talk about leaving and locking doors. With a minimun of 4 tables (that I could see) a very different atmosphere in the last hour and not feeling welcome as a customer. This has happend a few evenings I have been. WILL NOT BE RETURNING

Wow, came across this place, on a trip to bury st Edmunds. Very inviting from the outside, inside we were met with friendly staff that showed us to a table promptly. First class roast, being a coeliac normally means I'm limited, not here, the chef was very knowledgeable regarding a gluten free diet, he was very helpful and interested. I understood his son was also a coeliac, which certainly helped his understanding of customer needs. Excellent place, thoroughly enjoyed roast and gf dessert. We will be back. Well done.!😀

First visit since the new management took over, and have to say the food was a vast improvement. On the downside, I had 4 pints throughout the afternoon, and had to change my choice of beer as they kept running out of beer. It didn't spoil the afternoon though. 🤓

Have visited a number of times now and each time we have had fantastic food. The Carvery is our favourite - the food is always hot,fresh and very tasty. Staff are very welcoming ,friendly and helpful. I highly recommend and will be definitely visiting again

Just stopped by on passing and we were very well looked after by the friendly staff. We saw the fire and they let us enjoy our meal in the cosy corner, Perfect!

Nicely refurbished with a lovely ambiance. Pub food priced fairly and bar prices are reasonable. The carvery on Thursday evenings is very good value, nicely cooked and plenty of it. They deserve to do well and we will return.

It's ok. The food looks nice but I'm not a great fan of carvery which was all I could see. Beer seems pretty good.

Not happy with displaying Greene King sign outside your pub and then saying that you do not except blue light card discount for you expressed that you are not part of a Green King pub

Took the children there on Saturday for breakfast and Easter egg hunt. The food and staff service was brilliant hopefully the breakfast mornings will continue as it was a nice break from the norm. Well done to all the staff morning well spent

Lovely food great service , and the kid’s got an easter egg, , the best meal I’ve had in a long time.

Booked as location was convenient. However place was lovely, spacious & nicely decorated. We only had a selection of starters, but they were soo good. Although didn’t have carvery it did look very good. Lots of vegetarian options. Have to say very surprised how good the food was & will definitely be returning. Also unlike some places we never felt we were being rushed to leave our table.

Brilliant food and welcoming staff.

The food has been consistently good every time we have visited. However, I have found that certain members of staff, namely the Manager, could be more welcoming and approachable. Rule number one for a pub of this nature which relies on passing trade!

Went for a Sunday carvery. While this was very tasty the portion of meat was scarce. The staff are very young and completely clueless. They wonder around aimlessly looking at eveything apart from the customers. The barman ( short hair, glasses , goatee) had a very bad attitude with us , I presume because I took back our 2 pints of IPA because we got brought 2 pints of shandy. Left feeling like unless the staff buck their ideas ups and change their attitude we won't be returning.

We went for carvery looked amazing everything tasted bland, pudding was awful custard was like water, and the apple crumble was dry very expensive

First time back after New ownership must say food was excellent we had carvery and the kids had meals off the menu very tasty the prices were very good 👍 staff we're very helpful and friendly but I would say there was abit of a wait but the place was busy so I think they were all flat out plenty of car parking space and tables outside if you wanted but me I'd wait for the warmer weather in all lovely place to go for a meal 😀

Carvery was very good BUT the service was abysmal. Drinks order was taken when we arrived but not delivered until half way through our meal after I left the table and chased our order. We were not asked if we wanted more drinks, dessert, tea or coffee, while the dirty plates were still on the table when we left almost 2 hours later. Finally we had to again search someone out to pay. Yes it was busy when we arrived, yes the meal was good value but no excuse really and I don’t think we will be going back anytime soon.

Really delicious carvery with great portion size, good choice and really attentive and fast service by the waiting staff. Looking forward to another visit!

Can't comment on atmosphere as we arrived after a huge holdup, after normal lunchtime, but otherwise totally unfaultable. Our waitress was charming & attentive and the food was fabulous. The journey home was spent trying to come up with a better previous pub meal. [We couldn't]

Good food, well cooked good value

My vegetarian carvery was delicious, my partner said his meat carvery was also very tasty, and staff were lovely. However, the whole meal was ruined by a very high level of noise plus a lot of children constantly running back and forth past our table, past the carvery bar and past many other people who were eating and carrying food. It was not only very disturbing and irritating, but a health and safety hazard. This should not be tolerated. It was a shame because it completely distracted from, and spoiled, an otherwise nice meal.

Amazing food served by amazing staff. I would 100% recommend them. Sticky toffee pudding with caramelised banana and toffee sauce is the best dessert I have ever tasted.
