Lovely pub but welcome by bar staff non existent! Could he be bothered? Serving staff “ Danielle “ fab professional , helpful & smiled!! Starter & dessert fine- mains ( roast & Thai curry)- very poor, bland & overcooked. Manager given feedback. Perhaps time of day - late Sunday evening but really an excuse- hospitality is hospitality. Would not return

I ordered wild mushroom quiche with a side of chips (there was no mention of a side salad) when the food arrived I was disappointed that my quiche was 3 tiny circular quiche bites, the sort you get in a box of party nibbles!! There was coleslaw and salad on the plate (which would have been good) but, both were covered in mustard dressing !! So couldn't eat those and the chips were very much like chip shaped boiled potatoes, anaemic and tasteless. My husbands battered fish was also really greasy. Sorry Barbridge, lovely pub and setting though.

Enjoyed my meal here. The pub was quiet due to it being an afternoon in the middle of the week but can imagine it gets very busy. An ideal location being placed right next to the canal. A good choice of food which came in a good time and wasn't bad. Certainly not the best pub food I have had but was adequate. Good selection of beers on from Beartown brewery which was a nice surprise and good to see pubs getting more local beers in. Would definitely try this pub again.

Just called in as we were passing after a family day out and needed a table for 9. They quickly set up some tables for us followed by food and drinks. The service was excellent and the food was just as good. A mixture of Sunday lunches, burgers and salmon, all of which were hot, tasty, full of flavour and good portions. It was a great find and we all look forward to going back again, we all agreed one of the nicest meals we have had in a long time. We have been back a number of times and just had Sunday lunch yesterday. Absolutely spot on, all very tasty and cooked perfectly.

Ideally situated, by the canalside, I read the website to check on their menus. On arrival we found that the pub was almost empty. The menu we were given bore little resemblance to the ones on their website and they were no longer offering the pensioners two course lunch. The food was absolutely fine, and the service was good, but it didn't actually offer what the website promised. Sadly, I wouldn't want to go again as the pub has no atmosphere and the menu is very ordinary.

Nice to see this place still going after all these years. Sunday roast was absolutely superb. Delightful aspect looking out onto the cut. Food did take a while to come, but it was busy, to be fair. Only criticism was the 'we're a dog friendly pub' mentality. This apparently means that actual human customers are pretty much second class citizens, or so it would appear. I'm not a huge fan of being surrounded by others' mutts, but if they're well-behaved (seen and not heard) then that's fine. What I do object to is yapping whelps near the bar, and no action taken by staff to remind the owner/s that, out-of-control animals are not welcome. Case in point. Sunday lunchtime, some drunkard on his own downing pint after pint, swaying gently, circulating amongst tables, dog yapping loudly every five seconds. Other dog owners evidently thought this is both adorable and hilarious. It isn't. Owner not remotely bothered, staff ignored it. Though an establishment can't be expected to be responsible for the misbehaviour of selfish idiots' pets, a bit of enforcement regarding the accommodation of 'well-behaved dogs' wouldn't go amiss. As mentioned, food was faultless and I'd definitely go back. But please remember that just because you don't wish to be surrounded by dogs, doesn't necessarily mean that you should have to go elsewhere. A dog-free zone wouldn't hurt, either.

Visited last Sunday for lunch . Had pre booked and advised we would have 4 dogs with us but the table we were given was quite cramped with not much room for the dogs . It was fairly busy so didn’t complain. The Sunday roast beef was amazing and my husband had fish and chips which he said was very good and the portions were huge . Be aware however if you are vegan as one of our party was . There is not much of a selection. A beyond meat burger is offered but it is served in a non vegan brioche bun and the waitress told us the chips are cooked in the same oil with fish. Our vegan ended up having pasta which was a small portion and very bad value for money . Improvement could be made to the vegan options but all in all an enjoyable experience

A few members of our decided to have a get together for a pre Christmas dinner. The first thing you do on arrival is order drinks nearly half of our party were told the drinks they asked for they hadn't got, not unusual drinks just everyday drinks you expect to be served in a pub.. All the meals had been pre ordered from the Christmas menu with the exception of a couple of member of our party who ordered from the ordinary menu.. Starters arrived all fine apart from they hadn't catered for one member mm these were pre ordered they should know how many people ordered soup!!!! Most of us had opted for the turkey dinner now that was disappointing I didn't expect to find the precooked sliced turkey you find in the supermarkets hiding under a big ring of stuffing accompanied by four sprouts one pig in blanket two small roastes a bit of carrot and parsnip I bet between all of us the hadn't used anymore than 3 carrots 3 parsnips 4 potatoes 20 sprouts topped off with half a pint of gravy.. Desert a some of us had preordered and some our party had said they would decide on the night, after choosing something from the menu i heard sorry we haven't got that what about this then no sorry we haven't got that either.. Sorry someone has ordered sponge from the Christmas menu I'm sorry but we haven't got any.. The amount of times through the evening I heard we haven't got any was unreal..from drinks to sauces to deserts.. Then I realised hang on its a Saturday night a couple of weeks before Christmas the place has only a quarter of its capacity taken if that why isn't there many customers I think we just witnessed why..
