Had a lovely lunch. Very reasonably riced. £13 which included a drink. Lovely setting next to canal. Staff very friendly and excellent service. Would highly recommend.

Lunch with friends today. Really good food at reasonable prices. Newly refurbished and pleasant. Good service too.

Came for lunch on Sunday bank holiday weekend. Pub was empty as it was just after 12pm but couldn't get any food due to one of chefs were sick. If I was an owner I wouldn't turn paying customers away but looks like they don't care enough.

Booked in and left waiting, no one took a drinks order and no one came for food. One person serving 10+ tables. Left waiting for 40 minutes. Walked out in the end, when we spoke to one of the staff they just looked at us as if we were speaking a different language. Need to hire more staff desperately. Really poor considering it’s only just opened. Small update: drove to another pub down the road (Dysart Arms) drinks order taken immediately and food ordered within 5 minutes. Incredible the difference it service.

Stayed on our boat 'the pub crawler' last night moored outside the pub .had a lovely evening meal and a few beers cask ale bob on.will be back again. Cheers

We would like to thank the staff for the exceptional care they extended to us.

A similar experience to another review, intended stopping for a family lunch by boat as we have many times previously, but all the pub side moorings taken, largely with the same collection of boats that have been moored there over the winter. With the towpath out of action under the bridge, no opportunity to stop. Hopefully the new management can part company with the overstaying moorers and welcome passing trade again.

Lovely meal ,great service from friendly staff ..will definitely return! Recent refurbishment is very tasteful.

Sorry this place isn’t for passing trade, I passing with my boat & thought I would try for lunch, I have used this place for years with previous landlords & never had a problem being served & always made welcome, but today I was turned away because I hadn’t booked, the car park was empty & there was plenty of tables empty, we wasn’t even offered to eat in the bar area, for a canal side pub to turn away passing boating customers isn’t very good I pass here at least once a month & will never try again,

Visited for Easter Sunday lunch, food was amazing, beef & belly pork roasts, burger & chips and deserts were all faultless, complimented by great service, in a lovely refurbished setting. Will definitely be back soon.

Very bad service, they will not serve you food if you haven't booked a table.......totally bemused as we sat in the garden with a sign saying otherwise..... Very poor.

We were staying on the boat nearby and popped in for lunch with friends. The pub must have just been reopened as everything looks new and fresh. We had a lunch deal main and drink for £12 and children's meals. The food was very nice and fresh including children's food. The staff was excellent and friendly. They did have little busy bags for children and fantastic play area in the garden. We will definitely be back again!

Amazing service and great atmosphere, incredibly accommodating to us arriving without a booking. If you’re on the canal I would definitely recommend a stop here!

Friends and family had a table booked for Sunday lunch. We were warmly welcomed and shown our table. The newly refitted pub looks AMAZING. Welcoming, cosy without being twee. Has a heritage feel and perfect vibe for a canal side pub/ restaurant. Garden is looking great and loads of seating, play area for kids & the whole place is dog friendly with treats on the bar too! Service was great even though it was busy ( and everything, tills etc, brand new!), good selection of drinks covering all tastes. Proper real ales, large range of beers/ lagers & wine list with sensible prices! Across our party we each had a different choice of meats. Everyone agreed that the food was very, very good. Beef- tender, tasteful. Chicken was cooked to perfection and the pork- OMG! Cannot fault anything on the plate & even had extra Yorkshire pudding to mop up an incredible gravy 😊. Puddings were shared, all delicious and my favourite STP I’ve had! The bill was reasonable and we all enjoyed the meal greatly. Fabulous to see new breath put into a well loved canal side venue. Helen & Jamie, new proprietors, are more than welcoming & we wish them all the best. All agreed that we are definitely returning and recommend that our friends and family book in too. Thanks to the team for a memorable afternoon. 😊

Such a lovely place, food is absolutely delicious, the new owners are really nice and friendly, everything has been refurbished and renovated and we are happy that the The old Barbridge Inn is alive again.

If you’ve never been, you should go and if it’s an old favourite, you’ll love it even more.

The atmosphere is as good as before, if not better. The environment is clean, the welcome is warm and friendly. They were serving food and we asked if they had space? we had a lovely table looking over the garden and were offered both the Sunday menu and the general weekday menu. We both opted for Sunday lunch, him beef & me pork, both meals were spot on, couldn’t fault anything. and the service just as you’d want it to be. If you’ve never been, you should go and if it’s an old favourite, you’ll love it even more.

I've been a few times for a meal. I went last weekend for sunday dinner, and I found it closed with shutters over the windows.

Lovely pub but welcome by bar staff non existent! Could he be bothered? Serving staff “ Danielle “ fab professional , helpful & smiled!! Starter & dessert fine- mains ( roast & Thai curry)- very poor, bland & overcooked. Manager given feedback. Perhaps time of day - late Sunday evening but really an excuse- hospitality is hospitality. Would not return

Excellent Sunday roast next to the Shropshire Union Canal.

Steak and ale pie as usual was delicious. Never had a better one anywhere else. Excellent food. Excellent service. Very relaxing atmosphere. We go here every year when we are out on our canal boat.

Very slow service. The food was nice but I don't know why you ask for notes on the booking if you don't do anything about them. My daughter's 18th and moving into college, they could have at least acknowledged her

I ordered wild mushroom quiche with a side of chips (there was no mention of a side salad) when the food arrived I was disappointed that my quiche was 3 tiny circular quiche bites, the sort you get in a box of party nibbles!! There was coleslaw and salad on the plate (which would have been good) but, both were covered in mustard dressing !! So couldn't eat those and the chips were very much like chip shaped boiled potatoes, anaemic and tasteless. My husbands battered fish was also really greasy. Sorry Barbridge, lovely pub and setting though.

Enjoyed my meal here. The pub was quiet due to it being an afternoon in the middle of the week but can imagine it gets very busy. An ideal location being placed right next to the canal. A good choice of food which came in a good time and wasn't bad. Certainly not the best pub food I have had but was adequate. Good selection of beers on from Beartown brewery which was a nice surprise and good to see pubs getting more local beers in. Would definitely try this pub again.

Great place to stop for a boat.

On a canal boat and booked ahead with intention of mooring here. Lovely place right on canal, nice atmospheres and great service. Great menu and our food was superb - fantastic experience and highly recommended.

Food was pretty pleasant… but wouldn’t call this a gastropub… Super friendly service. Unfortunately place smelled of urine and then febreeze…. Toilet doors should be kept shut!!!

Just called in as we were passing after a family day out and needed a table for 9. They quickly set up some tables for us followed by food and drinks. The service was excellent and the food was just as good. A mixture of Sunday lunches, burgers and salmon, all of which were hot, tasty, full of flavour and good portions. It was a great find and we all look forward to going back again, we all agreed one of the nicest meals we have had in a long time. We have been back a number of times and just had Sunday lunch yesterday. Absolutely spot on, all very tasty and cooked perfectly.

Ordered cheese & pickle sandwich, sweet chilli chicken wrap, tea & latte. Just wanted a light bite and watch the boats go by. Latte the milk was sour, had to send it back. Cheese & pickle sandwich stale and hard, salad brown & floppy, Chicken wrap 4 pieces of chicken loads of chilli, floppy lettuce coleslaw runny No homemade cooked for here, all just processed.

Consistent in its service. The food is always good, the service always friendly. You are sure of it when you make the effort to go there.

We were on our way home to Chester and fancied Sunday lunch, decided to choose here, off the beaten track but signposted, past a few times so we came in and gave it a go, Wow, excellent roast, 7 different veg,a massive y/pudd and mash plus roasties, fabulous value and very filling, will definitely be back, great location by the canal marina too.

We had been told by others on narrowboats the food was good and it didn't disappoint. Brilliant homemade and great Spicy Chilli.

Excellent meal and lovely staff. Only thing was the table was very sticky.

First time visit and the last Place seems run down, tables outside falling apart Guinness was off, tasted chemical, left that Food was awful, stale brioche bun Chips were pale and hard Pointed this out to the waiter, just said "sorry about that " and walked off with the chips No replacement and ignored after that What a waste of £40 Not at all recommend

Not to bad a place , we got there as it opened , very nice interior and a nice beer garden next to the canal , so great for gongozeling ,we ordered our food and had to wait a while , it wasn't to bad , the problem was there was a very large party of people right after we ordered our food so I knew it would take a while ,

Called in for lunch during a canal walk, was welcomed warmly, and served promptly. We both had the handmade beef burger and thoroughly enjoyed the burger and homemade chips. Will no doubt return.

Nothing better then a cold pint on a sunny day in the beer garden

Ideally situated, by the canalside, I read the website to check on their menus. On arrival we found that the pub was almost empty. The menu we were given bore little resemblance to the ones on their website and they were no longer offering the pensioners two course lunch. The food was absolutely fine, and the service was good, but it didn't actually offer what the website promised. Sadly, I wouldn't want to go again as the pub has no atmosphere and the menu is very ordinary.

Lovely lady opened the doors as I approached with my Mum in her wheelchair. We had a nice table, near the door. Excellent menu, with lots of choice. The seafood spaghetti was amazing and the plaice was fresh and perfectly cooked. Puddings were lovely but very large! Attentive service without being intrusive. We will be back. Highly recommend.

Great location, food tasty, service friendly but i think the picnic tables and benches are a joke. It was difficult to find a set that wasn’t dangerously wobbly. We noted other guests were moving round trying to find one that wasn’t on the edge of collapsing too. Gives a run down impression of the whole place. Shame.

Went with my sus in law for lunch. Beautuful day snd sat in garden overlooking canal. So lovely. Food was really nice. We both had Mediterranean vegetables with cheese on ciabatra. Lovely salad and coleslaw they put wholegrain mustard in. Genius. Gentleman who served us was vert friendly

Last night on the barge and popped in for an evening meal. Hadn't had fish all week so went for the Haddock and chips and wasn't disappointed. Large piece of white Haddock, with a lovely crispy batter, and the chips were superb, proper old fashioned fried chips. Dog freindly as well

Excellent Sunday Roast. Halloumi fries were great. And fritters tasted like American thanksgiving stuffing.

Expensive food, nice location by canal.

Great food but the staff put a dampner on it, they were quite rude to my guests when they arrived and wouldn't serve them at the bar. Would go back but staff really need to work on their attitude.

What a fantastic hidden gem...it's next to the canal,so a lovely beer garden with plenty of outdoor seating, we ordered the sharing platter between us and it was delicious.

Popped in at lunchtime after a walk down the canal. Very quiet but staff friendly and accommodating. Normally only have a drink but decided to dine this time. The food was AMAZING! Was not expecting the food to be such good quality and value, we had a burger and steak sandwich. Will 100% be returning for food again. Bonus for having a large dog friendly area inside too!

If it was possible to give 4.9 stars I would but that's only because this place is near perfect. The food, service and beer were all excellent and any blemishes aren't really worth a mention. Congratulations to a great front and back house team. Chef gets a special mention.

Met a group of friends here for a catch up, there were 7 adults and 5 large dogs. The pub was really busy as it was Easter weekend...so we were a little stressed trying to find seats/tables to accommodate the gang. That stress was totally alleviated by Katie, who was absolutely amazing in rearranging tables to allow us all to sit together.

Came for my Mums birthday with the family and was a wonderful night, greeted to a lovely member of staff with a big smile and so friendly and helpful!!! The food was so delicious we couldn't fault a thing, everything so fresh and tasty!!! Can't wait to go back and try out other items on the menu. Highly recommend 👌

Went today for Sunday lunch, was absolutely incredible. Sunday dinner plentiful, great mix of veg (not boring boiled carrots 😂) and beautiful gravy and Yorkshire.we had the beef and nut roast. Kids also throughly enjoyed their mini version! Will most definitely be back!
