Was slightly dubious that a pub could do Thai food, how wrong I was totally amazing, looking forward to trying more dishes on my next visit

Absolute sh*****e full of druggys empty bags In the toilets. Customers allowed to do so. Management didn’t bat an eyelid. Came for food a year back and was pleasantly surprised how the pub had changed clearly go through managers like hot dinners not impressed with the new ones nor the owners for letting this once great pub fall to a shadow of its former days. No food anymore just a drink hole.

historically have called in for a cheeky beer from time to time...this time was disappointed no real ale available, just a large range of lagers. Very friendly staff, but seems more a lager boozer with emphasis on TV and pool table...good luck for the future but not for me.

Food was lovely ,had home made pizza ,southern fried chicken burger and fries with the best crispy bacon ever ,would definitely come again

Was in last weekend, had the meat feast pizza and my wife had the frazzled pig burger with a side of pizza fries. Everything was fresh and tasty. We heard that there are new chefs in the kitchen, so it's definitely worth checking out. Wll definitely visit again

Come here for a night out with friends from the moment we walked in we got a bad vibe the staff was just stood around on there phones and rude the beer tasted of yeast as if lines haven’t been cleaned recently and the food was cold and mouldy and the floor by our table was full of food left from the other guests tables not wiped down and dirty cutlery cigarette ends outside the front door I would not be going back it’s gone down hill since the last owner think there trying to turn it into a cocktail bar rather then a local pub that serves food and normal beers

Shame I couldn't give a 0 Went here for a family meal the night before a wedding we was attending, not far from there. Ordered meals, 2 came out wrong, so returned. Then my grandson turned his burger bun over and it was mouldy. Meals was full of grease, service was awful, asked for the manager and she wasn't available, took them 30 minutes to get back to me, and speak to me about the meals, I asked for the chef and he was a young kid. We couldn't eat the rest of our meals as we didn't know what else was old. I asked the chef ! What else was out of date and he shrugged his shoulders. There was no offer of my bill being reduced, but I had no intention of paying for any of the meals.

I was here with my family and everything looked great staff attentive. Well sort of. My mom wanted a plain burger ie no coleslaw etc. Plain burger means a beef/chicken burger with nothing on just plain. Young waiter noted this down. My son in law said oh could you put that coleslaw in a dish and we can share it. That was all ok'd by waiter. Kids plain cheese burger means as above with.... cheese. kids plain cheese burger came with salad on one(??) And the other as plain. So 2 meals sent back and mom's burger came back plain. My 8yr old grandsons came back plain too but half way through eating it had added MOULD on the bottom of the bun!! I had eaten my very beautiful fish and told them it was nice but I couldn't keep it in my belly for long after as I was thinking about it not the restaurants fault.plus I asked for chips and got wrinkly wedges instead and they tasted ok. Didnt get the coleslaw in a dish though.Young staff very apologetic as managers day off. As my mom was a catering manager before retirement and I have been a kitchen manager for 2yrs we know the standards and the way a kitchen works and mouldy buns isn't the way it works. Paid for drinks only.

Quiet table inside. Very pleasant and helpful waitress service, although we did have to wait for attention at times.

Arrived at the establishment after a day at work looking to sit outside and enjoy an evening drink. Was looked at like a hawk by all sat outside. A friendly member of staff greeted myself and my companion and asked if we could sign in on the test and trace app. I politely informed the member of staff that I did not have the app and would it be possible to sign in on a paper form. They agreed and asked me to wait at the door. Following this a group of folk from outside walked past us and inside not wearing masks. The member of staff returned and critiscised my walk and told me I was slurring my words. Admittedly my friend and I had drunk a single lager a piece at dinner in a celebrity fashion for his birthday. We were not drunk but was definitely shown up and felt embarrassed for having a disability. I would avoid this pub unless you want to be victimised and made to feel ashamed to be different. To anyone reading this I would advise not venturing to a cold hearted and sheer rude further more unpleasant venue. Was very much looking forward to my visit to Lindley. Never again.

We were greeted at the door by friendly staff who showed us to our table and let us know of the slight menu changes for the night. Went for the salt & pepper burger and was not disappointed. Really tasty food at really reasonable prices. The service was quick and the pub has done everything it can to make you feel comfortable whilst maintaining covid related restrictions. Great night and will be back again soon.

had my sons wake here,put over £400 pounds behind bar,not one family member got a free drink then to top it off all tables got high bills due to them putting prices of alcohol up.paid for food seperately but not every one got food. dont get me wrong owners are very pleasent.but could of been better organised sorry

Burgers were great and loved the chunky chips. Good service from the staff, nothing was too much trouble

I don't necessarily mean epic pizza in terms of the pizza's quality. The best quality pizza I ever had was in a restaurant on a small island off the coast of Sardinia. Huddersfield is never going to match that. But my pizza at the Old Wire Works was epic in the sense that it could feed a hungry family of four. For a hungry thinnish man it represented 3 separate feasts, and it was good.

We came with high expectations after reading reviews. There was a warm welcome. When we ordered food we were told there was a long wait. That was OK with us as we were perfectly fine just sitting with a drink. When food came apparently the pie was average & just came with chips & peas. Expensive for £13 as our normal haunt has a dish of veg & is much better for a cheaper price. Fish was large but tasteless. We are always on the lookout for new restaurants to go on our list of favourites but unfortunately this will not be one of them.

We celebrated our daughters 21st Birthday Party at the Old Wire Works. What a great night. My daughter booked the party a few weeks in advance with a small deposit. Although there isn't a function room they can accommodate a decent sized party by reserving a decent section of the bar area. They are really relaxed about ordering food etc, we only confirmed what food we wanted the day before. We arrived a little early on the night of the party which didn't seem to be an issue, the reserved area was set out well with adequate tables etc. The food arrived at the pre-arranged time and was really good, we had a selection of pizzas, and a selection of other warm food. Lots of people commented about how good the food was. The pub was really busy all night but there was plenty of bar staff on hand to deal with it. We had approx. 60 guests and had a really great night, my daughter had a fantastic 21st birthday. thanks to all involved it really was spot on.

We visit the Old Wire Works fairly regularly, but have never bothered reviewing it, not sure why not. We've never had a bad meal. Tonight's was even better than usual. Two sizes of main meals on offer, which is great, beautiful pizza's and great burgers. Freshly made chunky chips, amazing gravy (according to the ones that had roast dinner) and really nice friendly staff.

Had five visits here for food over the past eighteen months, and there was one which was a disappointment but the other four times we've really enjoyed ourselves.Recently had a couple of the burgers from the menu, the chicken ones in particular have gotten rave reviews. Fish goujon sandwich for lunch also a winner, and the bar staff we have always found friendly and keen to help.If booking for a family or group, when busy it can be quite loud, so beware if you have people in your group would prefer to avoid noisy places on a Friday/Saturday.

Wanted to book a table for a family party for lunch. They appeared really uninterested and said they might be able to fit us in but we’d have to preorder the food. Our family like to have a good few drinks and aren’t bothered about being rushed when it comes to food delivery. Shame really as the last place we went to, the bill was almost £350 for food and drink. Their loss.... we do like it here normally, but this was not the best display of customer service!

A group of 20+ to dine at 1.00 on a Friday....and we did, totally spot on, service 2nd to none, food bloody brill (I had the Christmas pizza, and what a pizza it was).Between us we had, fish, game pie, turkey and pizza, not a single fault.Starters and desert the same..very good.Our members came from, local, North Yorks, Leicester, Spain and Scotland, what a great time we had, even the chief came to say hello and make sure everything was OK.

My stepson likes it here. Its always a good experience, usually busy but calm and relaxed. It was as ecpected.The restaraunt is always clean and tidy.The staff are hardworking, well mannered and attentive, without going overboard.2 of us had pizza, they are huge and well prepared.One had the Cumberland sausage,it was fine, but a bit more mash would have made it great.I had the fish and chips which was good. The batter wasnt as blown and crispy as usual, but still it was good.With 8 drinks the bill was very reasonable.All in all very good, as usual.

A group of five ladies who lunch..We all had the smaller meals, and that was plenty because we all wanted to make room for desert. 2 had fish and chips, 1 had scampi,another had the steak pie and another the steak sandwich. All were delicious and of course were the chunky chips. All our deserts were very moreish. Service was excellent, Definately going again.

I've eaten here several times, along with vegetarian friends and people with other sorts of limited diet, as well as typical omnivores. We've all easily found something to tempt us on the varied and extensive menus or on the specials board and have always enjoyed our meals. Most recently, a friend and I ate the aubergine chilli dish which, we though a little hot for our taste, but it was certainly flavourful. Others in the group ate the home-made fish cakes and gammon, and thoroughly enjoyed these. A pasta dish I'd eaten on a previous occasion was delicious, as were all the sweets ordered, particularly the cheesecake. As this is a popular pub, it can get rather noisy, but the noise is not too intrusive in the restaurant area. Service is good, though a little slow on busy nights. Prices are reasonable and portions ample. I will certainly eat here again and recommend the Old Wire Works especially to groups including vegetarians.

We decided to eat out on bank holiday monday. This pub has a good menu selection but we went for the Monday special, two pizzas and bottle of house wine for £20. The pizzas were large and nearly overwhelmed us. The pub is run like a pub should be run .friendly & efficient staff .

Went for lunch today. Steak pie and Pepperoni pizza. Food and service were excellent. Would recommend a visit.

Came in today with my 75r old parents and 16 yr old son for dads borthday. Great service, food came quick and was really tasty. Great visit all ways round. Thanks

I ordered the large scampi £10 from the menu as I was feeling hungry.

Have been here before with friends and the food was fantastic. Apparently now they have a new chef who doesn't know how to present the food the same way I was told. We went for the small fish and chips and small it most definitely was. The chips (five of them) were greasy and the mushy peas were quite literally a dollop and dry.

A 21st birthday meal we won't forget in a hurry. Regrettably the food at The Old Wire Works was very average. A variety of meals were ordered, two of which were sent back. The Brazilian Burger ordered by one of the party was awful, the chicken was dry and very small given that it was £10. The Fish Cakes were recommended by one of the party who had eaten there before and came highly recommended, regrettably they weren't of the previous standard and were left. I had the Works Burger and whilst in delivery it looked the part, it proved that looks can be deceiving. It lacked any form of flavour, it was just mince meat shaped as a burger and cooked. Positively the Fisn n Chips, Steak n Chips and Pizzas all received good feedback. I'm not one for complaining and very rarely submit reviews, but in this occasion I felt I needed to.

Me, my father and my youngest son travelled up from Spalding in Lincolnshire to visit my niece in Huddersfield royal infirmary and were told there was a pub adjacent to get some food.

I've visited here many times, love going in summer and sitting out enjoying a wine and pizza. The food has always been good and that staff always friendly so when a friend came to visit and wanted me to take her somewhere local for lunch this was my first choice for us and our two toddlers. We were seated immediately and shown to an area which had plenty of room for our two prams which was fab, we were given menus and our drink orders taken so we didn't have to take two little ones to the bar or take it in turns to get drinks. We both ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich with chips and we both really enjoyed this, also ordered a share platter which I didn't eat much off but looked lovely. The kids meals were £7 for a main, drink and pudding which I initially thought over priced until I saw the portion size. Unfortunately though we both ordered fish goujons for our little ones but both were brought chicken ones instead. I wondered why my daughter was spitting it out, she hates chicken and my friend's son wasn't keen on the chicken. Also the batter on one of the kids plates was very much over done. We did ask the waitress just to double check we hadn't ordered chicken by mistake but she confirmed we had ordered the fish and I explained that the food was wrong had been left as the children didn't like chicken. She apologised and said she'd mention it to the chef but I don't think it's acceptable as the food was a waste of money. Luckily they both wolved down their chocolate fudge cake which obviously us mummies had to taste test and was yummy.

Went for a meal 7pm saturday night table was ready for 8 people services was outstanding friendly cudnt do enough for us and kept checking and the food was lovely very tasty everyine had sumthing different but we all eat together wud defo recommend

Great service, food was perfect. Really accommodating for the kids one if which follows a dairy free diet.

Visited early last week with the husband, greeted very kindly by one of the waitresses. Bar staff were lovely and made us feel very welcomed, reasonably priced drink, food quality was what you'd expect.

looks like a pub restaurant. other half and I walked in and were asked if we booked a table?? we were asked to seat in the loudest part :( Nice menu, frozen food though. Barman refused to sell a half pint Not going back :(

Visited on a Wednesday lunchtime after a hospital appointment and didn’t know what to expect. Really friendly greeting on arrival, the place was very quiet with only a couple of tables in the restaurant part occupied. Great service by friendly but professional waiter. Villa Maria Saugvinon lovely and cold.

We called in for some lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The eating area was quiet and we were served quickly. The food was lovely and the staff and atmosphere were pleasant. The bar area did look busy & rowdy, but this didn’t effect us as the dining area is partially blocked from the area. We will definately return!

Visited just to get out of the hospital and dreadful Costa in there! In all honesty we weren't expecting much, but the food and the service were actually very good. Two of our party ordered the rump steak, which although a little chewy, was very tasty. Portion size was spot on and staff were attentive and polite. I'd happily visit again!

Went for a meal with friends and the pub/restaurant is furnished and decorated to a high standard. The staff are all very welcoming and helpful. My friends had the combo platter to share as a starter and it was very big. Chicken coujons were nice too as were the bhaji's. I opted for the special of the day, Belly pork with black pudding and creamy mash plus vegetables with a cider gravy. It was delicious. My partner had the Lasagne which she loved and my friends had the Burger and the Gammon. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We had quite a few drinks and the bill only came to about £30 per head which was excellent. We enjoyed it so much, that my partner and i went again the following night and had Yorkshire pudding starter followed by mouth watering steaks. Staff again were so polite and helpful. Will be a regular visitor from now on.

Lovely place to go for both a meal or a drink. The breakfast is good value for money and are delicious. Staff also very friendly and helpful.

A popular spot with youngsters at weekends results in a very noisy atmosphere. We made a trip on a Monday evening, much more pleasant but still with music blaring out. The food took a while to come but when it did it was very acceptable and not over priced. It’s ok but the noisy environment means it’s not ideal for eating out in my opinion.

I visited here for tea with my friends straight from work. We ordered food and when it came we asked for tomato ketchup, the waiter said he would fetch some. We waited 10 mins then asked again. Once again we waited another 10 mins and again was promised someone would bring some. After waiting again and no sauce we asked at the bar and still no sauce came. My friends food by now was stoney cold and she'd only eaten a couple of mouthfuls. We asked a waiter if we could pay reduced bill because of this, he went to ask and then the manager came over. He was very rude with an aggressive tone and told us you will pay for the meal. There was no goodwill gesture at all. One of our party tried in a pleasant way to negotiate to which he said, 'don't speak to me like that' because she had addressed him as Sir. She asked again for a goodwill gesture as he did not want to offer us anything at this point he offered us a free dessert but no apology at all. He needs some training in customer service.Myself and family are frequent visitors but will not be going back there now. We declined the offer of dessert paid our bill and left.

No organisation! Waiting times for starters was over 40 minutes! Table service is non existent and that staff seem busy but with no leadership. Needs a reshuffle to become as good as I remember it when it reopened.

Stayed in hotel night before and decided on this pub for breakfast as was near daughters. What a GEM of a find!

Managed to book in last minute after a power failure hit the original booked venue and cancelled all reservations! Lovely meal, very nicely presented and tasty, staff friendly, they even sang happy birthday to my mum with us when they brought her cake out. My mum has had a lovely celebration here, thank you all so much

Called here after visiting the hospital. The meal was lovely, very well presented and the the staff were polite and attentive. What more could you ask for from a pub? Will definitely visit again but let's hope it's not after a hospital visit.

Friends Sheila and Terry and myself had excellent meal at this Old Wire Works in Huddersfield this week and on both evenings had the assistance of Holly and her happy and helpful nature made evening an enjoyable time . The Tomato soup was excellent and the scampi and my haddock and chips and garden PEAS etc were all excellently presented at the table for us to eat .

Can not say how fantastic our meal and service was would say there is no where better to eat or drink in lindley

We live 5 minutes away from The Old Wire Works so we enjoying going as there's no arguments over who is driving and we can both enjoy a glass of wine or a lovely craft beer with our meal.

We happened across the Old Wire Works by accident, but boy were we glad we did! The service was friendly, helpful and welcoming, and the food was lovely - just really well done pub grub. The pizza was tasty, and when my youngest couldn't finish hers, they were happy to box up the rest for us to take away. Reasonable prices and a relaxed atmosphere added up to a place we're happy to recommend!

We visited here for a birthday meal, the eating areas are clean, tidy and nicely decorated, we were seated around the corner out away from the main bar area. The service was very, very good, We had a mixed sharing platter, onion rings (home made), chips, sausages, chicken goujons, chicken wings and garlic bread, very nice. it was a Monday and there was an offer on which was two 12" pizzas and a bottle of wine for £20.00, great value, in addition we had a steak pie which my son really enjoyed and a large, very large burger. It's a nice place to eat, with good food and good service, will definitely go back

The staff and service were brilliant. But it was a bit surreal. We were seated - hard chairs and a bit cold as there was no fire burning. The staff explained there was temporarily no draft beer. Then a chap began painting the woodwork....Unusual when you are about to order food. The nachos were good. Though no jalapeno. The pizza managed to be both crunchy and soggy. Usually the pizza is lovely .The veg burger was ok but the classic burger was dry. The desserts were ok. All in all a bit mixed.Not sure we will come back. We didn't say anything to the staff as they were so helpful.

Eating out 5 days a week, it is difficult to understand how we missed this gem.

Came with a group of friends and we had pizzas. They were so tasty! They are large pizzas so they are well worth the money! Chips very nice too! Wish I had of eaten here sooner! Great prices, efficient service! Will return!

Great friendly environment for a night out, evening out to watch the match or a bite to eat. All ages present from families having a lunch to young and old having a drink later on. Friendly and efficient staff. Good tasty food.

Food is good portion size just right . We been few times and always happy with the food and service.

We love going to the old wire works for a de-stress pint after work. We live nearby and find that the atmosphere and prices are great.

Popped in for lunch with wife, daughter in law and grandson. Good lunch menu, excellent sandwiches, best parsnip soup ever and amazing huge chips!!! All this backed up by great service from the young Barman whose name we never got. Will definitely go again!!!

Joined my wife and friends for a late lunch. Chose a small lasagne as a late lunch that was the worst lasagne I ever had which was like rubber. They obviously have no chef and will never eat there again.

Visited the hospital next door and as it was food time thought we would pop in. Our first visit to the Old Wire Works and the food was above average for pub grub and very well presented. The waitress was pleasant friendly and polite. Would have no hesitation in going back if the time is right on our next hospital visit.

We pre-ordered off the main menu and the food served was well cooked,hot and well presented. The wait between the first main course dish being served and the last was too long. Do not know why but the bar was very busy with drinkers.

A roaring fire was the welcome for our first visit. Just 2 for dinner and a good menu to choose from. We decided to keep it simple, so opted for a small fish and chips along with a blue cheese burger.

Booked a staff works lunch for 15 people. Because we came over from Halifax on the hospital shuttle bus, we were late because the first bus was full, so as soon as we walked in the door we were met by a slightly arrogant chap who was not very welcoming. The rest of our party were already eating (apart from one because hers had not arrived??). He eventually came over to take our drinks order after being prompted and when the drinks came over they were wrong so had to be replaced with the correct order. We ordered chicken caesar salad which was on the internet menu but not on their new menu. It consisted of chicken (which was quite nice) croutons, lettuce and some cherry tomatoes with shavings of cheese (very disappointing and not worth the price we paid). The lady who had to wait for hers, when it arrived it looked like they did it in a hurry and couldn't be bothered, very different from the person sat next to her who ordered the exact same thing.

Returned again for another great meal Cold outside but a warm welcome and a roaring fire. Seated very quickly, given a menu and drinks order taken. Really great waitress, Jade. had a good laugh with her, attentive not pushy Prices are really good, including 6 drinks, starters and mains for 3 people £78, will be back again soon.

Worst meal I've had starter spiced nachos expected at least chilli on but got 3 pieces of red chillies on very dry main course chilli burger burger very dry and had to look for the chilli which was tasteless others no fish in fish pie one burger sent back one wrong soup and that's what I know dissapointed to say the least

I went with my two brothers for lunch. One of them is coeliac, even though it doesn’t state on the menu what is gluten-free the manager Paul was really helpful and found out everything my brother could eat which included pizza as they had some gluten-free pizza bases.

The staff are very friendly the food was very nice and service excellent The deco is good Price a tad expensive for a pub £68 for one corse x4 people plus drinks

Good job we booked our two evenings for a meal at the Old Wire Works on the Wednesday (20th & 21st Sept 2017) as both evenings were busy . We had a nice evening meal on the Wednesday and but on the Following evening one of our group ordered CHEFS FISH CAKES with new potatoes and dressed salad but when our main courses arrived the CHEFS FISH CAKES was a SAUSAGE & Mash which looks quite different to the order that should have been passed to the chef . That was of course returned and as the main courses were hot we had to start our meals and Sheila had to sit on her own waiting for the Correct order to come a long while later . Then when the correct order arrived the Chef's the CHEFS FISH CAKES were tasted the fish cakes were SPICEY but the menu fails to record that it is SPICEY and she certainly would not have ordered the Fish Cakes if the Old Wire Works menu had recorded the MEAL WAS SPICEY , We pointed out this lack of the word SPICEY on the menu and she said she would report it to the Chef as I said I would notify Trading Standards if she did not report it .

Wouldn't go back and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The food was terrible and potentially dangerous. 2 friends ordered 'Hunters Chicken' and the chicken breast and bacon were raw. When we complained the waitress was really apologetic however the chef and the manager couldn't be bothered to come and speak to us.

This place is well worth a visit, been a few times now and amazed at the consistency of the food. With so much to choose from it is well worth trying a different one each time, you will not be disappointed.

Went to Old Wire Works with friends. Had starters of camembert and mixed platter. Both very nice and tasty. Mains came not long after and the chilli, hunters chicken and tikka pizza all looked rather dry as though they had been under the heat lamp on the pass too long. Burger although asked for it cooked through was still quite red inside. We were never asked if we would like extra drinks or desserts, bit poor on the service front!! Will visit again but perhaps only have a starter and dessert!

Regularly visit for drinks on nights out with friends. Atmosphere is good and you feel relaxed. A trendy place for drinks or food although we haven't eaten there yet. The menu looks ok and reasonably priced.

Have made two recent visits here and the food both times has been excellent! There are a good selection of beers and 30 odd different varieties of gin! Perfection on first visit and close to it on the second, we’re absolutely giving it five out of five as four would be unfair, but based on the second visit, we felt rushed on arrival. We were immediately ushered away from the bar to a table and told that there may be a delay in food service. This was absolutely fine with us. Not everyone these days is in a rush and some people like to have a drink at the bar first before being seated for their meal. We were happy to spend the evening there. A minor point maybe and overall not a spoiler as such, we’ll be regulars going forward and the advice is purely constructive. Thank you.

Opposite the hospital and they are open at lunchtime so I discovered this pub when I'd been visiting someone at the hospital and needed something to eat. Various pub type food available and they have nice coffee and excellent beer as well if you just want a drink. Been a few times and each visit and every visit has been very good or excellent so I've given 4 stars as I cannot give 4.5.

The Old Wire Works is well presented and a very nice place to call in and have a drink (we didn't eat here).

I was just reading the reviews and thought I would write one, some of the review didn't give a true picture of the pub. That's what it is a pub that does good pub food, yes it is loud sometimes when you go in but it's the best pub in Marsh and lindley area the staff are always friendly and professional, there's a mixture of ages that go in and the food is good well worth the money, if you want a good pub at the weekend with nice people and good drinks it's the place to go

Good food, good drinks and great staff and service! The place is busy with all age groups and the vibe is spot on.

Turned up on a busy Saturday evening, being a group of 7 we were doubtful of being able to eat. We were given a table almost immediately. Asked if we wanted to order drinks while we checked out the menu. Ordered starters and mains, service was superb as was the food. Not pestered by staff with the "is everything okay". Would like to say a huge thanks you to Daniel our waiter, will be coming again soon.

Okay it is a pub and the quality of the food reflects that but it is acceptable, however stopped in for breakfast bacon just cooked, sausage cooked on one side and barlely warm beans but I suppose it is only £7ish! But the service from the cocky young lad!!! The breakfasts comes with toast so the breakfast arrived coffee already served in a filthy pot, no toast by the time he actually asked if all was okay we had finished so forget the toast then! My wife went to pay and when asked if all was okay she mentioned the toast no offer of a discount or even an apology just a "oh yeh good point". Can almost accept poor quality food if the service is reasonable but sadly this failed on both areas. Really disappointing, will stick to the usual cafe's Lindley has to offer.

Fabulous service clean and absolutely wonderful delicious food. Home made chips large portions and hot. Thank you somewhere fabulous and local and a friendly welcome from the staff.

We popped in on a Sunday lunch time for a bite to eat and enjoyed the experience. The pizzas are pretty much the best you will get in the area and reasonably priced. Service is very good and there are some decent ales on sale. You really can't knock it.

I was again visiting friends in Huddersfield and travelled down from Scotland and our friends decided with me to have a change of location for meals as we prefer to have "English " meals so found The old Wire works and my friends found the good reports so on Wednesday 17th May and Thursday 18th may we had an evening meal ,

Went out with a couple of friends for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat. from the outside it looked quiet got inside and it was very busy. managed to get a table straight away (which was lucky) ordered our drinks easily and our food order was taken quickly. The bar was full and had a good mix of old, young, sports fans and everything inbetween. the food arrived in good time the server was very helpful. the pizzas were amazing and my burger was good too. will go back again well worth a look.

This is 2nd time i have been here and took my niece. Told her how nice and big the onion rings were. We both ordered steak and noticed the onion rings were on the meal. Thought oh great so ordered a side of cheesy garlic bread. However when the meal came the onion rings on the meal were small ones not the same as the batter ones u get as a side. Was disappointed and had to order separate ones. The food is really nice but my only suggestion is they shouldn't do different frozen onion rings on the meals

We booked a table for a Friday night and turned up a few minutes early. The impression as you walk in is one heck of a busy pub full of drinkers. To the side is a food eating area, separate from the main drinking area. We were shown to our table and one of the seats was soaking wet.

We called for an evening meal on a wet wednesday, the welcome was a bright & helpful one, the young man showed us to a table and gave us a menu. Our drinks order was taken by a young lady, we ordered our meals, I chose the steak&ale; pie with mushy peas, this came with hand cut chips. My husband's choice was Rump steak which came with the big chips, mushrooms, onion rings, tomatoes & peas. My pie was tasty and the pastry was nice, but the filling was quite liquid [more like stew] as it had carrots & potatoes in it, could have been a bit thicker sauce, that said, You could taste the ale. Hubbys steak was cooked just right [medium], he enjoyed the rest of his meal. We waited a while then had a sweet, I had sticky toffee pudding & ice cream, tasty but I would have liked more toffee sauce. Hubby had apple tart & custard, he cleaned his plate happily. The young staff were pleasant & helpful, the dining areas are smart and clean with pictures around the walls. The music was just at the right level to listen to & chat, I did'nt visit the bathroom but my husband said the 'Gents' were fine. The meals & drinks were reasonably priced. We had a good time & meal, we'll visit again.

We went for supper on sunday evening but they stop serving at 7pm - it was 6.55pm ... and the staff were lovely said we could take a little time to choose our order and not to rush. The food was nice, we ordered mixed platter to share with chips and a couple of other sides

We called in for a drink I tried the carling ( mistake) the glass was warm the beer was flat and over priceed tried too talk with the old bald bloke behind the bar but that fell on deaf ears this pub will never make the good beer guide

Just been here for a friends birthday, we had to pre book our meals, so you would think that all the meals would be ready together, oh no, one member of our group waited an extra 20 minutes for her scampi, another member got his peppercorn sauce when he had finished his meal, he had left his steak to eat with his sauce, I had steak and ale pie, not very tasty, a lot of gravy on the pie. you no longer get NHS discount, as the hospital is across the road this would be great for us NHS staff!!

Came today and had breakfast. Fantastic service, lovely warm welcome and brilliant food . A roaring log fire to boot. Definitely worth a visit.

Saturday night busy with lots of atmosphere good choice of drinks. The meals are individually cooked. We were a table for six, and everybody thought the meals were splendid. I had a delightful lasagne. Booking a table is essential on Saturdays but go mid week if you prefer it to be quieter. Looking forward to another visit

I went for lunch with a friend - my second visit. Second of many to come. What a lovely place. We each had pizza - and I took half of mine home. It was delicious. We saw them carry out fish & chips to another table and that looked so good -- it could be my next selection. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I asked them to turn the music down a bit as I have hearing loss and it's difficult to hear conversation with music in the background and they did it immediately and cheerfully. The food came in good time and the service was efficient and pleasant. You would not fault anything about this restaurant.

Went on Sunday with some friends decided to get a pizza to share and a side of onion rings. Pizza was lovely and big enough for two people. The onion rings were massive and home made absolutely lovely. The lads who were serving us were very pleasant and helpful. My two friends had pudding and both said they were nice. Would go again
