What a beautiful pub. Lovely attentive staff, AMAZING food, and not small portions either. Will definitely be visiting next time we’re down

Must admit went here tonight as we got turned away from our first choice for a carvery, but all I can say is thank goodness, What a great place this is from the warm welcome when you walk in , to the large range of beers available, but the carvery is the star of the show , 5 meats available including venison ( never seen that before) and a wide offering of home cooked vegetables. I didn't have one but the desert menu was also good too . Definitely don't drive by this place it's a little gem , the packed car park is always a good sign in my eyes , staff were attentive and nothing was too much , well done for showing some other hospitality places how it should be done .

We were staying a few miles from this Inn. What gem we found. Had lunch Friday and the staff were so friendly we returned for a drink Saturday at this time we asked to book Sunday lunch. Although busy they fitted us in. Wow thank goodness they did! Best Sunday lunch we’ve had in a long time. Meat choices x 5, loads of veg for all tastes. The blackberry and apple pie jam packed with fruit🤤.Absolutely delicious and the staff were amazing. Thanks for making our birthday weekend so special. And the dogs loved the ‘biscuit lady’. We were staying within walking distance and ate here on 3 consecutive occasions due to the quality of the food, the warm welcome and the price. Friday night pies were sensational. Saturday night's offerings were great and the Sunday carvery was excellent with the trays of food being constantly replenished. We never booked but the friendly staff always welcomed us with a smile and found us a table. Highly recommended.

Had two evening meals here last week. The food very good, especially the variety of pies, and for afters had the Tiramisu the best I have in years Staff and atmosphere excellent.

We are sitting in the pub right now after eating one of the best carvery’s we have ever had! Completely dog friendly. The option of 5 different meats and they do not scrimp on the portions! All of the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. This place is a real gem and I would recommend it to anyone.

The only Welcome we received was the one written on the outside of the building. On arrival, I was immediately asked to pay the balance on the room and to order breakfast. My partner had decided to join me at the last minute and the Manager I believe was called and Sue then thrust a piece of paper in front of me, demanding extra payment. when I pointed out it was a double room, I was told charging for an extra person "it is our policy" I was genuinely shocked that someone in the hospitality industry knew so little about being hospitable. The Double room was extremely small, and shabby with threadbare sheets and towels. No chair or table. We didn't take any meals there as we felt so uncomfortable. It was a really horrible experience!

We go to Wainhouse regularly and thought it was about time I wrote a review! We visited recently and I had the venison bourginon off the specials and my husband had the cheese burger. Both meals were excellent. Very obviously good quality ingredients that have been cooked well. For dessert I had the creme brulee and my husband had the brownie. Again absolutely perfect! I'd highly recommend this place to everyone! We really don't visit often enough.

I have always preferred a Sunday Carvery to a plated roast dinner, simply because I want to choose what vegetables go on my plate. Unfortunately, the place we used to visit, no longer does a Carvery, which left us at a loose end in trying to find somewhere else as good, but now, after several failed attempts. it's a case of problem solved now we have discovered 'The Wainhouse Inn' which is easily the best carvery we have found, close to home! This place scores high in every respect. Not least of all because of the choice of 5 meats, which on the day we went consisted of Beef, Belly Pork, Lamb, Turkey and Venison, plus a good selection of vegetables. The pub itself is homely and unpretentious and has a nice feel to it! In short, for anyone living in the Bude area, it's well worth a trip out! You would be hard pressed to find anywhere in town that would even come close to offering anything that would equal this!

Wir hatten eine Übernachtung über Agoda gebucht und uns im Datum geirrt. Wir sind trotzdem hingefahren. Leider hatten sie kein Zimmer mehr frei. Aber wir hatten unsere Buchungskosten komplett von den Besitzern direkt zurück bekommen. Vielen Dank für die außerordentliche Gastfreundschaft.

Me and my daughter popped into get some dinner after we had been told how nice the food was. I found the staff (that served us) polite. I ordered a chicken burger and chips and she ordered the hunters chicken. When my food was served I tried to cut the chicken which was overcooked and had a rancid smell so I did not touch it the chips were so dry and shrivelled I didn't want to attempt them either. So I pushed it to the side and left it. I spoke to a woman and told her I can't eat my food she was apologetic and offered me another meal to which I said politely I'm no longer hungry I felt a little sick but thankyou. I asked for the bill and shockingly only had £7 deducted from my meal (£14,99) I challenged it only to be told sorry we won't accept a refund! I paid for half a meal that I didn't even touch! Who ever the manager is here needs to address this because it's disgusting treatment. It's overpriced and unsatisfactory.

Take away food called in on the off chance after busy day out. On a weeks holiday. Excellent service even though they were extra busy . Locals & tourists alike . Food was brilliant & bottle of cider & cup of tea were too .prices were also very good for takeaway.

Amazing local pub, with very welcoming and accomodating staff. Great atmosphere. And truly amazing food. Dogs welcome too. Had such a lovely meal there, they even catered for my hubby's dietary requirements with a larger version of the macaroni cheese for kids!! Highly recommended

Well you really are the best carvery I have been to in the south west. Having previously been in for the pies on our last holiday we had to visit for a roast and to say we weren’t disappointed is an understatement. With 5 different meats including venison, fresh veggies and roast potatoes to die for I would throughly recommend a visit.

Excellent value Sunday lunch carvery. We have been recommended the Old Wainhouse by quite a few people for a great Sunday lunch. It certainly did not disappoint. Great choice of five different meats at the carvery. All the choices we made were tender and tasty. Great choice of vegetables too and all hot and tasty. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back and will recommend to our guests.

Just had a lovely Sunday lunch carvery here today. An excellent choice of meats & veg, lovely traditional pub with very friendly bar staff. We were a family of 12 and 3 dogs I pre booked which was not a problem. The price of the menu was also excellent for the choice you had, 5 meats available including venison. I would highly recommend.

We had a fab roast here. Lots of quality meat options of generous portions. Some fabulous non boring vegetables to accompany and really friendly service. Puddings were homemade and beautiful. It really felt like a proper home cooked roast which is hard to do on mass. Opens past 2.30pm which is great for all the rugby families in Bude who have home games that finish at 4.30pm. Well done guys totally nailed it ! I think my daughter has now been three Sundays in a row.

Came for lunch and oh my we had homemade pie's,with the best vegetables and delicious gravy they were that good we came back for food every day till we went home. What a lovely pub with amazing food! I would happily drive from my home in east Devon for these pies!

Not only is the pub child friendly and dog friendly the staff were lovely and very attentive. We had the pies off their pie menu and there were fantastic. The mash potato was creamy and the veg served along was cooked to perfection. The portions were generous and we will definitely be back

We stopped here for lunch having failed to have lunch in Widemouth Bay. So glad we did. Really friendly lady serving, we opted for sandwiches which were fresh and delicious. Came with salad and coleslaw. Very reasonably priced. Nice old fashioned pub. Dog friendly too, not thst we had ours with us! The menu looked good too if you wanted hot meals there is plenty of choice. Will definitely go again.

The pub was extremely busy which is good to see these days. Staff were apologetic about delays but there was a great atmosphere and we enjoyed a drink while we waited. The food was excellent and priced very reasonably.

This pub is great. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and the food is excellent. Conveniently located on the A39, we stopped in for lunch on our way back to Bude from Boscastle. Highly recommended.

Rung The Old Wainhouse Inn at around 4.30pm hoping for a table for 3 at around 5pm. Lucky for us the lady managed to get us in. See explain it was carvery and a reduced menu which was fine with us. 2 of us had carvery which was absolutely beautiful. Choice of 5 meats, chicken, lamb, beef, pork and venison. They do 3 sizes so 1 meat, 2 meat etc. lovely fresh vegetables and great roast potatoes. The gravy was made from the stock and was nearly as good as my mums which certainly takes some beating. My son had the chicken burger which was equally as nice. Staff were attentive and service great. Nothing to much trouble. We will definitely be back again

We went for a Sunday carvery but hadn’t booked. Super helpful staff fitted us in straight away. Carvery was amazing!! Massive choice of meats including venison and lamb and reasonably priced considering the portions. Would definitely go again, highly recommended 😊

Great food, reasonably priced, all served by great welcoming staff so all in all a great experience. We only go once a year when on holiday down in bude but this is the second year and still great food (especially the ribs)

A cosy real fire added to the authentic feel of this traditional local pub. The friendly staff added to the warm welcome. Stakes cooked as ordered, puddings sticky & sweet. Lighter options available from a well balanced menu. The warm vibrant feeling of this night out will hold us until we return for sure. Stayed here for a night and really was impressed with the service throughout our stay. Lovely welcome and the room was so pretty and comfortable. Had dinner which was delicious, luckily they fitted us in as it was really busy. Dog friendly so there were some cute dogs in there too. On holiday for the first time in Cornwall. Called in here for lunch. Superb. Service friendly, quick and efficient. Food was brilliant. I had ploughmans, my husband ham, egg and chips. The ploughmans was just amazing. The cheeses were yummy, the accompanying salad, chutneys etc, warm bread roll..... it was brilliant. My husband's meal was freshly cooked and loads of thickly cut ham - delicious. Full Mark's. We shall be back!!

Not having eaten here in a while, we were asked to meet friends for a ‘thank you’ drink. We are all local and my crew landed first. Clear signage and a friendly welcome were what we were met with. Ordering drinks was super easy and great banter with person on the bar. Lovely little garden area outside for DD to play in. All great. Friends arrived, got drinks and we decided to head in for food. As it was a Saturday we expected a wait. No chance! Straight in, accommodated brilliantly. Menus arrived promptly, drinks ordered and arrived promptly. Orders taken professionally, food was quick to arrive, service professional but friendly with good amounts humour. Drinks orders dealt with quickly throughout the meal. We were checked on but not hurried. Considering how busy they were it was a pretty slick operation. The food was excellent! Beer excellent! Service excellent! We all had a fantastic night and can’t wait to do it again soon. Thanks for an awesome night out!

Big portions and quality produce.Staff are really welcoming and friendly, saw the owner take her time to stop and chat to everyone. All staff were working their socks off, as still very busy in September.We really enjoyed our meal, and will defo be going back again!Only thing that spoiled the evening was a rude customer who arrived late, ordered late and then complained the food took too long to come out! Me and my family of 6 stopped here tonight for some food having been turned away elsewhere or long food waits, welcomed in, big table for all of us to eat at. Everyone had starters and main courses and it was all freshly cooked delicious food. Didn’t have to wait very long and all got served drinks quickly too. The only thing that changed the atmosphere was a very rude customer abusing the staff with little consideration for the busyness and short staff as it’s no longer holiday season. Shame on them.

We had a reservation for 7pm on a Friday evening. The room we were sat in was dour but we have been in similar places while on holiday so not a huge problem. We ordered drinks, were served drinks and then placed a food order. We were then told it would be an hour for the food. Being told this after having drinks meant it wasnt a question as to 'is it ok' but more just a 'that's the way it is'. Obviously things are crazy busy in Cornwall this year but you need to give the customer the information at the appropriate time.When the food arrived (around 8.20ish) it was good.

The food is terrible, the room was not what we paid for, the bedding was stained, and nobody wanted to lift a finger to help us remedy anything. We were going to stay two nights but left after one in disgust and stayed somewhere else.

We were struggling to find somewhere to eat as we were staying at a nearby campsite and drove past here and thought, let's give it a try. It turned out to be the best meal of our holiday. The staff fitted us in no problem and were so friendly with us and our children. The lady who looked after us made sure we had enough drinks and food, and even made time to talk to my daughter about her water painting. It felt like we were part of the local clientele which made it feel even more special. The food was delicious and our children ate until they were full! Such a fantastic experience, we will be back when we visit again. Thank you.

Whilst staying down the road at the camping and caravanning club site we last minute decided we wanted to eat out ! Tricky in the middle of the summer!! I called ahead and they kindly found us a table for 4. I myself am a celiac and my son has multiple allergy’s we where welcomed the service was lovely. Clearly the staff where busy but had good service and where attentive and patient with my children. It’s very rare we can walk into places and have a meal let alone a 3 course one! Soup with a gf roll amazing ! The best chicken and ham pie I have ever had and pudding (NOT A BROWNIE!) great prices totally recommend!!!!

This pub managed to find us a table in the marquee on a Monday night, so we presumed from this that they had decent food. We were so wrong! The marquee sounds quite grand but you are on the car park with the a39 whizzing by. The service was friendly enough but when our food was clearly not good they were stumped as to what to do and mumbled twice about telling the chef. Beefburger and chicken burger were frazzled and chips tasted like the fryer was last cleaned out some time past. Steak was passable for a weathersooons type place but wasn't priced as such. I guess round here you can serve what you like and pack out your pub on a Monday in the school holidays. Rookie error on our part.

We were so pleased to be accommodated by The Wainhouse Inn. A party of 12 clearly isn't everyone's cup of tea in this area but The Wainhouse welcomed our booking and we were not disappointed.Outstanding service, outstanding food and all with a welcome. At this time I cannot say what the food etc was like until my friends visit finishes. I can however say that the attitude of the owner stinks. Instead of a calm phone call to mum to discuss a possible hiccup with payments she laid into my mum and managed to put her in tears. I went there today to find out what was going on (I'm an only child and very protective of my mum) only for said owner to almost square up to me whilst shouting in my face. I know the last 18 months have been hard for all businesses but surely a little decorum and a civil tongue goes a long way, especially in the southwest where a lot of trade is through word of mouth. I will willing place another review pending my friends feedback (good or bad) Oh and apparently this means I'm the lowest of the low for leaving a review here!!! Like I said word of mouth!!

So nice to have a dog friendly local pub, after a long walk I popped in for a pint of local cider and Lady made a new friend.

We arrived with our dog on a Friday evening around 10pm and the restaurant area was being cleaned. We stayed for one night here and had a comfortable night on a super mattress.Tea and coffee facilities were available in the room. Staff are lovely and can't do enough for you.A brilliant pub for mixing with locals. No head turning when we arrived tooIn all seriousness a nice place. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. I was even given a sausage for my dog too!We also went back thete the following sunday for a roasted dinner. It was as good as the breakfast. Free BT Wi-Fi and plenty of off road parking.

From the moment we arrived we received the most amazing and friendly service. The food arrived quickly abd was absolutely delicious. This is without doubt one of the best pubs we have visited and would thoroughly recommend a visit to anyone. Thank you.

Beef roast carvery - 4/10We went here as we read decent reviews online and were staying in the locality. When I booked I was told that there was a carvery plus dinner menu but when we arrived they were just doing carvery. We were sat right opposite the toilets which was unappealing. Roast was flavourless, bland and tough - 4/10.

We had booked the table earlier in the day and on walking in were approached immediately and our booking taken. When we returned for the meal we stood inside the doorway (as requested for Covid reasons) and were completely ignored by a member of staff some distance away who was chatting away with someone, possibly a customer). Eventually another staff member appeared and showed us to a table. We were sat near a family with noisy children but there appeared to be no alternative. At least we were near a lovely open fire (it was a cold day). The meal itself was fine as was the local cider! Parking was perfect outside.

We were passing though and decided to pull in for lunch. Greeted by a lovely lady who took our order. We ordered a cheese burger and chicken burger, both were tasty. Would recommend this pub.

Walked up from mineshop self catering, highly recommended with livestock for kids to enjoy, for dinner. Today I just couldn’t be bothered to cook! I was too busy playing hide n seek and Swing-ball with Littley! So what to do? We all wanted fish n chips and decided to try the takeaway offered at our ‘Local’. We knew the Sunday Roasts were AMAZING so why not! OMG! Delicious, flakey Haddock, crispy, light batter. The chips were definitely homemade and just gorgeous (dahrling!) also the tartare sauce was another homemade triumph! Portion size is extremely generous so great value for money. The service is truly brilliant! Looking forward to having another takeaway very soon! Thank you for ending such a beautiful day so fantastically!

Sue and the gang are still doing fab takeaways Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday carvery at lunch time, great they are still serving the community and serving great food, especially the "lucky" onion rings.

We had a meal here today after a few months since our last visit due to “lockdown “ restrictions yet the barmaid not only remembered us but also our drinks.......very impressed.The food was both delicious and reasonably priced. We could not have been made to feel more welcome and will definitely be visiting again soon.

After a very pleasant shopping outing with my Grandson we popped into the Wainhouse for a bite to eat on the way home. What a revelation! I must have driven past this place a thousand times and had no idea what I had been missing out on. Fabulous friendly staff, excellent food at a great price and a lovely warm cosy atmos on a bitterly cold evening. I had the Davidstow Cheddar topped burger. Its a very rare occasion I eat burgers outside of a BBQ situ but this was probably the tastiest burger I've ever had. Took me ages to finish as there was so much of it but there was no way I was going to leave a morsel. Delicious meal in every sense! Thank you Wainhouse for such a lovely evening. It certainly won't be the last! Xxx

Late in writing this review but visited in August during the post lockdown holiday visits. Found it to be a very nice place with good food and very friendly and chatty management/staff. They were following the guidelines in place at the time and did it very well.All in all somewhere I would recommend and hope to visit again when in the area

We came across this pub/restaurant and read a few reviews quickly before going in for a slap up steak dinner cooked perfectly medium with good seasoning too! My husband had a mixed grill and I stole his lamb which was equally delicious. Our friends tried a steak pie and mash very good and the gammon which was a fair old size and didn’t disappoint either! Oh nearly forgot the amazing onion rings perfectly oniony lol Finally such lovely friendly and chatty staff and nothing is too much, thank you all.

Great meal very friendly staff clean and Covid friendly will book again for later in the week unfortunately they had run out of jely however the ice cream was just as nice
