Went as a treat, that’s exactly what it was. Absolutely first class service and the food was incredible. I cannot wrap my head around how they make simple things taste so good! The wine flight was sublime too. I would recommend the old vic to anyone, a truly exceptional experience

This is high quality dining. I would say it is one of the top three restaurants in Sheffield. As the name suggests, it is in an old vicarage on the outskirts of the city. The place is immaculate and the service outstanding from the minute you step into the building. We had the Prestige Menu which is really halfway between a tasting menu and a standard menu in terms of portion size. The food is outstanding and clearly a lot of thought goes to ingredient selection, cooking and presentation. The recommended wine pairings were excellent and great value at £45 for five glasses. This is not a restaurant you spot in passing and drop in - it is out of the way for that. I suspect most customers come here following recommendations from previous customers.

I went to a friend's wedding there. It was a small venue but very beautiful. The service was excellent and the food was stunning and cooked to perfection. Lovely.

We drove up the gravel drive, as we walked to the door it opened and we were greeted with a quirky welcome. We were then showed to drawing room where we had pre-dinner drinks. We were then showed to our table by a lovely lady who explained to us what experience we would enjoy throughout the evening. The food was excellent and the wine pairings perfect. The restaurant was not busy on the night of our visit so the staff were very attentive. The whole experience was something I enjoyed and would definitely do again.

The 7 course tasting menu with paired wines was fabulous. We went as 2 friends as a Christmas gift from my friends Daughters. Everything was beautiful. The service was very attentive and delivered quietly with details of the food and wine given by the lovely lady at the front of house and the gentleman sommelier. A great evening for a special occasion with ample parking.

Can't fault it - superb service, great ambiance, food exquisite.

I visited The Old Vicarage wondering why they didn't have a Michelin star anymore. Much of my review is based on this. I felt the service was okay, it's better than your average restaurant. I think they hire people from the local college. This is fine but obviously they lack the polish! I also asked the main server a few questions and the answers were a 100% rehearsed. The food was amazing, it was all really delicious. One of the best meals I've ever had. I would definitely recommend getting the wine pairing! The sommelier was very knowledgeable and chatty. He was very happy to share all his knowledge about the different wines and his journey on becoming a sommelier. I'm not sure why they don't have the Michelin star anymore, I think it could be cos of the service but maybe the menu isn't very innovative. Although it is insanely delicious!!!!

We visited the old vicarage for a birthday treat. We found the menu to be very restrictive. We chose the 7 course tasting menu. We were told this was a taste journey only to find it was a salt fest. We left before the 7th course the 6th course just about finished us off. Even the yogurt sorbet was salted, when we asked for the wine list they brought an iPad to look at and then said it wasn’t up to date all in all not a nice experience.

What an amazing experience. I’ve wanted to visitThe Old Vicarage for a long time. A family birthday and anniversary gave us the perfect opportunity to go for a very special meal. Even the journey along the old driveway that leads to TOV adds intrigue. We were greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable front of house lady and after initial drinks, we're seated. We opted for the premier menu at £85. Additional wine flight was £45. The restaurant prides it's self on British produce that is seasonal. Every course was delicious and well thought out, combining fantastic gastronomic knowledge with lovely aesthetics, to deliver amazing food. The dining room it's self has a calm and refined air about it and hosts what I think was 10 tables. The decor was well thought out and was in keeping with such a grand venue. All in all, we loved every part of our evening and will return!

Absolutely Fantastic food and wine. There were six of us and We had the 7 course tasting menu with wine flight. What can I say all the dishes were flavoursome and just tasted wonderful. We had full explanations from the lady in charge. How the sommelier matched the wines so well I do not know but I am not a wine connoisseur but they were just perfect. The waiting staff were superb and the way they coordinated serving was impressive. We had a thouroughly enjoyable evening. We thought we were rushed at the end that’s why it’s not five stars. We will definitely be back.

This has to my favourite restaurant of all time, the food is always amazing and the Andrew's wine knowledge is breathtaking and he is so passionate. The food packs so much flavour and texture in every dish. This is a gem in not just Yorkshire but the UK

We were gifted this dining experience as a wedding present and on arrival found the Old Vicarage to be a beautiful venue with delightful grounds. On booking, they had been told I was vegetarian but seemed unaware of this on my arrival as I was presented with the meat menu. At the end of the meal we were told the bill would be produced. We were really taken aback as we had already discussed that it had been a gift. We were also slightly embarrassed as this conversation took place in front of diners in the main dining room. Both the food and the service was exceptionally good but at this level of dining it just needs a bit more attention to detail to make it a perfect dining experience.

Everything about this place is absolutely top-notch. The food is fantastic and the ambience is perfect. A lovely setting and very friendly staff. It also offers incredible value for this standard of restaurant. In fact I find it hard to believe there is anywhere better in the UK

From the moment we stepped through the entrance to leaving, the overall experience was superb. We were warmly greeted by a wonderful host who made us feel comfortable in the lounge with a whole host of knowledge for our pre-dinner drinks. Unfortunately, I feel this restaurant has gone down in quality since our last visit. The service was not as good. We ordered a wine flight with our meal at £45 per head, and the sommelier forgot on several occasions to come to the table to introduce the wine when it was served and when he did come he showed little enthusiasm. The food was nice, but I would expect a higher standard for the price and location. The decor is starting to look tired and in parts is water stained. I do not think we will be returning.

Absolutely great place, seasonal menu. Excellent wine list and sommelier. Don't expect to come here on a budget but do expect excellent service and a meal to remember.

While we really enjoyed the food here - the flavours were fresh and the presentation was exquisite, personally we found that the style of service was not the kind of atmosphere we would have chosen for a special occasion. The head of house was nice whenever we spoke to her, but the serving staff were silent and formal and would put the food down without saying a word. We prefer the style at other tasting menus we've been to where the staff are engaging, passionate about the food and explain what each course is - but at The Old Vicarage the silence as each course was served actually made us feel really awkward and uncomfortable. At one point we asked a question about an ingredient and the waiter didn't know what it was. Would recommend the food, but the atmosphere is more for guests who prefer the serving staff to melt into the background rather than be conversational.

What a gem! On Sheffield's doorstep too. From the moment we approached the entrance to the moment we left, the whole experience was elevated. I sincerely felt special. And the food was next level, we had reservations that perhaps it would not be quite so filling, but it was. The wine selection and drinks are really well put together, some cracking recommendations. And the coffee digestif was great too.

Been a couple of times in the last few months for special occasions. The food is high quality and very well presented. Wine matches perfectly. The service is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Beautiful surroundings. Classy place. Love it.

A very warm welcome on a wet and rainy evening. We were shown to a very tasteful parlour room where we enjoyed apéritif’s. After reviewing the menus we decided upon the prestige taster menu. A wonderful cornucopia of ever increasing delight. From a simple but tasty amuse bouche right through to a glorious local Derbyshire beef main not a single course disappointed. I can throughly recommend this place.

We visited here for dinner & was highly impressed. We all had the tasting menu, complete with the wine pairings. Each individual course was brilliant & the wines complemented each dish. One of our group doesn't eat seafood & they were every accommodating at changing that dish for him. The staff were extremely welcoming & very knowledgeable. Cant wait to return.

This was a real dining experience. The surroundings are beautiful and tasteful and the dining area is small, cosy and select. We had the tasting menu with the matching wine flight and it was all delicious and very flavoursome. The seven courses were quite small with the exception of the main roe deer course, but we felt comfortably full after we had finished. The ingredients complimented one another and the presentation was second to none. Compliments to the chef. The waitresses were polite and everyone was knowledgeable about the food and the accompanying wines and they were all able to answer questions we asked about both the food and drink. It isn't a cheap dining experience but certainly an experience to behold, be it a once in a lifetime visit or for an occasion to celebrate. You are made to feel special. The only slight criticism we had was with the Sommelier who tended to speak about the wines to my husband rather than to the pair of us. Even when I asked a question about the wine, he addressed the answer to my husband. I am equally as interested in wine as he is, and am especially knowledgeable about France and the regions he was talking about, having lived and worked in France for a year, so I was particularly bristled by his lack of awareness in this field. Otherwise, we would totally recommend the experience to anyone who wants to enjoy and celebrate any occasion in a unique way.

The crown may have slipped ever so slightly in recent years since the Michelin star was lost, but this is still one of if not the best restaurant in the Sheffield area. The food is excellent, the location and grounds are beautiful especially in spring and summer (albeit kind of close to nowhere), and the service is very good. As such any negatives are slight and need to be considered in the context of an exceptional restaurant aiming to be world-class. With this said the lounge and some of the waiting/relaxing areas would benefit from an update. The front of house manager was excellent but some of the service staff could perhaps do with a little more schooling in the art of silver service -- nothing major just not quite at the level you expect at an absolute top drawer restaurant. We had a great meal and a lovely evening and can't wait to get back

We went on 2nd July to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. We had the prestige menu and it was excellent. Carole is front of house and just the right person. I said I didn't want my lamb too rare and when it arrived it was perfect. I don't understand why this place doesn't have a Michelin star because the food is of such a high standard.

Although Tessa Bramley has been Chef Patron at The Old Vicarage for over thirty years, my relationship goes back even further, in fact another decade, so there’s a long history of fine dining, and I can honestly say things only get better. Swerving the three course option we choose the Prestige menu, a six course tasting option, with matched wines. Every course is a delight, exquisite flavours, elegantly matched and beautifully presented.

Went here for our anniversary, overall we were a little worried when they started bringing out small portions at the start, however they got bigger with each new plate… it was the perfect amount to fill us up nicely! Overall the experience was very lovely, romantic and just overall outstanding. The food itself was very unique and this restaurant 110% deserves its Michelin star.
