A really cozy and warm atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing. Everything was made perfectly with rich flavours and cooked in perfect consistency.

Slightly more expensive than justified, but a wild menu, fabulous cocktails. Everyone was happy with our meals and will definitely be back.

The family and I visited The Blue Stoops following a recommendation from a friend. We were greeted at the bar and shown to our table straight away. The staff were polite and friendly, and the place had quite a good vibe. Unfortunately, that is the only good thing I have to say. The food was terrible. There were seven of us in our party, one ordered a burger which she found a large piece of plastic in. We reported this to one of the staff who to be honest didn't seem too bothered. We then got hold of a senior staff member who apologised and offered a free drink as compensation. We said we wouldn't pay for the burger and they agreed that was fair. Four others of us ordered the Big Yakitori Sticks, two bbq chicken, one sweet chilli chicken and one big kentucky stick, when they arrived and we started to eat them we did a bit of food swapping because we thought we had been served the wrong food, we then realised that they all tasted the same, bland flavourless chicken. None of them tasted of anything. Not wanting to cause a fuss, especially after the burger incident, we ate up, grumbling to ourselves. The big shock came after we had finally finished and were sat chatting about the bland food, I spotted what looked like a hair on the bottom of one of the metal skewers. On closer inspection, there were multiple strands on all of them. I took some photographs and went to find the member of staff that we saw about the plastic in the burger. When I explained what we had found and showed him the pictures, he went to find who I'm assuming was the manager. She looked at the pictures and said " Oh, that just looks like some of the metal strands from the scourers that we use to clean them, they don't look like hairs!" After a short conversation back at our table as to whether we had eaten hairs or metal strands from the scourers, and pointing out that the chicken had no seasoning on it, the manager said "what do you want me to do about it" we said we don't want to pay for the burger or any of the chicken meals, at which she agreed. I'm sorry to say that this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had and would never recommend anyone to eat at this place.

First time we visited food was amazing, service was very slow had to chase for drinks. Second time we came for a friend's birthday having told them how nice the food was. How wrong could we have been? One meal served cold the second burnt, sent both back. Returned the cold food now hot, returned the burnt food raw!!! Thinking it's got to have been a different chef on each occasion. From the sublime to the down right awful in the space of 1 week is crackers. Not sure if we'll be returning.

Group of four glad we booked a table as it was very busy(sat teatime) excellent service great selection of beers and cocktails and amazing food not the cheapest gastro pub in the area but was worth every penny will definitely return

Newly renovated I have been twice both entirely different experiences. First time was a Friday night where it was packed out and impossible to even find a seat. Second time was on a Sunday where it was much quieter but still fairly busy. We have been back recently for my sons birthday and can say I was really impressed since it is under new ownership, the food was really tasty with good sized portions and the service was great 👍 I can highly recommend the sandwiches. The kids had a mocktail each which looked amazing and were reasonably priced.

Ate ther today, ordered, then was told no burgers...(should have been told this before hand) Ordered again order one came wrong, chicken burger came should have been a vegan burger, when it eventually came it wasn't cooked right still cold dhe left it. Dad ordered Turkey dinner he said it must have been standing in the kitchen since crimbo day, awful.....If I'd have ordered any of these they certainly would have known about it. Beef stroganoff we really thought we'd ordered adult portions not childrens ?..... Really disapointing we won't be rushing back....

There was plastic in one person's main meal and hair in two other people meal , Beyond this the starters and food themselves was very expensive for poor quality food cannot recommend in the least .

Part of the chilled pubs group and the food is as good as all the rest. However we typically go to the joiners arm branch which personally is much friendlier and bigger feeling like more space to relax. Love that you can pay at table but it is needed given your lucky if you can park in their car park as it is tiny so had to find alternative close by and walk so keep this in mind. It is a little tight to get in and around not great accessibility but they have done a lovely job if the space just not for us and will make a longer trip to Derby instead.

Lovely food, friendly staff and a lovely town centre pub with lots of atmosphere You definitely need to book in advance was our experience, but there was an event on in the town on the night we went.

We all had a sandwich with chips for lunch. The pulled pork ones were oozing with the pork, slaw and the chips were delicious. Very wide ranging menu, something for every taste.

Cosy little place with a nice atmosphere, the staff were lovely, the cocktails were fun! It was hard deciding which one to choose but I went with the mocktail. It was yummy. My sister had the ginger mocktail..be warned its strong! Blew our heads off but we like ginger. For starters we had the chicken popcorn that was delicious, my sister had the little selection of sticks. She said they were tasty. The mains were ok. I think next time I'd rather order lots of little starters instead of one big main, I just thought the starters were more flavourful. My daughter had the beef stroganoff, we swapped mains (I had the fish bun) as it was just too rich for her, and even I found it quite difficult to finish. I think the variety on the kids' menu is great though...very generous portions and the chips are lovely. We will definitely visit again.

Chose the wrong time to book. We waited behind a massive queue (for the food) and so the food was clearly hot-plate unfriendly. On the other hand, the service was excellent, the price affordable and the atmosphere was great for us. No real reason to make a complaint. I'd definitely go again... Just time it better with my previous experience.

Awful. We visited in July and the food and service was amazing. Visited a few weeks ago for a friends birthday and both were terrible. Thought it was a one off, visited again today as a group of 7 and was equally as terrible. The place was quiet so not even business can be used as an excuse. Bloke said he’d give us a few minutes to decide on food and never came back, we had to beckon someone over 20 mins later. Popcorn chicken was dry as a bone and charged £3 for some watery as heck katsu sauce (wasn’t told it was extra). £6.50 for 6 small pieces of chorizo that was luke warm and super chewy. Our friend ordered a fish sandwich without peas, upon opening it you could tell they’d put the peas on and scraped them off. They did replace it but said they’d be coming back with an extra portion of chips, never did. Everything was just meh, won’t be giving them a third chance, especially as it’s not exactly cheap.

Unfortunately my visit last week fell short of acceptable. I booked for two of us. We arrived on time, perused the menu for 15 minutes and ordered. It took over half an hour for a burger and a sandwich to arrive. It was the wrong sandwich, it arrived in a pool of peppercorn sauce, which we sent back but we did not have another half hour to wait for it to be replaced. This resulted in my friend having to eat alone which she did not enjoy. We weren't offered anything as an apology. The waiting staff just disappeared and left us to it. Even the offer of a coffee would have been something. We spoke to the Manager who took care of the bill for my friends meal and said she would sort some complimentary drinks if we were to return. Just a little disappointing.

Great meal, fantastic service. Portions are generous. The hanging kebabs are delicious and you get a choice of two side dishes. Highly recommend the fries with truffle oil and the green chilli slaw. Just one improvement - add a cask ale or two to the bar..

Superb service and the food was off the charts good. Expanding trousers are needed, as the portions are large and very filling. This was our first vist and it did not disappoint, the beers, cider and wines were all on point to match the service and food. Highly recommended and already booked in for my next visit

Always a good place to call. Weekends always busy but staff seem to cope admirably. Food good, beers/lagers good.

Beef stroganoff turned up cold (moments before the table next to us sent 2 out of 3 meals back because they were cold). It arrived back 3 minutes later clearly microwaved as the food was in exactly the same spot and the bowl was now hot. Once started my wife couldn't find the beef as it was 80% mushooms. The sauce was nothing like any stroganoff I've ever tasted, it was bland and grainy, with this we sent it back and refused to pay for it. I had the hanging chicken skewers and that was ok at best. The posh chips arrived cold and were returned to me a few minutes after complaining clearly microwaved again, they were advertised as posh chips with truffle oil and parmesan, I couldn't taste truffle oil and the parmesan was the stuff you shake out of the little shaker drums from the supermarket. The young lady who served us was nice and pleasant and very apologetic and I did say to her that it's not her fault it lays firmly with the sub standard chef. All in all our 31st anniversary meal was not what we were hoping for.

Was not happy, went out for a birthday meal,8 pm on a Thursday night, and they had no steaks at all so we drank up and left

Visited here for our anniversary and were very disappointed. Started off good enough. Quickly seated as we were the only ones in the restaurant and the first course was served quickly. The portions were large enough, even the children’s which my son had to choose from due to there being no steak available on the adult menu. My pit burger was missing the pulled pork and fried onions. It wasn’t unavailable as my daughters meal had it on. No big deal at all. My children also noticed that their glasses were dirty putting them off drinking from them. It was sort of stuck on bits you get in orange juice. Later in the meal we ordered a further 2 cokes (bottles this time) which took 20 minutes to get to the table and I am pretty sure they only remembered as another group had recently been seated and they were dealing with their drinks order. We also ordered dessert that took around 40 minutes to get to the table. For ice cream. When the server remembered about us after around 30 minutes they made an excuse that the waffle machine was playing up. However, I’m not sure how accurate his was and I am convince they had once again forgotten us. It was something they said about 15 minutes after they had cleared the table that leads me to believe they had forgotten about us. A sort of ‘oh, you’re still here, is everything ok’ sort of questioning you do when you expected someone to have left. I mentioned to my wife they had forgotten us but we gave them the benefit of the doubt l. Even when they eventually returned with our dessert order they managed to forget one and I had to show them the receipt. The waffle was undercooked too as though it had been rushed out. Surely if the waffle machine was playing up you wouldn’t have waited 30 minutes to let the customer know. Surely at some point you would have thought that perhaps the waffle machine had actually packed in and asked the customer if they wanted to change their order. One of the glasses that the desserts were served in also had what looked like dried on chocolate/chocolate ice cream on the stem that you get when it over-flows and not been thoroughly washed. Individually the above issues were not all that bad but when you take them all in on a single sitting then it does ruin the experience - especially a total of 1 hour to have 2 bottles of coke and 3 I’ve creams brought out to you. EDIT - just told my sister in law about our visit and her reply? ‘I could have told you how bad it was if I knew you were going!’

Went with a few friends for a change as it was a bit out of the way but I had heard good things. I enjoyed everything about it and booked my mum's birthday here this month on the back of it. Staff are amazing and food is fun and just delicious. Glad to be calling back again soon. Popped back tonight (18/08/23) for my mothers birthday and had a great time and the food/service was another level.

Just had a lovely meal for our daughters 16th birthday. The service and food were very good, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Portion sizes were generous prices reasonable. They brought out a free birthday dessert for our daughter which was a lovely surprise for her. Cocktails were very good and good value for money. Will deffinately be returning and would recommend

People were really pleased with the food, with your flexibility in catering for different tastes and requirements, the yakitori were great, and special mention has come for the chocolate covered strawberries! Nice food and drinks, the chicken kebabs were succulent and seasoned well. The skewers could've done with a bit more variety of veg rather than a whole onion but overall tasty. The chilli chips were good and not overpowering. Would eat here again.

Booked online and mentioned we had accessibility issues so no steps. There is a way out of the pub not using a step, but to get to the restaurant, there are steps. If you have severe mobility issues, be aware. Good food, decent portions and friendly service. £2.60 for a pint of soda water and a dash of lime cordial, though. Seriously???

Went as a group to say farewell to our boss. They have good indoor and great outdoor seating areas, dog friendly and will definitely be back.

A lovely pub with excellent food. Beautiful building. Casta and Boothroyd ordered 4 tasty eastern inspired nibbles. Would be 5* but card only payment so -1*. Had a pint of Sussex brewery Dark Star, Hophead. A good pint. Three real ales available. ( London Pride & Pedigree) Large courtyard beer garden which must get rammed on a weekend in weather like this. Doubt the car park can cope..use Ssinsbury's?) There is a covered area. Perfect summer Friday afternoon.Definitely recommend.

Very cosy pub, we were greeted by Matt who was extremely professional, helpful and friendly, he created us some fabulous cocktails. The service through into the restaurant was also very professional and well organised. All waiting staff were very friendly and we’ve had a lovely relaxed evening. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced.We will definitely be back!!

We had a nice meal eventually. Unfortunately when we went we had to wait over an hour to get our food. With 4 kids under 10 in our party this wasn't great. The waitress was really good though and kept apologising, they knocked 50% off our bill too which was very good of them. The food was great when we got it though, just a shame it took so long to come out.

The staff are so lovely at this place, always polite and helpful and everyone smiles! The food was great too and an Aperol Spritz was only a fiver too 🙌

I absolutely loved the place. I always thought to walk in but the busy life seemed to take up all my time. But today I had it enough to treat myself. Oh, I should do it much sooner! The food was beautiful and service was excellent. It wasn't busy therefore I could enjoy the place. Me and my partner we both agreed that The Blue Stoops must be on our regular list. Thank you for making our coronation weekend so much better!

It's good pub good food great staff like it

Not as good as Hunloke Arms in Wingerworth. First visit food was very good but next visit was poor. Hunloke is the same group but far better. Had the same to eat in both and they tasted very different with Hunloke coming out top. Even though I live in Dronfield I would rather drive to Wingerworth for a better experience.

Robotic or rude staff. Food ok but overpriced. Attitude of the kids that work there terrible.

First impressions of the pub and especially the menu were very good, unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. Shared the Greek lamb flatbread with my wife and both very disappointed. The flatbread was soggy and the lamb could have been anything as was completely devoid of flavour. For the main I chose the big Yakitori Jerk chicken stick. Again very disappointed, the chicken had no seasoning on it and the Jerk dip was horrible and like something you'd buy from Home Bargains. The Cajon sweet potato chips I had as an extra were nearly cold and soggy. The garlic mushrooms were OK for 2 or 3 mouthfuls but far to rich & sickly to eat the lot. Vastly overpriced for the quality (or lack of it) of the food. Would definitely not return

First time eating in The Blue Stoops by The Chilled Pubs Group . Booked on line , after using a Chat Bot to ask questions about being dog friendly , and was told that dogs were not allowed ( Only to discover from staff that dogs are allowed in the bar ). There is no phone number for this venue , only Chat Bot , and email . Worth booking during busy periods . Our welcome was warm and friendly , we were greeted by Daisy ( who took care of us throughout), along with Beth . Our table was located by the kitchen in the restaurant part of the Stoops ( Not the best location due to the amount of traffic too and from the kitchen ). Chelsea came to our rescue and moved us the the next table - which was very kind and made our meal more relaxed. Our food was freshly prepared , and presented beautifully. Tasted great and worked well with flavours and textures. Overall the service and food were super , lots of choice , and something for everyone’s tastes. Slight concern regarding the use of throw-away menus , and the use of plastic sachets condiments ( Ketchup , Mayonnaise etc ). *Note: Cash is NOT accepted here, payment via card / QR Code on tables which is payable by either Apple Pay , Google Pay ( Other Smartphone payment method)*

Today we visited the Blue Stoops (Chesterfield) for a family meal with the in laws and we left very disappointed. The lady behind the bar was rude. The there was lots on the menu not available. The mixed grills and the steak purchased came with no onion nests as advertised and we were told it was in the small print but we still can’t find that. The steaks were not served rare as requested and the young lad who collected the plates said how was your meal and when my wife said the steak was not cooked as requested and he replied with “oh you think” and that was it. We could not wait to leave which is a real shame.

You wouldn’t think this is part of the same chain as Hunloke Arms. The Hunloke Arms always provides quality food unlike this pub. I ordered fish and chips (on a plate not in a stupid box) and it arrived burnt so I sent it back, second lot came in a box and this time it was really greasy. Won’t be going back. I’ll stick to the Hunloke Arms.

Table not ready when we arrived and had to stand in the busy pub main bar and wait , table was booked for 8.15 . Main course dident arrive until 9.40. Food very average . Party next to us had 2 screaming young kids which you don’t expect at that time on a Saturday evening ( I have nothing against kids ) The only good point was the staff where very friendly.if you like the hunlock arms this does not compare at all .
