We've been to a lot of cafes with cats both in the UK and abroad. Some are flashy, others not so. This not-for-profit enterprise falls into the latter camp - the surroundings are basic but the cats are some of the most beautiful and loving we've ever encountered. They will happily sit on your cat... and climb on your shoulder. I didn't want to leave! It's the only venue I've ever been to where the cats have an outside area so bonus points for that. They are in a separate area to the cafe. We had very good coffee and an excellent margherita pizza made by Adam, the owner. He was very friendly and chatty. So too was Abbie, one of the volunteers, and we ended up sharing photos on our phones of our cats! It's good to see a cat cafe that isn't all about making profit - but cares for cats and people, as this venue is also a place for therapy - and what better therapy than spending time with those gorgeous cats.

Very very disappointing. Photos of food are very deceiving. Won’t be here again. PLEASE READ BEFORE DECIDING TO VISIT. - Arrived and the outside looks like a dump (see pictures). In fact, we had to triple check it was the right place as it looked like it was closed and had been abandoned. The inside wasn’t much better, looked untidy. This is literally just someone’s house that’s been converted. - Only one volunteer inside, she was nice enough but couldn’t deal well with the (fair and calm) criticism we made and looked like she’d just got out of bed. Completely unpresentable. - Very awkward/Odd/ quiet atmosphere, no one was else was there. The only staff member there was quiet/lacks confidence to be the only person welcoming and introducing everything. - We were told there’s no physical menu to give us because they’re re-doing everything on it and the only thing they have to offer us is pizza. Nobody wanted a pizza plus 2 of us had basic dietary requirements that wouldn’t be accounted for with a pizza. (Bare in mind we haven’t eaten today because we booked to go out to lunch here for my mums birthday treat) - In the end we only ordered water and coffee. The coffee in which came red hot in a glass and couldn’t be held?! Terrible service. - The toilets were dodgy, broken toilet seat, cat crates everywhere and cleaning equipment. Weird vibe. - To top it off we paid around £40 for the privilege of all of the above. We understand that goes towards the cats but we might as well have donated online considering the experience. - In conclusion don’t bother, it’s a dump and it’s a cafe that doesn’t give you any food choice! Pros - The cats. There was a great variety of breeds. But i’d highly recommend just going to another cat cafe. There’s a lovely one Stafford. (And York if you’re up there)

Unprofessional and unreliable! Booked a visit 11 days in advance of attending and recieved two email confirmations. When we arrived it was all locked up, rang and knocked three times and stood out in the cold 15 minutes waiting and no one answered the door. We went and sat in the car whilst I messaged to find out what was happening, rang the number I finally found and no answer. My partner went and knocked one last time and a young girl answered and said "sorry I didn't answer " by this stage we had been put off from going in so left. I finally received a message back apologising with the reason being "members of staff are off ill with a bug" We had travelled 45 minutes to get there and this was booked 11 days in advance, when you become ill and wasn't able to operate the cafe you should have cancelled bookings. This spoilt what should have been an enjoyable visit to see the cats on New Year's Eve. I won't be thinking of booking in future due to this and will look to other more better run cat cafe's.

This cafe is booking only! Booked in with my sister and friend to see the cats and have a bite to eat. The servise is so friendly and quick when it comes to receiving your drinks and food. Whilst waiting for food my friend and I played "cards against humanity". We had a freshly made garlic bread pizza and pepperoni pizza wich they they both tasted absolutely divine. For desert we had a smores pizza loaded with toppings which was the 1st ever dessert pizza I've ever had and it was so good the melted marshmallows melting in your mouth "I mean what more could you want". When I t came to the cat room they were all so friendly and nit shy att all to purch on my lap for pets and even climb on my back and shoulders cuteness overload. They all get along very well with there being the hierarchy within cats. The room was nicely layed out and clean when we came in. Whilst we were chilling out with the cats we say and played the switch together with was a fun experience . Overall the experience was a 10/10 with the friendliness of staff and inclusiveness. The owner is very passionate and caring with what he does and how he displays his care for every individual. Cant wait to book again. Highly recommend.

Cats are very friendly and sweet, and the staff take good care of them. The customers were very nice, except for the one who commented that a cat bit their hand for disturbing the cat's sleep. An orange cat beside me has been sleeping all the time and I have never touched it. I would say that if you don't want to be touched by a stranger when you sleep, you shouldn't disturb the cat's sleep. You should reflect on your behavior instead of blaming a cat that can't say how rude you are. If I were a cat, I'd bite you too, so I don't think that's a reason to give a bad review.

My first time at a cat cafe so didn’t have any expectations but this was a great experience. There was a lot of interaction with the kitties and most were comfortable with us being in their space. There were plenty of hideaways for the cats to escape to if they wanted a bit of distance but the more confident ones were happy enough to chill on us or next to us on the benches. There was a large variety of cats and you could see their little personalities within the time allocated. The owner was clearly passionate and loves the cats a lot. Some are rescues and some are used as therapy cats. A worthy place to spend a bit of money which would help the owner look after all the lovely cats and help with any medications and vet bills. I would definitely recommend a visit!

We loved our time at Cat Village North. Our host was really friendly and attentive. A lot of work has recently been done to improve the cat village. The cats were all lovely, and some came to sit with us. One even jumped down from a wall shelf onto my daughter's shoulders. The cat room and outside space are great for the cats, and they all seem to get along well. 1 star is missing for the smell. A little off-putting. But if you have a lot of cats, you're bound to have at least a bit of a pong... Overall, it is a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Visited today for the "cat cafe" experience. The staff were great and myself and two 17 year old loved the cat experience. My wife was a little disturbed by the condition of some of the cats, but as they ate rescues and also allowed freely to roam outside and back in, a few of them were a bit "dirty" in places, but with that many cats it would be almost impossible to keep them groomed and clean all the time, so I was OK with that. Just be careful when some if the less clean one or two want to jump on your lap. My only other slight quibble would be calling it a "cafe". We turned up, not having had lunch, with the expectation of buying some food, even if its only a sandwich, but they only served drinks. All of the above said it was a lovely experience and one I would reccomend and do again

We first visited Cat Village North (CVN) in September 2017, and have been returning on a semi-regular basis ever since (pandemic notwithstanding). In that time it has transformed from a “traditional” cat cafe (ie. a cafe with cats in it), to a multi-use space that includes a sanctuary for the cats, and a separate cafe/bar area. Having experienced the difficulty of trying to prevent the cats from swiping our food (which has always been excellent), I can certainly see the benefits of this set-up! Aside from the cat & cafe visits, CVN offers a multitude of different groups for the local community, from crafting to support groups to movie nights, and lots else between. Sadly we are no longer local to CVN, and so we stick to a weekly trip to see the cats. It’s usually quiet, and visitor numbers are controlled so as not to overwhelm them. In the five years that we have been visiting, we have befriended many cats. Some of them are long term residents who were present on our very first visit, but many of them have been taken in or rescued by CVN for a variety of different reasons. This has included many different breeds and leg-lengths of cat (who knew "sausage cats" were a thing?!?!). Some of them go on to live in the Village, whilst many of them have been temporary residents, who go on to be adopted. Most weeks the cats are excited to see me - wanting a fuss, a lap to sit on, or to play. However, there are days when I show up and the cats are far more interested in snoozing than they are in me, and I am ignored for most of my visit. That’s just the nature of cats, and always a risk that I’m willing to take. It’s worth bearing in mind that any visit is showing just an hour of time out of the lives of the cats, and one of the many hours that are put into the place both for the cats and for the community by the CVN team. It is our experience that the cats are well cared for, and much loved by the owner and the volunteers. It’s worthy of note that the owner runs the place single-handedly (and possesses some sort of Jedi-like ability to calm even the most feisty of feral cats). Why do we continue to visit regularly? They serve excellent coffee (with or without milk) and it is always such a pleasure to visit. Despite being a cynical misanthrope, I never fail to leave CVN without feeling a little better about the world.

The area for eating is away from the Cat area and very clean and comfortable. Some of the cats are timid, some cuddle you to death. If you're not familiar with Cats, don't stroke the belly, and always let them sniff you first before having a good stroke

I went with my children and my mum last week thinking it would be a nice afternoon out for coffee and food. We walked through the door to a smelly room. We had to sign a form to say we wouldn't pick the cats up etc. We then went into another room where all the cats were, it was smelly and dirty, cat biscuits all round on floor and benches. Most cats were asleep. I sat on a bench next to a sleeping cat, I stroked her head. She then moved her head and sank her 4 fangs in my finger drawing a lot of blood. The owner cleaned it up for me but since then I have to have tetanus and double strength antibiotics and a trip to hospital for an infection, I am only just being able to move my finger from the swelling. I will not be returning to the cafe .

Adam the owner is one of the nicest most genuine people and his lovely calm demeanour helps add to the peaceful environment at CVN. He remembers us each time we visit and goes out of his way to ask how we are etc. You can tell how much he genuinely loves and cares for all of the cats, and that's wonderful. I visit CVN regularly. It DOES tell you on the website that entry is £5. This goes towards feeding, the cats and keeping them healthly and happy . they have regular check ups at the vets and all are vaccinated and wormed. there are over 40 cats there, so as you can imagine they take priority. Every cat cafe charges an entrance fee.

I've been here a few times and it never disappoints, the food is great and the hot chocolate with cream is epic! The cats are well looked after and the volunteers are knowledgable and can tell you each cats character, The cats are chilled out and will interact with you jumping on your shoulders or laying around them like a scarf if you let them ( unlike other cafes I have visited). watch your food or you will have a nose in it but hey that's the fun. The work that the owner Adam puts in is selfless he really cares about them and it shows when he walks into the room the cats instantly go to him for fusses. The cafe is not just what they do they provide mental health groups, dating events, film nights and have a selection of beautiful therapy cats who visit various parts of the community. This is really a little gem of a place.Keep up the good work guys!!!

Hello,We had a lovely time and the cats were lovely and friendly. Very loveable. The staff were quite welcoming although we got told off for being late. I would have given 5 stars however there were two major cons:1) CASH ONLY - this was not iterated beforehand so it was a little difficult as I wasn’t prepared and had to borrow money to pay for the bill - thank goodness for internet banking!2) there’s an entry fee. Fair enough - However, there was no mention of entry fee on arrival nor on their website (I checked this after) so for 4 coffees and a sit we were charged £37! I should have complained at the time but being with family I felt that we couldn’t. I would not have minded in the slightest if I had been made aware of it first however it was quite a surprise to be paying £26 extra.

Great place for somewhere different to have a drink and bite to eat if you love cats. Very friendly, that includes the humans 😁. You do have to book in advance.

I have been once before, but it was the first time for my brother and sister in law. We enjoyed a lovely lunch in the company of very friendly cats who all looked very well. The food was good and the staff were pleasant and chatty wanting to tell you the news from the village and how rescue cats were getting along. We all had a wonderful time and would certainly go again.

Just visited here and it is a hidden Gem, the cats are soo friendly and the staff are really nice, they do a lot of work for the community. I can not comment on the food as we just ordered drinks but the hot chocolate with creme and marshmallows is a meal of its own. Highly recommended, will be back again!

Upon entry we had to take our shoes off to then put on some slippers, surprisingly they were comfy as I was hesitant about taking my shoes off. We were greeted with so many kitties! My god they have the friendliest cats I have seen (been to a few cat cafes and even my two are not that affectionate). We ordered some drinks and the cakes were amazing, The chocolate fudge warm with ice cream is to die for! They do such amazing work going into care homes and meeting patients. Would loved to see the therapy room but it is for the support groups only.

Adam and the team we’re just brilliant and couldn’t fault them at all. The food was lovely and everyone there were very polite and made us all feel really welcome. We will definitely visit again ! Highly recommend this place as it’s extremely therapeutic and beneficial to anyone with disabilities, mental health issues, families with children and the elderly. xxxx

I have been in three different cat cafes and this is by far the best one. In any cat cafe you are required to pay an entrance fee but this place has also quality food made to order, not just packaged snacks, everything is superclean and looked after, I love every little detail (they have cat spoons!). It is so nice that rescue cats have a place to stay, they might be a bit wary sometimes and they really like to play with the feathers. I met the owner and he is very friendly and runs several mental health dedicated sessions which is a great idea to help people. Hot chocolate is amazing and last time I had a supertasty salad and vegs quiche as well. Marian :)

Adam and his team really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome here and what better way to relax? With cats, coffee and good food in this cosy little retreat ❤️ Adam also does his upmost to help out in the community helping anyone or anything in need be it two legged or four! He has a number of projects helping out the elderly, mentally unstable and the lonely, and also helping rescue and re-home animals that are neglected or in need of care. I would highly recommend a visit here - you won’t be disappointed, it’s certainly a favourite of mine and has my full support

Adam text me back to offer me a visit to the Cat Village for therapy at the lose of my cat Marble/ Me and my husband went along and Adam made us very welcome. The Cat Village is a clean and relaxing place to be and visit. We met nearly all the cats and they are so very well looked after by Adam and the volunteers. This isn't a smelly horrible place to be it's very relaxing and clean and the cats are very well looked after. I think Adam and his team are doing a brillant job and the therapy cats are a great thing. I will be visiting again very soon and taking my friend along Thank you again Adam for this morning.

I first came to this cat cafe around 2 years ago and the wonderful staff and cats kept me coming back. The cats are all well looked after and it’s obvious they are treated as members of the family by Adam and the other staff. The food and drinks are always a 10/10, with new things being suggested each visit.

I’m taking time to write this because me and my family LOVE the cat cafe. Although it’s not only a cat cafe, it’s so much more! The owner of the cafe is really polite and you can tell he really loves and looks after the cats. I defiantly recommend it. You won’t regret it. They have a kitten room at the back where they look after strays and kittens that were left alone. Not only that but they do movie nights with the kittens and work with elderly, mental health, rescue cats and kittens and he also does self defence! I cannot wait for our next visit, Adam really does do some amazing work.

This place is fabulous, they have great food at good prices and the drinks are lush! I highly recommend the iced coffee with flavours. I have also been to many of their group projects including the coffee, cats and chats, the mental health support group and also their self defence class. Their rescue kittens are so cute too! Their workers are very nice and talkative, they love talking about the cats and letting us know all the cats names’ and their personalities.

The cat cafe is a wonderful place. I’ve been visiting most weeks since the summer when my brother and I first went to the Mental Health Support Group. The group has become an important part of my week, I look forward to relaxed time playing with the therapy cats and being able to process my week with Adam who cares a tremendous amount both about the cats and about supporting people to achieve mental wellbeing. The proceeds taken at the cafe enable Adam and his team of volunteers to run more support groups and visits with the therapy cats.

I Visited this place with my family because we all love cats but I was shocked and appalled by the state of the place, dirty and smelly, the owner called Adam was rude and a vile person he just wanted our money and didn’t seem to care about our experience or the little kitties he was very controlling of the staff who were lovely but he was not very nice and made my family feel very uncomfortable he wouldn’t except card payment just cash which was dodgy has he could not give me a receipt makes me wonder if the money goes to the poor cats? The cats were scared of this man and there was not enough room for them all I could hear cat noises and cat cries from upstairs too which was strange and worried me to what was hidden upstairs. These cats look like they need rescuing from him and that awful place. My children were sad when leaving worrying about the little cats that were very scared they saved all their pocket money up just to be left worried and never wanting to go back. Do not go this place. I hope the cats are ok however the owner does not deserve them and the place needs a clean and the cats a proper loving home in a safe environment! The food was expensive and tasted like cat litter full of cat hairs too, we didn’t eat it but paid anyway to help the cats out. -100 out of 10 this dump hole

My friend and I visited last week and were really happy to see all the cats relaxed and chilled out. The staff were very friendly polite and helpful. The coffees were amazing and the cats loved to play with their toys. They are all beautiful fluffy bundles of delight and are well looked after. all of them apart from two, were rescued by the owner, who continues to rescue and re home cats and kittens regularly. They also do care homes and hospital visits with the therapy cats. So well done them and Thankyou for a lovely visit which I will remember for a long time.

This is by far one the worst cat cafes I’ve ever been in. The cats seem like they are fine however the place stinky which is annoying as I feel that could be easily resolved with just some General cleaning it’s not that hard. It put me and my family off as it makes you not want to eat! It’s very small for the amount of cats that are in there and they don’t seem like rescue cats either. After all that I don’t expect to be spoken/looked at or made to feel uncomfortable when we payed to come in like everyone else!

I had the pleasure of visiting Adam and his wonderful cats, today (16 Oct 19). Adam and his staff were friendly and polite, the cats were very playful and fun, playing with a variety of their toys, the one hour i visited went by very quickly, both the coffee and atmosphere were very good, the whole experience was excellent, I would go again and recommend the 'Cat Village' experience.

I have visited the cafe on a couple of occasions and both times have found the place quite uncomfortable. The first time we were left 'caged' for about 5 minutes waiting for someone to come and let us in, which is an understandable precaution to take when the cafe is on a main road but at least allow access promptly. The manager (I believe) was very dismissive when we were asking him about the cats, would rather sit on his laptop in the cage ignoring everyone around him. Staff were generally friendly other than that. Food is okay but is fairly steep in price when you factor in that you pay £5 to enter (per person) and £2.50 per additional half an hour. If you want to eat as a couple you're spending at least £30. Finally, as indicated in previous reviews, my partner messaged the cafe about their mental health event - given the nature of the event you would think it would be of priority to respond in a calm, helpful manner - nope, just ignore the request and leave it on read on Facebook. I would give them the benefit of the doubt had it not happened on two occasions. I would suspect if the query had been about putting money in their till a response would have been more forthcoming.

Out of the cat cafe's I have visited, this has to be the best. To have to remove your shoes and put special slippers on that are hygienically cleaned after using, before even entering the cafe, is the first indication of how the welfare of the cats is uppermost. The whole cafe is so clean and furnished for the comfort of visitors and cats. The cats are so happy, friendly and playful. They are in charge, so expect cats up on shoulders as well as knees lol. The cats have so many experiences to enjoy in there and there is a special room where some of the cats are trained to be therapy cats. The cats are all rescue cats and are looked after so well. The owner is a really lovely gentleman who is also a trained chef, so you can get a great meal and drinks here as well. Normally in cat cafe's you get pot noodles and cake, but here there are wonderful refreshments on offer. The atmosphere is so relaxed, happy and cosy, you just want to spend more than an hour here. Such a wonderfully happy place, would highly recommend to everyone.
