This hotel is shocking unless you don’t spend times in other hotels. I booked a luxury suite what a joke an ironing board with no legs, a kettle no coffee machine no bat robes no slippers the bar below raving until 1AM although closes at 12 for none residents I was told what time I had to take breakfast, no water in the rooms. Look for a luxury suite you should provide bath robes, bottles of water, better toiletries, a real ironing board, a TV in the bedroom, a modern tv in the suite lounge not one from 1995, all on all for £140 Shockingly bad wasn’t even clean I moved the bedside table to iron on the floor and the dust on the carpet changed the colour. Never again Never again Never again go to Sheffield on a brand new hotel with better facilities for half the price it’s that bad we will leave without having breakfast

Met friends here for brunch and it was really nice - there was plenty to choose from - I had poached eggs on toast which were cooked perfectly, the coffee was also good. The only annoying thing there was two very noisy children who obviously thought it was a playground running up and down the restaurant which isn't any fault of the restaurant, just bad parenting!

We noticed recently that The Manor House does breakfast and as we were meeting a friend for a breakfast one Sunday morning, settled on this restaurant. We all wanted a light option and there was plenty of choice. We had poached eggs on toast, smoked haddock and poached eggs and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. All were good, especially the poached eggs, which were perfectly cooked and the staff were very attentive. Also the food was quite reasonable. The only downside for us, and this is nothing to do with The Manor House, was that there were 2 very noisy small children, who were so loud, we struggled to concentrate on our conversation.

Well, where do I start?? We decided to come here as a couple for a celebratory meal. We sat down at the table and ordered our drinks. We were then asked what we wanted to eat, which was fine and good. However, during the wait (which was about an 1 hour) the female from the couple next to us had to send her meal back because it was cold. The staff then went to make her a new one (which was good service) however, left the male party to carry on eating his! By the time the new dish was cooked, his would have been cold as he decided to wait for his partner to eat. I think they waited around 30 minutes for it to be cooked. Also, during our wait another customer went up to the counter to complain about the wait and to see how long it would be as I think they were waiting for about 45 minutes. Bear in mind there were only three tables in for food including ourselves. Finally, our meal turned up and it looked nice. We both ordered the chicken supreme ( be aware the jus was very salty!) I didn't think anything else could go wrong until I found a black hair in my stuffing!! This couldn't be my hair as I am mainly blonde! I then called the waitress over and explained that I found a hair in my meal and said I would like it taking away. Due to the service and finding this HAIR it put us both off our food so asked for them to be taken away. During this time the customers who complained about the wait decided to walk out. We then waited 20 minutes and still nobody came over to apologise to us. We wasn't going to wait any longer so we got up and went over to the counter and explained how terrible this service was and the two young female members of staff explained they hadn't got a manager in and basically didn't know what to do, they both stated it has been terrible service and has never had this many complaints before. So, the problems at this restaurant are: - very slow service - need better chefs who can cook and know what's cold/hot. Also, to wear a hair net! - management needed or staff trained to know that integrity is to be used and they have responsibility for the service repair side to it. We will NOT be returning here again!!!

Back to my roots.... Sorry it's taken a while to review this lovely place.I have stayed here before and rated the rooms, this time when I was home my family put me up. However, I asked them if we could book to come back to the restaurant over the Christmas period. We came back on a Tuesday over the Christmas period and they had the Christmas menu available along with a shortened tapas and main course menu. Whilst we was there we went for the Christmas menu. All 4 of us thought it was fantastic, it was very tasty and value for money, it was a 3 course which included mulled wine and tea/coffee and mince pies. I especially enjoyed the pate for starters and duck for mains along with the amaretto mousse for dessert. You got plenty of veg and potatoes and we left felling extremely full and enjoyed the food very much, (to the fact we popped in for lunch whilst in the area and the jackets are to die for). The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was great.Keep up the hard work.

A whole catelogue of mistakes and dissapointments from our evening meal. Arriving, having phoned and booked a few days prior, to be told they have no knowledge of our booking! We should have just left then. We were a small party of friends going for the Christmas menu. It was clear very quickly the place seemed to be run by inexperienced young staff who hadn't been giving enough training. I don't blame them directly for their lack of service, they were polite but clueless, it very much seems lack of training. We were left without any offer of a drink for ages. We eventually had our order taken for food and drink, starter was OK nothing special. The main came without them clearing the starter plates so all a juggling act. Main was ok except we were given a bowl of what looked like left over veg and under cooked potatoes with no serving spoons. Our veg looked so poor compared to other tables around us, it didn't taste great either. Our mulled wine glasses were never cleared, just left to one side of our table which wasn't pleasant. Desert came and one of them tasted awful. After a few spoons another friend tried it to agree the sauce was completely sour and extremely off. It was very slow to rectify this and finally a different desert arrived which was much better. For the rest of the evening though the awful taste lingered. Such a dissapointing night out for all of us when trying to support local business.

Having pre booked their special Christmas menu, we anticipated this would aid the kitchen and the speed of the food coming out, we were mistaken.Taking 45 mins for our starters to arrive, the portion sizes were 'delicate'.The waiting staff appeared to be inexperienced and whilst trying to do there best the service wasn't up to standard. With only 5 tables eating and 3 staff this service should have been slicker. The main course was pleasant, plenty of turkey although the veg was a little limited and over cooked.Pudding was the best course, but others in the party had under cooked pudding and tasteless mousse. All in all the food & service was little disappointing the lighting was to bright what good job the company was good.

Unable to find steak on the on-line menu I initially thought the restaurant did not do steak at all. However, after a brief phone call to clarify the situation we booked for the Wednesday Steak Night. Two steak meals with various sides and a bottle of wine for £27. That’ll do nicely. The Manor is a pleasant mix of traditional and contemporary décor which gives a nice cosy feel as you enter. There was a large, fairly noisy party already seated when we arrived but the waitress did her best to find a quiet corner for us but owing to the size of the room, this was not really possible. We ordered our meals and, even though they were very busy, our meals arrived within ten minutes of ordering. The ample rump steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered. (Thanks chef). There were plenty of chunky chips for me but rather disappointingly taste - free dauphinoise potatoes for my wife (needed more garlic – the potatoes, not my wife.) We both enjoyed our meals and the bottle of Chilean Merlot was very drinkable. The waiting staff were friendly and very efficient. Well done. All in all, for the price, a great meal in pleasant surroundings. We definitely would recommend this place and hopefully, we will return before too long.

Waited 45 minutes for someone to take our order. Our food came over an hour after we'd arrived. Such a shame as, when it came, the food was ok, despite some unusual flavour combinations. We went for the tapas menu from which we chose dishes including patatas bravas (delicious); meatballs (creamy and with mushrooms), bruschetta (mayonnaise, smoked salmon and capers: odd!); prawns (garlic with sugar snap peas!). Be warned, if you're looking for authentic Spanish tapas, this isn't the place for you.

You can't deny that this area of Dronfield is pretty, with its stone built buildings it's a lovely area to have a little walk around on an afternoon. The Manor House is no exception. It's a wonderful mix of traditional and modern which sets a nice atmosphere to dine in.All staff were attentive and were even happy to swap my drink when I ordered the wrong thing. The menu is varied but we had gone there especially for the tapas as we had taken friends who had never had tapas before. Although the food was delicious, the choice of Tapas was very much English, not traditional Spanish. It was a nice change and we very much enjoyed it. The only small comment for improvement would be the staff recommendation on how much to order. They recommend 5 tapas per person if you are hungry but not famished. We ordered 7 per couple and still had way too much food. The pasta tapas in itself was a full meal.Either way the bill was reasonable so it didn't matter too much but could be a little off putting for some.Had a lovely time thank you Manor House, we will be back :)

It was a Monday night so we expected it to be quiet and it was.The problem was that the staff appeared to expect that as well and wanted to clear up asap. We went in at 6 ie.early! We did not like them clearing tables of things s if they believed that no one else was coming in later. The staff conversations were too loud and the place too cold and draughty. The place seemed to lack a manager that night to teach them how to do it. Living locally for many years I have considered The Manor House pub one of the best. In recent years there has been a definite decline in the quality of food served. My last few lunch visits being even more disappointing. On two visits I had jacket potatoes that were rock hard on the base and only just warm. With limited salad garnish. Our last visit a tuna steak. This was again practically cold and somewhat overcooked. On what loojed like bag salad. The biggest worry was when it arrived in minutes; so this was obviously not cooked to order, just sat waiting. But the reason I've been prompted into this review is because of our friends lunch which was just a prawn sandwich. This was seletcted on sliced white bread as it need to be specifically soft for her diet due to ill health, so it was important not her being pedantic. On arrival the crusts were very hard (not just fresh bread crispy, but hard) and she removed them but on tasting the sandwich also did not like the tasteless prawn sauce which spoiled the sandwich and she decided to leave it. After a few minutes we were asked if all was ok. We mentioned the sandwich to which the reply was 'sorry about that'. On returning a practically full plate they again had the opportunity to check with us if all was okay and deal with it. They did not comment. So when we ordered coffees we complained about the sandwich and stated she returned a full plate. On checking with the chef the response was "well it was fresh today. But we'll deduct price of 2 coffees". The attitude and service to our complaint was poor. Though the staff were pleasant and always are. This is just poor, uninterested service. A now also an uninspiring sandwich menu. And not the cheapest pub in Dronfield. At which point I'd like to state this is the only pub that has ever charged me for soda water. All 3 of us agreed that day that there's been a decline in attitude and quality and it's unlikely we'd eat there again without some drastic changes by the establishment. If you can get a sandwich wrong!!

I'll be positive to start with - it's very cheap, and the staff are friendly, albeit totally inexperienced and not trained at all. It's all down hill from there I'm afraid. When the booking was made we specifically asked about the children's menu, only to be told on the night that a children's menu wasn't offered on a Saturday. To be fair they did subsequently offer the kids menu, but the pizza was two slices of French bread with tomato sauce and cheese on. We ordered the tapas to start - just awful. Thai fish cakes that were all potato, yet Thai fish cakes shouldn't have any potato in at all. Belly pork that was dry, whitebait that was soggy - all shocking. Bread was ok.The main courses were the real problem though. I have never seen grey steak before. Whoever was cooking that night clearly has no idea how to cook a steak - it had been shown a luke warm pan at best - no seasoning, not sealed on the outside and just raw in the middle. Also ordered the pulled pork burger but without the BBQ sauce - to which we were told that it would be dry without it. Excellent sales pitch! Even my rudimentary cooking skills allow me to cook a moist burger. My daughter had a pudding that was actually ok. Thought restaurants like this had long gone - sadly not. Having seen other bad reviews I already know that the owners are in denial and are likely to post a strong rebuttal. We did complain on the night so they should be aware of the issue. It matters not, we won't be back.

At 10.35 they came to take our order but before ordering thi checked that there was enough time for them to prepare it. He checked with the kitchen and returned to advise me that there was not but they could make me a bacon sandwich. When the sandwich arrived the bread was like a door step the minimal bacon inside was under cooked and I can honestly say that as a business man who travels the country this was the worst bacon sandwich I have ever eaten, the service was diabolical Bryn Jones

We always enjoy the food at The Manor and its surroundings and I decided to take a friend from outside the area who hadn't been for years as the tapas were back on the menu.We arrived just before 7 which enabled us to take advantage of the (5 tapas for £25)My friend chose mussels which was a full bowl and beautifully cooked,I decided on Thia fish cakes which I love but they were sadly as thin as pancakes and such a tiny portion that I would not advise anyone to ever make the same mistake! Our other three choices of prawns, chicken and?.. we're average portions but I honestly wouldn't want to be paying the normal prices for the portion we received. The sweet potatoe wedges were gorgeous as was the coffee after.People next to us ordered the fish cakes and were so horrified at the miniscule portion they sent it back and complained bitterly as they were paying the normal price too and like myself expected a sensible size and thickness so you felt you had tasted it!I would advise this to be taken off the menu quickly if you can't get the portion /size appropriate for the money as I enjoy coming and will return but others won't which is a shame.

The food was generous and the service was good also. The menu over Xmas is a little limited and there is an element of complexity in actually working out what you can order with a 'Three Courses Only' Xmas menu option, Tapas or Tapas starter and a main. But the food was tasty and hot.

I enjoy coming to The Manor for a quiet lunch with friends, family or my husband. I particularly like chilling with my daughter over a hot chocolate (lots of whipped cream and marshmallows) after school. And the staff are lovely!

We have been going to the Manor ever since we had our wedding reception there 29 years ago! When they change into the current format it was with some trepidation that we went to try it out. We have now been twice and on both occasions we had a very nice time and some excellent food. The tapas is really well done and a good way to sample a number of different dishes without exploding. (could get very messy).I would thoroughly recommend the Manor for either a special occasion or just an occasional treat.

Been for lunch, nice typical pub food, the evening when it turns to tapas, very delicious. Also nice as a nip in coffee shop, can't fault it really

this is a lovely little place, really friendly and attentive staff. Only downside I would say is some of the tapas items, whilst very well presented, were a little bland for my liking. I have eaten here a few times (non-tapas) before and always thought it was excellent so maybe I just didnt order very well - and the rest of my party thought it was great - so maybe just me, but for example. the meatballs were a bit dry and could have done with a little more sauce. on the plus side the teriyaki beef was outstanding, and I am told the mussels were great also, Good choice of ales, and a nice realxing atmosphere, will definitely return

We have visited the Manor House many times, and find the quality and choice of food excellent. The staff are very pleasant and friendly, and are very helpfull in describing the items on the menu.Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available, our favourite time being early evening where there is a great choice of meals at 'early bird' prices. There is no reduction in portion size or quality, and an offer on Tapas is also available. The bar area is very comfortable, and ideal for a pre dinner drink.

I regularly visit The Manor House for an extended lunch with my wife. The variety of homemade soups and rustic breads are superb as are the delicious and beautifully presented creations they call deserts. The pair of us regularly enjoy panini creations. The sumptuous melted blue cheese and mushroom having been my vegetarian wife's choice more than a dozen times. (Over the months of our visiting she asked me to emphasise.) From the light meal menu I recommend also one of my favourites the chicken fajita and a side of delicious thick-cut chips. I HIGHLY recommend this place for its great relaxed atmosphere, its exceptional service and the quality of the food. I understand that the accommodation is also very good value for money, particularly in a place as beautiful as Dronfield, where the birds have a lot of happy songs to sing each and every morning.

This was my second visit and both visits have been brilliant. Great menu choices and brilliant value for money. Service is fast and the staff a knowledgeable and attentive. We also ate here around Christmas and the meal was one of the best I have had anywhere and fantastic prices for a three course dinner with all the trimmings! Have recommend to friends and family since. Great for couples and family groups.

This is the third time we have eaten at this hotel and we remain slightly disappointed. The tapas menu stated a dish using French brioche bread. The chef obviously didn't know what brioche was neither did the waiters. We questioned the waiters and they liased with the chef and then proceeded to fob us off by saying that the chef had made a home made brioche and used it for various dishes including my partners burger bun!! The chef did not make an appearance and we found this unacceptable as he or she relayed messages via the front of house team.

Lively noisy outlook for party groups, but expensive for what little you get, bottled wine could be less pricey

Firstly, we did arrive less than 10 minutes late, but we were immediately told that all steaks had been "binned" so we were limited with our menu choices. The waitress was excellent and certainly made the most of what she was working with. And did so with a smile. However, the managers attitude stank. When a complaint was raised with her, she was rude and aggressive natured. The restaurant was a let down based on the previous reviews that I have read, and based on previously party members' previous experiences there. Myself and other members of the party will not return at the very lease until management changes.

We visit this restraunt quite regularly for lunch in the week so were glad to get the opportunity to visit at night on a weekend to meet friends we had not seen for a while. We were not dissapointed, I had the Teriyaki Beef starter folowed by the Venison Duo. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and were delicious. No room for sweet! The rest of the party all had different meals which looked fantastic, everyone enjoyed what their meals. Customer service was excellent, as usual, a great night out.

A party of ten booked for a birthday lunch at 1pm.Table reserved, we settled down to relaxing chats with each other. At that time there were no other diners in the restaurant. The young staff, extremely well attired, could not have been more charming or helpful. From a good choice of three or four meals per course, choices were made. Especially nice to see was moules mariniere which was a favourite with three diners. The starters took ages to arrive for which the waitress apologised. Excellent though they were, the main courses - all typical English Sunday lunch fayre took even longer. Still no more diners in the restaurant. With pork on the menu, apple sauce was requested to accompany. To be told that the restaurant had run out was a major disappointment as there is a Sainsburys within a mile of the hotel, open and available to sell cooking apples or jars of apple sauce! It was a most pleasant Sunday lunch and the meals overall really good value for money. Thanks again to the waiting staff for their excellent service.

We stumbled across this hotel through friends who recommended the lunch time menu and draft beers,it didn't disappoint, wines and draft beers, lagers at affordable village prices, menu was varied with basic/traditional light,Sunday roasts and selection of choices that were appealing. The down side was the atmosphere, very quite,no TV and background music, but all in all not a bad location that has something for everyone,s thirst or appetite.

The Manor House has never disappointed...As a regular visitor to Dronfield I have often complained about the lack of good restaurants, until that is, I was introduced to The Manor House. There has always been a great choice of food, which has always been delivered to perfection (and I am a particularly difficult customer!). The staff are exceptionally friendly, and nothing seems to be too much trouble (I asked for a bit of a combo of two dishes from the menu)....I would absolutely recommend the Mussels which came with warm bread & we teamed up with a very nice (and reasonably priced) Chardonnay. If you are after value for money, their Thursday night bottle of wine & nibbles is great, along with the relaxing atmosphere it was a very nice start to my long weekend.

Very nice pub/hotel/restaurant in delightful Dronfield. We had food from the tapas menu which had lots of interesting dishes which were beautifully presented but all a bit bigger than I was expecting. However, I would certainly go there again and order less! The staff were delightful and the ambience warm and friendly.

Really poor meal. One of our party had to wait two hours for main meal as didn't have starter. The rack of lamb was under cooked. Had to ask for a steak knife to cut. Forgot our side order..came three quarters of way through meal. Generally very slow service. Will not be returning.

This used to be a really nice place to eat, not sure whats happened recently but the standard of food has gone down ,while the prices have gone up.This steak night is excellent value ,but the quality is not what it used to be.I think it's trying to be something it's not ,it should go back to the way it was when it first opened, which was great value tapas .The plus side is the staff are still as friendly as ever. One dish I would recommend is the fish and chips absolutely the best I have ever had.I would try it again sometime but it's just a bit hit and miss recently ,were as it used to be superb.
