Cold food tried to reheat . Just nasty

Having used the hobby horse on numerous occasions I honestly can say we have never been disappointed there is always a good selection of food you get nothing but the best service from the staff

Never had a complaint about this place to eat in or order love the staff great food and service they always pay attention to requests in the notes just a smashing job all the time thank you

Absolutely average, my cauliflower starter was cremated. The steak wasn't much better. The bar staff were nice enough, but she was drinking a pint of coke whilst serving. I probably won't return, unfortunately.

Hadn't been here for 20+ yrs but my daughter said that they did a lovely steak. Err don't think so!!! I had sirloin and asked for it to be medium/well. It was so chewy and loads of hard fat.Had difficulty cutting it. In the end I gave up. I only ste the chips and mushrooms. I reported it to the server who didn't look at me and just mumbled I'll inform the them?! Didn't get a response from anyone before we left. Safe to say I will not be visiting for another 20+ years!!!

The food is excellent, and I highly recommend the breakfast buffet for only £7.49 a great bargain!

Lovely food at affordable prices

I went this sunday at about 6 with my grandma and mum, the bar was very busy how ever the service was amazing in the evening, we ordered two carvery’s and a mixed grill, upon getting the carvery there was a woman (assuming a chef??) cleaning up at the carvery which was a lovely touch as she was extremely chatty, when the mixed grill came out we were served by a lovely girl who asked if we needed anything else and to let her know if we wanted anything more. Over all atmosphere is lovely, food is consistent and staff are wonderful!

The food was awful. The mix grill was nearly uneatable. The steak was like rubber . Chicken mix was hard to hurt the roof of the mouth . Burgers was like a cheap version. we were there for a birthday, and it spoilt it .

Awful service behind bar to order food and drink, when 3 staff in glass cleaning room chatting, ordered food to be told the fish is some unknown one from India and probably tastes awful, by the girl on till. Food was OK, then qued again for 10 minutes to order 1 desert toffee fudge cake , 25 mins later went and asked how long it takes to cut a slice of cake and pop it in the microwave to warm, wrong cake bought to table , choc fudge cake to be told that we have no toffee fudge cake the one in the fridge is just for show. Good job no chocolate allergy. Accepted the cake but table was not cleared of dirty dinner plates so cleared them myself, didn't get a thanks, wasn't offered an apology, or anything else, good job she came to clear the gravy or they would have had to clean the table properly. Don't try to call they don't answer and a nightmare to book online, . Used a voucher for part payment and blue light card, wish I had gone elsewhere instead of wasting my money, place is dirty, food all over floor tables sticky, god knows what the kitchen is like., wasn't even that busy. Awful place. Don't use the conservatory or the upstairs seating, no staff, or not enough. Bonus they put elec car charging in the car park. Lol.

Welcomed with a smiling face on reception and ushered to the table no problem. Food (starters)came out quickly. Carvery was lovely. Pudding was a step too far but staff were happy to box this for me. Could not fault it. Every staff member was pleasant and welcoming

We ordered a click and collect carvery. It was so yummy and saved having to book a table. It was great value for money and the amount of food put into container was more than enough. Thank you for amazing food. We were served promptly and politely, dispite it being very busy in there.

Great relaxing atmosphere, the food was exceptional (had the carvery) the soup was tomato and red pepper very tasty and smooth, give my compliments to the chef (Callum). Will visit again.

Have eaten here a long time ago. Been back today and had two Large carvery not both for me two desserts also not both for me and a couple of pints each all for less than fifty quid. Hopefully be back again soon.

Great menu options! Great value for money. Eat here regularly as you cannot go wrong. The staff are lovely. Every interaction with them has been friendly and helpful. Really good vibes. There's a great area for kids to place and there is plenty of parking outside (free parking). They even have charging stations for electric cars. Food is good and their cake away options are not to be missed. Toilets are always clean and kept well. I will continue to eat here regularly due to the excellent customer service and lovely food. And they offer discounts for blue light and have some other schemes so do check before you go as you might even be able to get a discount.

Perfect meal to celebrate my wife being breast cancer free for one year.

Stopped off after chauffeuring at a wedding and was greated by Gary who was an absolute joy to speak to. A warm and inviting atmosphere. Being midweek I wasn’t sure on how the carvery was going to be and I must say after a days work it really hit the spot! Thank you will definitely be returning.

I went for a meal with my son daughter-in-law and grandchildren, we were meet my a member of staff who was very polite and found us a table, the service was fantastic and the food was lovely and hot,

Pleasant welcome, nice bar person, pleasant carvery server. Perfectly cooked meats, all veg hot & fresh and gravy delicious. Manager personally wished us farewell and said it was nice to see us again.

Went today new years day. Food not warm at all veg cold roast potatoes cold empty dishes had to ask for mash there were only dregs. Barely given meat. Hadn't been for a while and definitely won't be rushing back. Place felt dirty aswell. Mens toilets not good at all. Place needs a make over. Grove farm better

Met work friends here for our festive gift exchanges, the meal was lovely. The staff were very friendly and had a great atmosphere.

It was ok Yorkshire is small being a vegetarian in place of the meat the price was the same £8:99 I am usually asked everywhere else I’ve been . if I want an extra Yorkshire I was charged extra here The Brussels we’re too hard

We came today for the breakfast with Santa, the food was amazing but the best of all was santa and the elf- they were the best we have ever seen and made such an effort when we said it was ours daughters birthday 10 outta 10 for this

Ordered steak plus a drink. If you wanted extras like sauce, etc, you would have to pay extra . Steak was okay, nothing special Needed a sauce to go with it and it was very bland .

We did breakfast with santa today. They made the experience really exciting for the children. Santa came to chat with them while eating breakfast. The table had coloring and crackers to keep them busy. Breakfast was really good. Hot fresh food. Constantly replaced when needed. Good selection to choose from. Tea and coffee hot. Santa was really good. He spent ages talking to the children. The staff were lovely. Made sure everyone was happy and had everything they needed. Would recommend and will definitely book again. Thank you for making a magical experience

All day breakfast 2 weeks ago. Good value although staff need to keep checking enough food ready and tea/coffee facilities topped up and working. Today lunchtime had ordered Christmas carvery for 4 but told not got booking (although on phone) so not available, but table reserved.!! Not good. Then while waiting in food line waitress came with dessert!!! Very busy.

Walked in, table of 6 from work, was packed, no carpark space, but able to get a table that had just been cleared. Carvery was nice and three ordered from menu was quickly delivered. Service was friendly and efficient.

The food was good in parts we had the carvery but the veg were overdone and partly soft and soggy. The seating area we were in someone left the fire exit door open so rather cold. Staff didn’t seem bothered !!

Even though we ordered two kids carveries, they were very small, normally plenty of food in them for a good hearty meal. this time the meat was one small slice of the selection and a small amount of vegatables and mash. Normally alot larger.

Honestly one of the best places to eat in Leicester. Whether your having Carvery or set menu the food is always great and the staff can't do enough for you.

Foods good, but terrible communication with the restaurant. Placed an order via Uber eats, and tried to call the restaurant to request no mash potato - they never answered despite attempting to call over 10 times over a 20 minute window. It was still delivered with mash. Maybe worth having an option on Uber eats either for notes, or each veg item is selectable?

A fabulous impromptu breakfast with a wonderful welcome by Nicky - nice and clean, great value - will definitely return.

Showed up to be told my booking online i made a month in advance wasn't there, even after showing reminder email. Person on reception was rude and shouted I got no table booked or room. Had my sister holding my baby and two other kids one who has ASD standing in cold door way. Then given table with no high chair and told to put baby on chair. After while found a high chair but then staff were rude and walking past talking about us. This is the 3rd time this has happened and I'm starting to think as I'm transgender and book under male name the staff are showing there distaste. Cus no way can my booking get lost 3 times but reminder email sent out.

A fabulous meal with very friendly service for my grandsons first birthday party! All the staff were very friendly and Gary the manager was really helpful!!

To be honest it was a quick drink and no food , but the pub has really got geared up for the family, food looked good and tasty

Came for the 1st time dinner date, greeted and seated by Nicky , We were not happy with where we seated, Nicky moved us to a quiet corner which was perfect. Very helpful and pleasent and never stood still buzzing around. Food was first class. Highly recommend a visit

My Yorkshire Pudding was missing! And only got 2 roast potatoes. The stuffing nearly filled the whole box! was so disappointed.

We had a great visit. We booked on you website the week before and we were larger group of 10 guest and you sorted it out no problem. Staff where excellent, food was well prepared and presented, fresh veg was brought out regularly, tables where clean, everything as it should be. Well done

Excellent staff at the bar and working the tables. Had the carvery. Went up in time for a new turkey crown so had that rather than gammon. A good choice . And the beef which was a bit dry. Lots of potato options, meat fat potatoes are at the end, wait for those. Champagne was excellent value, but not enough flutes for our table.

Really accommodating as it was for a birthday party they let us have the table a bit earlier to decorate, food was lovely and it is great value for money would highly recommend

Had full English breakfast. The kids were playing outside and my daughter face planted the floor. The staff were fantastic and couldn't of been more helpful. Thanks for being so kind

Been for breakfast not very good cold food like greegs toast has white has paint not very quick at refilling food when empty black pudding look like it had been there for a week plates could do with changing your good clean my wife has had snack bar for 17 years if she served food like that she would not be running

Worst meal ever chewy meat potatoes rock hard vegetables hard never again

For some reason they always try and give you the thinnest slices of meat. It really is quite skilful but also very disappointing. I eat fairly regular as it is close to where I live and I often ask them if they can. Please put a little more on as the portion is remarkably small. I'm quite often told they're not allowed and then when I speak to the manager or a waitress they go and sort it. I really do think they need to do something about this. Nobody needs a great deal of meat, but if you're going to recovery, you certainly need more than a mouthful.

Basic carvery type place, nice enough though

Great value carvery with brilliant range of grub for everyone. The breakfast range is equally good for vegans, vegetarians and omnivores. Lovely staff too. However Sundays are absolutely manic and not at all relaxing. You will have lengthy queues for the carvery and the carvery prices are higher thank during the week. £8.99 for a small meat-free seems rather high.

Great carvery exceptional service from Clare who couldn't do enough for everyone on our daughter in laws 30th birthday Celebrations good value for money.Could do with more bar staff but 9 out of 10. Brilliant.

Food nice, staff pleasant, I us this pub regularly only thing now they have stopped allowing you to open a tab for the food which for me is a pain.

Food was excellent. I will be ordering again!
