The Old Swan in Newcastle-under-Lyme

10 Family members arrived for a "birthday" evening meal. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all. The table service was a little slow,but there were 10 of us and the restaurant and pub quite busy. Definitely becoming one of our favourite places to eat.

For the first day, was well set up. Service was good and pleasant. The food was topped up regularly and drinks arrived promptly. I would advise to make sure the beans and tomatoes are kept hot as ours were on the cold side. Also, thicker bread for toast. Overall, a pleasant experience

There was 8 of us and we all had a beautiful meal we all had the hot plate steaks they were amazing , the service from the team was excellent.

Visited the Old Swan for a second time tonight and again wasn't disappointed. All three of us had a starter and then we all had the steak and ale pie which came with lovely chips plus veg. Two out of the three of us couldn't finish all of the pie as there was a lot on the plate. If you are a lover of good food this place is a gem. The quality of the food we had tonight was outstanding and service to match. Safe to say it won't be long before we come back again to this great venue.

We had a lovely lunch with family members. The menu has plenty of variety and was cooked well and tasted good. We had a bit of a wait once our food was ordered, but was worth it.

A family occasion for 8 of us. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The ambience was lovely, and the restaurant very clean. We all enjoyed our various meals, of which they were plentiful. All cooked fresh. Definitely recommend The Old Swan and hopefully will be back before too long.

Party of 7 all went home full and satisfied. The service was prompt but not pushy. We were looked after the whole evening. The portion sizes were much bigger than any where we have eaten lately which made it excellent value for money. On top of that the food was very good and we found no faults what so ever. Lovely dining area, ample parking. We don't say this very often but we would definitely go back again 10/10

Food as always was excellent and portion sizes were very generous. Staff were brilliant, always checking everything was ok and if you needed anything else. Bar service was quick and remembered what you’d had and table if you had a tab.

Everything was excellent from the ease of online booking, follow up reminder and friendly greeting on arrival. Our Sunday lunch was delicious. The main course was very generous, hot and beautifully presented. Our desserts were also delicious. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended.

What can I say about the Old Swan. The food was absolutely beautiful. Its the first time my wife and myself have been here, but it won't be the last. As I say the food was amazing and all of top quality. Its a lovely clean place with lovely views and the staff are all lovely and friendly. A must to visit sometime.

Celebrated my birthday tonight with family . We were a table of ten and the staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and freshly cooked. I would certainly recommend a visit and we will definitely be back. An added bonus there was plenty of outdoor space for our grandchildren to run around whilst we waited for our meals to be cooked. We took our own birthday cake but found out that the old swan could arrange a birthday cake for you

We nipped in on Our way down from the Lake District to Hertfordshire, what can I Say, Fist & Chips x 2 Ribs x 2 & Kids Chicken & Chips x 1, Girls Loved their Ribs Good portion & falling of the Bone, little man liked his Chicken & Chips, Us Boys Hit the Jackpot, I Haven’t had a Piece of Fish so Big Since 1973 At Filey,. We had Two Huge Slabs of Thick Cod, Not that skinny Rubbish you get Down South, Very Well cooked & the Chips Both Done Proper in Dripping ! We Would Go back Again when we Are over from N. Ireland Can recommend 110% +

Booked late and was squeezed in, my partner was working so it was just me and the teenagers. Had starters, mains and deserts… It’s just lovely at the pub, great atmosphere family friends and great service. Food served in a timely manor, my only disappointment was that my other half wasn’t with me, so no sharing platter for me.. The Sunday lunches are awesome, they cater for every need and requirement, ample parking and easy access for the older generations if required… You have just got to try it…

Called in for lunch with one of my sons. Lots of parking. Very clean and tidy outdoor area. I had Cajun chicken on ciabatta, it came with homemade chips and a dressed salad. The chicken was extremely juicy and had a lovely spice blend on it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My son had scampi, homemade chips and mushy peas, which also came with a dressed salad. He enjoyed it too. We will definitely be trying lunch or maybe dinner here very soon. Great menu selections.

We turned up as a party of 9 on the wrong night! It was our fault, but as it was a surprise booking for one of us, Mandy pulled out all the stops to rearrange tables! We were so grateful and impressed with the quality/quantity of the food and the efficient service, considering our party hadn't been expected that night. After a successful meal here a few weeks ago we made a return visit for my mother-in-law's birthday. If anything our experience second time around was even better than the first. With 2 members of the party having dietary requirements, these were easily taken care of and the service and food were both of an exceptionally high standard. We hope to return again in the near future.

This place has it all...nice pub atmosphere when you enter along with dedicated dining areas. The welcome was warm and the staff were very attentive. It is great to see a venue with appropriate staff numbers to cater properly for the number of guests even though it was fully booked. Food...what can I say??? Absolutely amazing selection and perfectly cooked and presented...good portion sizes, you will not be going home hungry. I had the pleasure of the belly pork bites (well tasty) and a stack of three Cajun chicken chicken skewers with salad and chips. Both were beautiful. This was our first visit but certainly not our last.

We went to The Old Swan in early February for a friend’s special birthday & had a lovely meal. All of the food was delicious & well presented & the portion sizes were generous. Considering it was a very busy Saturday night, we were served very quickly. Plenty of gluten free options for my wife as well. We are already booked to return next month.

We went with a group of 10. Burgers and chips were not good, we asked for table water/tap water that never arrived. Also they forgot one of our orders, so one person waited 10-15 minutes more while the others were eating. The dessert looked nice, but it was tasteless. Stakes were nice.

There are so many good places to eat in the 3 shires, Cheshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire and I lived in them all the last 15 years, I have no idea how this little gem has escaped my family. The food the service the price and the decor are spot on, they have nailed the lot, including portion size, I'm a little reluctant to open the floodgates by leaving this review, but it's the right thing to do, I can only imagine that the location is the only thing that stands in the way of this beautiful pub from gaining the custom that the new Broughton has received, just so much going for it, those portion sizes and prices ...WOW :)

Visited with family for Birthday meal. Nothing was too much trouble for our lively party which included 2 infants, the service was great, food delicious we could not fault it. We will definately be back without the children!
