Went to view a property in Wrexham today. Met the owner and 3 of the staff, Karen stacey and I hope I've got his name correctly aliss. What a good group of people. Very chatty very friendly and I must say what a lovely pint. Providing I move to Wrexham and take that property this will most certainly be my new local. Thanks for the warm welcome guys hopefully see you all again. The owner is a Newcastle fan also so that made my decision a lot easier as well haha

Been some years since we visited this place, hosts were excellent with classic jukebox music and to boot it is very dog friendly. Will visit again. 🍷

This is no beautiful, peaceful, elegant bar the decor promises. Silk purse, pigs ear comes to mind. I am a tad miffed at the cheek of some people. The immature and rude door staff looked mean and far too superior too have to allow mere “customers” in to their lair! In hindsight, Myself and friend should have gave the place a wide birth. I will Not give my hard earned money to this establishment again, I should have listened to my gut, having squeezied through the meatheads down a dank alley with a ice pick kinda sensation boring into my back.?? The prices clearly reflected the attempt at swanky decor. There must have been NO budget left too get decent, acceptable staff! The obnoxious, disrespectful behaviour was unacceptable and frankly pathetic. It felt as though we were not welcome. It was the third telling off we received that planted ‘that’ little nuggart. We left and found a nice pub over the road. Much less up itself with bouncers old enough to shave with much smaller egos and a lot less swagger. No consideration to accommodate the guests and patrons unfortunate enough to experience this hell was budgeted for either. A metaphorical cloud of oppression, with a layering of ugliness fooled no one. Unfortunalty, it made the attempt at cool and chick rather tarnished and irrelevant. I was compelled to check in here and share my experience as it was just really odd, uncomfortable. Weird!

It was a sunny June afternoon and my partner and I were building up a thirst mooching around Wrexham. We stumbled across the Old Swan, which looked quaint and intriguing from the outside and had a beer garden, bonus we thought! How wrong we were. When we walked in, all the locals stopped talking and stared, you could almost see the tumbleweed blowing through the bar. There was a young girl of about 10 sitting at the bar eating sausage and chips from a local chippy whilst all the adults got drunk and swore around her. There were flies buzzing about in the poolroom and everyone appeared to be totally off their faces. A young bloke was making a nuisance of himself trying to phase us out...This is a hard core drinkers pub and it reminded me of the film deliverance! It's the fastest cider I've ever drunk and we didn't simply leave, more like escaped. DO NOT EVER VISIT THIS PUB.

I popped into the Old Swan last Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I had 3 or 4 Pints of some strong German Beer which I found very refreshing. There were people in there of all ages revelling in the atmosphere and the mood was electric. The guy on the Karaoke was an expert at 'getting people up', even those that were reluctant at first. I've never been one for 'getting up and singing', but decided that I had nothing to lose. I done a version of 'Delilah' and had the place in uproar! I was totally awful!! But to be fair, everyone shook my hand! The Landlord bought me a Jack Daniels and Lemonade, before commending me on my honesty for admitting that I was shocking! I'm hoping to go back in July. I've been practising 'My Way' and can probably now sing it without looking at the screen. Thanks to everyone for making it a memorable evening! Regards Brian

I often go out of my way to go to local, run down or out of the way pubs because I regularly find an overlooked gem. Even in the 'roughest' of places I've experienced fantastic customer service, wonderful local customers, brilliant ales or just a lovely little hideaway. This place is none of those things. The building itself, from the outside, is wonderful and the beer garden is one that most pubs in Wrexham would be severely jealous of but, from the moment I walked in and was greeted with a quieter and scarier version of the 'local pub for local people' stare, I hated this place. As I ordered an expensive for the service (£3.20) pint of Guinness the locals at the bar whispered about me, the young barman didn't really want to serve me while he chatted to his friend(girlfriend?) and, when I sat around the corner next to the broken quiz game box, the aroma was one of what I imagine it would smell like if somebody sprayed a mongrel with Cillit Bang. When I left via the dirty walls and cold tiled floor that led the way, I put my glass on the bar and said thanks to the barman. He briefly looked up from his phone and didn't otherwise acknowledge me. I have been into a LOT of pubs and, even on the rare occasion that they felt frosty or miserable, I have NEVER experienced somebody not replying with a thank you or goodbye. I don't like to exaggerate on TripAdvisor but the place was, frankly, a dump and I can only think that it continues to survive because of the money the beer garden makes in the summer... It's the sort of pub that I may well cross the street to avoid in future.
