Really good place to come in and have a drink and some food, great service

Nice pub in Westminster with lots of different beers on tap. Good amount of seating inside and a nice atmosphere with people spilling out into the street. Quite expensive but expected given the location.

Was recommended here by a very friendly elderly gentleman and was not disappointed by the fish and chips he said was to die for. Would go here again.

I was at Old Star today, and loved the atmosphere, I had fish and chips and a steak pie, it was great. Aldo was serving us, he served us very well.

Lovely little place, nice grub as well. Service and atmosphere was on point especially a certain staff member called Ed Campbell, was very tentative.

Absolutely fabulous little pub, coming from an American’s first time in London it was an absolute treat! Staff were beyond exceptional, particularly our waiter Ed! He was an absolute doll and made us feel right at home! 100% recommend to anyone with families!

My friend and I have only been in London for a brief trip. But we had heard great things about the pubs in London. We found ourself a traditional pub across the road from the tube station St James Park. We were greeted warmly and the staff spoke through how we order as we have never been to a traditional English pub. I ordered the steak and ale pie and the cod goujon sandwich , this was amazing. Anyone visiting London I would reccomend this Pub by far !!

We order our drinks and our food, our drinks are served but we are told that we can only order the food at 8pm (it is 7:40pm). We drink our drinks, we head to the bar to order the food at 8 p.m., we are told it is not 8 p.m. 5 minutes later, a waiter removes the cards from the tables. We finish our drinks and go eat elsewhere.... Terrible contact with staff. Note that a dish was served at 7:45 p.m. at the table next door. Damage

7/21/24. I had an extremely disappointing experience at The Old Star. As a Black customer, I felt unwelcome and disrespected from the moment I walked in. Despite the restaurant being half-empty, I was ignored for several minutes while other patrons were promptly attended to. When I finally spoke with an employee, I was given conflicting information and treated rudely by the staff, including the shift lead who showed blatant bias and unprofessionalism. I strongly encourage fellow Black patrons to consider other dining options where they will be treated with the respect they deserve. This establishment's behavior was unacceptable, and it is clear that there is a significant issue with how they treat customers of color.

Sanday roast un peu moyen, viande trop cuite pain brûlé et couteau qui ne coupe pas la viande. Le personnel pas très accueillant avec les touristes français, les toilettes très très sales surtout celles des hommes. Il faut payer avant de consommer, la commande se fait au bar même pour pouvoir manger.

Great pub near St James Station.

I drink here quite regularly and it’s fine for a post-work beer. But when I brought friends for lunch today it was embarrassing. We collectively paid £50 for 4 meals and portions were small and cold. One meal came with a portion of coleslaw that had clearly been left out for a while (see pic), as it was dry and brown.

Asked whether if could order food and was told only chips and nuts. You have menus for proper pub food but was told no. Poor service and lack of communication, I might as well talk to a brick wall when all I get is one word answers

Lovely traditional pub, but with modern decor, seating over 3 areas/floors. Great location, and because slightly tucked away I thought reasonable prices. Sunday lunch with good cask ale, and very friendly staff.

Really lovely pub, the bar staff were brilliant and it’s in such a lovely location. The drinks themselves are of a wide variety and a good price! I recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

So you ask the barmaid what the darkest ale is and was told Greene King IPA......but said barmaid recently served a guest ale to a punter and which was much darker, so top tip don't ask the staff about beer, they have no idea. Large wine, pint and coke over £20....ouch. Ale was slightly on the turn....sediment at bottom. So I head to Wetherspoons afterwards for a better pint and service. London pubs like these trade on heritage only.....not on a beer or service. Shame. Also note have to ask for top up of ale as a large head is not acceptable but barmaid clearly happy to serve under a pint which is against trades description.

Food was priced reasonably, although a bit underwhelming (I'd avoid the BLT). Good range of beers on tap, however the bartender was not friendly at all. Nice bright spot though, very pleasant on a sunny day

The worst pub/restaurant in London. The waitresses were antipathetic, if you don't go to grab napkins and sauces, you just can wait until you leave, the same to clean up the table. The food (burgers for the 3 of us), were dry, with no sauces, few cheese, small piece of bacon, 2 small onion rings, ...), the fries were also dry, really it wasn't worth the price at all. Just a smile to the customers will be better for everyone. Avoid this pub, which is crowded because it is at the exit of the park. The waitresses are terrible with everyone, the tables are not cleared, therefore not cleaned, they serve you and put everything down without giving any cutlery, napkins, or seasonings, the food (there were 3 of us and we took 3 cheese burgers -bacon) was dry, without sauces (barely), we looked for the cheese, the fries were dry, 2 small onion rings in short, the worst food we have eaten in 3 days in London.

Typically English pub in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. Delicious beer and good snacks. The atmosphere is attractive and cozy. In the basement you can relax a bit from the hectic pace of everyday life. Aldo at the bar is always ready for a joke and friendly. It's a good place to stop off.

The hamburgers are very good, the place is original in its decoration. Very nice for an absolute coincidence.

Found this pub quite by accident, but very glad we did. Friendly service and our meal was fantastic. Very good selection of authentic English Ales and Lagers.

Lovely evening, cracking pint of Guinness me and my wife had the Chicken katsu burgers and we were very well looked after by Aldo and Hana.

Here you have to remember to order the food and buy the drinks yourself at the counter. otherwise the service was good

Simple food mixed with Korean “gochujang” sauce goes well with beer. The kids ate well. The man working was very pleasant and nice. The gentleman who served us was very friendly and the food/atmosphere was exceptional. Thank you!

Came in one afternoon with my girlfriend last Saturday after visiting Buckingham Palace. As Americans we ordered the Fish and Chips and the traditional English Steak Pie ,both were amazing ! Staff were welcoming and the pub had a great atmosphere. One of the best modern pubs I’ve visited so far in London.

Went there for Sunday roast , really good portion , very nice roast chicken and mash potato , definitely worth it to visit .

I visited The Old Star yesterday (Thursday). It was really busy , I don't know if I remember her name but I think her name was Hannah. She served me with drinks and food , she always had a smile on her face even though I could tell she was tired. But everyone else was awesome as well but I couldn't forget how nice she was.

We went to this pub to have one or two drinks on a Saturday. The staff were super unfriendly and rude. It seemed they didn’t even care the business. Not recommended.

Avoid this place. I ordered food that I couldn’t bear to eat. The fries with aioli sauce definitely didn’t taste like aioli. Definitely could improve on their quality of food and atmosphere as the restaurant didn’t feel super clean. Gross toilets as well. Decent service.

The pub is right outside of the tube station, and not far from the park. It is great for a short rest after the park. It’s pretty much self service here. Find your own seat and order at the bar. The basement is great for kids, there is an area with 4-6 tables. No serving staff bothered us at all. When we were there was no milk, so no hot chocolate or coffee with milk. The mulled wine was delish.

£21.30 in total, £13.75 for the meal which makes the bottle of Inch's cider £7.55. A little steep perhaps but then again I am used to the cost of living in Sheffield. I originally intended to have the steak and ale pie, however upon ordering I was told that it was out, and they only had 'turkey'. This turned out to be I believe turkey and bacon? Perhaps. Served with mashed potato, peas and a little pot of gravy. Hot, tasted very nice, perhaps the portion was a little small for the price. The cider was served nice and cold, I was offered and accepted a glass with ice. Toward the end of my glass, I peered down into the bottom as one does and saw two little flies floating about. I don't mind the two little fellows because they could have entered my glass at any point. And having just written a little bit about portion:price ratio who am I to say anything about a little free protein being served.
