Clean, comfy, had reservations to see Champions League match and were seated promptly. Aldo (manager) was so attentive and personal. Our 2nd time here but not last!!!

A very cozy pub in the middle of London. We had snacks here for lunch with two families.

Great Food, great atmosphere. Come and try it, you will love it. Tip: the barbecue chicken

Ordered their lunch deal with a steak sandwich and it was 2 large white slices of bread with mustard and some arugula with a few pieces of meat. Only tasted mustard so I left more than half the sandwich but their beer is so good! The staff were rude who hardly spoke to one when they set the table or served the food. Will not go here again or recommend this to anyone.

We didn't eat at this pub so can't rate that side of things. My choice of beer I had to take back as it was not very pleasant, tasting vinegary but the bar staff changed it for something else when I complained without too much protest. A bit of a downer were the toilets which were mostly out of use due to blockages and those that weren't blocked were not in good condition with no locks on the doors and wet toilet paper on the floor. Don't think I would have been happy eating at this venue going by the state of the toilets!

Characteristic London pub located halfway between Westminster and Buckingham Palace. We tried a pie and a hamburger: more than generous portions and excellent quality! The presence of beyond-meat burgers as a vegetarian alternative was appreciated.

For first time visitors to the Buckingham Palance and St. James's Park, this restaurant is a must try. Aside from its prime location, the food and friendly staff made this one of best meal experiences in London. Highly recommended!!

The hours listed online are incorrect, and we were disappointed to learn that the pub closes at 7 pm on Saturdays. We had made a reservation for 7 pm through their website, but when we arrived, the manager dismissed our concerns and asked us to leave without offering any clarification or solution. This was an unfortunate experience, and we hope they update their hours and improve customer service moving forward.

Be prepared to wait at least 1.5 hours for food. Don't take kids there. Don't take elderly people there. Don't take people who have not been to English pubs before there (tourists will never want to go to a pub again and will remain with the very wrong impression). Be prepared to climb >3 floors at least a few times (to (not)find table, to order, to ask why the delay). Unfortunately, we received a really bad service here. We were 5 people including a child and an elderly person, and at first nobody from staff could tell if there were tables available, which was the reason people were constantly going up and down the 3 levels checking for seating. This was not the worst though. When we finally found a table, we couldn't order online as we were underground with no reception, so we had to order at the bar, where there were two tills and the person went away, leaving us to watch how people at the other till were ordering away. Staff didn't even know the table number or where the table was at all! The worst was that we then had to wait for more than 1h 30min for food, not being informed about what was going on, until we started asking. When we decided to eventually go, having wasted a significant amount of time on our day in London (instead of what we were there for), they came with the plates and not a single sign of curtesy to the fact that we received the worst service in the country. Taking a starving kid and a person with diabetes who needed to have food at certain times - this was a horrible experience to me personally. I went through a great spectrum of negative emotions and I paid the full top location price for it. We all had ordered Fish&Chips and on the positive note, fish was delicious (hence one star from me), but to this day I can't tell if it was because it was well cooked, or because we were left starving for so long. I suspect that a single slice of bread would have achieved the same effect, considering the state we were in. A good host could have probably offered something simple to keep us alive for that 1.5h (while they catch that fish and bring it cooked to our table LOL)!

When they advertise that they’ll have the rugby on; don’t believe them. They’ll have whatever football match the staff want to watch on instead, and they’ll refuse to change the channel. Edit: Greene King customer services have been in touch, ad been impressed by the way they have dealt with this.

The worst sunday roast, ever. The meat couldn’t be chewed at all costs. The potatoes: horrendous. The carrots were ok, but you couldn’t wrong boiled carrots now, could you? The waiter highly unfriendly. It was super gross food, but on the other side it was extra expensive. Avoid at all costs.

The Italian bartender has such a bad attitude (if you are male). And they serve the smallest glass of prosecco in town. I shared a photo of the glass they serve me for nearly £8. The guy is more charming with Ladies. Maybe they get a proper glass of prosecco as well

Cracking burger, had the special brunch. The wife had the pie. Told me to mark down by a star as no mint sauce for the mushy peas.........it must be a northern thing. Good service, italian manager is polite and checks on everything. Would come again when in London

Needed a pub near Westminster Abbey that served fish & Chips. My friend from Italy had never had it. Unfortunately, this place probably served the worst Fish & Chips I have ever eaten. We were told the kitchen was having problems when we first got there, but it would only be a few minutes before we could order. I wish we had gone somewhere else. The breading on the fish was not true to form, and the fish itself was hard & chewy. This is not the place to go for traditional Fish & Chips.

Dreaming of a trip to London, I always wanted to taste beer in their iconic pubs. I recommend it to everyone because it is an interesting experience. There are plenty of places that look like an "old English pub". Especially in the center. But there are also some of them on the outskirts. I don't know if the one I chose was old, but it had the right atmosphere. And I guess it was popular because there were so many people at 5 p.m. on a weekday that I don't know how they get along with the bartender. It's just that everyone is talking at the same time. Noise and laughter which creates an amazing atmosphere. It is worth noting that you cannot enter the pub with children after 5 p.m. We wanted to eat something and drink something. We entered around 4 p.m. and there were already reservations on the tables. When we got the dishes, it was around 4:30 p.m. and it was already full of people, later it was even better 😀. You can eat here, even quite well. And it's not the most expensive place. And as for drinks? My wife and I chose several types of beers. Not all of them are good in my opinion 😄 but each person's taste is different and you have to try different flavors 😁 . I recommend . From curiosities. I don't know about others, but some of the basements of this pub are located under the streets outside the building. !

Placed quite close to the Big Ben but with no tourists around, The Old Star is a nice pub where to stop for lunch. We ordered a fish&chips, maccaroni&Cheese and garlic ciabatta for the four of us (Inc a 3yo and 6yo children). The size of the dishes was not massive but enough for a menú (as It is the case), and the taste of each of them was clearly above our expectations. I can say as well that it has been the best garlic bread I have ever tasted (4 slices). I can clearly recommend this place!!!

Unfortunately the worst experience possible. I booked a table for NYE for drinks and dinner. I received confirmation on my email and then also a reminder about my booking. At the arrival manager on duty had no idea about my reservation. And told me that kitchen is closed . And I can only order food if I know what I want because chef is really upset already. No menu. Nothing. She told us that she had no idea about our reservation. Nobody ever bothered to call about early closing. So unprofessional. It was NYE. Not just a normal day. She also said that everything around is closed wich wasn’t true because we went to w pub across the street and they welcomed us with dinner. After last orders another women came, i think someone who work there, as she came behind the bar and took a bottle of beer. Even though I was seating just next to them manager on duty was talking about me. She said that I just didn’t want to order food. But how could I, if I didn’t even see a menu. And obviously she was talking about me. Honestly it’s unbelievable to me how come you can treat your guests like that. I work for hospitality myself. And taking care about guests and their plans and celebrations it’s the most important thing for us .

The food and the atmosphere are great, it is very well cooked and very well decorated, but sadly the service is very bad, if you go there, do not expect the waiter to serve you, because you have to go to the bar to order or do it from the app, no one warned us, and when we called the waiter they didn't answer us. We spent practically 30 minutes waiting for them to pay attention to us, and many people left because no one warned us that we had to order at the bar.

Very nice place, it has about three floors, the one downstairs is very nice, cozy, good food, fresh fish & chips, good as expected and a fairly large plate, but the service is very bad, no one serves you there, you need to look for the waiters who do not want to talk or help during the stay, many foreign tables. Most of them get up and leave because they are not served and on the other hand you can order food by QR code because it has waiters at last very nice place and we eat well the attention is sad

Waiting for an hour for a poor, dry sandwich, the salad on the side was hot and shriveled, our plates had to wait for 1 hour in the keeping warm. The waiter doesn't speak, I had to ask for our meal because I was starving and it was only for this reason that I finished my plate (and because I had paid). The restaurant was empty and the waiters were on their phones ignoring us. INADMISSIBLE TO FLEE

Potential good Place. Food looked nice, But If the kitchen Is as clean a the toilets ... Help! So we left before ordering but After having tò wait and insist tò have our table cleaned up. Staff ... they don t seems tò like their job or tourists, but that s my feeling . Not a Place we felt wellcomed or I would try

Stopped here for lunch with group of 6. Toilets were non operational (blocked), most of food cold and ineadable, staff member could not tell us what the meals were when brought out, general mood of staff is grim and uninterested. One meal was so bad that we asked for money back which was given. Do not recommend.

I didn't like the taste of my half pint and the bartender was nice enough to exchange it for me. Seasoned fries and and the thick cut chips were tasty! Oh and the mulled wine was nice as well! :)

Do not eat here!! Food is overpriced and disgusting. We stopped in here for lunch on our way from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. Have been warned about these places however looked like a nice place from the outside. Silly us! Cost 69 pounds for 3 steak sandwiches, chips, nachos, 1 small glass of house wine and a pitcher (jug) of lemonade. Food was terrible! Service was fine. No complaints there.

I had scampi and chips. Was ok. But my partner had mac and cheese!! Completely inedible. She described it as vile. Manager was lovely but couldn't refund her money as I had used a friend's and family discount. And partner had diarrhoea after having tasted it. Avoid at all costs.

This beautiful bustling pub is situated just steps away from St James’s Park Station. It was super busy for lunch but staff handled all the pressure with smiles and efficiency. I had the Beyond Meat Sprout Pesto Burger (VE) and it was very tasty. My food was delivered quickly even though the pub was packed. I might just have to come back and book one of the ‘Vaults’…cute curved areas in the cellar. Worth a visit for sure.

I would not go here for the food - sandwiches were dry and uninspiring. Chicken wings were ok. The place had a lunch deal (11 pounds for food and drinks) - but due to a computer issue they could not offer this when we were there. The drinks and atmosphere were nice however. Come for a pint but go somewhere else for food!

Horrible Sunday roast, completely raw vegetables, overcooked meat, very dry potatoes, I managed to eat everything only thanks to the mayonnaise, an experience never to be repeated again

The food is excellent, the dishes a little particular but delicious, not the usual fish and chips, etc. the price is good considering the quality and the location, then there are offers with more dishes at a lower price, good beer and various choices.

The restaurant experience was frustrating. They don't take orders at the tables, forcing you to leave your seat and climb the stairs just to place an order. It felt both inconvenient and ridiculous, taking away from the enjoyment of the meal. This setup is unnecessarily difficult and detracts from what could otherwise be a pleasant dining experience.

The drinks selection is great, with a variety of beers and ales to choose from. The food is classic pub fare, hearty and satisfying. The staff are friendly, and the service is quick, making it an ideal place to relax with friends or unwind after a long day.

We walked a long distance to get in here because of the positive reviews. Sunday afternoon around 17. The schedule says it’s open until 19h. We arrived and a rude guy in the entry doesn’t let us in, and he says: we are closing. Not even a kind “hi, how are you?” What a disrespectful and poor customer service. 1 star is too much for you.

Nice food, good service from Aldo. Crispy smashed potatoes were a bit disappointing as they weren't very crispy.
