After the wonderful wedding of my godson at Heaton House Farm, we had an overnight stay, and breakfast was served in the Old Stableyard. This was excellent with a wide choice, and everywhere was spotlessly clean.

We booked The Old Stable Yard for a corporate event - staff training day - and can honestly say it was the best decision. The hospitality and catering was excellent and in beautiful facilities and location. The great environment was really conducive to team building, and the links with the nearby activity centre really enhances the day. All very smoothly organised. We would definitely use this venue again and recommend highly.

We went to the 7 course taster menu event on the Saturday evening and took the wine flight too. What an amazing meal with perfectly chosen wine. Really had no idea what to expect but had a fantastic evening with superb food and wine in a beautifully refurbished room which has loads of character. The wood burning stove created a great ambiance too. Tasted Macclesfield gin there too. Well worth a try and great to see something else local worthy of support. Can't wait until the next one!

We all enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch by Vanilla in Allseasons acting as a pop up restaurant in The New Stableyard, it wasn't any ordinary Sunday lunch but of the highest standard. This was a new experience for both the customers and restaurant and one I do hope they repeat very soon. I will definitely be returning when they do. Thank you for a really enjoyable Sunday afternoon in a beautiful setting.

We were staying over in Leek on a Sunday evening, wanting to sample some Staffordshire oatcakes the following morning, but the oatcake shop we wanted was closed on Monday! Poor planning. But luckily this place was open at 7.30 am and we found what we wanted here: oatcakes with various fillings such as bacon or tomato; all with cheese. If you've not tried them, Staffordshire oatcakes are very different to the Scottish biscuit that most people associate with 'oatcakes'. Here, they are a soft, flexible wrapper like a pancake, or perhaps a chapatti, made from a thin layer of a yeasted oatmeal/wheat batter griddled until it sets, then wrapped around your chosen filling. We took a pair of oatcakes with cheese and bacon, and a full English of 2 eggs, 2-3 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 toast, beans and tomatoes, plus extra hash browns. This was all in a takeaway tray - there is no table service here. It took about 10 minutes, which is fair enough as everything is cooked to order; but we were the only customers at that time. I imagine at busy times there could be quite a wait. The food was excellent, piping hot as you'd expect with it being cooked to order; and good value too, under £10 for the 2 breakfasts described above, though coffees added a bit more. Highly recommended.

Currently visiting the top 20 restaurants in Staffordshire, and at number 5 is this one. The pub is a throwback to the old days. Lovely atmosphere and decor. The menu is good, although there was a few pub classics missing (steak pie for example) I opted for the braising beet in red wine sauce. It was really nice. The pudding (crumble) was again a throwback it was exactly how your mum made it for you back in the 80s. Not sure it was homemade but the whole place felt like it was served with love. Enjoyed the place, food was good. Value was amazing. 3 people, all had a drink, a main and a dessert and it all came to under £50 Great

The quality of the food was absolutely amazing. The bread was beautiful and the steak was one of the best I think I have ever eaten. Coupled with warm and friendly staff it was a fabulous experience. We travelled from Warwick but would love to return .

Visited here twice during a weekend break; the pub has a great atmosphere and very friendly staff and owners would definitely come back if I was in the area. Dog and toddler friendly.

Top notch evening out with old friends. We went to 'The Shrew' for dinner and a couple beers. The place and staff were lovely. Beer was well kept too. I had the pie (steak, ale & stilton) which was truly delicious. Overall a very nice evening night catching up over good food and beer
