The 40's theme throughout is lovely and the teddy bears on sale each have a different "adoption" story. We had a very long wait for our food. Both of us had finished our pots of tea before it arrived. It was okay but sadly not the wow factor like the decor. The upstairs was freezing cold. We sat near a heater but needed our coats on. The man at the next table kept going in the loo to warm up. May have just been an off day or they may have been concentrating too much on afternoon teas but not the best first experience.

Found this little gem by chance today after a visit to Bygone Times It was so lovely The afternoon tea for the price was enough nicely presented. Only a minor criticism would be to lose the sweets they weren't very grown up and use more rustic breads. Great selection of teas and other drinks highly recommend 👌

Came with friends for Afternoon Tea, service a little slow but staff were attentive (Stables just changed. ownership so will put it down to teething problems and the waitress having to check about GF choices. They do offer certain GF items but choice was limited as we did not book in advance to let them know of a dietary restriction. Food was freshly made i appreciated the warm scones and a choice of plain, sultana or blueberry scone. Plenty of cream and homemade preserves to top your scone. Little pots of mustard/relish to add to your sandwich fillings was well received as one of our party dislikes mustard and another is allergic to onions so they were happy to have the choice not just choose a different sandwich. We had ham & cheddar. Roast Beef, tuna & cucumber and cream cheese with smoked salmon - choice of bread and a GF option for one of our party. The choice of drinks was extensive, Fitzpatricks cordials was a real bonus. Will return and definitely phone ahead so the owner can accommodate GF friend with more choice. Great little spot- book 1 st to ensure they can accommodate you.

This is a hidden gem in Chorley. We had afternoon tea, which included a choice of sandwich and either a scone with cream and jam, or a slice a cake (which was huge) and pouring cream, as well as tea or coffee. We haven’t been here for lunch since before covid but we hadn’t forgot about it. It’s such a lovely, quant little cafe tucked away just off Market Street in Chorley so it could be easily missed. We just wanted something light so we ordered a pot of tea for two, which came in a China tea pot along with China cups & saucers. My partners had a fruit scone with jam & fresh cream, which she said was just perfect. I chose soup with half a sandwich, which came with crisps & salad on the side. I chose Lancashire cheese with chutney for my sandwich & it was a treat. Lovely creamy cheese & home made relish. The absolute best part was the soup - home made scotch broth. It was the best soup I have had for some time, not too thick & packed with veg. It didn’t need salt or pepper. Nice & friendly staff made it a real treat.

Our first, but certainly not our last visit. The Venue: Situated down a short side alley, less than a minutes' walk from the nearby long stay carpark (and in the centre of town with accessible transport links). The outside wrought iron tables and old shop-front look hint at the type of vintage the rest of the tearooms has to offer. Packed with charming character from the old dressing screens to the gilt porcelain crockery, the joy is in the detail and there is plenty of it here. No shortage of decor, and on this occasion the background music and added decor themed for Halloween, including the costume clad host. The tables are cleverly arranged so that you are not on top of any other diners, nor overlooking anyone else. The Meal: Choosing an afternoon high tea, we were given the option of; 2 sandwich fillings (4 quarters on brown or white), cake or scone with trimmings (both with a variety of choice), to come with sweet treats including a chocolate coated strawberry and served with a side salad. The Salmon & Cream Cheese, Crumbly Lancashire & Chutney, and Tuna & Cucumber were all tasty. Both the Blueberry and Sultana Scones were a hearty size, larger than supermarkets and had that homemade touch. All well present and filled just right. This was accompanied by a refreshment of choice; a mug of hot chocolate and a pot of tea. We also decided to select one of the available upgrades, adding the cup of soup. Very deceiving in size and definitely a worthwhile choice of balanced flavour with Butternut Squash & Sweet Potato. The Service: From arriving and waiting momentarily to be seated to our leaving the service was pleasant, welcoming and non-intrusive. We were seated and presented with menus where we were given a good amount of time to make our selection. We were never left waiting for service, and the food itself did not take long either. Overall: Lovely character filled venue with ambiance to match. Cosy Tearooms. Pleasant Service with a smile. Priced as expected of a venue of this type and definitely worth the little extra over a generic coffee house. Suitable for all parties (children's menu options, various seating). Tips: Might be worth checking availability or making a reservation. Have a little extra money? Take slices of cake away.

My friend and I had afternoon tea last week 13.50 a head.In comparison to the many other establishments we have had afternoon tea it was not value for money.A choice of a scone or a cake everywhere else does both.Choc dipped strawberry very nice 4 way sandwich and 3 little sweets 13.50? Pot of tea. Every tearoom I have visited always gives scone jam and cream as standard not as an alternative. I will not return and even though I liked the surroundings though host a bit miserable I can not recommend.

Children are welcomed, with their own (very slightly) smaller afternoon tea option. The chocolate coated strawberry is a lovely finishing touch. Sandwich choices are good, and cakes are always amazing - and if you can’t finish it, they’ll pop it in a box to eat later. Can’t fault the servers or the service, that is always spot on.Hidden away in central Chorley, you’ll struggle to find a better afternoon tea locally. Best to book if you can as they’re always busy.

Blink and you could miss this little hidden oasis. It lies at the end of terraced houses, if walking from Market Street, or at the bottom of the steps leading from West Street car park. Take either of these routes and you won’t be disappointed. A good choice of food with generous portions or for those with lighter appetites why not try soup and half a sandwich for around £7.50. The soup I had was chick broth. A hearty bowlful of deliciousness with great chunks of chicken in a good thick liquid supplemented by big pieces of veg. Yummy, and just right for co,d wintery days. The accompanying sandwich might only be a half but with a packed filling and garnish you’d be hard pressed not to be full. A variety of cakes and scones are on offer with tea served in vintage cup and saucer. Staff great. Give it a try!

Once again I have had a fabulously sumptuous afternoon tea with all the trimmings. Wendy, Bill and their team are thee most welcoming hosts. Lots of homemade cakes and scones with many types of sandwiches and teas to compliment their great facilities.

Myself and my daughter along with her 4 year old and 10 month old baby attended the tea rooms and found it to be a lovely afternoon tea. But on getting the bill we were a bit confused as to why we had been charged 2 pounds extra because my daughter had a piece of cake and not the scone although it does say cake OR scone on the menu, and another 2 pond for the smallest beaker of water for her 10 month old baby. I don't mind paying for anything and the sandwiches and cake were lovely. Sadly I won't be returning for the simple reason of feeling I had been over charged.

This little tearoom is a credit to our town and continues to go from strength to strength. Our lunch today was great but best of all was the effort the staff put in with their costumes and how the venue was decorated. Well done and Thank You.

My sister was informed about this place from a colleague at work and after a brief visit for a cup of tea to check the place out she booked the room upstairs to hold my baby shower.... and I'm so glad she chose the old stables vintage tea shop.

Visited this place quite a few times and its fantastic. The staff are always really attentive and polite and its like going back in time to the 1940s {in a good way!}.This is a must visit place when shopping in Chorley.

Hidden away at the bottom of the steps just off St Marys car park in Chorley. I went there with my father in law for dinner. What a fantastic interior as the name suggests definitely vintage with little teddies for sale. Food and staff really were good and obviously freshly prepared. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed. I had a cheese and ham sandwich toasted and father in law had a ploughmans. We both left impressed and will return again.
