We got a voucher for a 3 course meal for 2 with processco. When we arrived we were seated quickly, drinks order taken and menu provided. We were told about the extra supplements for 1 starter, 2 of the mains and 1 dessert! Drinks came quickly and we had barely touched them before being offered more. Eventually the order was taken. We ordered all three courses at once. It was very slow but the food was lovely. The goats cheese tart to start was delicious. We both had suppliment mains (steak and duck) but they were really nice and the sticky toffee pudding was out of this world. Somewhere that actually gives you enough toffee sauce! Amazing. We enjoyed it, with drinks (2 diets cokes and 2 alcholic) and the supplements it nearly doubled the cost of the voucher but we enjoyed it.

We arrived 20 minutes early as I thought the M65 might have been busier. No problem at all, we were led straight to a table. 3 grown ups and a toddler. Menu was there in a jiffy. Pulled a high chair out for us on request immediately. We had three different starters, and three different mains and three different desserts. As Is the norm I had a sample of all of them. I couldn't believe the size of juniors Humous and olives, it was a huge portion. The mains were delicious which included a huge fish and tons of chips, a lovely chicken breast wrapped in bacon with flavoured mash, and Junior has now got a thing for steaks and polished hers off leaving not a crumb. My desert was superb it was a mixed berry Pavlova and I am a Pavlova expert, and don't see it on menus as often as I would like. All in all an excellent meal and very good value for money. Oh and before I forget, the music they had on was Simple Minds Greatest Hits, so you get 10/10 for your taste in music.

We visited this restaurant last night and the dining room was very clean and modern looking. The toilets and decor were immaculate. All the food that the six of us had was great and there was nothing left on any of the individuals three course plates . The tomato and pepper soup was very hot and my chicken was cooked to perfection and my husband really enjoyed his ham terrine and his salmon in crushed potatoes with a lovely sauce was excellent. Good words and high praise as he does his own cooking . The sticky toffee pud and ice cream just finished it off nicely. A steal at £32 which also included two glasses of Prosecco .

Visited at 6pm on Monday 1st April. We were on a Groupon offer, 3 course and a glass of Prosecco £32 for 2 of us. Starters were very ordinary. Chicken and bacon terrine. Caesar salad had far too much sauce. Chicken main course was pretty good. Prawn Linguine was very good. Sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess for pudding. Waitress really nice. The restaurant lacks atmosphere. Apart from the starters the food was good.

Myself and my partner decided to give this restaurant a try on our way back from a day out as it’s really close to where we live. It was Sunday lunch and when we entered it was pretty quiet but looked nice enough. I must admit we couldn’t help but notice a strange ambience almost as though we had walked into a private party. Anyway we quickly got drinks and received the Sunday menu without prices. My partner had the soup to start which was delicious, I had terrine which was ok at best and a bit measly. For main I ordered the chicken with a Yorkshire pudding and my partner had tomato linguine. From receiving this I just couldn’t wait to get home and make a decent meal. I literally could not distinguish a single item the meal was so incredibly bland it was unbelievable. The gravy basically consisted of warm water and fat. I cannot believe a golf club would serve frozen school dinner Vegetables! I am absolutely gob smacked. This place looks amazing and I would imagine the hotel is beautiful however I will not be risking it. The worst Sunday dinner I have ever had! To top it off the waitress took my barely touched plate (I ate the Yorkshire which was fine, one roast potato one slice of chicken) and never even enquired why I hadn’t touched it. £50 lighter to come home and start heating up a m&s dine in for 2! As for the pasta well if you consider pasta with a tin of chopped tomatoes and cheese on top a quality meal your in for a treat here! I visit lots of bad restaurants but feel leaving harsh reviews is sometimes unfair for the business owners, however I’m sorry to say this was a truly terrible meal. If your looking for Sunday lunch keep looking.

I purchased a groupon voucher for three course dinner for two with prosecco. It was half price, £32 instead of £64. I am glad we were not paying full price. Overpriced at £32. On arrival at lark hill restaurant (the restaurant we were advised to use at oak Hill when we booked) there were no tables set nor were there any staff. We could hear kitchen staff in the back and after ten minutes we shouted through. We asked if we had come to the wrong part of the hotel but we were told right place but they were expecting a funeral party. So we were led to another dining area which looked shabby and dated (other than the wash rooms). We both ordered chicken and bacon terrine starter. Five minutes later we were advised that they had run out of this item.the options were wait 40 minutes while the chef prepares a new batch or have chicken pate. We went for 2nd option. The black pudding mash and standard mash which came with main courses were both obviously reheated, almost solid. Didn't eat it. The chicken and pork which accompanied the mash were just OK. Eton mess was OK but sticky toffee pudding was again obviously reheated, in fact overmicrowaved such that it almost needed a knife and fork to cut through it. The toffee sauce was nice though. Only positive was that the bar prices for additional drinks was reasonably priced. We wouldn't buy another groupon voucher for this restaurant.

You get used to the idea that hotels charge the earth for even the most basic of bar food, but that wasn't the case here. The quality was good, service very good and the prices were gouging. Pleasant surroundings, quiet without the noise of traffic etc as the place is down a country lane.

Arrived on a living social deal for the staff to say we had no booking. We were left waiting for 30 mins whilst the waitress seated everyone else. Only 2 staff on and the place was busy on a Sunday evening. Eventually after asking we were seated and my friend was able to order a drink 40 mins after arriving. Menu and food made up for it. Black pudding was a bit plain, just breakfast items with a few salad leaves and no sauce, poached egg over cooked. Salmon main very nice and fish and chips huge. Sticky toffee pudding lovely. We were on a voucher so got a 3 course meal and a drink very cheap.

Really poor effort. Sandwiches were average, we left all of the cakes after tasting a little of each and the scones were just bland. Ended up going elsewhere afterwards for a bite to eat! Member of staff who showed us to our table and gave us our food then left the room, and by the time we’d finished our pot of tea we were completely alone in the restaurant. Had to wander around to find someone to pay so we could leave. They saw that we’d left most of the food and said nothing, didn’t ask if we’d enjoyed our food so perhaps didn’t really care. Won’t be coming back I don’t think, as have nothing positive to say about the experience at all.

We visited here on a Wednesday night as we didn't have the kids so why not?!?!I have performed here over the last 9 months or so at a few events so decided to try out the food as I have always just had to watch everyone else eat it while I am singing :(. I have seen how the Hotel as a whole including the restaurant evolve into a very nice venue indeed and they are trying their hardest to become a leading player in the area. They have a set meal option and for about £24 you can get 3 courses which is great value in my opinion. The choice is really good and I always try and have something different and for the price it's worth the punt. The food we ordered was very well presented and delicious and from the first bite to the last we loved it. After the three courses we didn't feel uncomfortably full which is a great thing as there have been so many times we have missed out on desert due to too much food! One thing I didn't realise is that the menu does change on a regular basis depending on what is in season which is great and not seen generally. We will be back! Visited using Tastecard. Excellent service by Amy and a gentleman on reception. I called to ask for a copy of the A La Carte Menu, being a bit of a fussy eater and was updated promptly and professionally. At present, there is only a Fixed Price Menu, though the A La Carte should be available soon (writing this 20.1.2017, visited yesterday). We could use our Tastecard against the TDH menu, though please check with them first, as it is only usually available against A La Carte.Found easily and the building looked lovely. It was dark, though very well presented. We were seated quickly by Olivia. We enjoyed a Merlot and Pinot Grigio and they were very nice wines. In fact, some of the best that we have had by the glass in any hotel. We opted for a main and dessert, I am a "fussy eater" and was not attracted to any of the starters and the Duck bon bons with sweet chilli sauce had sold out. We opted for rump steak (£7.95 extra each) which came with peppercorn sauce and fries and mushroom and tomato. Dessert, Crème Brulee and Sticky Toffee Pudding. The steak was good, not mind blowing but not bad, the peppercorn sauce was fantastic, one of the best we have had in this country. Tomato was quite small and the fries were steak house chips (were frozen). When asked how the meal was, we said OK though we expected fries or home made chips, not steak house ones.Dessert was amazing, the sticky toffee pudding was a taste sensation and so light but rich with flavour. The crème brulee had a perfect crispy coat and a heap of berry compote on top. Dessert was the better meal, though we will definitely go back when the a la carte menu is on. Outstanding service by Olivia and Michael. Toothpicks brought at my husbands request and service with a smile. We look forward to returning in the future. Bet it looks lovely in lighter evenings. Nicely decorated restaurant too. The bit set up for breakfast (I assume) looked a bit out of place, though minor gripe.

I praise Lark Hill as often as I can, for it's amazing food, service and location, and after moving to the area, we have dined here on several occasions with friends, family and as a couple. Always faultless. However Sunday was almost like the restaurant and kitchens were being run by other people. On entry it took the 4 staff being the bar a few minuets to decide who was going to come over to us, then our booking couldn't be found, despite the fact that all bar 2 tables were empty. (And remind so the duration of our meal) The Sunday menu certainly wasn't as blow-away as the first Sunday we visited when we first bought our house. The music was loud and directly over our table. Then at some point the cd finished. And no one changed it. So ourselves and the other 4 diners sat in silence. It was very awkward. The food wasn't on par with other visits, the presentation was almost that of a function, like it had all been prior plated ready to ship out in mass numbers. With white, cheap paper napkins on the plates. Also with our cutlery. They actually remove the nice cloth napkins and replace them for these on a Sunday? The roast consisted of mangetout, green beans, and cauliflower as the only veg so it wasn't very colourful, and the only potatoes were 2 very sad roasties. No boiled or mash in sight, and a frozen-style Yorkshire pudding. For almost £20 pp for Sunday lunch, I would have expected their to be an option for what slice of beef we got - I love pink for roast beef, but no. It was good roast beef to be fair, but defiantly not the best we've ever had. Dessert was very poor. The ice cream trio consisted of 3 blobs of ice cream in a cereal bowl. That was it. No sauces, toppings, or even an ice cream dish. Panacotta served in a water glass that was far too tall for the amount of panacotta in there. Again, sat on a cheap white napkin.I really don't understand how it's gone so wrong on Sundays. We want to eat here more regularly with friends and family, however Sunday just didn't reflect previous visits. I hope it was a one off, and standards improve. Also, please think about uniforms. Untucked white shirts are not smart, and get dirty far too easily.

We chose another red and was served it in an ice bucket! We were therefore a little nervous about taking some more friends last night... BUT... it was great! Different staff completely! Chris and Tom took our orders, and we were serve by the fantastic Helen! The food was just as good as previous occasions and our guests were impressed too! I do however still feel £7.95 supplement for rump steak is over the top. Why not just take it off the menu? We would definitely recommend! and will of course be taking more friends! Thank you for a lovely evening!

Booked this through an offer on Travel Zoo £29 for a three course meal for 2 with a glass of prosecco each. It did state that this was for Monday to Saturday on the voucher but when I phoned to book for a Friday I was told they were no longer taking Friday and Saturday bookings as they had reached the required number so I was slightly disappointed in that. However booked for a Thursday evening and we duly went along. We were greeted by really, really, pleasant and friendly staff and when the food came we were not disappointed. My husband ordered the crab fish cake followed by the sea bass all done to perfection I had the tomato and mozzarella bruschetta followed by the Chicken breast, both were excellent. Then we indulged in cheese and biscuits and the chocolate brownie. Chef or chefs take a bow can thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will definitively be going back however I see the next offer on Travelzoo is for a 2 course meal with Prosecco at £25 which is still very good value and worth paying the full price for the dessert. All in all a lovely meal, lovely ambience and welcoming friendly attentive staff - very much worth a visit and I think if you go once you will definitely return.

Heard so many good reviews about the new Lark Hill Restaurant when we saw a Groupon deal for afternoon tea I jumped at the chance. Visited on Saturday and we received coffee from a filter pot and soon were given our food. Well presented but a little lacking but good choices:- 8 small triangles of beef, egg mayo, ham and tuna, 2 dry scones with cream and jam and 2 slices of carrot cake and 2 victoria sandwich with little pots of crumble. Had to ask for coffee refills overall not great. Another friend had bought a voucher so l revisited and was impressed that we had our own pot of coffee but although when the food arrived was nice to see some salad garnish but 6 finger sandwiches 3 prawn and 3 ham, 2 very dry scones and tiny slices of carrot cake and victoria sponge. We noted other people were getting different sandwiches etc no consistency we were not approached by staff to ask if we were happy and left leaving half the food. A separate email is being sent to management to give them feedback. Won't be back for afternoon tea.

TOOOOO right we did.....We had a chocolate brownee & a Panne Cotte....Both again were fantastic......The drinks were served on request and may I add that the merlot was perfect......All in all a fantastic experience.....The viewsfrom outside were breathtaking........Based on our previous visit this was just as good.......Keep up the good work....

Went here last Sunday on a Wowcher deal for 10 of us and had a fantastic lunch and experience. The Sunday lunch was the best i have had in along time with both the beef and the pork loin to die for.The staff were great and the restaurant itself overlooks the golf course and is surrounded in greenery.A great idea was to serve 2 half bottles of wine instead of a full bottle, which gives people with different tastes flexibility and allows you to take home unopened bottles of wine.I have never had this offered at any other restaurant i have been to (1000s)and a great touch.I have booked another Sunday lunch already on the deal, even though i live in Stockport. The place itself looks fairly new and in due course i would expect it to be a great addition to the area.Well done to all the staff, see you again shortly.

As both a lover of good food and a bargain, I was pleased when Travel Zoo offered a voucher for a 3-course meal for 2 plus a glass of prosecco at the Lark Hill Restaurant in Withnall at the amazing price of £29.Too good to miss remarked ‘She who must be fed’, so after obtaining our voucher off we went on a fine and sunny evening in late April for our first visit to the Lark Hill Restaurant, which is part of the Oak Royal Hotel, Golf and Country Club – A Luxury Hotel complex in the heart of rural Lancashire. The restaurant is on an elevated position with spectacular views towards the North Lancashire hills and over the surrounding countryside. The interior is of the smart modern style with subtle lighting and pleasing décor. Many of the tables afford a view from the large picture windows, which sets the scene beautifully as you browse through the menus. We were greeted by Danielle, a very pleasant young waitress and after an exchange of pleasantries were shown to our table. It was reasonably situated but on looking around we observed that there were empty tables in the heart of the restaurant that commanded much grander views of the rural landscape, which we shall request on our next visit. As patrons with a voucher we were restricted to choose from the Table D’Hote menu. This still afforded plenty of choice over the 3 courses on offer and so we made our selection. Our starters of calamari for me and soup for SWMBF were tasty enough and certainly not over facing and no doubt those with heartier appetites than us could be forgiven for declaring them a tad on the ‘skinny’ side. Our main courses of monkfish scampi accompanied by ‘fat chips’ and pea puree were again adequate if again a little on the parsimonious side, but I hasten to add, quite enough for us. However, may I be excused a little ‘rant’ regarding fat chips in general. Being a born and bred Lancastrian, brought up on ‘proper’ chips from the local ‘chippie’, I cannot understand how these nouveau potato monstrosities masquerading as chips have overtaken in popularity the chip shop variety. I sincerely believe we have been seduced over the years by celebrity chefs into accepting that these chip pretenders are the trendy answer to the real thing. My definition of a chip is a thin to medium strip of potato that is deep fried in fat or oil until golden brown, fluffy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside and full of flavour. The impostors that have had the word ‘fat’ added to their description are uninspiring and tasteless and for lovers of the real McCoy - best to be avoided where possible. Those served at Lark Hill are no better or worse than those served in many similar restaurants. OK, they may be considered healthier and more fashionable but do we always have to sacrifice taste on the altar of dubious health claims? Our plates were cleared by Barbara, who that very day had started work at the restaurant and it was apparent from her pleasant manner that she would easily fit in with the rest of the friendly and attentive staff. For our final course we both opted for the Tarte Tatin accompanied by cinnamon ice cream – again relatively small helpings but very tasty and without doubt the highlight of our meal.We rounded off the evening with a cafetiere of rather nice coffee served again by Danielle who enquired if we had enjoyed our first visit to Lark Hill and would we be likely to return? I informed her that she would need to read my review on ‘TripAdvisor’ for the answer to that and I can now report that the answer is ‘yes’ we will, especially as the restaurant is included in the ‘Taste Card’ list of eating establishments, of which we are members – Told you we love a bargain!

First visit to Larkhill as its close to home.Lovely decor but not sure what atmosphere they're trying to achieve. I'm sorry but though staff are courteous, the black attire and white shirts felt like I was in an undertakers! All a little robotic and stilted with nice but average food. Having said that good value at £22.95 for 3 courses though my husbands choice of monkfish scampi was rather dry, my lamp rump slightly over cooked but ok as a main. Not sure we would return as didn't like the confusing ambience. A need to 'loosen up a bit' and not be so overly formal - there's no need! You can be professional without the overwhelming formality.

We were a little concerned about the lack of response from the hotel/restaurant when we initially called to enquire about booking a meal for 22 people. However, on the night everything went well, apart from a dodgy chair with a loose leg that had to be replaced. The service was brilliant and everyone agreed that the food was lovely, the portion sizes were not overfacing which we thought was just perfect for us. The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient, all credit to them and the chef for making the evening so enjoyable for us.

We were a party of 8 visiting for my mothers 78th birthday. We had hardly got through the door and were immediately asked for our travelzoo vouchers. we were seated at a table next to the front door and toilets so asked to be moved which only happened after a lot of request on our part. As the restaurant was empty on arrival and full on leaving we arrived at 6.15 we would have been in a constant flow of people all evening. The staff were very young and customer service was very poor, We were told we could not order drinks until we had looked at the food menu ! when we did order drinks we were told to slow down.. 2 bottles of wine and four diets .. not to complicated i dont think. The shame is the food was excellent, faultless apart from the fact they got 3 orders wrong. It was also excellent value for money. I would recommend going for the food and on a travelzoo voucher , however dont expect to be over whelmed with the customer service. I will try to return and hopefully they will have their staffing issues resolved.

We visited here several months ago for lunch with friends and were so impressed we vowed to return and today we did.Although we remember our first lunch here as remarkably special as the food and the location were outstanding, today was even better. The location, of course, was just as spectacular with stunning views of the north Lancashire hills, the food was wonderfully presented and mouthwateringly tasty. We enjoyed three courses each, starting with deep fried king prawns, mains of crispy salmon and a beautiful dessert of chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream. Each course exceeded our expectations. Was there a downside ? Well it was disappointing that the only cask ale at the bar was not available today so we were left with standard beers.Nevertheless this remains a favourite location for lunch with food of the very highest standard and a stunning setting.

Bought a voucher for afternoon tea here, after booking a hotel in the locality for a weekend away. When I looked up the restaurant, I found it was linked to a 9 hole golf course, and is itself linked to hotel accommodation. So, as my other half is not really an afternoon tea type of guy, but came along under sufferance, I booked to play golf there first, and then eat afterwards. Cunning eh?The property itself is lovely, great surroundings, restaurant overlooking the golf course and hills round about..really wish we had been staying there!Staff were really nice, welcoming us, and the afternoon tea was delightful. Variety of sandwiches, scones (loads of jam and cream) and several small slices of different cakes..all yummy!! A large pot of coffee and glass of prosecco each what could be better. A lovely way to pass a Saturday and a really nice place!!

I have never heard of this place until I read a review in the Leyland Guardian, I booked the Saturday before Mothers day to take my mum and the rest of the family as we are always up for trying somewhere new and this was only 10 minutes away from us. The grounds and building are beautiful, the decor is tasteful and modern. You can tell it is quite a new venture, there appears to be a bit of ironing out to be done with ambiance and the meet and greet (the room is set out strange) but once we were seated all was fine! The menu was the set menu but with 5 items on each course there was enough to choose from; we chose the soup and the mushrooms which everyone was impressed with, for main, chicken and the pork, the presentation was 1st class and the taste was amazing, dessert was the brownie and the lemon posset which kept everyone quiet and content! Everyone couldn't say enough for each course, the staff were friendly and obviously took pride in what they were doing. We will definitely be back!

This restaurant is set in very pleasant surroundings, with open views of the countryside from the tables. It has a fresh and contemporary feel about the place inside, with a nice relaxed ambiance. We went as a party of five people for a birthday celebration and had the table de hote menu. The starter of goats cheese bon bons, onion chutney and beetroot was quite nice, but there wasn't much cheese evident in the tart. I elected to go for the chicken main meal, which was very succulent and not overdone, but was a little light on accompany vegetables. The sweet was that of sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, and that was super. The service was excellent and the staff fairly attentive. The price was medium to high. All in all, a very nice dining experience and I will certainly consider returning.

Which if you are wondering it means Oh Mamma what great value for money! My last review of this place was several years ago and I think it was 5 stars then. It’s not changed for me. We called in on an off chance at around 6pm on a Saturday evening. The place was busy and we didn’t hold much hope. Thankfully the lady front of house, I think she owns it and I remember her from last time we were there many years ago, kindly squeezed us in provided we were done in an hour. Perfect for us as we only wanted a quick bite. We ordered an Etna pizza and Ndjua pasta. I was DES so the mrs had a glass of house red and I stuck on the corporations pop. The food was awesome and service quick and polite full. What we didn’t realise was that we had snuck in on the pizza and pasta offer and the bill came to…………£20! You’d pay more eating at Maccas! Keep up the great work and don’t believe some of the recent reviews that get 1 star because they can’t split the bill for some grey army! But if people choose not to go then that’s fine by me. It’s a great local restaurant that won’t be as busy so we can enjoy it. Recommended.

My wife ordered a vegetarian burrito via the QR code, got brought a meat one... And inadvertently ate some of it. Not good! Communication seemed to be an issue to both kitchen and to our table, despite ordering via QR code. Also, seemed to be some confusion about when food was brought over too. This should be better, especially when needing to respond to dietary requirements. A replacement meal was brought for free and a refund of the wrong meal too, and staff were apologetic. Mistakes happen but ordering via the QR code and communication should give more assurance that you will get the food you ordered.

From the minute we walked in we were put at ease. We were offered two different areas of the restaurant a quiet one and a slightly rounder one where there were some bottomless brunch going on . Opted for the more atmospheric side and they picked us a perfect table . The evening we were served by Matthew, Max and Alesia. I’m a pretty fussy eater, but no matter what we asked for a little tweets here and there to the menu everything was done without a fuss. The food was lovely, and I can’t wait to go back. Our first visit and it won’t be our last. The manager was lovely also . We had gammon and carbonara with a garlic tomato and cheese bread to Start . All was perfect .
