The Old School House in Milton Keynes

Not great! I had the steak and ale pie which came with the peas positively drowning in gravy and the pie contents thermonuclear hot suspiciously like it had been nuked in the microwave. The peas were rock hard and their replacements were also rock hard. No compensation despite complaining twice. The hazy ale isn't that nice either. Not recommended! 😡

Lovely venue for meeting friends, eating and drinking in a good atmosphere.

Very nice place just a shame about all the pub prices. Nice out door seating areas Food is a little expensive £13 for a small brakefast.

Above London prices in a village smaller than burnt oak.what a shame ....its no wonder places like spoons are thriving.

Stopped in for a Friday lunch time meal. They do a good lunch time deal but we ate off main menu. The spicy chicken burger was hot and juicy, my mum had the jacket spud with chilli, both very good. Good choice of drinks and some craft beer on tap.

Popped in for a late lunch on a whim. Lovely waitress came to table to take our order as they were quiet. Very helpfully checked ingredients of drinks and was patient whilst taking our orders. Unfortunately a few things came out wrong and took a while to rectify, also had to wait for ketchup so kids were left waiting for a while for dinner. The food itself was OK. Chicken burger was fine, sausage and mash is cheap sausages and the gravy wasn't particularly nice. Shame as I went here in October and had awesome hotdogs but the menu has changed and the food standard appears to have dropped. Staff were lovely and went out of their way to help us just a bit disappointed in the actual food.

Amazing little coffee shop does vegan as well only tiny but great you can just pop in but i would book. Fresh cakes and sandwiches and more.

Visited here when looking for a Sunday roast last minute! Football was on and still a "pub" atmosphere like the plough used to be except surprisingly quiet for a Sunday at 5pm! My partner and I got a roast, with some peace and quiet. You don't get table service for food but you get really great food (better than the expectation "pub grub" that we were after) We will definitely be visiting here for a roast again! Highly recommend adding cauliflower cheese & leek to your meal 😋 👌

Great food! Quick and friendly service at a respectable price! PS - The beer battered frickles are so tasty, as we're the halloumi fries... and I don't even like Halloumi fries. 10/10. Will be back!

Not happy with the service on Monday, order at the bar got forgotten, had a very long wait for breakfast, it lunchtime by the time we got it

We had a great evening here and really enjoyed Sandy Flaps' Bingo. We reserved a table in the pub area online. The staff were lovely and attentive and offered table service for both drinks and food. The food was good and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and a genuinely fun evening out.

Attend a 80 birthday bash at the pub and they were so acomdating

Met up with a couple of friends here. Easy to find, available parking, warm welcome. All 4 ladies enjoyed their meals, staff were very pleasant and everything we asked for was done with a smile. Would go again.

I had my birthday party held at the Old School House over the weekend and I would like to say thank you to all the staff for being so friendly and accommodating. We all had a lovely time celebrating! The venue was nicely set up and decorated. We had a buffet for the party and all the guests enjoyed the food. Finally, as it was on Saturday, the DJ was on. We had quite a few children with us and wow, they all loved the music and danced the night away (until 9pm ish). The DJ even threw in a few Disney songs which was super fun.

Only called in for a pint but found pleasant staff and good selection of beers. Very quiet but that's what I like.

£3.60 for a small lemonade or £7.20 for a pint of lemonade. Honestly think you need to rethink this, if you want to encourage families. Shocking Price..!

Used to love this Pub when it was the Plough.. Didn't feel comfortable there today the change is nice but too fussy and very expensive..

Popped in to do some work during lunch. It's a beautiful pub in a great location. Perfect to do some work during the week. Has ample car parking on site (Disabled bay too if needed). I would recommend the Birds & Bees chicken burger. 2 proper chicken fillets with so much flavour and a slight kick. Staff are friendly and helpful.

This was the first time I'd been in here since it was taken over, first impressions was it looked really nice with the colour scheme and lighting, however it was empty (about 15 people) and had quite few bar staff on, apon ordering drinks we were made to use plastic cups, I'd asked can we please have real glasses as we weren't planning on sitting outside as it was the evening, the response was we don't have any clean ones, looking behind her there were 2 trays of dirty glasses, with the bar staff just sitting around chatting they could easily been cleaned, apon entering the toilets there were half eaten sandwiches and more glasses in there to, won't be in a hurry to return.

Full of youngsters and being served drinks in plastic glasses says it all

Yikes I did a 3 Stars = It's an OKAY pub! .. not sure how this generated a "we're sorry you had an upsetting experience!" corporate email, I guess this is an automated algorithm thingie at play!. Again it's a nice clean pub with Charles Wells/Wells & Co beer on draft :)

Toilets were clean but was offered by people in the toilet if i wanted drugs.. Definitely won't be going to their again

Myself and colleagues received a 50% off discount code which we intended to use. When we went to use the code, it wouldn’t load and the staff said they had seen this a lot recently. They said they couldn’t manually put it through and we had to pay full price. Good marketing strategy to get people in, not sure it will get repeat custom when it seems the code deliberately doesn’t load

First time we had food here and it was really delicious. Will definitely be going back.

Waited for over an hour for our order, not once anyone came to apologise for delay or ask if we need anything in the mean time while we wait. When I asked the staff is there any updates of when we will receive food as we were waiting nearly 1.5hours and started to think of going take away across the road - she started argument that "no, it wasn't this long" ... Anyway, we waited and expected food to be delicious, but unfortunately my pasta was too oily - havent even finished and now my stomach is not too well. My opinion this restaurant is overpriced for what it is and the customer service could use some improvement.

Just popped in for Sunday dinner, had roast it was unreal, starters where really nice too. Highly recommend a visit, the service here is top notch look forward to many more visits.

Love the pub, can get noisy when it's full but the food is good quality and filling and the drinks selection is great. Lovely looking place and friendly staff too

well let me start by saying we live in derby and have been having Christmas meals in stony Stratford since 2004 staying with our friends in beechampton. this year we looked at several venues for our xmas meal and came across the old school house festive menu this came out in favour of all the others hands down with choice of food options including a fantastic choice for vegan options, we booked early so a discount was added to our booking. menu choices were easy and confirmation was instant. on the day of our visit we called into the pub early to see where our table was we spoke with the manager and asked if we could be placed away from the resident DJ so we could enjoy our meal and also have a conversation catch up with our friends who we only see once a year. this was no problem came the reply from the manager we were placed in a great spot away from the DJ .when we arrived later that evening we were shown to our table shortly after the food arrived and wow lovely starters all hot and plentiful then came the mains and again presented wonderfully and full plates again good sized portions.. so onto the deserts all served excellently. the table service was excellent the ambience is excellent we loved the Christmas crackers being totally recyclable no plastic toys but instead lovely cardboard tree decorations. and i have to say you made our Christmas night out a brilliant experience thank you. happy Christmas from Steve And Kim Allison. and our friends.

Renovated delightfully recently with a lovely luxe botanicals vibe. Great service and friendly staff. Yummy food, really succulent meats and burgers. Very enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend. Only given 4 not 5 stars, as slightly cold inside, but with the huge energy bills, I understand.

Really nice aesthetic to the place, the service was friendly and professional, and food was delicious. We’ll definitely be returning.

Brilliant little pub for the family. Drinks not to bad on price and the staff are lovely. Especially the lovely manager she was so friendly and even chatted to the kids which they loved. Will definitely recommend and be returning.

Have just been down to Old School House for Bank Hol Monday Afternoon Lunch, Was greeted at Bar by Sam real nice young lad, went on Sat & had dinner, The quality of the food is Amazing cooked to perfection, I had fish & chips wow batter & taste of the fish was fantastic, along with halloumi fries Wow, my wife & daughter in law had the pork belly Wow yet again Perfection, my Son had Smoked Salmon & King Prawn Gnocchi unbelievable as well Wow, & my Daughter had Beef Burger with Chips Yet again cooked to perfectio Thankyou to the Chef Maria what a credit, Wow we will be back…

Incredible pub, one of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve had. Roast beef came perfectly cooked and very, very tender. Came with potatoes, carrots, beans, kale, parsnips and of course, a beautiful Yorkshire pudding. Amazing portion size, and they give you so much roast beef! Great value for your money. Excellent and fast service. Very posh interior, so pretty to look at. Will be going back!

Surprised by our welcome. When we asked for menus, the member of staff didn't even say hello or even speak to us as we were handed a menu. I asked if we had to find a table and order at the bar but still no reply, they just walked off. So did we, out the door.

Since the Reno I have been going here and recently I have been very over the moon with Beth’s Service she always Serves with a smile makes being at the old school house much more enjoyable. Definitely my new local regular.

Cool wine bar - type pub. Some staff are somewhat inexperienced, but it is a slick operation with great winelist and cocktails as well as pints on sale. Not eaten there yet, but looks good.

I have eaten here a couple of times now and at £17 for a main meal I think it’s too expensive Each time I’ve chosen the 4 plates for £20 (+ a starter) as this is much better value than ordering 2 mains Last time I visited I went to a lovely country the pub the next day and it was only £12 ish for mains which I think is much more reasonable Also on my first visit my friend and I stood at the front bar where a young lady was very slowly making cocktails, we stood there for what felt like 10 mins only to be told by her after she had made them that we needed to order drinks round at the other bar (like she couldn’t have told us that straight away)

Have had two lovely evenings now at the old school house. Absolutely gorgeous decor and delicious food. Best of all, incredible service from the whole team, especially Charlie who served us this evening. Will definitely be returning xx

Charlie was our waitress this evening and served us cocktails and food all night. She wwas fab, as was the food and the place looks amazing after the refurb. Charlie was the one that made it special though, making sure we had drinks all night. Thanks and we will be back

The place is nicely done I ordered a salmon with potatoes witch ones was fried in so much oil , tapas nicely presented but messy to eat So really need think about it

Food was absolutely amazing, from the appetizers to the main course. Appetizers, we had delicious calamari, the best ever Onion Ring and Halloumi sticks and Chips (of course) Everything was fresh and hot. Drinks were delicious. We already made reservations to come back Friday night with a big group of friends. Give it a try, you won’t be sorry. Just know that if you want to order the Lamb for 2, It does take 30 minutes, so order along with your appetizers.

This place has recently been done up and the general setting and aesthetics are fine. That's where the positives end. The 2 pints that I ordered the other night were of a terrible standard- absolutely flat as a pancake. There was a guy next to me who ordered 4 pints and they were exactly the same, no life in them whatsoever. In this day and age where consumers are paying a premium you have got to get it right first time and then subsequently every time- there is no excuse. Due to the terrible standard of lager that I was served I will not be returning to this establishment which is a shame. First impressions are important and unfortunately I felt short changed regards to the sub standard product I was served at a premium price.

First Time trying the New Pub Restaurant in Stony Stratford, We were very impressed with the whole Atmosphere & Service not to mention how the place has been updated & modernised to a very high standard, The food was excellent quality & came very quickly, I would Like to Thank the young girl Charlie who served us as she was so polite well mannered & gave us excellent service 👏 Also to mention Sam behind the Bar lovely Chap served us drinks most the day he was such a laugh May I just say that all the staff seemed lovely & polite so will be returning & letting friends know This Place is Just what Stony Needs 👍 Regards Mr J Jones & Family..

Love the burgers and the chips! Lettuce, tomato, gherkins, bun - all done right. Even the slaw is special. It's good when they get the little things right!

Had a wonderful time last week at The Old School House; special thanks to Ollie who provided us with excellent service and delicious cocktails all evening! We ordered the Moroccan lamb shoulder for two, which was cooked to perfection. Thanks again to Emily and her fab team, we will definitely be back soon :)

Brilliant new bar in town! Was welcomed at the door almost instantly. Was just in for a drink but ended up having some of the sharers which were so so good. Nice to have a cocktail bar in town not just pubs. Staff were great and service was brilliant. Couldn't recommend enough. BRAVO team.

Booked a table, fine. When we got there waited a the bar for 15min to tell someone we were here. Shown to the table. Presented with menus and told to go to the bar to order food and drinks. If I wanted that sort of experience id go to JD Wethersp--ns. Yes very busy outside and the bar area but not many tables taken inside. The Plough with fresh paint and a price hike. Really need to up your game.

Visited for drinks will friends this week and I must admit I was quite disappointed. I can't say there was much customer service at all, I wonder if more training is needed. Also the feel of the place just didn't work for us as a group, the neon lighting felt really out of place and the piped music was really poor. Shame really because you can see they are trying to market themselves to a higher price point but for us, it missed the mark.

Excellent food. Brilliant service from Brandon and Monica. Will definitely be back again when I am next in Milton Keynes.

I hadn’t been here before the remodel but just popped in for a quick drink and love the aesthetic! Great size pub with a dog friendly bar and a good size dining room.
