Smashing little pub with a coffee shop on the side, didn't have food as it was a small beer Friday afternoon time. Thankfully it hasn't changed 2024.

Really nice place to stop by on a cycle with dedicated space for bike parking. Wish they had more veggie options but I'm told they're coming in the future and did us a chip butty to accommodate! Nice outside area and the staff are great.

A local pub to me, good sized garden with play area. Reasonable selection of drinks but they only serve food from their outside venue, The Sidings. Unfortunately this was shut when we got there so didn't get to sample anything. It was late afternoon so I'm guessing the walkers/cyclists from the South Downs link path were all at home by then!

Update from old review. The pub no longer serves food but the Sidings kiosk does hot & cold food. Scampi & Chips, Tuna melt pannini, big breakfast roll etc. Also coffee, tea cold drinks & ice-creams.

Only a brief visit yesterday to pick up son in law after his last day at work, but clearly a popular local and serves real ale. Will be making a return visit as it's on the old Downs link railway so good starting/ending point for walks.

Breakfast on a nice sunny morning. Only a choice of baps so no plates and cutlery. The full breakfast bap was excellent and cooked properly (no snotty eggs!). Very popular with cyclists probably because of the numerous bike racks and right on the old railway line. Loads of well distanced outdoor seating, some under cover, play area for the little ones, dogs seem to love it as well. Definitely be back here.

A pub on the edge of town that has done a lot to enable outside drinking, a lot of it sheltered. We visited as a family on a sunny day after a long walk. It was clear that there were a lot of locals who knew each other well, which is always a good sign. A very good selection of local beers and ciders as well as the normal fizzy stuff. Well worth a visit, especially to support a business who is clearly trying very hard in difficult times.

I frequent this route often on my bicycle and do part of the Downs Link Path. This time I had my daughter and grandson with me in the pushchair. The surface is smooth enough for the buggy. The great thing about walking this route that you are surrounded by nature. Trees and bushes of all kinds and at this time of year soft fruits se still abundant. We came across a wild plumb tree and harvested just enough to make a few pots of jam. Was the original seed thrown out of a train window all those years ago? One thing I noticed was that cyclists were courteous when you made room for them. Lovely to see families enjoying a walk together. Then suddenly, the canopy changes from being enclosed to open skies and you cross over a river. Lots of well signed public footpaths take you off the old railway across fields onto a different adventure. The pub at the car park was busy and on this fine day all the tables were occupied with people enjoying themselves. A lovely atmosphere.

It's a rather nice old pub on the old train line that is now the south downs link. Good for a place to stop when out walking or cycling the bridle way. They serve a variety of different drinks at not to bad a price and also serve food. We had the pleasure of ordering some lunch when we went the other day and it was delicious. I had the steak baguette which had so much steak in!!! My other half had the scampi with the biggest thick cut chips you will get see. We took our dogs which where warmly greeted and presented with their own water bowl and we where offered some complimentary dog treats which our girls loved. They have several different seating options including a nice area for children to play in and a beer garden for those whose other halves Wont let them go play on the toys because as she put it, 'arnt you too old for that now' I really think it was because she would be jealous and had to watch the dogs while I haf all the fun. Good pub nice service.

I am ashamed that we have to even leave a one star it was appalling. We came for a family meal on a Sunday afternoon, worst meal of my life arrived to a small car park which we could only just fit into!!!! The staring locals giving us dirty looks and not made to feel welcome. My daughter when in to the play ground area it was fowl and dirty broken toys, broken equipment. It was filthy and broken where we sat down, outside and immediately got up and went inside which was not any better. There were so many flies.when inside we were welcomed buy a dirty stinky run down pub. With stinky dogs every where it smelt like dog excrement. I hate dogs and to let them walk about every where during your meal is unacceptable. The table was extremely dirty stained table cloths, and my glass was filthy. There was even a hair in my daughters drink !!!!! I had to clean the cutlery, It was stained. looking around the (restaurant) dead flies on tables and window ledges dog hair all over floor NOT SUTIABLE FOR EATING AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT leaves you feeling sick!!! so with a chance of food poising give it a try but don't say i didn't warn you. If you like a dog kennel that serves (human food) go for it!

Enjoyed the new Sunday roast menu and the roast beef was amazing. We have a child who is coeliac and they catered unbelievably well for her. We have such trouble wherever we go and her not having a mass selection to eat but they catered just for her. A wonderful country pub, with a lovely atmosphere.

Fabulous meal using quality ingredients, an inventive menu, outstanding staff and service. We have eaten at many Michelin* restaurants over the years, but this is one of the best! We particularly liked that we were seated at a table with a good view of the kitchen, so were able to watch our meal being prepared and plated. Each course was then brought to the table by either Ben Wilkinson, or one of the team who explained what everything was. Each course on the tasting menu was very different so the totality of the meal was well balanced. The flavours within every plate were complex, sometimes surprising, but always a delight. We loved the way the flavours in a single mouthful changed as it was chewed and swallowed. Staff achieved the perfect balance of efficiency and friendliness. The wine flight was on the expensive side, but we are not big drinkers so shared one between us - which the sommelier was happy to accommodate. My biggest regret is that this restaurant is not closer to where we live. Thank you to everyone who helped create and serve this meal - you are a credit to your profession and well deserving of your accolades.
