Had a fantastic meal with great service. Delicious food and good-value prices. Very friendly atmosphere. We are visitors to Braunston but would love a pub like this local to us.

Very disappointed from the beginning. Half of the starters and five of the main courses were not available as they had run out. I can understand perhaps something on a special board running out but not off the main menu. One of our party doesn't eat meat and we were told that all 3 of the fish dishes were not available. She then ordered mushroom risotto. The waitress came back to us after taking our order and said that the risotto was not available either! In hindsight, we should have actually left at that point! We then had to wait almost an hour for our food to be served! Yes the meal was nice but the service and the long wait was not. The staff didn't even come over to apologise or explain why we were having to wait for so long. Definitely won't be visiting again, which is a shame as it's good to support local pubs but the service was extremely poor.

My wife and I were staying in Braunston for the weekend and had lunch at the Plough on Friday and Sunday. I have really annoying food issues (Gluten and Allium) and the hosts could not have been more friendly and obliging. The food was very fresh and tasty. Sunday lunch was a particular treat. Rare to get a full roast with gluten free yorkshire and gravy. Definite repeater. Thank you so much.

Great pub and super friendly staff. 5 old mates(and CAMRA members) on a narrow boat trip last here 5 years ago. what a change! We had a lively evening with some hilarious banter with barperson/waitress Sianne. Steak and red wine meal deals good value and a pleasure to find a pub that didnt serve the dreaded Doombar. In Siannes words 'no self respecting pub should have Doombar'. Thoroughly recommended

Took a trip out to Braunston from Moulton, Northampton for a spot of lunch after being recommended ‘The Old Plough’ by a friend. Cannot fault the recommendation. Food was excellent in a bright and friendly atmosphere. Host was friendly and attentive to our needs. Would highly recommend the baked Cod Loin and the Cookie Dough Salted Caramel Crunch Pie for desert. Would definitely go again.

I visited and reported on this pub on my previous time passing through Braunston on my boat. It was the first place to visit after mooring up. Once again the people are so nice and friendly. The food is really good, good portions and very well priced. Sunday roast my favorite meal of the week was proper good old fashioned cooking. I cheekily asked for extra roast spuds as i love them so much and my nickname is "potato head". They kindly brought out an extra bowl at no extra cost!. Highly recommend this pub. Its only a short walk from the canal. Its dog friendly in the main bar and garden area.

Had lunch there. The specials advertised weren't available even though we got there at 12:00. All three of us thought the pub food was distinctly average at best and not that well cooked. My lasagne topping (basically a very thick cheese sauce) didn't look fresh and the gammon wasn't fried enough so the fat was quite uncooked. Chips were poor. The most disappointing lunch/meal of the canal trip.

The food here is best described as standard pub food done well, and was excellent value. The portions were in my view very appropriately sized (ie not too large!). The stand out points for me were three good real ales, well kept; very good value for money (10 drinks and 8 two course meals, 3 of which were kids) came in at £100; but the stand out point was the incredible welcome and friendly style of Bradley who served us. It was the wonderful welcome which got the 5th star!

As pub menus go, this was in a different league. Ate there 2 days in a row! Superb value for money - food absolutely delicious and worthy of a top class restaurant (compliments to the new chef!), but the place has a relaxed “pub vibe” too. Best of all worlds! Highly recommend if you’re looking for cosy pub lunch at an affordable price, but with wow factor.
