Staff are rude and inattentive. Phoned up prior to ensure what sport I wanted to watch was on. Despite prior assurances they wouldn't put it on and treated us with contempt.

My favourite pub in Burscough, I come in here 3 or 4 times a week for a pint and a game of pool and I am treated like family. Lisa and Ian have done a fantastic job at building a great atmosphere that is welcoming to everyone. The staff are a credit, always know how to have a laugh. The beer is great, as is the music. Fantastic pub, the place to be in Burscough. Families & doggos welcome. I come here a couple of times a week and I feel like part of the family. All staff are lovely. Lisa and Ian have done a fantastic job at building a brilliant atmosphere with nice beer, good music and good all around vibes. The place to be.

Lovely pub with lots of entertainment, darts, pool, fruit machines , live music, Thursday bingo. Never met such friendlier staff who above and beyond.

Since Lisa has took over the pub is going from strength to strength. They don't serve food yet but atmosphere is amazing. They have some great music on at weekends to.

Visited for drinks on a beautiful sunny day and sat in the beer garden on the canal. They had music playing and it was a lovely atmosphere just watching the boats going past. Good choice of drinks and pleasant staff, will call in again.

Rocked up.at 10.30 on a Saturday and the place was relatively empty. But we were served with our drinks very quickly. The prices were really good. Maybe look at trying the food next time we go.

A pleasant pub situated by the canal. Down to earth feel. Staff were attentive and checked on us regularly for drinks. Table service (July 2021) which was fine with us. More of a drinking pub with good selection of drinks.

Staff are aggressive.. especially the manager. From the minute we arrived, we were barked at and felt like we were an inconvenience. Incredibly, I was asked for feedback of how they were doing compared to local competition and when I suggested they perhaps stop allowing people to drink themselves to the point of oblivion (one man wet himself in front of us) I was told that it was all in my head. I've tried to encourage friends and family to give this place a try over the years, but won't be doing anymore. Avoid like the plague. This establishment is not family friendly. In Burscough there are places which are heaps better where I would encourage you to spend your money. Nobody should have to be subjected to aggressive behaviour from staff and other customers, but if you come here, there's a huge likelihood you will be.

It was in one door with mask and out the other door wi th a mask but i drank my drink in the garden overlooking the canal and could smoke outside wich gave us more freedom than inside

Usually come in on a sunday and am never disappointed with the great atmosphere. All ages of people and a dog or two. Beer is well kept and the people behind the bar are very friendly and attentive.

The old packet house is conveniently located at the side of the leeds/Liverpool canal. It's a real locals pub with a warm friendly atmosphere. My food and drinks were lovely and I found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating.

Beer's great. Rugby/football on the big screen. An enjoyable visit.

OMG, I grew up in this area and never went in this pub. We was passing through on a narrow boat so thought we would call in for a drink. Now I know why Ive been in there in the past. Nor would I want to go in the future. Cold looking & drab and boy was there some odd looking people.

Do not go here. How anybody can be in the customer service industry when they are as obnoxious and arrogant as the manager of this place baffles me.The sooner the owner gets rid of him the better.

Pleasant, clean and friendly, nice range of beers and lagers, food is reasonably priced but mainly fried or microwaved. Nicely situated by the canal worth a visit.

We stopped here for the first time today and we really enjoyed our visit. The landlord and chef were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely, fresh and perfectly cooked. The chip were homemade and gorgeous. We sat in the beer garden overlooking the canal it was so relaxing we could of stayed all day. Will definitely visit again.

Doesn't deserve one star. Landlord shouted shut up at my 5 year old Autistic child because he was making a bit of noise then made his mum wait ti be served after other people because in his words "they don't have shouting children with them". No apology after my Son's autism was explained to him. Funny how he didn't tell me to shut up when I went to have a word. He's an arrogant bully that thinks he can mistreat women and children. Avoid.

I recently had a terrible experience in this establishment, I visited with my friend & my son who is autistic,bearing in mind this place has sign outside welcoming children & a children's menu, he served people who came in after me,I asked why and was told because my son was shouting , several times he shouted at my son to be quiet, I was very upset & left in tears while the landlord sarcastically waved good bye. Very unpleasant man to put it mildly, I will never go there again, and would advise anyone with children not to go there .

Lovely country pub. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit

We turned up here by accident and we was 10 minutes after they had stopped serving food. However they still accepted our order and made us feel at home. The food was good standard good portions. And reasonably priced. The scenery off the canal is lovely and dogs are welcome also. Absolutely fantastic

An idyllic pub set beneath a canal bridge. The locals look older than the pub itself and seem to be still celebrating England's '66 World Cup win. In this busy boozer everyone buys a shot with their drink..even the kids. Legend has it that Margaret Thatcher was conceived upstairs in early 1925. Nice draught ales. Shabba x

Landlords are very friendly. Good food. Exceptionally clean. Love the log burning fires. Would recommend for anyone. Quick pint, couples or families.

We are based in burscough and have really tried to support The Packet , however tonight my wife and i visited for drinks . We believe it as now become a working mans pub , at 8.30pm this evening several guys lying on the floor drunk . Its really not the place for a couple to enjoy a nice drink . In fact there was only us as a couple and one other. It wasn't so long ago Friday night they had a singer and a good mixture of clientele. Definitely our last visit .

Brilliant canal side pub has a beer garden overlooking the Leeds Liverpool canal not tried the food but believe its very good staff very friendly.has a lovely open fire burning logs lovely and clean inside very welcoming no car park but one across the road.

Called in completely unplanned. Had a slight wait as a party of 10 had been seated just before us which is completely understandable... When the food arrived my partner and I were completely blown away with the quality and the portion sizes. Everything cooked to perfection and the value with incredible! Very happy experience and we look forward to returning!

Good beer in a friendly environment

After a walk with Maisy the 1 year old black lab we retired to the Old Packet House, next to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Burscough. There were five of us, including Maisy, we all had lovely lunches, she was not left out, with a clean bowl of water and some doggy treats! Very good choice of dishes on offer, catering well for the non-meat-eaters too. I had a delicious sweet potato crumble and the mushroom wellington was also much enjoyed, but the Sunday roasts looked good too. The vegetables all looked freshly cooked, rather than frozen and very seasonal: carrots, savoy cabbage, swede and sprouts. We did get there earlyish, around 1 o'clock, and were surprised it wasn't busier, it's well worth a try, perhaps it gets busier later? All in all a very friendly welcome, good food, good service, what's not to like! We shall go there again. The coffee was great too!

Came here last Sunday with my husband and twin toddlers and it was lovely. The staff were so welcoming and the food was great. We sat next to the window so the children waved to the barges that past. The perfect pub for us 👌

First time visit on our visit to Burscough. A great pub where you can sit overlooking the canal. Just had drinks with friends which were really nice. Staff really friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be going back to try the food next time. The menu had a good choice and value for money. We also made friends on this visit. A great experience!

first time here decided to go as they advertised lite bites as we are two old codgers we cant eat as much as we could i had the steak which i must say was cooked just as i like it not burnt to a frazzle hubby had the cheese pie said it was very tasty but a bit too much cheese for him the chips were spot on and the veg not overcooked lovely and fresh the landlord and chef friendly we sat overlooking the canal which was relaxing we will be going back as we thought it was good value.

My boyfriend brought me here for a meal for date night. Inside had more of a local feel. And my boyfriend commented I thought it was better than this.. However we picked a nice quiet table looking over the canal which was quiet a romantic spot.. the staff was friendly.. our meals was really nice.. I had Gammon and chips, an I'm not a chip fan but they was amazing chips.. I would definitely recommend here

A friendly pub in a lovely position on the Leeds Liverpool canal. Outside garden and some decking next to the canal. Food is rather ordinary but not expensive and the position and warm welcome makes up for it. Very child friendly - the older couple are lovely with little ones.

Stopped for a lunch today,great pub menu but we decided on a selection of the light bites. Six in total and was more than enough for 4 of us. Excellent service from both the landlord Michael and Christine the bar lady. Nothing was too much trouble and so polite. Such a warm and welcoming place can't understand if anyone has anything negative to say. Great entertainment evenings advertised for Saturday evenings also. This pub is under new management so some of the old reviews May be from then but do not be a put off. We had a great meal and not expensive definitely be back. Not very often these days, do you get that service with a smile.

The menu is very basic, burgers, fish and chips, gammon etc. So I wasn't expecting much, I wasn't surprised to find that I was right.

Good range of drink, good food and a warm welcome. A little quiet mid week but busier at weekends. Nice spot to sit out on a sunny day, next to the canal.

Great food just takes a while to arrive

The waitress had no problem putting 3 tables together to accommodate us. We ordered the food which was all freshly cooked so don’t expect a 5 min turnaround. We ordered three little plates of food. When it came out it was well presented and really hot. My husband ate all the chilli & garlic prawns and declared them as delicious. Good cider. Thank you to all the lovely staff there. When next in Burscough we will return but also recommend to all our boating friends.

Visited here as 11 iOS us wanted a ‘chatty’ lunch. Excellent service. Hospitatility good. Waitress - nothing too much trouble.
