Nice destination for a ride out, open water swimming or diving. Great value food in the cafe served by friendly staff.

Lovely little pub. I’ve been to the Delph many times over the years at different ages and I’ve always loved it! Friendly atmosphere and staff. Large selection of drinks. Not had food here so can’t comment on that but I’d imagine it’s nice!

Pity they don't do meals anymore but always a cracking pint! Great beer garden and service with a smile!

Went from our hotel nearly 40 mins away walking, about 15 in taxi. Spending nearly 12 quid to get there to be told they dont serve food anymore. Not happy management has not taken the time to make a note of this on google maps, you need to do better so this doesn't happen to other people like us on a small budget in the future.

Called at lunch and had a lovely pie and a pint. Great deal on at the moment.

I come here with Billinge Running Club. They serve the best Guinness and Sausages in the land

Not TOO sure if they serve food during the day here but we call in around 9.30pm every Wednesday as it's quiz night, we love it here

Saturday 1st July 2023 We visited this great real ale pub today The is a old fashioned country styled public house with very pleasent staff. There was today 4 interesting real ales on and they were really well looked after This pub has got lots going for it and I would advise all real ale drinkers to come here and sample this pubs ales

Good choice of cask ales keg beers. Quiz night Wednesday (get in early to get a seat). Multiple TVs in both rooms showing sport.

Always a great night out, staff lovely and welcoming, a good pint. Quiz great and appreciate the mid quiz chips!

Good traditional pub, excellent bar staff.. Only popped in for hour..errr 3 hours later. Lol. Regulars friendly too enjoyed trying few beers.. Will be back

Have been here a few times with family. We came tonight and there was a private function. We went into the other side to get a drink and was refused saying regulars only !! Ignorant so and SO's. Safe to say we will not return. Very rude and laughing at is on way out. Nasty if I could give zero stars I would

My wife and I dined at the Delph Tavern after our long Billinge ramble. Staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. Food and drink were served in a reasonable amount of time and was Excellent. An extremely good atmosphere and quite busy for 6pm on a Friday evening. Thank you to all at the Delph Tavern.

Used to be a great boozer, but going downhill very fast. Not had any refurbishment for donkeys years. New or refurbished establishments in all nearby directions from this pub, but yet it resists change.

The food was excellent, the staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was good. Friday was my first time here but it definitely won't be my last.

Cosy pub. Good small play area outside. Good drinks. Super food. Lovely local pub.

Great pub that I've known all my drinking life. I worked there in the late 70s early 80s around University Terms. One of the few pubs left in Orrell. Good selection of beers friendly staff. Will visit again next time I'm visiting Lancashire family.

Don’t know what’s happened to this place. 9 pound for a burger to come on its own, if it came without chips I would assume the server should ask “do you want it with chips” just burger and cheese no salad or sauce. Literally a lone burger on a plate for 9 pounds The burger was mostly inedible and didn’t taste like meat and had a strange aftertaste. I’ve had nicer burgers from McDonald’s and that’s saying something. Kids meals ok, staters small portions but again ok. The glasses of coke tastes extremely watered down. Such ashame as a few years ago the food here was amazing. I thin in this might be the worst “meal” I’ve ever had in a restaurant

There was unusual ales I've not seen anywhere else but they wasn't cheap!

The prices are astronomical considering the food. Nice drink and nice food but £13 for one meal? I could just go to the Mount and get a meal for way cheaper. Its a shame too as they have such lovely food. There are also massive potholes in the ground of the carpark that need to be fixed. The outside of the pub doesnt really look special and nor does the inside and the food was okay. This pub needs a defining feature to set it apart from the other pubs, and a reason for me to go to the Delph and not the Mount .

Great pot holes.My missus was driving and tried to reverse without giving it poke.She said Phone THE AA..I got out of car,realised there were ruts in the asphalt...weed myself.Lovely pub,great hosts,met a former pro footballer from the 70s.Nice find.Grrrrreat pint too.

Called in two weeks ago, saturday tea time 5pm, had the pork cheek tostada's very tasty. other half had a special burger from the specials menu, we ordered a portion of chill cheese chips. really enjoyed it. service was good and friendly. cheesecake for dessert very nice. he was happy as they had Tiny Rebel Club tropica on draught.

Orderd drinks young waitress brought over, her hair was in my drink as she leant over to give it to me she just quickly pulled it out thinking I hadn't seen,ordered burgers and chips brought out the burger with out chips thought she had gone back for chips but never reappeared ,10 minutes later came back out of kitchen but I'd already eaten half I asked about chips she just said oh did you want chios ,well yes I did order them I just did without,wanted to order sweet for grandson I asked when they came to clear mains away but she never came back for order,the young staff just seemed to be chatting in the kitchen,mum had Sunday dinner there wasn't any mash so they gave her herb potatoes which spoilt the taste of the dinner she only had one carrot sliced in half with what seemed a t spoon of cabbage and dry chicken breast overall felt it was a waste of money don't no if we went on on off day but was very disappointed felt like they just couldn't be bothered .

Warm bottled lemonade in a shandy that the staff did not know how to pour, no glasses offeted with the cans of pop we bought.

Looks like a nice place but waiting 10 minutes to someone come take drink order and over 45 min no one takes order for food 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ after all the time waiting we walk away.

OK food quick to serve tables wernt very clean.

Went for a family meal. Pub was very dated, service from staff was really quick, friendly waitresses. Been wanting to go for ages having had a lot of recommendations from friends about different dishes- noticed on the menu that the grilled cheese sandwiches and gyros people have raved about weren’t on the menu? Not sure if they had a simplified menu due to covid? Also you don’t do starters?! Unsure why? One of our favourite things about coming to a restaurant as a family is ordering a variety of starters just so we can have a pick at different food. Myself and kids ordered the burgers, can I say the portion sizes are absolutely huge and even though I have a big appetite I could have shared a main meal. Very good value for money, chips were delicious, burger was a bit dry but definately not the worst we’ve had. Would come for another visit but hope you extend the menu

Big pub with proper covid measures in place.

Food served in plastic baskets, not well presented and portions small. My mum got black paint on her trousers from the table she was sitting at and although we complained nothing was done. All in all we had a very negative experience and wont be visiting again

Not your average pub-grub. Lots of little extras that give the food that high end restaurant look and taste. Some exotic choices available and done to a high standard. I would recommend a meal here, lunch or evening.

I visited this pub with a friend a few weeks ago , the staff member took us to our table took our drinks order then when we were ordering our food was told to read the memo on the menu that they don't serve food to people with food allergies or intolerance because they have a small kitchen and cannot assure cross contamination , fair enough but would have liked to have been informed of this before being shown to a table and our drinks order being placed and served and when I questioned it the person who served us was quite rude and unfriendly ,

Booked a table today as the place came recommended by my neighbour. Great place,fantastic food,couldn't fault a single thing. Our waitress was very chatty and welcoming, cant believe we have never been before as it's only down the road. We'll definitely be back very soon.

What a brilliant pub. Excellent tasty food selection with warm and friendly staff (Lucy in particular is outstanding). Never disappoints me with the beer selection, well worth the visit. Would definitely recommend you give it a try!

Another excellent visit. We went as a family of 6. Staff were very helpful. The service was quick and the food was excellent. The chicken club sandwich was huge. We will be returning. No complaints from our visit.

We have just returned home from a visit to the Delph tavern in Orrell near Billinge,after reading various recommendations on Trip advisor.What a mistake,I ordered a black pudding starter just a few slices of black pudding arrived in a so called pepper sauce.It was a bit tasteless apart from the burnt edges around the pudding,my main course was the Chicken Sunday roast no good and probably the least said about it the better,would we go back (Don't think so ) I got the impression that it's all microwave .

Really friendly people, old style pub, not for the young crowd which suited us just fine. We were in Orrell for a funeral of a dear friend. The Delph laid on a great spread of food and the staff and locals were really friendly. 5 stars.

First time to Wigan & this is a great friendly pub. Good selection of drinks. Food is lovely. Prices are good. Guinness is wonderful here. Very clean. Great outside seating area with a child's play area.

Took a day trip to Wigan on a day trip and stopped here for lunch. What a treat! We had the Fish and Chips and a Chicken sandwich. We waited for our food but boy was it worth it. Everything was freshly made and was very very good! Definitely give it a try!

Met up with family for 5pm meal. Meal was ok nothing special chips were all over cooked to the point of all being crispy. Other tjan that the meal was fine.

So today me and my family decided to go and try the Delph Tavern as rumours are the food is amazing! I ordered the sunday chicken dinner which was amazing couldn't fault that at all so thank you to the chef! But.... I ordered my 2 year old daughter 2 scoops of vanilla and strawberry icecream lets makes this clear she nearly choked on a large peace of plastic that to me and her dad looked like ice at first glance but when we took it out of our babies mouth is was plastic. we called the young man who was the waiter he took the peace of plastic to the kitchen and then came back to apologise and said the ice cream tub had broken and he was sorry and to refund us the price of ice cream off our bill. Nothing else was done I think that is very shocking. considering my 2 year old daughter nearly choked and that was the outcome! I hope in further if the ice cream tub breaks then they act very quickly as that would cause you alot of problems. I wont be coming back for the reason only.

had a Sunday lunch here on the 13th October and it wasn’t up to the usually good standard. The roast potatoes had an old mouldy smell and taste and it lacked vegetables. We only had a swede mash no other vegetables? People who came in after us had broccoli on so maybe they’d forgotten. The young staff who where serving seemed a bit distracted, we would have liked another drink but didn’t come to ask us and they weren’t particular busy? If we go again, will ask for no roast potatoes and more vegetables!

Visited with my wife after reading some good reviews on TripAdvisor and an ovetall score exceeding 4. Menu choice was very limited unless you liked burgers or curry. My wife was fancying Scampi but alas, not on the menu. We ordered Steak but the only choice was Rump no Sirloin which is our preference. We asked for it to be cooked the Well done side of Medium but is was overdone even for Well done. In fact one side of each steak was burnt black. The Onion rings were a huge portion and well cooked to boot but were no compensation for two poorly cooked steaks.

Decided to go out for lunch and came to the delph to give it a try.

Came with my brother and the staff were excellent, the chef even came out to ask about the food which never happens! The food was absolutely delicious and I can tell the staff are very passionate about the quality of food and service. 11/10 will absolutely eat here again. Excited to go back.

Great selection of beers, good bar staff, good ambience...

As I live locally I have eaten in here several times. Whilst I will agree with some of naysayers the menu is possibly not the most memorable. That said I have never had a bad meal and sometimes when you visit a restaurant you can be overwhelmed by choice.

Went recently at short notice for Sunday lunch and so glad we did. My wife has allergies and they went overboard to ensure she was well looked after. Plenty room.

Recommend anyone to go here for the food. Great quality creative burgers for a great price.

The food here is amazing every time I’ve visited, you can’t fault the place. The team and chefs must work hard to provide excellent food and service. The Sunday roast are always a favourite for myself and family. We also love the Cubano Sandwich that they’ve started doing! 10/10 would recommend visiting this place

I recently sampled the food at the delph with my wife on the recommendation of some friends, we both ordered the fairground burger and I upgraded my fries for chilli cheese fries for an extra £1.50. Overall I thought it was fantastic value two enormous meals and a couple of soft drinks for under £30 we were both very full!! I was especially impressed by the chilli cheese fries smothered in cheese sauce and chorizo and garnished. There were lots of options for fun sides, loaded fries burgers and sandwiches it was a struggle for us to choose what to have! We will have to return to try everything!! We were impressed with food and service however décor was very tired looking so possibly a revamp is in order!

We were recommended this pub by a friend. So started to follow them on Facebook. The pictures of the food looked ace so decided to go try for ourselves. The pictures are way better than it really is. (must have a good camera or filter) Very disappointed! Very dirty and tired looking inside, we thought we had stepped back into the 1980's or gone to the wrong place? None of the extravagant dishes like what gets posted on fb on the specials menu, and the normal menu was a bit of a let down.

Been here a few times, this time I wasn't impressed by the food as a usually am. I think they've changed suppliers. It wasn't a good move.

We tried one of the various beefburgers on the menu. The meat in the patty was awful, tasted like it had been boiled not grilled or fried, and it certainly didn't taste like any beef I'd eaten before. Major fail

A totally unmemorable experience in a grotty run down pub with an identity crisis and trying to be something it isn't. Do you come here to watch sport or enjoy an upmarket dining experience?Scruffy signs abound with out of date "award" certificates festooning scruffy windows. We were given tatty menus bearing the legend "Winter 2018 menu" and there was no proper wine list to be had; one choice of red wine only. Food was average to poor and not well presented. How this place survives beggars belief. Steer well clear! The owners need to take a long hard look at this operation if they want to attract and keep new custom.

Visited the delph on recommendation to try the burgers and we were not disappointed! I had the plain Jayne burger and loaded up my friends with double bacon and cheese. So good! Very reasonable prices and the food is amazing! Highly recommend and will return.
