Spacious, bright cafe and friendly staff. Lovely decaf latte (nice and mild). Halloumi flatbread was tasty. Sticky toffee pudding was very nice. Nice shop too selling gifts, cards, clothes, shoes and perfumes. Large car park. No problem getting a table mid week afternoon.

I can't speak highly enough of Annalise and the incredible service she provides at The Paddock. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel genuinely welcome, greeting us with a warm smile and a friendly attitude that instantly put us at ease. It’s clear that she truly enjoys what she does, and that enthusiasm shines through in the way she interacts with customers. Throughout our visit, Annalise was attentive without being intrusive, always checking in at just the right moments to ensure we had everything we needed. She offered excellent recommendations, demonstrating a real knowledge of the menu, and went out of her way to accommodate any special requests. It’s rare to find someone who balances efficiency with such a personal touch, but Annalise does it effortlessly. Very disappointing Sunday roast, 1 carrot 3 sugar snap peas and a small florett of colly and no Yorkshire.

My Wife and I went for lunch 3 Feb 2025, first time we’ve been and we were absolutely delighted. The staff were very pleasant and efficient, the restaurant was reasonably busy but the staff all coped very well. The food, we had haddock and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, was in our opinion excellent. The portions were generous and well presented. It wasn’t cheap, £38 for the two of us including a coke and a coffee however you tend to find that you get what you pay for, we’ve normally found that cheap meals taste exactly that, cheap. I am delighted to recommend.

We were stood outside in the freezing cold at 10:05, when they should have opened at 10:00, which is unacceptable. Don't you really hate it when the staff ask you if you have booked and when you haven't make a big deal about it when they know they have tables available. The food was fine, decent cafe quality, but at restaurant prices.

Great coffee, really nice staff (professional, fast and double checked our order (query about kind of milk with the coffees)). Nice lunch food! Not easy to find (no sign for The Paddock by the road - you need to know that it's part of shopping mall).

Ordered 2 x sandwiches, 2 x elderflower cordial and 1 portion of chips. Total cost was £34-05p. Thought that was expensive for a sandwich lunch even the cashier had to double check the receipt. Sandwich bread was so thick you had to eat it with a knife and fork, not easy to digest such thick bread. Mentioned it to the waitress not interested also another lady complained about the thick bread.

First visit to The Paddock and very impressed. Staff were helpful and attentive. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and cooked to my liking. Sausages were the best I've had in a long time! Latte coffee was very good, too! Will definitely be returning for another visit.

We had what we thought would be afternoon tea and got the picnic table very disapointed not able to eat most of it scones very dry and small fell to bits when cut not straw chips with Wigan kebab not worth the money 1/10

We didn't actually get to the Paddock to eat. I made a reservation online for an afternoon tea. I wanted to treat my friend to the picnic bench afternoon tea which we have had enjoyed previously pre-covid. I phoned ahead on the day to enquire about the picnic bench only to be told that we needed to give them 48-24 hours notice. When I made the booking online, nowhere does it highlight this information! I received a confirmation email which also did not inform me of the need to ring ahead to book the picnic bench in advance. The staff on the other end of the phone were unhelpful and adamant of the 24 hour rule stating that it tells you on the website. Why would I read through the website when I just wanted to book the table? The head chef refused to accommodate us so I cancelled the booking. Very disappointed in the lack of communication by the Paddock.

Disappointed with our visit today. Service very slow and staff just ignored us; we waited 30 minutes and then had to work hard to get someone's attention to take our order. One of our meals (salmon and rice noodle stirfry) was so salty it was inedible. Told a waitress who wasn't interested. Customer service was very poor, and given that it's not cheap (£18.50 each for our main courses) I would have hoped for better. The setting is lovely and the attached shops are nice for a mooch round but the restaurant lets it down. Sadly, won't be visiting again.

Great place to shop. Has a great butchers. The restaurant has a good choice of meals from hot food down to a lovely afternoon tea.

Amazing customer service and food, great location

Visited our Son and Daughter in-law who visit The Paddock regularly, took us there today for lunch ( 26th August ) a very rude lady came to take our order, we later discovered she was the Restaurant Manager, I'm sorry but this young lady needed an attitude transplant, or she is clearly a not in the right job, such a shame as the food was wonderful, spoilt the experience a little for us .

Had the best leek and potato soup I've ever had. Really want the recipie hint hint 😉 The menu was great and everyone else's food looked amazing. Will definitely be back

This has been one of my favourite places to eat. Called in for lunch recently and was disappointed. Ordered baked king prawns, only 3 prawns! It was £9! The triple cooked chips were undercooked and soggy and the asparagus broccoli and chorizo was cold. Not sure why as it has always been superb in the past.

Went for lunch with family, they had the crispy beef on a flat bread which was good, I had Haddock and chips, the batter wasn't cooked and the chips weren't crisp, by the time I got to talk to the waitress I had nearly finished, the Paddock is a good place to eat but must have been having a bad day.

Called for lunch and ate outside paying before the food was received. Ordered lamb Sheesh which was disgusting and made up mainly of bread crumb and little or no lamb served with a small salad and flatbread priced at 16.75. Upon complaining I was told I could have a sandwich as a replacement an offer I refused and left. Unhelpful staff more concerned about their profit margins than customers. It made me take a look at the whole menu which if any one reviews will see cheap food products despite the fact the butchers sells some excellent meat not on the paddock restaurant menu. Why well just pure financial greed. Stay clear of the expensive poor food quality cafe who seem to rely mainly on female pensioners as customers.

Loved it here. Will be coming again. Food superb (and it takes a lot to please me as I'm a real foodie) and also gave me much needed retail therapy. This place is a gem. I don't know why I haven't discovered it before.

Derby House farm shop heard about Revive and decided they'd like to partner with us so that their community could experience there benefits of Beetroot, Turmeric and Ginger

Seemed a little expensive at first glance but when the food arrived it was worth every penny,it can get a little noisy probably due to the low ceilings ,I had the fish and chips and it was delicious and the staff super friendly

Seemed to be a lovely place but we never actually managed to get to the food. We were told to wait 10min before we can order and then when we tried to, we were informed that we cannot order until a dozen other tables were ready to order! Most bizarre thing ever. But the grounds were lovely for the kids to play in while we waited those 10min.

Very nice place to visit this is my second visit in a week, the afternoon food is better than the breakfast but that is still very good. The staff ar helpful and friendly, the place gets very busy and you are asked if you have booked a table when you arrive so my suggestion is always try to book ahead before your visit. The afternoon we went the pie was amazing it is on the pricey side but you do get what you pay for and the flavour and presentation was awesome. We also had the wrap and soup deal again on the pricey side but this was also fresh and very tasty. The paddock also sits inside Derby House which is great for some retail therapy for those little things you just need, great butchers too and for those extra special bits needed for a dinner date it's a must visit but do take your credit card as prices are high due to the quality on offer

Called in for coffee and cake. Have visited before. I had the raspberry velvet cake. The selection of cakes is excellent, as is the food menu. We have not yet had a meal, however we will be coming back in the future.

Great food, which was tasty and well presented. It’s a busy place which shows how popular it is, especially with “ladies doing lunch” it appeared. Nit cheap with a main course being about £17, but it was a pleasant place to eat. Good GF cakes also.

Had to change booking because of bad weather. No problem.

The staff are polite and friendly. However my experience was diabolical. We were told what the pie of the day was and then when trying to order it was told they don't have any, showing poor communication between staff members. We waited half an hour for very possibly the worst food we have ever had! The burger was absolutely awful and tasted strangely and the mash came with no gravy which we had to ask for twice. Overall a very poor experience indeed!

Good well cooked food ! Went with 3 other friends. What I found was it's difficult to hear what our friends were saying as when the dinner room is full it's quite noisy.

Had a lovely Christmas lunch here - succulent turkey, friendly staff and prompt service despite being very busy.

Just had the most delicious Christmas lunch at The Paddock tea room/ restaurant. Oh my goodness, the parsnip soup was so tasty with a huge slice of thick farmhouse bread. Then, one of the nicest turkey roast dinners I've had in a long while for dining out. Mash potato , roast spuds , sprouts, carrots, parsnip , a huge thick slice of turkey with gravy and cranberry sauce on the side. No yorkshire pudding, but I think that's controversial on a Christmas dinner. It didn't take any points off it, though. Absolute compliments to the chef and the waiting staff , they were all so lovely and friendly . Not forgetting the cheese cake so delicious and yummy-tastic. Would definitely recommend you, and we will be back to do afternoon tea, which was a head turner for me today . Thanks, guys, for making my Christmas dinner date with my best friend a lovely one. Excellent friendly service. Thai chicken salad bowl very tasty and my partner really rated the hotpot pie. We were too full for dessert but took delicious cakes home.

Went in for a Christmas outing with friends.we were told they were slightly behind, fair enough. One lady got her soup after an hour. Others their main courses after another fifteen minutes. I had to wait almost 1hr and 45 min to get a sandwich. I could have cooked a full chicken and baked the bread faster than that? By the time it arrived i had to bolt it down as everyone else had finished eating. We were given free desserts and drinks as an apology. Asked for the bill,paid. Went out and on our way home to get a phone call saying we had left without paying the correct amount. Had to drive back to sort it out. They had given us the wrong bill and two staff said we had underpaid. So not only did we get poor service but then they mixed the bills up and made us feel like criminals for walking out! It was all their fault, we'd only gone in for a meal and chat. The food was good but I really wish I hadn't eaten any of it and had this fiasco to deal with. Bad enough to be waiting almost two hours for a sandwich without being phoned up and having to return to sort out another of their mistakes We were apologised to. However, I can't recommend this place

The restaurant was almost full but the service was quick and efficient. Really enjoyed the food but feel the menu was a bit pricey. Lovely gift shop and clothes department plus highly stocked farm shop. Everything looked really good but on the expensive side which is usual for local produce. Well worth a visit though.

We went on a Monday for lunch and were surprised to see how busy it was. But the lovely staff got us seated. I ordered the 3 cheese sandwich while my wife got the tuna and cucumber, we also got a side portion of sweet potato chips . And needless to say it was lovely and filling too.. All in all the perfect lunch.

Best veggie breakfast in West Lancashire

Four of us had a very pleasant late lunch. Excellent, friendly service and food. Only annoyance was the very noisy coffee making machine(s), that drowned-out our voices.

Always such a lovely experience eating here, had the eggy bread this time, so delicious 😋 I had lunch today, fish and triple cooked chips with tarter sauce and mushy peas, the batter was light and the fish was cooked to perfection, delicious!

Everything thing is perfect.. See you all again very soon...

Got a COD fillet and some COCKLES in vinegar from the FISH van that's perched up (Fleetwood's) outside..

It was very busy when we went, you have to wait to be seated which is fine if the girl who seats you explains how you order. We sat outside she gave us menus then walked off. There are no signs saying order at the counter or waitress service so it would have been nice if she could have stretched herself to explain it to us. I ended up finding a waitress and asking her and was told that it was waitress service but I could order at the counter if I wished which I did. We had coffee's and tea the waitress was lovely, then looked at the menu, in my opinion was overpriced. This is a cafe in a shopping centre but was charging restaurant prices £15.95 for a ceaser salad with chicken £11.00 without, so for a few leaves some parmesan a few croutons and some ceaser dressing that is ridiculous. Other main meals were around the £15 mark In saying that it seemed popular so obviously some people don't mind paying. My sister in law got some cheesy garlic bread which was quite reasonable at £3.95 and she received a large portion with a bit of rocket and drizzle. It has no atmosphere just a large room with tables and it's stuffy and hot.

Busy, could've done with an extra waitress

This was my first time here and really glad we booked as it was so busy, in fact it was that busy that there was a queue for the toilets. The ladies who served were really nice and the food was ok. I had the steak ciabbata and thought it would have come with at least a little side salad but didn't, my partner the paddock burger, both ok. Don't think we'll be rushing back but maybe just our choice of meals as obviously a lot of people like it.

First time visit for a late breakfast, food was very nice prepared to order and will be visiting.again.

Attended a lovely baby shower here at the weekend. The food was lovely, we had afternoon tea for a group of 11, although it was quite expensive and we were surprised to find that afternoon tea didn't actually include tea. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed and a great setting.

Roughly 8th time we've been and everytime waiting over 30 mins for our drinks. Today was worse, but that's due to the fire alarm. The servers are actually friendly and polite, but service overall is rubbish. People get served before you when you've been waiting for longer. Poached eggs just tasted of vinegar nothing else; would have sent them back but already waiting an hour for food. Only go here because it's a 5 minute walk from the house, probably just go white lion instead going forward.

We called in for breakfast, but had to wait 3 or 4 minutes after being noticed immediately by a server and without any acknowledgment. She was not particularly friendly, and only said, ‘table for two’, took us to our table and handed us the menu without saying anything else! At this time it was not very busy probably a dozen customers. Breakfast was okay, served on a warm plate but looked a small portion on a large plate. To be fair, it was filling and tasted good. There was no salt in the in the bottle, so I had to take one from another table. This small issue should not happen when tables are being cleaned and prepared several times a day! I requested the bill and there was no response for more than 5 minutes so I waited by the payment desk and was dealt with immediately. Overall I was not impressed with the service, it may not always be like this, and being my first visit I would expect better if and when I return.
