We came with our daughter and family today, we had Sunday roast. Group of 7. Service was pretty slow. To be honest myself and my husband ordered the Turkey dinner large. We were disappointed with the extra Turkey, there didn’t seem to be a lot for a larger portion. The Yorkshire puddings were so well done they were inedible. We were that busy with the kids during the meal so we didn’t realise till we got home, there were no pigs in blankets on our meal, no stuffing and no cranberry sauce. Only really booked this meal as Turkey was on the menu as opposed to chicken. Disappointed with our experiences. Shame really as if it had of come as described we love Turkey dinner, we would be regular Sunday lunchers. Our granddaughter received her starter just as we’d finished our meal.

Lovely, friendly welcome on our arrival. The room was clean and bed comfy. Came here years ago and had a fab time. Nothing changes still as good as ever in a beautiful village. Keep up the good work. It's so much better than the big chains. Go on, give the red Lion a go you won't be disappointed

Still the best local pub in the area. Backed by a dedicated team who work so hard to put on special events for old and young alike. Great pub menu with daily offers. Honest tasty food.

I highly recommend the Red Lion Hotel Newburgh, we were made welcome from moment we arrived and went into reception which is in the bar. We were invited to join in the local quiz night, however as this would mean downloading an app we declined but stayed in the bar trying to answer the questions. Breakfast is cooked for you after ordering from the menu and served at your table, so is much nicer than those self services options. The one evening meal we had at the hotel was also very good and fair value. The rooms were very clean tide and comfortable. I've no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

6 of us dined including a 4 year old and 8 month old. All meals served together hot and tasty. All plates went back empty including our grandson who devoured his kids meal. Very reasonably priced, lovely food and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

We live very close to the Red Lion, such a wonderful environment there, excellent food and lovely friendly staff too. Holds a lot of memories there as used to frequent with my lovely girls and Mum and Dad many years ago. We visited yesterday for a Sunday roast dinner and was excellent as always.

This little gem is quickly turning into our local since moving to the area. Great on price, great on quality and the staff are very nice and welcoming.

Arrived to large car park, very friendly and welcoming staff and very clean and nice room with nice furniture and crisp white bedding. Rooms are separate to pub so nice and quiet. Breakfasts were fantastic. Ate here both nights and food really good. Couldn't have asked for more and would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stsy

Absolutely love it. Brought my two border collies with us, staff was lovely, especially Jan. Made a fuss over the dogs. The food was lovely but the fact they had a doggy menu!! We will definitely be back. Thank you for making our Sunday extra special!

Eaten here with a friend twice recently and it was very nice. The building itself has lots of character and charm. The staff were friendly (they even upgraded my meal when they found out they had run out of a particular steak, which was very good) and the food on both occasions was very good and more than enough.

Came in the Red Lion on Monday for a late Father's Day meal & we weren't disappointed, all 6 starters & mains were fantastically served & food was delicious especially the rump steak & the sirloin steak which I had. Staff were very polite & welcoming & would definitely recommend the food to anyone. 5 stars all round

The Red Lion is a quaint small hotel/inn with friendly personnel and good food. We are both dinner and breakfast there. The king sized bed was wonderfully comfortable.

Me, my daughter and good friend steph all went for our tea at the red lion. All the meals were really good. However the desert was a little disappointing. We all said we would go back there for a meal again. Next time will probably book a table ad it was quite busy and we ended up sitting at the table just jn front ofvthe bar.

We'd pre-booked, so getting our table was fine. We didn't have to wait too long for our order to arrive. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a regular event on which meant it was a busier than we expected - Sunday Poker Night. We prefer things a little quieter but this is by no means a criticism. The Red Lion is a lovely traditional pub venue and is well worth a visit.

The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The building itself, is very comforting and relaxing. The staff were all pleasant and efficient. The food arrived quickly. The food was delicious and it was very good value for money.

Not much of an atmosphere and decor tired beer is okay

Overall a nice experience with staff and breakfast but the issue we had was with the room. There was a radiator on full blast that we could not turn off. We had to move the mattress onto the floor to move away from it. The fan provided broke in the night so the temperature was unbearable. We had to sleep with the door open which is not ideal considering we had 3 children in the room. One of the worst nights sleep in a hotel that we have ever had. Should be 1 star, staff and food made it 2.

The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to help as one of our party had mobility issues the room on the ground floor was vey suitable and close to the bar. The only downside was the shower over the bath but was breakfast was quick food was very hot and tasted lovely

Just returned from a two night stay.The whole experience was great,really good value food,tremendous breakfast..thank you Chris! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We could not be better looked after by Jen,she was great,making sure everything was above and beyond. Thank you Red Lion,now our go to place on our visits to the northwest.

As a big family we came to the red lion for our sons birthday. The pub was lovely and clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful.. nothing was too much trouble. Our meals were lovely, very tasty, hot and fresh. We would definitely return.

Great countryside pub on the outskirts of Skelmersdale. Friendly.

We live local and this pub is always nice everyone is very friendly and polite the staff are lovely and always smiling. Even on busy days they always serve you the best they can. The food let’s just say after 2years of coming it’s still amazing and the prices on everything are reasonable

Ordered a cowboy burger which when it eventually arrived just warm was served in a rusty tin plate and staff was more interested in a big party of people at the side of us just to add the wife's gammon and chips was cold as well

Booked online for a meal for one. On arrival changed for meal for two no problem. Friendly staff. Table reserved. Good food and cheap too. Turned out to be an open mic evening. Entertained for free till 11pm. Fantastic artists. Stayed in car park as found via BritStop. Thank you John & Janet x

A great find, the pub is lovely and so is the food, staff friendly and good atmosphere.

Ordered Steak Pie which proved to be anything but steak pie finding any meat was a challenge the peas were undercooked and hard, over priced beer ( £4.55 a pint) had meals in this pub in the past although on both occasions in the evening, food then was ok but nothing to write home about, would I return after spending just short of £30 the simple answer is no I would not.

Excellent experience at the Red Lion last Saturday. Sat outside and ordered lunch, the food was delicious and quickly served. Jen, the lovely barmaid even brought some treats out for our puppy which was so kind and made us feel really welcome. Many thanks for a lovely afternoon

The Sunday roast wasn’t up to standard was dry not much veg roast potatoes the mash was instant gravy not much just meat looked like a packet job didn’t eat it all the tea wasn’t tea when I poured it into the cup look cloudy So took it back got a juice instead but the mix grill was spot on my hubby enjoyed it
