This is a two star hotel with a five-star attitude. The rooms are immaculately appointed en-suite doubles traditionally designed to deliver old-fashioned comfort and ambience. Cleanliness and high standards of maintenance are everywhere. The public areas are warm and welcoming beyond what many other hotels ever achieve; this is a real home from home. The restaurant, bar, and lounge combine a subtle balance of intimacy and homely warmth that affords guests their own choice of personal space or friendly interaction with other guests. The restaurant's generous and varied gourmet menu brings you first-class choices from simple farmhouse trad dinning to four course gourmet feasts that will delight you. The wine menu is a superb selection of fine wines for every occasion which the hosts will be delighted to advise you on if you wish. The heart of The Old Malt House is the delightful family who own and run it. They host their home and their business with dedication that is reflected in every aspect of what they do and you expect. If you value the genuine, old fashioned values of service and hospitality from a family run hotel, you have arrived at the right place. In comparison with similar hotels and restaurants in Bath, the Old Malt House offers you superior value for money, service and quality of life than any other establishment. Don't get stuck in town, step 6 miles South of Bath and experience beautiful, ancient rural Wiltshire first hand.

Great hosting by the owners, really felt like home from home. Reccomend the evening meal which was lovely and great company after dinner. Breakfast as advertised 'substantial'.

Such a lovely hotel. I stayed here after a night out with friends. When i first entered, a nice lady took my bags upstairs for me and was ever so helpful with asking what time was convenient for me for breakfast. Beds very comfortable and room felt lovely and cosy. When it came to leaving, i had very bad signal on my phone so i couldn't order a taxi to where i left my car the night before. So the gentleman offered me a lift to my car! Lovely countryside hotel and i will gladly stay again.

Have just returned from a three night stay at the Old Malt House and cannot praise the hotel enough. We were met on arrival by Jen who showed us to our large double room. She gave us all the info about the hotel and went off to bring us a fresh jug of milk for a welcome cuppa in the room. The room was spacious and contained everything you could possibly need and if it didn’t I’m sure that David and Jen would be able to come up with anything you found lacking. They really could not do enough for you and nothing was too much trouble. We had opted to have breakfast and evening meal in the hotel restaurant for the duration of our stay and are we glad we did! The food was excellent. Incidentally, the towels in the bathroom were fabulous! The hotel is situated just outside the centre of Bath and the park and ride at Odd Down was most convenient especially as we could use our bus passes after 09.30 and didn’t have to pay. I could not possibly end the review without mention of the hidden gem of the hotel - namely Jenny, the waitress and font of information. She made our stay really special and is an absolute asset to the hotel.

A lovely hotel with very friendly hosts - they even accommodated my vegan diet I visited on business, and even though it was only a matter of hours notice, they organised what can only be described as a most excellent evening meal (and breakfast). The room was very clean and comfortable and the setting was lovely and peaceful. It is a long time since I enjoyed a short stay so much.

On the face of it fairly basic but the food was superb really good meal with a not huge reasonable selection and therefore all freshly cooked. Few local beers and reasonable wine list everything very well presented.

Stayed at The Old Malt House for 2 nights recently whilst visiting Bath. It did the job,but afew things did niggle us....... Shower - very disappointing, hardly any pressure so a quick in & out was in order. No bedside cabinet on my side,so everything had to go on the floor. The bar was shut Saturday evening - a relaxing drink would've been nice before zzz's after a day out. Breakfast - could've had a wider choice. Good bits...... Service was good. Plenty of parking. Free wifi

We spent a couple nights at the Old Malt House. It is lovely hotel, friendly staff and the restaurant food is exceptional. The hotel is quite remote and to get to Bath takes around 20 minutes in the car and £25 each way in taxi. We enjoyed our stay here, however thought it was slightly pricey when comparing it to other hotels/b&bs we've stayed in. To expand on this- the little things- such as the finish of the bathroom, towels being a good size, warm rooms, soft pillows. Maybe we've been spoilt!! :)

We spent 3 weeks travelling around Britain, staying at many B&B's. This one was special. David and Jen and the girls were so welcoming and friendly, the room was fantastic, and the on-site restaurant was great. We were given excellent information on what to see and do in the area based on our interests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, which we extended due to the wonderful friendliness of the hosts, and the lovely room and setting. It is a little out of Bath, but well worth the extra bit of driving to get there. We definitely would stay there again.

Only stayed here due to a wedding at a near by venue, upon arriving we were greeted by i assume the manager, where people skill were no where to be seen. We were taken up a spiral stair case that is a danger to all attempting to get to your room. and then arrived at our room which was the size of the bed with enough room to skirt around the edge. I have never been in a bathroom so small that you can go to the toilet while brushing your teeth and having a shower all at the same time it was that tight, very unfair value for money £90 I have stayed in 5* hotels for less and to top it off we got locked out as we were unable to work the contraption a so called door lock. In summery Poor quality for money the stairs are a danger and good luck if you can get back in after hours

My mother can't walk well, so it was good to find a hotel within reasonably easy reach of Bristol and Bath which had level access to our rooms and the dining room, and showers you could walk in to, with no step. So many hotels just have baths, which can be hard for older people to step into. There were two rooms like this, and one parking space with the level access, so you need to call and ask for them. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The food was fine. The bar opens before supper, and you can sit outside on the terrace - the view is over field and trees. The only disadvantage was lack of mobile phone reception (O2) in our rooms. On the O2 coverage map, the area without reception is small, just the bottom of the valley, so you would get a signal nearby. I was told that some parts of the hotel are covered, but did not check this myself.

We had a very good experience at The Old Malt House in March 2010. The owners and staff were very welcoming, friendly and courteous. Our friends and ourselves had very clean, tastefully decorated and well appointed en-suite rooms. The lounge/bar had a welcoming fire and a few comfortable seats. The restaurant menu was varied and all the meals we had were well cooked and delicious, and accompanied by a selection of fresh vegetables. The staff and owners were always willing to provide helpful information and directions (usually written) to local places of interest. We would definately stay there again if travelling to the Bath area, and would not hesitate to highly recommend The Old Malt House.
