The Old House in York

Lugar encantador. El personal fue muy amigable y servicial. Preguntamos y nos dieron nuestra mesa seleccionada, que era genial ya que una pareja de nuestro grupo necesitaba espacio adicional. La comida llegó rápidamente y estaba perfectamente preparada. No me puedo quejar de este lugar.

Esta fue nuestra primera vez en su restaurante y Dios mío, ¡volveremos! La comida, el personal y el ambiente eran insuperables. Tu panza de cerdo era hermosa. Lo pasamos muy bien y ya hemos comenzado a recomendarte. nos veremos muy pronto con familiares

Qué lugar tan increíble, nos sentamos arriba, la camarera muy atenta, la comida excelente, la panceta de cerdo era increíble y mi esposo tenía las salchichas y las disfrutó muchísimo.

We had booked a table online a few days before and were seated outside, I would have preferred inside as it was a bit chilly wasn't the warmest evening and when booking we weren't told of this! There was a heater on one side of the garden but not the other so one set of diners were very warm and the other side were cold! Lovely food and staff very good and lovely, they could have done with another member of staff outside as she was running round like a headless chicken and a few tables had to remind staff of forgotten drinks! There was a couple near us both smoking even though no smoking signs everywhere outside, staff seemed oblivious to this. Nice food would definitely go back but would want to sit inside next time rather than freezing outside!

¡Tuve una gran noche en The Old House! El personal fue muy servicial, ¡Ben me cuidó muy bien! ¡La comida era absolutamente deliciosa, la hamburguesa estaba muy jugosa y la crema era increíble! Los recomiendo encarecidamente a cualquiera que visite York, ¡fue una velada maravillosa!

We had dinner here with some friends last week. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was very good which was most impressive because the restaurant was very busy. We are living in difficult times but this restaurant made the whole experience a really great one - thank you very much indeed!

I feel that some reviews on here are a little unfair. To say it was the worst experience of your life is a little overdramatic. I had the focaccia and humous to start, it wasn’t great if I’m honest, but my in-laws had the ham hock and the haddock scotch egg and they said both were delicious. For mains we had 2 pulled pork, 1 steak pie and 1 Wagyu steak, all were really good. I had the steak, it tasted great, was well cooked and the chimichuri was a very good accompaniment. For dessert we had Creme Brûlée and sticky toffee pudding. Again both were very good. The staff were fine, they just looked busy, but they were attentive and I would say service was good. I really looked forward to eating here and I wasn’t disappointed. I would definitely eat here again.

Got take away, burger nice a little cold , chip nice and chicken wing nice but the coleslaw was shocking! Should have cashew nut and pomegranate, got a small pot with two mouthfuls cabbage was brown, all I could see or taste was cabbage carrots and! Think that was it SHOCKING could buy 3 pots for a supermarket cheaper, dont eat it!

Absolutely loved this restaurant. The food and drink were excellent. Best York restaurant I have been in. Lovely choice.

Came on Saturday night for a meal with my boyfriend. We got the salmon and pork belly with a side salad, fries and mac and cheese bites and the food was gorgeous. Everything was perfectly cooked and reasonably priced. Drinks are slightly expensive but I think that’s what you tend to find in the city centre. The staff are lovely and even changed a gin free of charge for me when I picked one that I didn’t like. Would 100% return.

What a shame, we were really looking forward to a nice meal but unfortunately an hour after our starter we were still waiting for the main course but others who arrived after us were getting fed. Their food looked really good so we will put this down to technical issues. The Manager needs some lessons in customer service and shouldn't storm off after confronting us. The waiter tried his best and apologised, just a learning curve I think so probably worth giving it a go if you are in the area.

My wife and I visited this place for a coffee after a walk around York. We enjoyed our break so booked to come back in the evening for an evening meal. We arrived an hour early and they were very accommodating. I had the excellent fish and chips and my wife had a chicken dish. We were both impressed with our meals. Service was excellent and they couldn't' do enough for you. Full visors and everything done possible to make you feel safe. Only slight negative was that I thought the steak prices were a little high, I wasn't planning on having one so didn't make a difference to us Overall well worth a visit - a lovely spot

Don’t visit here! Worst experience ever. My husband and I went in there excited as This is a new restaurant in our area and we’re eager to try it until lockdown came around so as soon as we heard it opened back up again we booked a table straight away! Safe to say it was the worst mistake of our lives. We stood at the door for half an hour before even being acknowledged (probably because it was extremely understaffed) and when we finally got greeted, the waitress couldn’t even find our reservation. I instantly felt bad for the staff as it was clear to see that they were constantly being rushed around and overworked.. I just hope they get paid at least £10 an hour for how tired out they must be. We got seated and handed a menu. 40 minutes later we finally had our order taken and 1 hour later it arrived ! Not even worth the wait! I ordered the steak and it was practically raw and tasteless. Discusting. To be honest I can’t believe we even paid! We didn’t even bother getting a dessert so we went somewhere else for pudding. Definitely wouldn’t advise !

Gorgeous restaurant in the heart of york, amazing food, clean , social distancing by the book. The food was gorgeous. Manager Alex, the best, he couldn't do enough, a fantastic evening

Visited whilst staying in York with my family. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere and staff extremely friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again next time I am in York!
