Big thanks to Maria and her team for a fantastic breakfast yesterday booked for 28 all came on time and cooked to perfection. Great choice of beers our go to pub for annual trip to the races. See you next year!

The welcome here was really special - the guy who took our order at the bar and Maria - who we chatted with about all sorts of things - lovely. And the food was great too.

I had such an amazing time at the Fox & Roman. We had some fantastic food which was cooked to perfection and unreal customer service from all the team but especially from Maria. Hopefully see you soon in Harrogate for a new watch.

Lovely environment and a nice local pub with a very pleasant beer garden. Maria was lovely and was quick with serving drinks and it was all nicely priced and affordable!! Would recommend, definitely coming back.

Informal get together following daughters wedding the previous day and the pub could not have been more accommodating and helpful .Great area in the pub allocated for our exclusive use and relaxed for those who wanted to eat and those who didn’t . Nothing was a problem. Staff were very friendly during our visit for Saturday afternoon Our thanks to Maria and Chris and their team for making this possible and topping off our special occasion and would not hesitate coming again and would recommend the venue . Best Sunday Roast I've ever had! Just Fantastic!

We came for a family lunch whilst on a short break in the area. George and her team were all friendly and tremendously helpful with recommendations etc and all four of us enjoyed our meals. Lovely selection of drinks including soft drinks and a nice variety on the food menu, the mini pudding and hot drink combo is a great idea. All in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere

Foods ok. Asked for belly pork but it came with no apple sauce? Just a slice of apple? £20 is a steep price but the rest of the dinner was nice. BUT..the price of drinks in there is outrageous!! A very small tap coke, half of bitter and large glass of wine nearly £15! Had half of Estrella when we arrived and it was awful. Flat and horrible. Hence, definitely won't be going again.

Staying at the holiday inn across the road and came for Sunday tea. The service was amazing and the food was wonderful. Would definitely return

En primer lugar debo decir que todo el personal era excelente muy amable y eficiente, sin embargo, la elección del menú era muy pobre, tuvimos una reserva del sábado por la noche para 2 personas, no había platos de pollo en absoluto agotado? ¿Ningún bourguignon de carne, se acabó? Seguramente el stock de comida debería cubrir el fin de semana que supongo es el momento más ocupado? Elegí el pastel que era muy agradable, pero la verdura era tibia, mi marido tenía lubina que estaba satisfecho con su elección. Nos gusta mucho este pub y visitar cada vez que visitamos York. Es un buen ambiente buenas bebidas y como dije antes gran personal. Espero que esta revisión ayude a corregir el problema del menú.

The shared platter was delicious and just right for one person on their own. Staff are fantastic, friendly and really helpful as one of our party are gluten intolerant and they were very thorough with helping select a meal. Puddings and coffee are first class too.

Been coming to the fox & Roman for years and always has that amazing homely feeling you'd expect from a traditional Pub. Great choice of beers on tap and Ned was great and super accommodating when i'd messed up my table booking.

Took my mum and son out for Sunday lunch as a treat. Abi was a credit to your company, worked really hard to make sure all customers had what they needed. Great customer service with a happy demeour and very helpful to all our needs. The food was delicious however I would say the portions could be reduced which would reduce costs. The pavlova was amazing but absolutely huge, thank goodness we had planned to share it between 2, it could easily be shared amongst 4 people! Apareció para un pescado con patatas fritas a la vuelta, comida sabrosa muy caliente, servido rápidamente en un exuberante pub. Conocí a unos 5 miembros del equipo y cada uno de ellos estaba lleno de personalidad y amabilidad - gran reclutamiento!

My wife and I have just had the most wonderful meal. The service was great. We've been staying across the road for three nights. I wish we had come here before. The best meal we have had in York.

Primera vez en este pub , presentación marcas completas , ambiente marcas completas , servicio - niña pequeña con gafas y cabello oscuro - excepcional , almuerzo del domingo - críticas mixtas . Tres de nosotros elegimos el almuerzo de domingo de tres carnes más grande - la presentación inicial y el tiempo que tomó en venir fueron buenos. El cerdo y el crepitar y el pudín Yorkshire muy agradable, pero un pequeño trozo de pavo y carne de res - necesitaba más. Desafortunadamente el resto del plato era una mezcla de brócoli demasiado cocido, poco cocido o crudo. Y un pedido de queso de coliflor a £ 4. 50 era un buen tamaño pero no lo suficientemente caliente. ¿Volvería - sí , el menú del día de semana se ve bien y relación calidad-precio . ¿Volvería a pagar 22 libras por cabeza para el almuerzo del domingo?

El servicio fue extremadamente lento, esperando más de una hora y 20 minutos para nuestra red. Cuando preguntamos cuánto tiempo estuvimos esperando nos dijeron que eran 30 minutos entre cada curso! Decidimos no tomar un pudín ya que otros 30 minutos de espera estaban más allá de nosotros

What a great place The Fox & Roman …from entering to leaving the staff where so helpful and friendly , we had a veggie breakfast it was lovely … we sat by the fire it’s a great cozy place … when we’re in the area again we’ll definitely be going back such a shame we didn’t take photos

Came in for lunch with the family, Abigail was amazing, from the minute we walked in to when we left. Nothing was too much for her and she really made our visit enjoyable. Will be back and thank you Abigail

What a lovely restaurant! All the staff were very friendly and efficient, the service was fantastic, the food and drinks were delicious, and the interior is so lovely, cosy warm and incredibly well kept and clean. It is only slightly more expensive than other pubs/restaurants in the area, and for us this was definitely worth it. We will be back the next time we’re in York and recommending to others who visit!

after looking at the menu online, i chose this pub for a meal. because it was more on the expensive side, i was expecting really high quality food but was unfortunately quite disappointed, especially for the price! we had the signature burger and the chicken burger. the meat in the chicken burger was such poor quality, tasted very highly processed and like it had just come out of the freezer (which i suspect it had done). we were also waiting for more than 40 minutes for our food after ordering, and the pub was not very busy. we did however really enjoy the chips, the waiter was lovely, there was sufficient parking, and the pub had a very nice interior.

We were served by mainly Ella who provided excellent 5* service and was very friendly and personable. We were also served by Jakub, Sophie, Beth, Abi and Sally who also provided a great service and were very friendly.

We came for Sunday lunch as somewhere different to the chain carvery at the other side of the city but we definitely made the wrong choice. As it is considerably more expensive, I expected the meal to be superior. The meat was (on the most part) dry, parsnips I couldn’t cut through and the crackling was so hard I might as well have had a plastic ruler on the plate. Minimum amounts of gravy as well. Yorkshire pudding was tasty and there was plenty of green veg. Won’t return again for Sunday lunch.

Roasts were nice. Skewers and very expensive £30 steak dreadful. 5 very over cooked, dry and crap prawns on the skewer. Steak full of gristle and had to be chewed for ages… my Dad spat a huge mouthful out and left it in the end after 3 mouthfuls as it was really poor meat.

Visited here today, enjoyed the fish and chips, brownie dessert and a coffee, with a friend who had similar. We both enjoyed our food and the general vibe of the place. But the real highlight was the service. Jacob/yacob? Was an absolute delight and a credit to the pub, very attentive & personable, with being very professional at the same time. We visited a place before, and we left due to the lack of service after being left standing around to be seated, which I’m now glad about. Keep up the good work.
