We visited the Old Forge this morning for the first time and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted by Lola the dog who made our own little dog very welcome. The outside seating area was extremely pleasant and well kept with a charming brook and weeping willow setting the scene. Our breakfast of bacon and egg sandwiches served on toasted granary bread was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Our hosts were lovely and offered advice on some dog walking routes in the area which we went on to enjoy. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you very much, Jayne, Dean and Rexi x

This delightful thatched roof cottage conceals a cheap greasy spoon cafe. For some reason, they call it a tea room, despite the tea selection being limited to a few boxes of flavoured tea bags. The man here was very rude and passive-aggressing, and told us off for doing something that his partner expressly allowed. He needs to work on his people skills and get on the same page as his partner. I feel sorry for her. A highchair is available but the strap is broken so it's a bit risky to use.

Yesterday we popped in to see DAVE at the Forge Tearooms in Muston and it was just lovely What sets it apart from other places is its uniqueness and lovely atmosphere You can relax by a little stream look up at a 300 year old former thatched Smithy and think wow I'm lucky to be here in this special place Cakes are delicious and nothing is too much trouble and Dave pops out and smiles and you can relax and enjoy the lovely surroundings Lola the adorable cocker pointer is the cutest most playful dog you could meet and she is so well behaved she doesn't intrude but adds to the uniqueness of the surroundings For roughly 5 pounds ahead for the cake and hot drink of your choice you'll have a lovely time Enjoy!!

These tea rooms now move into Winter Opening times so only open Saturdays and Sundays. Shame but owner has to do what is best. These tea rooms are exquisite. Well kept set in the heart of The Vale of Belvoir. Quaint with its thatched roof and you can sit in the garden if you wish. The river Devon runs along the bottom of the garden. Menu is extensive, toasted tea cakes, home made cakes, the steak pie chips and peas are to die for as are the good selection of toasties, sandwiches, and home made soup. Prices are reasonable. A must if you are on the area.

Currently open weekends only, have several outdoor tables in a lovely village setting. Lola the Cocker-setter acted as our greeter and was very well behaved and a hit with all the regulars. We had hot drinks plus bacon and egg, sausgae and egg baps. Faultless food and drink, we particularly enjoyed the sausgae and egg served on slightly toasted onion bread as they were running short of white baps, late in the morning Friendly hosts, good service good quality and value for money We will return!

We popped in about half an hour before closing time and had the nicest pot of tea with delicious scone and a piece of very fruity fruit cake. Lovely location in the centre of the village over looking, what was today, a very fast flowing River Devon. We were made to feel very welcome, the café was dog friendly and our dog was very happy sitting by us hoping for cake.....

Walked out... it is officially the first time I have ever left a cafe/restaurant before eating and I was really hungry! The man working there was so rude to us. Spoke to us in a manner not expected in any walk of life let alone paying customers. We gave our order and was met with a gruff “it will be half an hour - we just got a big order” I looked around at only 2 other tables. A couple eating a cake and one other table of 5 who were served not long after we arrived. It got chilly outside so we went inside. Walked to the back as the smell of frying was very strong and a little smokey. He shouted “sit in here” we left... It explained why such a lovely looking building in such a lovely spot was almost empty. He is clearly not happy in his role. Avoid.

Lovely picturesque setting with a beautiful river at the bottom of the property along with a gorgeous willow tree to look at while you are sipping your cuppa. As well as our tea, we had a toasted sandwich and cake. The toastie was lovely, so was the cake although it would have been nice to see available cakes on display to be able to more easily choose. Heads up that it’s ‘cash only’.

Lovely little tea room in a beautiful location. Bacon sandwich was delicious and chips were proper home made chips (not cooked from frozen). Good park two minutes walk away which is handy for young children. Will definitely be coming back

Look at all the recent views here...all echo my experience today...rude, unfriendly, poor service and so on. The guy cooking/serving clearly didn't want to be there. Shame because it is a lovely setting...

Arrived as a group of 7 cyclists and will not be returning.Poor service to the point of being rude. They refused to refill our water bottles for us, unlike any other cafe we have ever visited. One toastie arrived just as we were ready to leave so we did not pay for it. One of our party heard the owner (?) pass it off as part of an order for another table even though it was the wrong filling combination. There was also an out of control puppy eating anything it could from the outdoor tables - knapkins, plastic etc - despite signs requesting dogs to be on a lead!

Never been before and won’t be going again. Shame because setting is beautiful but service and set up is awful. Sat outside and decided to go have look inside to see if any cakes on display.(No was answer) On entering was promptly snapped at we come to you. Tables and chairs needed updating all are very worn and rickety. Very cute little dog running about but told it can bite under some circumstances. This could be a little gold mine in the right hands.

Sadly this is not cycle friendly and we were told so in no uncertain terms. How rude! the beautiful dog bit me but the owners didn’t see this as a problem even though I was trying to stop it from choking on a serviette. Apparently they just wait until it comes out the other end ... not a responsible answer. Very poor and will not be visiting again and would certainly not recommend. Service very slow.

Lovely atmosphere which suits the charm if this converted cottage. Now in it's summer opening hours Wednesday to Sunday, 10.30am to 5pm. It is well worth a visit. On a sunny day the outdoor seating adds to the charm with The River Devon running through this charming garden. Always assured of a warm welcome. Children are welcome. But don't try and take a pushchair or pram in not enough room. Similarly with wheelchair not big enough to accommodate. Could do with a ramped access somewhere. Food is amazing. Good selection from toasties, bacon rolls, fish and chips, pork scnitzel to steak pie, scampi and chips and ham egg and chips as well as your usual sandwiches and salads. Cakes are excellent too our favourite is the carrot cake. Very partial to bacon rolls. Soup is tasty too. Could benefit from the addition of afternoon tea. Excellent value, always busy. Staff are friendly can't do enough for your. Dog friendly too and is very near to local walks and the grantham canal route. Don't get caught out though Cash only.

A gem of a location within earshot of the local church and easy access to splendid country and canal side walks. A friendly welcome, excellent service, pleasant ambience with the option of sitting outside if weather is suitable all make this an ideal venue for tea, coffee, cakes and other snacks according to the mood and occasion. Very good quality home made produce at very reasonable prices put this tea rooms at the top of my list of places to revisit. Terrific with a capital “Tea for two!” Highly recommended

We were fortunate to have really nice weather, to sit outside with the little stream running past, there is plenty of room inside if the weather was not so great. Service was very prompt, tea and cake delicious, wouldn't want to find anywhere more pleasant for a small meal. Perhaps the only down point is that there is not a lot of parking nearby, but we parked on the road and it didn't cause any obstruction..

This is a lovely tearoom, with scrumptious toasties! Some people think the humble toastie is easy to slap together and so you end up with a lunch you don't remember eating, this tearoom, however, knows how to make a toastie! Thank you for your friendly welcome and delicious lunch, we'll come again!

We came across this place whilst out on a family bike ride, there were plenty of free tables, inside and outside, despite a group of about 15 cyclists having just arrived before us. My wife went in to view the specials board and find out whether they took cards as well as cash and was very rudely told can't you wait, it'll be 25 minutes because a load of cyclists have turned up without warning. I noticed a comment in a previous review that manners cost nothing and couldn't agree more. We left and decided to go and spend our money elsewhere. I don't want people to kowtow when I arrive somewhere and serve me ahead of people who were there first (well actually I do want that, but I don't actually expect it); a simple 'I'm sorry, there's a bit of a wait' would have meant we'd have stayed and spent our money there rather than up the road instead.

Just a 5 minute walk from the Grantham Canal, and 10 minutes from the beautiful Belvoir Castle, these tea rooms are a must. This is a family run business, it doesn't serve fast food, it serves good wholesome home cooked food. At the moment during the summer it is open Wednesday to Sunday. 10.00am -4pm. We chose Steak and Kiddney Pie and Lasagne, (could have dobe with a side salad with it), everything was sourced from the local butcher in Bottesford, and Fish and chips ( sadly no mushy peas, or the option of gravy with your chips), all delicious followed by home made chocolate cake and fruit cake ( would be nice with a piece of cheese with it), it was excellent value. The owners are delightful, very welcoming and very polite. Beautiful garden where you can sit outside by the River Devon which is great if you have children ir the dog with you. Not easy for children inside though due to it being a lovely old listed renovated cottage conversion with its lovely oak beams and a beautiful sun room built by the owner. Overall a wonderful experience. Never come away feeling disapointed. The only thing is the coffees/teas are small but are the same price as a large coffee/tea anywhere else, would be nice to have the ootion if small ir large. Soft drinks include the Famous Elder flower, Elder flower and ginger from the famous local Belvoir Fruit Farms.

We had never been to this place before so was not sure about the system for ordering. We wanted to sit outside but thought we would go inside to check how to order. As we stood near the counter a lady quite rudley said "you will have to find a table but you will have to wait, there are other people waiting". We didn't expect to jump the queue but equally we did not want to sit outside and expect someone to come out to serve us if they didn't know we were there. Decided not to wait. Manners cost nothing !!

We were recommended to try out this very lovely garden tearoom and as the weather was pleasant we sat in the garden by the brook. It was quite busy with a few cyclists dropping in for some refreshment during the Sunday bike ride.Other couples were sitting outside enjoying a light lunch in the sunshine with some walkers. Other visitors chose to sit inside the thatched cafe/cottage. The cakes are homemade, very delicious.

Love going to this place, found by accident; it is a home turned in to a Tea Room, with a beautiful thatched roof, lovely gardens to sit in with a stream running through. The cakes are delicious and all made on the premises by the owner who has done extensive work on the building but keeping it in tradition. This place is open Wednesday to Sunday, bank holidays as well and until 5pm ! For simple home-cooked plain food, sandwiches, cakes and a great cup of tea this is the place to go.

We were taking a walk down the Grantham Canal 23.7.2016 on our 22nd Wedding Anniversary and decided to have a cuppa and something to eat as it was lunch time. The Old Forge Tea Rooms is a place we have wanted to visit for a while as we are often in the area. It is a really pretty place with plenty of outside seating and there is a stream that runs along the bottom of the garden. If you don't fancy sitting outside like us as we need to get out of the sun for a while there is plenty of seating inside too. The Tea rooms are only open from Wednesday to Sunday and you can only pay with cash no facilities for Credit/Debit Cards. There is a good selection to choose from on the menu and there is a specials board also, we decided to have Turkey Salad Sandwiches, Pot of Tea for One and an Americano with 2 slices of Coffee and Walnut Cake as we decided to spoil ourselves. The food is made fresh on the premises and with quality produce, we really enjoyed the food the cake was really nice, we will be going back for more. Highly Recommend this place.

We were actually here for a Wake. I have been here several times and found it to be a very friendly little pub. The staff had put together a reasonably versatile buffet for the Wake, too much white bread, but that's personal choice. The lemon drizzle cake was outstanding. I was pleased that the barmaid suggested that the surplus food should be taken to the bar to be shared rather than wasted.

The place looks good and it nice inside with entertainment but the food is not good at all we had two chicken wraps and baguette melts that were not melted or warm they were cold and also we had a even bigger breakfast with hashbrowns, sausage and bacon is cooked enough and my personal self had a mixed gril the gammon was bland with no taste and the chicken was stone cold and steak wasn't too bad but disappointed is a understatement and the service was poor we tried to get servers attention twice and was blanked and it just felt depressing it wasn't nice so this why I give this a 2 star this is a genuine review it isn't good for food.

Rustic historic pub in the centre of Melton Mowbray, drinks priced reasonably and a lovely beer garden for when the weather is nice. Staff are friendly too, great atmosphere in the winter (very cosy and homely). Highly recommend if you're visiting Melton Mowbray and want to enjoy a nice drink in a traditional pub
