Would like to say a massive thank you for to staff at the old colonial so polite and very accommodating also a thank you to the head chef he went out his way to sorted some food out for the kids will defo be back again

Almost made it to 2 stars but the unpleasant service from the lady doesn't deserve it. The curry was terrible absolutely freezing and even when complaining the same lady did nothing. Why should I pay for ping food!! Good luck getting a penny from me or my friends ever again. Wish I had checked reviews before visiting, speaks for itself.

What a dirty place toilets are buzzing it burns your nose the smell of pee it's like they don't clean them. The tables are not clean they need to close it down and deep clean it

The people and menu are good, but the building is WELL overdue for a referb. The staff and locals - never mind holidaymakers - deserve better...

Ordered a mixed grill. Gammon wasn't cooked, steak was meant to be medium rare, it was that under cooked David Attenborough was waiting to film a documentary on it. Waitress advised she would tell the kitchen. Came back to inform she'd told the kitchen.....that was it. Nothing done about it. No refund on it. Obismal!! The cheesy garlic bread was the end of a French stick. Absolutely shocking. No wonder it was dead. Won't be returning here again.

Absolutely rubbish. No arcade fruitys on. No pool table. Toilets are a disgrace. Windows look like the leak. Absolutely terrible place. Not like it use to be.

Terrible food and terrible service, been here a hour - no one has cleaned plates around the tables - all staff just standing around. food all arrived late I had finished eating before my nans had even got here. Tables and chairs so dirty. £9.29 for smallest fish and chips. Won’t be back Defiantly won’t be eating here again.

We booked for 530pm for 6 of us for food thinking it would just be a meal setting we walk in and it's massively overcrowded people standing everywhere they had some sort of "band" playing and it was in the same area as you eat food and it was so loud you couldn't even talk yet alone have a family meal , the service wasn't great the bar staff were abrupt we thought booking at a restaurant there would be a separate part for live music we walked straight back out and went elsewhere

This is one of a few Marstons in Weston-super-Mare area but the place is looking very unkempt! This is really unfortunate as being on the seafront is a perfect position and always used to be a nice place to go!

The food was freshly prepared, and very tasty. There is a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are always around and work exceptionally hard to keep customers happy.

Quieter than the pubs beside them but popped in for a drink anyway was very expensive for a Guinness and J20 and didn't eat as other reviews said not to

I highly recommend this fantastic pub in Weston to all my friends! It's got loads of space inside and offers a beautiful view of the sea. Plus, the customer service is top-notch!

My lasagne was freezing almost frozen. Staff didn't seem to care. Not returning.

On our arrival the guy on reception was extremely polite and helpful, he looked after us as a family. We entered the room it was bright, clean, welcoming and looked fresh with a Lovely sea view We will definitely go there again on our next trip.

Was visiting friends in the area who recommended we eat here, we had the lunch club offer which was fantastic and the gammon was just the right size for me. My husband finished the delicious chocolate fudge cake. We were served by a very friendly lady who I believed may have been the manager. Overall we had a lovely time I would note that they could use a refurb especially on the toilets however they were clean.

Toilets are filthy and not very nice. Bar lady smelt of cigarettes which put me off my lasagne. Won't come back.

I came here recently for a drink and a bite to eat and had a great time, good service and give praise to the Chef Ethan for a great steak meal.

Music was too loud and a lot of swearing in the kitchen won't be going back ever again and i mean ever and the food was disgusting it felt like i got food poising and i swear i think i saw bugs

Great service and definitely a pub id recommend my friends and family too, "Ethan" I think the name of the chef was, his food was brilliant and even exchanged some very kind and sincere words across the table.

Overpriced and the server running it reeked like cigarettes and was extremely rude to us while serving.

I was with my mum and begged by a guy called Ethan to mention him in a 5 star review as he got a bonus for it, I'm sitting in spoons just wanting to enjoy my drink leave me alone

Awesome steak, perfectly cooked. New young chef Ethan done a great job.

Staff sat out front smoking in joggers looking rather rough around the edges, we didn’t bother going in. Having seen that as it put us all off. It’s not really much a professional look to see outside the business but there we go. Like to maybe try again another assuming some experienced cleaner management takes over. Really used to like coming in here but there we go.

Had an amazing mixed grill cooked by the chef shaun proper man food well satisfied huge portion decent price defo return for that nd manager nicky very welcoming good good visit.

Had the best fish and chips ever today , I sent compliments to the chefs Ethan and Sean, cooked to perfection and presented well. We will be back especially if we know Sean and Ethan are cooking !!!

Came in Saturday and all bar staff swearing and drinking alcohol while working. Not family friendly if you ask me.

Popped in for a pint with the dog. Proper dog friendly, treats on the bar top, came over with a bowl of water for the dog too, little things like this make your experience all the better.

It was my Aunties 90th birthday meal ,the staff were absolutely brilliant in all they done make it a good experience for her, will defiantly be eating there again , loved it.

We did not have food so cannot comment, they were very accommodating for us and dog friendly. Even getting our dog a treat. We had teas and a latte which was lovely. Excellent service. Will come again.

We really enjoyed our food except our grandaughter (8) who decided she wanted to try the Korma but said it was nothing like Mum's - in fact it was very nice indeed, certainly not too spicy. It was fairly busy so didn't expect fast service and in fact we had our meals within about half an hour which we thought was acceptable but the plates were cold, not even slightly warm. We had sat outside as it was nice and sunny but the food on the cold plates with a chilly wind cooled down quickly. We do realise maybe we should have sat inside but the plates were still cold. The staff were polite and friendly but next time (and there will be a next time) we will probably sit inside to eat unless it's very warm.

Love it here. Its a great place to eat and the staff are absolutely lovely. I would definitely recommend them

Absolutely amazing hotel!! I live locally and come here almost every day. Before learning to cook, I actually ate here everyday and their food is really good. It’s such a nice, chilled, relaxing bar, allows dogs, even gives them water and treats!! The staff are second to none, always so helpful and friendly, really make you feel your custom is appreciated. I cannot recommend The Old Colonial enough.

Was told on arriving what they did not have in stock for food, on ordering a simple jacket with prawns, told not in stock , needless to say we left and will not be returning, no wonder the place was empty,

Brought my parents and my children and grandchildren in for food there was 14 of us in total and cant fault anything food was fantastic thank you james and sam. And bar staff Amy, richard, ethan and mike was brillant 5 stars all the way thank you all will be back

Really clean place, extremely friendly and just lovely staff members. The food was out of this world, being a vegetarian it’s often difficult to find someone good to eat but this was a 10 out of 10 for me. I will definitely return and highly recommend.

Had veggie breakfast states continental included but no sign or offer of juice, fresh fruit or crossiants in sight. Had to send coffee back as tasted of nothing. Replaced with cappuccino but still very weak. Breakfast not value for money at £8.75 just for what we recieved.

We had dinner here and breakfast the next morning when we stayed in Weston supermare and we loved it. The place itself had fantastic bones and it was just a great experience, highly recommended.

We stayed at the Old Colonial for two nights. The accommodation was comfortable, very clean, and fantastic views from the bedroom window as well. We were in Room 3, which was a family room with sea views. It also makes a change to find somewhere that has baths as well as showers. So absolutely ideal for me as I have to have a bath due to spinal and hip problems. Having a soak in the bath you can't beat. The water was also very hot and plenty of it. We can't thank Lee, the manager, enough. He really looked after us and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a late check-in, and nothing was too much trouble. The staff in the pub were very friendly and helpful. We got served quickly, and the food came out to us super fast. We had the mac n cheese special as well as the sausage and mash special. Both portions were of a good size, so you definitely won't leave hungry. As for the breakfasts. They are very good quality and we left stuffed. We even took our breakfast sandwich with us as we had no room left and couldn't fit them into our stomach's. Thankfully, Lee and the chef were happy to wrap them for us so that we could eat them on our way home. There was also a good selection of real ale. So hubby was well chuffed. I don't drink. However, I was so pleased that they served full sugar Pepsi. So many places now only serve diet or drinks full of sweeteners. Unfortunately, I can't drink those drinks as I have an allergy to them. So, all in all, we had a wonderful stay and will definitely be coming back and hopefully be able to have the same room we were in this time. Also makes a change to be able to get free parking at a hotel at the seaside. Once again, thank you so much, Lee, for going above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. A nice place for a meal or a drink opposite the sea front

We had a lovely stay at the Old Colonial, they put us up last minute in return for a voucher. They were friendly, welcoming and accommodating throughout. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a sea view, and we had a decent breakfast.

Loved this place. We turned up when they had music playing which was fantastic. The food was lovely and the lady behind the bar was really friendly and super helpful. Thank you. ♥️

There was a rock band on here on the Saturday night...was great night an atmosphere was lovely too,food was great I would like to thank the staff here for a great night..🥳 even my uncle an Auntie and my cousins from Chester loved the night too.. ☺️ the place was welcoming and very clean and tidy too..I think you guys would like it here too, children are welcome here too.

Had a lovely lunch at the Old Colonial. The food was quick and hot and lots of choice on the menu. We were looked after by Lee who was helpful and friendly. Don’t let the outside of the pub put you off. We had a lovely time, we will be back 👍

Revisited today, looking extremely festive and christmassy. Still could with a refurb and paint job though,

After waiting two weeks for a response to the problems we had I feel I now have to write this review. Having arrived at the hotel the check in was fine although the person checking us in seemed a little frazzled but he was quite clearly understaffed so I can ignore that. We had a family room and it left a lot to be desired. Peeling wallpaper water marks mild in the bathroom and doors falling off. As it was only for one night we let that go although on reflection we probably should have said something. The problems really started at around 11pm when the couple upstairs got to their room so began the screaming the shouting the moving and throwing of furniture. Now I know the hotel can’t know this is going to happen but it went on for nearly 5hrs. We attempted to contact reception nobody there then we realised we needed to ring the out of hours no which we did repeatedly and nobody answered. They eventually shut up and we all went to sleep only to be woken again around 6. So after a night of very little sleep we went down for breakfast. We spoke to the person on duty who went and did some investigating and he came back and told us that the out of hours phone had been switched off all night and that’s why we couldn’t get through. He then proceeded to say that once a guest had checked into their room they can and I quote pretty much do what they liked. He also said that as the phone had been switched off he would have to escalate the complaint and we should receive a response within 48 hrs and if we didn’t to ring the hotel he did however as a gesture of good will refund the breakfast. We didn’t receive a response we rung the hotel who then told us it could take up to two weeks. We waited two weeks we had no response we rung the hotel again to be told sorry nothings been done yet. It’s unfortunate because the hotels in a great position with lovely sea views and it could be spectacular but we just feel like we wasted our money and it wasn’t the lovely start to our holiday we’d anticipated. Should we ever receive an outcome to our complaint I will update this review.

Visited with my daughters, had an amazing stay, burgers were very tasty thoroughly washed down with Thatchers Haze.

Had a lovely weekend here. The rooms were clean and huge! Staff were pleasant and the food was great. 5 minute stroll to town centre was a bonus.

Sunday lunch, good value, comfortable and local.

This place was one of my favourite places to have a beer on the seafront as it has a nice outdoor space and a lovely view of the beach ⛱. It is also a good place to just chill out and people watch if you are alone too. It has a pool table for entertainment and a TV which shows the news. They do have themed nights but I have never been to any of these. UPDATE - I will leave the below "old review" in, just in case they slip back into old ways, but I can safely say the food is a lot better now! Way better in fact!! As pub food goes it is great. The staff are fantastic too. When they have forgotten something or do not have a thing we request (which is rare), they make every effort to redeem themselves by offering something else (even a free drink at times when things have not gone to plan). Sometimes the clientele can be a little on the worse for wear side, but that is rare too (in the day time as we only visit in the day). We go here quite often now and enjoy ourselves when we do. Definitely worth a try!! **BELOW PART OF OLD REVIEW** The reason I am giving it 3 stars 🌟 is because I have had 2 bad experiences with the food there and also they used to have an offer of 2 beers for £5 which they stopped doing. Most of the time i have eaten here it has been okay but one time we had the pigs 🐖 in blankets which were cooked but I prefer a bit crispy (so that is on personal preference) but the second bad experience was an undercooked piece of fish 🐟. The lady did offer me a free drink in its place but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth (excuse the pun). Its not a bad place but don't expect outstanding service or food. Its okay 👌

Staff friendly and welcoming. Food ( Sunday lunch) very nice . However the lounge area and eating area is still Riffy and could do with new carpets and a coat of paint on the walls. The toilets are a Disgrace and the smell was overwhelming. Also playing Heavy metal rock music isn't really what I like to listen to whilst eating my Sunday afternoon lunch .
