The food was OK. Had a small area for children to play. Staff were nice

Visited with family. Waited 1hr 20 for food to arrive. It was mediocre at best! Luke warm, over cooked vegetables, burnt chips, Yorkshire pudding was inedible. Pub is also very run down and could do with a refurbishment. Will not be returning!!

Unfortunately won't return since Nigel got Amy fired and threatened all the other workers to leave or they'll be bullied out. Amy was great, Nigel is not..

First time at this hotel, now under new management. Food was great and so was the hotel room. They are spending some money on it so this will be a cracking place in the near future. Great views of the beach and plenty of parking. Will definitely be coming back.

Called in on our way back home to see what changes have been made under new management. Outside still looks terrible, one good thing is the decking has been replaced, and can now be used. Was told by the new manager that there are hopefully going to have a refurb, not before time! We ordered two Sunday lunches, beef and turkey, we wanted half roast chicken, but they didn’t have any. Both meals arrived pretty quickly, considering the pub was reasonably busy. Meals were presented very well nice full plates. Very tasty, could have been better if cauliflower cheese had been included, not extra, but overall two empty plates spoke for themselves! Only downside was the gravy was far too watery! Would definitely recommend the Sunday roast. Will be interesting to see if Marston’s actually do the much needed refurb!! We’ll be back in March, hope to a well presented pub!

Just had one of the best home cooked roasts in a very long time. Good atmosphere and the new owner Nigel is lovely and very welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Not happy with my Sunday roast for the second week running. Had roast beef dinner. When it came to the table mores of it was missing. No mash potatoes stuffing Yorkshire pudding or pigs in blankets. The excuse was we cooked it from Fresh and we are stopping Sunday roast. I really think I should have got told what going on before I paid for it. Iv always loved my dinner hear .

Stayed here for 1 night just to try the place out, all I can say is I'm glad we only booked 1 night, on arrival the building itself is extremely run down walking through the bar area to get to the 'hotel' reception- the bar area was dirty and uncared for, our host was Amy who I assume to be the manager, was very uninterested in our concerns about the parking warden as there are only a few spaces for the hotel guests, the room itself although spacious and with a beautiful view was dirty, smelly and had stains on both the carpert and the sofa bed which hadn't been made up before our arrival, the bathroom was dirty and rusty there was mould around the windows and even the remote was filthy, on going down into the pub itself the toilets were absolutely disgusting and there was a trail of dirt leading into the kitchen, needless to say we decided not to dine there......upon complaining to Richard about our room issues he did at least listen although preceeded to make lots of excuses for why the place was in such a state and reasons why I wouldn't be getting a refund, unfortunately we had driven almost 3 hours to get there with our 6 year old daughter so we had no choice but to stay the night, the bedding was at least clean, I have sent my complaint directly to marstons along with pictures of what we found there, I would definitely not recommend this place and we will definitely not be back, there is no standards of even basic hygiene or customer service here, most definitely the worst place I've ever stayed

Was fab to find a dog friendly pub and had an overall good experience, good food at good prices only negative was the side order onion rings were forgotten about and when delivered were burnt and inedible (luckily my dad liked them that way but I ordered them for myself and not my preference)

So disappointed. I'm astounded by the difference between the Marston run pubs in Weston. Brilliant experience at the Summer house and the landing light. The old colonial is a grumpy atmosphere with staff that want to leave and don't want customers. We went after a performance and I've never been spoken to like that bar man did. So rude (and had the audacity to ring the bell and close the bar early at just gone 10pm because of the zero tolerance policy and yet the only people being rude were the staff). I will never visit again. Felt unbelievably unwelcome.

A tired sticky pub on WsM seafront. The worst Marstons Inn ever

I stayed here in the hotel, and whilst the room was of a fantastic size, and beds comfy, it was quite dusty, and I think they had a pipe problem as the bathroom smelt like a week old portaloo. We tried to bring it to the attention of staff, but despite ringing the reception bell, no one answered. They also provided a cot for my 2 year old, but without a mattress, and expected us to use a doubled up single duvet to lay on, which in the cot would have puffed up around her and suffocated her!

Only came in for drinks however the barman Rich was so funny and very chatty I love talking to him he made us feel so welcome

Always have a nice experience here, the team is great and always friendly. They went out of their way to help me with a last minute change to our booked meal and it made my day. Merry Christmas to the team at Old Colonial!

Both the hotel and the attached bar/restaurant below are tired & in need of some tlc. Carpets in the bar/restaurant were sticky in places due to split drinks and everywhere seemed a bit rundown. Food was reasonable but typical pub chain menu. On a positive note: location is great, there are a limited number of free allocated parking spaces within the main public carpark and the manager was great - always friendly & happy to help.

The service was excellent could not fault the serving staff but unfortunately the food was abysmal! We had the Sunday roast beef, the beef was just shop brought thin sliced layers there was red cabbage you buy out of a jar in the middle of the plate, the gravy was more like water with a bit of colour to it 2 tiny roaster a tiny bit of brocoli, 3 carrot strips, about 30 peas some mash (the mash was nice) and a Yorkshire pudding (also nice)! The food was barely warm!! And left us rather disappointed!! Had to eat again when we got home ase we were still hungry!! Total let down! Don't have the Sunday roasts

What a welcome - and I don’t mean that in a good way! We phoned ahead to say we would be a party of about 30 people, after a social choir concert held nearby, just for a drink. The bar staff were incredibly rude and made us line up, like waiting for school dinners. They told us to ‘zip it’, when an impromptu sing-song started, and they closed the bar at 10.10pm! Needless to say we won’t be going back.

I chose from the grazers menu and I wasn't disappointed. Very nice!

What a shame, could be a wonderful pub as it once was. Needs a new cleaner and staff that show some enthusiasm.

Came to reception no one there. Had to weight for the bar person to check in not good. Had Sunday lunch it was cold. Got to room wall paper hanging off . Toilet back dirty grout. We used to come a few years ago and it was lovely who ever owns it now put some money into it. It's like a bad weatherspoons .

We went as a family. Excellent food, staff and service. The shabby exterior and interior is a real 'put off' . This is a prime seafront location. There are even bedrooms that are not let out because of roof leaks and an absence of funds spent on maintenance/improvement. How depressing for the staff! Improvements have been 'promised' for 10+ (??} years. Is it being denied refurbishment to pave the way for demolition/redevelopment as flats??

Excellent food and excellent service. Prices were very reasonable.

We chose the Old colonial for my daughter's graduation surprise family meal as we had been before for her 21st bday and enjoyed our time then. The staff were helpful,friendly and professional. We had a table of 10 so a lot of orders the food was hot and all came out quickly not leaving any one waiting while others ate. No mistakes or anything missing! Like I said before the order was big but surprisingly it didn't break the bank! which makes me want to return and recommend this place to friends family and who ever wants to listen! :)

We booked a table here to celebrate my daughters 21st the staff were approachable and helpful and kept us informed. The food was good and I would definitely recommend visiting here

We stayed in the family room over the pub and loved it. It’s an old building, but it’s clean and has friendly helpful staff and a view of the beach from the family room. Don’t expect a modern highly staffed operation, but the rooms were big and clean, staff friendly, food and drink lovely, and parking free right by the beach! 5 stars for value for money at this location.

I ventured here in hopes of a good time as I was on my way into town. All I wanted was a coffee. Maybe a bite to eat? No. Instead I got cold bitter coffee and dry mediocrity food. I did complain to a member of staff who disappeared to "get it sorted" and never came back. Shows the vile service this awful place is being. If you fancy a trip here? DON'T

Place I'd tired needs a lick of paint

Visited the Old Colonial or a recent trip to the area. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel right at home! Amy looked after us and nothing was too much! Food was super hot and came really quickly! Cannot fault the place!

Not enough chips and not warm enough

Straight away I know it's a chain business where the manager doesn't want to make money. The restaurant is advertised open from 7.30 am until 11 pm?? Tried to come in 2 days ago and pub is closed at 8pm? Clearly manager wanted a quick finish to go and drink instead of obaying the time on your website how sad will not waste time coming here ever As I right this review I can see the other comments and I'm am not the only one who has a issue with this and the landlord obviously is a waste of space who has no passion for customers! ! I hope this place closes down and is taken by a reliable person!

We have visited Old Colonial twice during our stay in Weston this week. They have made us welcome with our dog. Signs around say it is a dog friendly pub, and we would definitely agree. We had lunchtime meals on both occasions and were pleasantly pleased with the service and quality of the meal. Prices are reasonable for a seaside resort. They have a quiz night during the week. We would definitely return when in Weston again.

Almost made it to 2 stars but the unpleasant service from the lady doesn't deserve it. The curry was terrible absolutely freezing and even when complaining the same lady did nothing. Why should I pay for ping food!! Good luck getting a penny from me or my friends ever again. Wish I had checked reviews before visiting, speaks for itself.

What a dirty place toilets are buzzing it burns your nose the smell of pee it's like they don't clean them. The tables are not clean they need to close it down and deep clean it

The people and menu are good, but the building is WELL overdue for a referb. The staff and locals - never mind holidaymakers - deserve better...

Drinks so expensive horrible smell outside smelled like weed glasses everywhere staff nowhere to be seen just had 1 drink and went next door to nicks where they have good service!

Ordered a mixed grill. Gammon wasn't cooked, steak was meant to be medium rare, it was that under cooked David Attenborough was waiting to film a documentary on it. Waitress advised she would tell the kitchen. Came back to inform she'd told the kitchen.....that was it. Nothing done about it. No refund on it. Obismal!! The cheesy garlic bread was the end of a French stick. Absolutely shocking. No wonder it was dead. Won't be returning here again.

Absolutely rubbish. No arcade fruitys on. No pool table. Toilets are a disgrace. Windows look like the leak. Absolutely terrible place. Not like it use to be.

Terrible food and terrible service, been here a hour - no one has cleaned plates around the tables - all staff just standing around. food all arrived late I had finished eating before my nans had even got here. Tables and chairs so dirty. £9.29 for smallest fish and chips. Won’t be back Defiantly won’t be eating here again.

Popped in for a drink on Saturday evening with friends. Before leaving I used the ladies toilets. They were disgusting and very smelly. It has put me off coming back for a drink let alone a meal.

We booked for 530pm for 6 of us for food thinking it would just be a meal setting we walk in and it's massively overcrowded people standing everywhere they had some sort of "band" playing and it was in the same area as you eat food and it was so loud you couldn't even talk yet alone have a family meal , the service wasn't great the bar staff were abrupt we thought booking at a restaurant there would be a separate part for live music we walked straight back out and went elsewhere

This is one of a few Marstons in Weston-super-Mare area but the place is looking very unkempt! This is really unfortunate as being on the seafront is a perfect position and always used to be a nice place to go!

The food was freshly prepared, and very tasty. There is a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are always around and work exceptionally hard to keep customers happy.

Quieter than the pubs beside them but popped in for a drink anyway was very expensive for a Guinness and J20 and didn't eat as other reviews said not to

My lasagne was freezing almost frozen. Staff didn't seem to care. Not returning.

On our arrival the guy on reception was extremely polite and helpful, he looked after us as a family. We entered the room it was bright, clean, welcoming and looked fresh with a Lovely sea view We will definitely go there again on our next trip.

Toilets are filthy and not very nice. Bar lady smelt of cigarettes which put me off my lasagne. Won't come back.

Was visiting friends in the area who recommended we eat here, we had the lunch club offer which was fantastic and the gammon was just the right size for me. My husband finished the delicious chocolate fudge cake. We were served by a very friendly lady who I believed may have been the manager. Overall we had a lovely time I would note that they could use a refurb especially on the toilets however they were clean.

I came here recently for a drink and a bite to eat and had a great time, good service and give praise to the Chef Ethan for a great steak meal.

Great service and definitely a pub id recommend my friends and family too, "Ethan" I think the name of the chef was, his food was brilliant and even exchanged some very kind and sincere words across the table.

Very understaffed and clearly no good management wont come back

Staff sat out front smoking in joggers looking rather rough around the edges, we didn’t bother going in. Having seen that as it put us all off. It’s not really much a professional look to see outside the business but there we go. Like to maybe try again another assuming some experienced cleaner management takes over. Really used to like coming in here but there we go.

Popped in for a pint with the dog. Proper dog friendly, treats on the bar top, came over with a bowl of water for the dog too, little things like this make your experience all the better.

Had a great time today. The atmosphere is good and the food was superb. Great assortment of drinks too Highly recommended
