Poppped in for a spot of lunch on bank holiday Saturday On our way to visit my poorly mum in hospital Wasn’t overly impressed with the lady behind the bar Asked if they had elderflower cordial or sparkling. No. Asked what strength real ales were. I don’t know.I will have to put my glasses on. Ordered drinks and asked to order food Only To be told the chef has just gone out for 1/2 hr????? On a Saturday lunchtime really? Who lets a chef go out at 12.30 on a Saturday??? Consequently we left without eating or having a drink

What a wonderful little gem of a place... Found this on our way home from visiting Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm. The Sunday roast was phenomenal and such good quality. Wonderful service and the hosts Alex and Amanda made us feel totally at ease and welcome and even brought nibbles for our travelled out pooches. Shame it's so far from home as I could see it being a fave on a regular basis. Keep doing what you're doing and you won't go far wrong and all the best for the future from "The Yorkshire Puds"

Had a beautiful Sunday roast sharing platter for two x2 & a mini roast for another member of our family. The pub has been refreshed and is looking loved and cared for again. As villagers we haven’t visited it in some years. We heard great reports on the Sunday lunch! So wanted to try. It’s great to now know we have a great village pub again. Owners who are making an effort to put it back on the map again. Thank you to all the staff and the chief for a beautiful Sunday roast. The beef, gammon and turkey was beautiful. The meal looked good I had all 3 meats gammon, turkey , beef ,the beef joint was sirlion after speaking to the chief. He reckoned the sirloin was the best joint for large numbers to eat as a roast dinner. A good third of this beef was grisle It was hard to cut and was hard to find a prime piece of meat. The new potatoes also looked nice and covered in herbs / spices they was hard and tasted terribly . When I cook beef in the slow cooker for 8/9 HOURS TOP side you can eat it with a spoon. The chief told us he never eats roast dinners I feel sure this is where the problem starts . I WOULD never let this guy cook more than a breakfast fearing he wud get this wrong.

Made a visit here late one Sunday afternoon, and was told the place was already shut. This was around 7.15pm. When I queried why they were closed so early, I was curtly told by the stocky looking bald-headed landlord ‘It’s what we do’, said in the manner of ‘If you don’t like it, you can f*** off elsewhere’ rather than someone genuinely interested in running a business. If ‘it’s what they do’, I wouldn’t have minded if I’d been spoken to properly. When I send them a message telling them, a lovely girl called Emma promptly replied apologising and offered me a drink on the house saying they’d ‘had a long day’, only to be overruled by a separate message from the power-hungry slaphead around 15 mins later saying I wasn’t welcome. A real pity as the place has potential, is surrounded by beauty, and had I been dealt with by ‘Emma’, I’m sure I would have loved to come back. Unfortunately if a place is run/managed by a rude egomaniac more interested in authority rather than customers, these places don’t deserve punters paying their wages and keeping them in work in a struggling industry. Fortunately, there is a wonderful pub called The Berkeley about a mile up the road, which was the complete opposite to my negative experience encountered here. Avoid the OCT and go there

It was our first visit here and we had had a recommendation from someone who had eaten here and was raving about the food. He was right! Four of us went for a Thursday lunch. The buttermilk chicken was gorgeous - tasty moist chicken in a lovely coating. The chips were perfect - golden and crispy and soft inside. Others had the fish and chips - lovely they said and the linguini was very good although a massive portion. They said to just ask for a small portion next time. Hubby had the lasagne and he said it was probably the best he has ever tasted. Nice puds. It isn't a huge menu but we like that. There were some specials on the board. Nicely furnished, clean with QR tracing in place. Lovely staff. Can't wait to go again .

After seeing the sign for a '16th-century pub' on the main road, we decided to go and see if the Old Chestnut Tree was open for business (as rules are only just relaxing after lockdown). We're so glad we did! Reading previous negative reviews, we weren't too sure about what we'd find - but we had a fabulous meal here. The pub is under new management, 'opening' just before the lockdown began. Despite the challenging timing, we received such a warm welcome. The pub itself inside is beautiful and cosy - retaining lots of original features, but with modern comforts. The best thing about the pub, though, is the staff. So friendly, and couldn't do enough to make sure our meal was enjoyable.A special thank you to the chef - Paul - who took the time out to chat with us. The cottage pie and cheesecake were highlights of the meal! (At the moment, the menu is limited due to coronavirus, but Paul told us how much he is looking forward to expanding the new menu as availability increases. Today, the menu included fish and chips, cottage pie, scampi, sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake). We'll be back!

Popped in here on the way back from a day out on the Cotswolds. Went to the bar but no one came so I asked a customer sat nearby if there was someone behind the bar and if they were doing any food.Just then a scruffy looking youth came round the corner and asked us what we wanted. I asked if there was food? "I'll go and find out" said the lad. He was gone about three minutes and then a girl in a rather revealing see through top turned up. "He's finding out" she said. The lad came back and said the grill was broke and walked off.So did we and went to the Anchor in Wyre Piddle instead.

Not knowing this area very well, we came across this country pub by accident and decided to try it for lunch. It’s a very old beamed pub, just as you would expect inside. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we were able to choose our table as it wasn’t very busy. A two course lunch is £12.95 and really was excellent value. For starters we both had the garlic mushrooms with toasted malted bread. Very rustic but lovely. Then the roast beef with all the usual trimmings. Loads of it and delicious and with a dish of extra gravy too. The beef was thickly sliced and very tender. Mmmmm. Absolutely stuffed we couldn’t manage a pud and eventually took our leave. Based on the TA reviews, 4 of us booked for Sunday lunch. We must have entered a pub in a parallel universe to the one used by the TA reviewers. No sign of a landlord or landlady. Every surface touched was sticky. Did not venture into the Ladies after the men in our party visited the Gents. One toilet not working, the paper towel holder hanging off the wall. No welcome by anyone when we arrived. No-one asked if we had booked for lunch - there were no other diners at the time we were eating. No Sunday lunch menu. We just got told what was available. Sat in the bar area (I think), with a particularly noisy set of locals. We just did not feel welcome. The meal was a huge disappointment - 3 of us had the beef which although tasted OK, was tough. Not a fan of plated meals, the only separate veg was cauliflower cheese, which was not bad. The lad serving our meals tried his best, but lacked serving skills. On no account will we be visiting this pub again, or recommending to friends. Yes, the building itself is full of charm and character, but could be SO much better.

I love historic buildings and this is certainly one of them. Built in 1537, it oozes charm and character with it’s flag stone floors (plus some carpeted areas) and old beams. It is conveniently located just off the A44 Worcester to Evesham Road at Lower Moor. They have a “2 meals for £12” lunchtime menu which represents very good value, but we chose lamb shanks from the main menu. It was the largest serving of lamb that we have ever had and everything was cooked to perfection. We were impressed. My wife couldn’t eat all hers but I didn’t let it beat me! The delightful new owners, who came in October 2017, are putting a lot of hard work into improving the facilities, sprucing up the premises and building up the business. In my opinion, they deserve to do well and I wish them good success.

They have obviously put a lot of time and money into renovating parts of the building but keeping its authenticity. The food was very good, just right portions and a good variety of desserts. Rose petal strewn tables, roaring fire, friendly and attentive staff, great food and superb value for money. They have only been (re) opened a short while so word has obviously not got round yet as it was somewhat under-subscribed. Locals, you are missing a treat! Possibly one of the best pubs we've been to in the area.

We visited recently and hand a really good meal. (Probably the best pumpkin soup I've ever had ) Home made bread, homemade pies - unfortunately, could not manage a pudding as all sounded delicious. We did not book and we are both vegans so was amazed at the choice offered to us. We even returned for a vegan full English for breakfast the next day after a walk - this was New Years day and a real treat, sat by a roaring fire. Staff could not have been more helpful or friendly and it sounds like management have done so much already, with more improvements planned. Given how tough all pubs are finding things, we hope local people will give the food a try - well worth a visit. Wish it was on our doorstep.

We visited the old chestnut tree before Christmas, the staff explained that it was their first day of opening and understandably their menu was restricted to a curry to make sure they were capable of operating at full capacity in the coming weeks, we enjoyed the curry on the day and decided today to return after a walk for a welcome lunch, as we were bringing our dog with us we are restricted to eating in the bar area, my wife went in first to check that a table was free which there was, when I went to the bar to order some drinks and ask for a menu I was told they were not doing food today, I feel that the staff have missed a trick by not providing food on a bank holiday, as the establishment we did eat in was so busy we had to wait for a table. What a shame for an establishment who are trying to get a business back on it's feet.

I took my disabled elderly mother-in-law here for a post-Christmas lunch on 27th December. This was intended to be our Christmas celebration lunch - and having seen all the good reviews on here, I was hoping for something rather more special, but it was OK.When I phoned to book, I mentioned that one of our party is disabled and uses a wheelchair. Knowing that this venue is an old building, I specifically asked if it was wheelchair friendly - and was told, yes it is. It isn't!! There are several steps and narrow corridors to be negotiated; the table layout is very cramped and the gaps between the chairs are very small; there is no accessible toilet; the ladies toilet is at the end of a narrow corridor, the cubicles are tiny and there are no grab handles or rails to assist anyone with mobility issues. The staff were friendly and tried to help - but we wouldn't have chosen this venue had we been made aware of the lack of accessibility. The menu was a bit disappointing; a scruffy, stained and dog-eared sheet of A4 paper, with a few pub-grub meal options. Fair enough; I hadn't checked the menu before booking (the website was out of action and I didn't think to ask about the menu when I phoned to book). The food we ordered was OK and that was reflected in the very reasonable prices. The service was very friendly and helpful. The building itself is a delight; very atmospheric, a lovely fireplace and beamed ceilings. I think this place has great potential and if managed well it could be lovely. The car park and garden appear to have been converted into several large bird cages, complete with birds in residence! Perhaps that will be part of the USP of this place soon, but currently it's not open to the public; there was a prominent sign saying "no public access". Curious!

Service was attentive and friendly but not pushy. Currently on a "pay us what you think we're worth" basis. Food was excellent, and lots of it. Good quality coffee.

Had first visit to The Chestnut Tree for Sunday lunch since it recently reopened. What a treat!! Warm and cosy with log fires burning in both the bar and restaurant. The staff are all really welcoming and friendly and Adam, the new landlord is an amazing chef. The food was delicious with homemade soups, fresh veg, locally sourced meats, scrumptious desserts and everything homemade from scratch. Highly recommend!!

Visited yesterday evening. The pub is a very interesting, very old building heavily timbered. Inside is warm and welcoming as are the staff. We enjoyed a great pub meal with excellent, friendly service. The homemade chips are particularly delicious.

I visited The Old Chestnut Tree Inn on the recommendation of a friend and how delighted was I that I went , the food was amazing, I had the steak pie WOW was delicious, and the homemade doughnuts with clotted cream with jam are a joy, the service was excellent and all the staff were very friendly, Adam and Gareth the landlords are so friendly making time to come and speak to guests and check how food was, the added delight is that there is a animal attraction area with an array of different animals which can be visited by all for a small donation for the upkeep of the animals, well worth a visit.

What a unique place! Staff are young, friendly and ever so welcoming I felt right at home, such good service and great atmosphere. Terrific menu, the food was fresh and cooked to perfection, not just your average pub lunch. Also best of all they are dog friendly and have a variety of animals to see, including monkeys, armadillos and raccoon dogs truly extraordinary day out!!

We popped in here for a drink, took them outside whilst he kids played on the playground opposite. The pub inside is very traditional but offered good local ales and make a cracking cuppa! The service was friendly.

this is our second year using this lovely little quaint pub, and as ever even the the ownership has changed, the new owner has continued with this great service and meals as usual. and most pleasant, plus we have a little shihtzu dog and if it is nice weather we sit outside, but we can also take him in to a table the owner sets up for us, again can really recommend the food, the service and the prices. TRY IT.

We were looking for somewhere for a big family lunch that was central for us all to get to from around the country. So, I didn’t know what to expect but from the start Jane and Andre were incredibly helpful and came up with a lovely fresh menu of seasonal food. We had a room to ourselves and had a great afternoon out. The food was delicious, and Jane and Andre did everything to make us feel welcome and relaxed. Even though they both must have been very busy getting us food and drink they never made us feel rushed and nothing was too much trouble for them. There were some very good wines and beers and also a great selection of no/low alcohol drinks which was welcome as so many of us were driving.

Had a carvery lunch at Norton Grange today, somewhat reluctantly after a poor experience in the summer....pleasantly surprised to find it outstandingly good!Gorgeous, perfectly cooked & generous portions from beef and gammon joints and a wide choice of vegetables which were well cooked and beautifully presented. The new head chef has made a massive difference to the food quality and it is unrecognisable from what was on offer a few months ago. Prompt and friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. Spread the word, the Norton Grange is back!

This once was our favourite place for a carvery. Booked a table for 24 when we arrived it was for 22 the plastic cover on the carvery defeats a carvery it's ridiculous and slow service we all ate at very different times. Claim it's for hygiene the person serving had some dirty tshirt on and the girl was flicking her hair behind the screen I get it's hot but take the plastic screen down for God sake and let customers help themselves definitely will not be returning as its the 2nd bad time we've had now and it's quite an expensive carvery for the service. Very disappointed our whole table were disappointed. Also why put the sauce at the beginning of a carvery? Have to push back all through the queue to get to sauce
