The Old Butchers in Doncaster

The 4 of of us enjoyed a fabulous breakfast here on Sunday morning. Fortunately we had booked a table as it was very busy , cafe area was full so we ate in the adjoining pub along with other diners. Service was great and our waiter ( young man ) was attentive and nice. We all ordered different dishes from the menu and each one was spot on ! Quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. No hesitation in recommending.

Me and my friend went for breakfast got to say it’s the best I have had,, the food was amazing the staff were very kind caring and helpful. The place itself was spotless so clean and organised . Service was brilliant we will be returning this weekend without a doubt , well done to Louise Claire and all the staff x

Six of our family met up at The Old Butchers, Fishlake for breakfast. It has now moved next to The Hare and Hounds Fishlake. This has not affected the friendly service and atmosphere at all, with the same owners and staff. There was a good choice for everyone. I had fried breakfast, with tea and toast, enough toast to have lashings of lovely marmalade on. Our daughters both had Eggs Benedict, which looked great, and, I am assured , was very tasty. The food was great value, and I am looking forward to our next visit.

Great place to go for food. Had a butchers breakfast which was freshly cooked and can honestly say was one of the best breakfasts I've ever tasted. The sausages are to die for. There is a large selection of other foods on offer, which I will sample on a later date! I would eecommend booking a table as it can get busy. Highly recommended.

Went for a Xmas eve breakfast, and was told on arrival that there would be a bit of a wait for breakfast as they were busy. There was 6 or 7 members of staff standing around behind the counter, but we had to sit at a dirty table. Asked for tea for two,we just about managed to get a cup and half each from the pot which cost £5. The breakfasts arrived half an hour later, toast was burnt, eggs were snotty, sausages were dry and hard (probably pre cooked) bacon was quite tasty, we got 1 ½ mushrooms each, might as well have not bothered, nothing on the plate was hot. We ate the breakfast as we were both hungry but if it hadn't been such a long wait I'd have sent them back. Probably go somewhere else next time.

Moved premises to the side of the Hate and Hounds.Slightly smaller in floor area.Excellent Christmas Dinner homage soups was to die for.Enjoyable evening.

This place is very small so getting a table may be an issue

The food is fab the place is great the service has a lot to be desired, lets this little place down. I have been quite a few times for Coffee and Cake, Breakfast and Lunch and every time the service has been bad, I do go back as everything else is amazing, just keep hoping it will get better???

We visited Sunday morning and it was very busy. Lot of bicycle visitors stopped for a brunch. Breakfast was really delicious, staff very welcome and nice and cosy environment.

Clean plates all round at the Butcher’s Inn Fishlake! Our first trip for breakfast and it was very tasty! I had the special - halloumi, smashed avocado and egg on sourdough bread with a side of hash browns, my fiancé had the Butcher’s breakfast. I especially enjoyed the fact there was a full mini Prosecco with the Bucks Fizz! We definitely recommend this place and we will be sure to return!

The original Butcher’s shop was owned by my father-in-law and it has been converted into a lovely cafe that retains the originality and tradition of the building. The place has a really nice atmosphere. I visited with my wife and daughter and the food we had was excellent, with every plate cleared, the service was also first class. We had a really nice afternoon and will definitely be back.

The food was gorgeous and menu provided a range of meal sizes suitable for anyone. Service was great to. I’d say it’s the best cooked breakfast I’ve had in Doncaster

So proud to have this place in Fishlake. Delicious light bites, meals and desserts - try the Scotch Eggs! Lots of homemade food on offer and you can even get a wine or beer. Plus the decor is perfect and the staff are friendly, accommodating and professional.

Went here and everything was so easy for us, from booking to ordering. The lady who welcomed us was very friendly and engaging - she sensed it was our first visit and went the extra mile. The breakfast was cooked from scratch and was so tasty. I can't wait to go back!

Been several times with my niece. Went two weeks ago and had great coffee and amazing fruitcake. Went the following week, ordered by phone hoping to get the fruit cake again, but alas sold out, had scors instead which were equally good. Claire said will make fruit cake for you next visit. True to her word rang and ordered coffee ( she recognised me and said I have made fruit cake for you, how good is that. I am now an ardent fan, fantastic food, and excellent service, thank you. What a find this place is. As my friend and I are both coeliac it is hard to sometimes hard to get quality gluten free options but not here. Loads on offer including sausages and bread but top quality. Staff very aware of cross contamination and also very Covid compliant. Brilliant tasting food and coffee, can't wait to go again.

I'd stayed in a hotel that did not offer breakfast, it was Sunday in Doncaster, I surely had no hope of a decent breakfast with decent coffee. Lady luck was with me today, a glimmer of hope after an Internet search turned out to be near perfect for me. Design, service, food, clientele, coffee all near spot on, that's it!

Visited here 1st time today. Staff very welcoming the food was excellent. Really nice surroundings. Hope to go back soon

Was ok, lovely decor. Sandwiches pricey for what they are... standard cheddar and slightly stale bread. Was meant to come with crisps on the side but didn’t. Big downside was lots and lots of flys on quite a few visits. Very close to a farm but should have some kind of nets in place as it really can be too much. Had scotch egg before and was lovely. Few changes could make it better.

Lovely cafe, just wish I was able to spend more time there. Can’t fault the staff, or the service they provide, lovely friendly folk and first class service every time. Gorgeous fayre at great prices. If you’ve not been I recommend you try it, promise you won’t be disappointed!

On a day trip to North Yorkshire to visit family, we needed a good hearty breakfast to set us up. My mum recommended we try the Old Butcher's, as she and my dad love their breakfasts and often stop in after he's finished a bike ride with friends.The shop is nice and comfy, with more tables than you'd expect for a small village cafe, but was still cosy. The smell of all the delicious food wafted through the air as we took a seat at a table towards the back of the restaurant, with one of the ladies coming to take our order once she had finished serving other customers at the counter. We each had a breakfast, two large and one small, which included just the right amounts of what we needed for a full day's activities. The ingredients were clearly fresh, and of the highest quality, as each part tasted unique and mouth-wateringly good! We will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Popped here Sunday with my best friend for breakfast it was very very tasty and lots 2 sausages 3 bacon tomatoes black pud 2 eggs and mushrooms and toast. Reasonable price and coffee great tasting. It's only 5 mins up the road from me so will be visiting again.

Came here for afternoon tea over the weekend, the café is really well set up and the staff were amazing. The food is brilliant and plentiful with lots of choice, and beautifully presented. Couldn't recommend this place enough, defiantly worth a visit!

I was recommended this place by a friend, I took my Mum and Gran for an early Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea, everything was amazing, absolutely gorgeous fresh food and worth every penny. The owners and staff were so friendly and couldn’t do more for us, we will definitely be back and I can’t wait.

Nice decor, welcoming staff & excellent food & drink at fair prices. If you visit often enough the staff will hold your loyalty card on the counter for future visits. Good for cyclists & families alike.

Friendly welcome, homemade cakes and scones, and proper top quality breakfasts. Only open 12 months but recently won South Yorkshire Cafe of the Year, and very well deserved. Definitely worth a visit!!

Called lunch time for bite to eat friendly welcome from staff which was nice, place very clean and homely menu not extensive which wasnt a problem and what they served was beautiful and well presented .wife picked a piece of cake for afterwards they looked lovely . Thankyou for a lovely meal

Lovely place. My husband had the butchers breakfast and I had the apprentice breakfast both thoroughly enjoyable.

I had never heard of Fishlake never mind visited it until this morning as my son was playing football there. I arrived hungry after an early start and drove through the village in hope of something to eat. Not too optimistic after driving along the main road, I turned into the village on the way back. In the centre I found this cafe. Awesome. Very friendly staff, lovely little cafe & the food was spot on. The village looks really nice too. I look forward to his next match here!!

Second visit with mum for coffee and cake and once again hit the spot. Great service friendly staff pleasant surroundings both coffee and cake delicious will call again

Someone has invested a lot of time and money in this place.

Called in here this morning for a breakfast and was absolutely disgusted/ mortified/ horrified to find no hash brown with the breakfast!! ( This is for the folk who like to find fault with anything that they can) For the rest of the normal people in the world go here have a breakfast and enjoy it, it’s absolutely splendid. Would give it 6 stars out of 5 but due to the lack of the hash brown it will only be getting 5 1/2 from me.

Excellent service, very cosy and friendly with good service. The food is very good quality and cooked fresh.

Our first visit to this place and we were not disappointed. The selection is interesting and different, the presentation includes appropriate additions and the food is really tasty. On top of that the staff are very helpful and the place is immaculately clean. Everything is freshly cooked so expect a short wait.

I would definitely recommend The Old Butchers, The menu suits all and the also do specials each day. The staff are very welcoming and friendly too. There is free WiFi so perfect for people on the go and you can also take food and drink away with you. If you are in the area definitely give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!!

A family managed cafe run by the village locals. Great choice, great price, great choices, great look and matched by very affordable prices. If in the area pop in and you will feel more than welcome.

Fabulous friendly cafe with a warm welcome. Free WiFi and phone charging points. Ample parking to the rear of the cafe. Can’t find what your looking for in the menu the ladies will be only too happy to help. A little gem

We go as a family every Sunday for breakfast, this is an unbelievable welcoming place the food and service are excellent. The portions are large, the food is locally sourced, delicious, fresh and tasty. The decor and atmosphere are a wonder to behold...wish I’d not told you, want it all for ourselves. Lunchtime and evening definitely keeping to ourselves....its too good.

the paninis are gorgeous! And so is the avocado and lime cake. The staff are pleasant and friendly the serviice is great and so it’s the atmosphere. Overall a good place to visit. Can recommend.

The poached eggs were to die for but the service was very poor some of our order never arrived and we had to wait far too long for the food , also o ordered a scone when it came it was burnt not just slightly the bottom was black when I told the waitress it was burnt and I couldn’t eat it she just replied it’s the last one and walked away I couldn’t eat my son did but I was not impressed and I don’t think I will return

Went for brunch. I had croissant with gorgeous local jam. Husband had home made scotch egg. Cannot recommend this place enough. So homely and staff cant do enough for you. Definitely worth a visit. You can also take things away including the jams, chutney and specialty sauces.

Little cafe only been open a few weeks, but its fab..the food is lovely I had jacket potato done in the oven not a microwave and it was delicious..sandwiches, cakes, scones, speciality coffees all served by friendly staff in beautifully decorated surroundings. wishing them every success for the future...

We arrived at 11.30 this morning just as the breakfast service was finishing but the lovely staff were more than happy to serve us. My other half went for the Old Butchers full breakfast, I had poached eggs which were cooked perfectly.

We went to the Grand Opening of The Old Butchers café last weekend. It was a very busy occasion, so many people arriving to see what had happened to the village butchers shop which had been closed for some time. What a transformation ! The place was buzzing. Guests were treated to several different items of food e.g. warm sausage rolls, pork pie, scones etc. and glasses of bubbly, all brought round by very pleasant helpers.
