We had christmas afternoon tea, food was amazing and the staff were lovely. We will definitely return, what a lovely place.

Had a beautiful afternoon tea, with such a lovely atmosphere and wonderful down to earth people. Can’t complain for the price as we loved it, will definitely be back again.

Excellent tearoom. Very nice food and coffees with a wide choice menu. Really like the decor.....oh and the bathroom facilities have unique fittings 😊

Took Mum for a birthday lunch following a friend's recommendation - whats not to love! Excellent food and cakes, lovely service and a quaint and quirky environment! Most definitely will be returning.

Wow what a find. Stopped off randomly as passing by and found a gem. Simple food done perfectly. Why aren't more places like this?! Lovely relaxed environment by the lake.

First time trying this place and it was absolutely spot on. Had a breakfast wrap and had to try the chocolate and pecan scone because it looked amazing and it didn't disappoint. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone

4 friends met today for a lovely lunch at Dainty Doris - it’s not really cheap but imho you get what you pay for - everything was very tasty and we can highly recommend it! We hadn’t booked but we got a table ok - next time we would book ahead as it was full when we left.

We had afternoon tea today at Dainty Doris and oh my goodness it was the BEST one I've ever had! A perfect mix of savory and sweet. The portion was amazing, we were so stuffed we had to take some home! Everything was homemade and delicious! The small mug of homemade tomato and basil soup was a lovely start. They provided cheese and cucumber and egg mayo sandwiches, and a ham and coleslaw wrap. There was homemade cheese and onion quiche and homemade sausage roll along with salad and crisps. The cakes were absolutely outstanding, we had jar trifles, apricot scones with jam and clotted cream, brownies and a jammy dodger blondie. All with a pot of tea to wash it down, absolutely perfect! Well done to the Dainty Doris team, definitely will be back to fetch others!

The Brownies are to die for!! Best I've tasted in quite a while. The Crunchy Square was also delicious. Service was excellent, very friendly. Worth travelling the 400 mile round trip!

A quaint place, which was reasonably busy. This was our first visit. We were in the area, neeeeded a Coffee (and we're Caffeine free), so did a Google search, and this came up. I had Welsh Rarebit, Ar Lass a Ham Sandwich. Both with homemade Coleslaw. The Slaw in itself is quite interesting, Well worth a visit if'n you are in the area

Thank you to all the staff for a lovely experience and for going out of their way to accommodate the allergies for people in our party. We will definitely be back.

We came for lunch on the recommendation of friends and it did not disappoint! It was a busy lunch service and we managed to get a table without booking. It has a lovely atmosphere and loved the decor. We made our choices and the teas/coffees came quickly. The teas were served in china cups! The food was delicious and fresh. We also had room for cakes/tarts!! Will definitely return for afternoon tea in the future!!

Found after a search for a late lunch. Situated in a fairly ordinary building near a fishing lake, it’s well decorated inside as a traditional tea room. Two Welsh rarebits and a sausage and bacon sandwich later we felt well fed with good fresh food and happy service. I did look on at several others enjoying what looked to be delicious afternoon tea with some envy. Maybe next time.

Just visited Dainty Doris for the first time. Absolutely lovely place with fab, friendly staff and the best sausage roll I’ve ever had! Would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again very soon.

If you have never been here you’ve just got to go. The food is amazing all made by Alison and her team. We had afternoon tea and everything was fabulous. The service is outstanding too. Just do it you will not be disappointed.

This is a fantastic little cafe with the most lovely staff and cakes! We didn’t book and it was busy (recommend you to book) so we decided to get coffee and cake to take away. As this was being prepared a table became available and they happily offered it to us. The team working there were so busy but full of smiles and the cakes were extremely good. We will be returning soon!

A long overdue visit that was worth waiting for. Well-presented, delicious food with plenty of choice at a good-value price. I enjoyed quiche, crisps and salad and my husband had a Ploughman's with a tasty sausage roll. Couldn't manage a dessert but had to take one home for later - yummy! Staff are very friendly and we had a lovely lunch out in a welcoming, pleasant environment. We will be back!

Second visit for a full English it was just as good as the first one.

Went to dainty Doris yesterday with the ladies and had an amazing Breakfast Thank you Alison Clark the staff really friendly 💯 percent will be going back it has a lake so in summer you can sit outside so if looking for somewhere to eat I definitely recommend it

What a lovely welcome we received today at this beautiful coffee shop , never had such a warm welcome. Food was delicious, didn’t wait long , will definitely be returning as the cakes etc looked amazing but sadly couldn’t fit one in this time I was the lady with the little white Shicon & my friend

If I could give this place 10 stars then I honestly would. It's an absolute gem. Took my mum for afternoon tea and it was fab. Amazing choice and rather than it being an afternoon tea mostly with cakes, it had a lovely selection of savoury on it too. Best afternoon I've had. Lovely staff too and very accommodating as my mum had an afternoon tea voucher which had expired due to myself being ill and the ladies honoured it for us. Will definitely be returning for another. Normal menu also fab which my daughter had x

Dainty Doris is one of my favourite places! I love all their homemade delights, especially the Manchester Tart! I've not reviewed before but really felt I should this time. I was there yesterday at their first LIVE music event "Tea, tunes & cakes". It was a wonderful afternoon with great music, complimented by fantastic homemade food, a great choice of drinks and very attentive staff who couldn't do enough to help. I can't wait for their next LIVE music event in July, and look forward to whatever future events that they might host. DD is certainly worth a vist anytime!! Thank you Team Doris Xx

Lunch with friends at Dainty Doris Set in a gorgeous location it’s an ideal place if you want a light lunch - sandwiches - jkt potato etc Lovely staff Nicely decorated although the wooden chair I was sat on was very wobbly and the glass on the table had lots of cracks in it. Didn’t spoil anything but maybe needs a bit of an update I had a ham and cheese toastie served with homemade coleslaw and crisps My friend had jkt potatoe with cheese and beans Really nice food! Really enjoyed it! The afternoon teas the table opposite we’re having looked amazing!

A lovely tea room with a good choice on the menu, plus a specials board. The staff are helpful and friendly. There is also an outside eating area.

The cafe lived up to the reputation I have heard about previously. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food delicious. I now know to book in advance in future, luckily we went when it was fairly quiet. Our only concern was the accessibility. Maneuvering a wheelchair across the gravel is extremely difficult and is also very challenging for anyone with balance or other mobility issues. We understand the expense of other types of surfaces such as tarmac but there are self binding gravels which might prove to be a huge improvement and encourage customers to return who have such problems. But overall excellent quality and service.

An absolute treasure. The bread is to die for. We took 3 of our grandchildren for breakfast which our 11 absolutely loved the pancakes and strawberry milkshake. Definitely will go again.

Absolutely would recommend this place. The staff are lovely, the atmosphere is wonderful and the food and drinks are top tier. Lovely and cosy, right next to a fishing lake so lovely to sit outside on the benches in warmer weather. Always got a different range of sweet treats and they are always delicious!

This was our first visit here and we loved it so much we will definitely be returning! We had the Xmas afternoon tea which gave us a lovely selection of treats and a pot of proper tea! Staff were friendly and attentive. Very busy place so I will book before my next visit. Nice selection of homemade cakes and meals at reasonable prices were on the menu.

We are just back from a delicious lunch at Dainty Doris's. It came highly recommended and I can see why, the food was delicious. I had the ploughman's lunch with homemade sausage roll, my mum had the home made quiche and my daughter had the huge club sandwich, all were delicious and filling. A surprise then that we could also manage a cake, but how could we not they look fabulous and tasted even better. Thank you to all the lovely staff for a lovely afternoon. One word of warning, book in advance if you can as it is very popular.

What a lovely warm, cosy & friendly cafe. The staff are so welcoming, the food was fresh and absolutely gorgeous. We had afternoon tea and had to take some home as there was a large selection of sandwiches, pastries and cakes. Very very reasonable price for the quality and quantity. The decor is so lovely also.

Absolutely adore this place. As a regular visitor I have never been disappointed with the service or the food. The staff are always polite and are willing to go out of their way to ensure a positive experience. Despite it being very cold outside (-5) today, they were very prepared with electric heaters. Really enjoyed their new breakfast menu, would definitely recommend x

lack of choice in the afternoon tea food. Sat freezing with coats on. After telling staff one of them went and opened a window. Attitude from one young member of staff was disgusting! Rude and clever saying she opened window because of condensation. At nearly £20 per head for afternoon tea you do not expect to be sat freezing cold!! Having a private conversation and then some random bloke assuming related to a member of staff rudely interrupted and asked what we was talking about. This was for my mums birthday and hate the fact it has been spoilt by the attitudes of the staff. Will not be returning or recommending to anybody!!!

Been here today, The afternoon tea was not worth £18.95 per head.The place was freezing wich made it very uninviting.This random bloke came and sat behind us who looked rather untidy, going in n out of the kitchen, listening to our conversations.After I went to the toilet he challenged my daughter and asked her why she didn't think it was worth it! A member of staff opened the window right next to where we were sat and said she needed to do it to let out the condensation.I believe this place is under knew ownership.Think they need to learn some manners

It's been a while since having lunch at Dainty Doris as it seemed to be loosing its appeal. New management, all very friendly, smiley and obliging. Food was excellent! Monster sized club sandwich made with quality tasty ingredients Desserts, a must have!

Called in today, the new owner Alison and staff were very welcoming, the food was delicious, will definitely be back. Can highly recommend.

Booked afternoon tea for my sisters 30th Birthday, turned up and they said they had my booking but didn’t put down I wanted afternoon tea which when I called I specified on more than one occasion, that’s what I rang for. They said on the day as they didn’t have it down as afternoon tea they couldn’t do it for us which was rather disappointing as that’s why it got booked, they offered the standard menu but we chose to walk away due to the fact we wanted something a little more special for a 30th birthday occasion. Such a shame left feeling very dissapointed and let down.. we have visited before for lunch and had afternoon tea before and also had planned to return again for another occasion. But as we did today, we will be going to the Earl of Doncaster. Such a shame as it’s always the best to go with small hidden gems but unfortunately won’t be visiting again.

The afternoon tea was delicious. It had a good selection of homemade savouries including, sandwiches, quiche and sausage roll, along with scones with jam and clotted creams and other sweet treats. The place was decorated delightfully and we were disappointed we didn't get to sit outside as there is a lovely seating area next to the lake.

Beautiful ploughman's lunch, well worth a drive out. Nice little antique shop to browse around after lunch too.

This is the second visit here and it was perfect, delicious home made food,we had the afternoon tea, staff are very friendly and courteous, a lovely setting, what more could you ask for, won't be long before we visit again.

I have experienced a lot of afternoon teas but this by far is the best one I’ve ever had! Everything was delicious, all homemade & you got plenty. Me & my mum thoroughly enjoyed it & looking forward to returning. The staff were all really nice, it was very clean & the atmosphere was just lovely!

This is one of the finest cafes ever. Freshly made food and an excellent choice. The staff are very friendly. If you are in the Norton/Askern area of Doncaster call in you will not be disappointed and I am sure you will visit more than once. You might have to reserve a table in busy periods but they have outside seating when the weather is warmer.
