This is out favourite place for food with friends, this time we brought family and friends. And it did not disappoint again! The best experience, friendly staff, clean and efficient service as always. Thank you 😊

Good choice of menu, delicious food , imaginative presentation and very pleasant staff. We really enjoyed our meal. Sadly we don’t live near there to visit again.

Went for a family meal out at Old Bank and as usual did not disappoint. Caters for all whether with family, friends or a date night. Staff were brilliant and the food was brilliant Will be back again in the future!

We are friends who now all live away from Carlisle but meet up annually. We have eaten here previously when the food was amazing. This time did not disappoint either. I chose the mango coated halloumi kebab. For something that sounds so simple, the flavours were absolutely stunning. There was a hint of coconut delicately in the background. I tried identifying what herbs were used as I'd love to recreate this dish for my husband but couldn't. It really was an outstanding vegetarian dish and I find that unless you visit a vegetarian/vegan only restaurant then vegetarian food and flavours tend to be an after thought. Not at The Old Bank. The service was prompt and unobtrusive and we love the eclectic decor and ambiance. I remember this building as a fabric shop as a child and young adult. It's current uuse is much more appealing. We will return.

We've just had the most wonderful meal and evening at the Old Bank. The food was delicious, my husband particularly enjoyed the lamb. There was also a lot of effort put into the dessert menu. The front of house made the whole service run so smooth, with just the right amount of attentiveness. This is our second visit here and we will definitely be back.

Brilliant meal. Had no idea there was a 2 course special menu on wednesday/Thursday, £25, Incredible value. I had beef tacos for starters and so tasty, and a steak for mains, plus you get to pick 2 sides and a sauce. Ive paid £50/60 In London for a steak only like that and not as tasty plus everything else is extra, Excellent choices and all cooked to perfection. Had starters and mains, the option is there for mains/sweet, and I'm sure they would probably give you the option of having 3 courses for a small charge. Couldn't fault anything and extremely tasty In a relaxed environment. Waiter working hard for his money On a thursday night so well done, service was appreciated

We had a wonderful meal at The Old Bank. We couldn’t fault a thing! From starters to pudding it was fabulous! The sauces with our steaks were incredible and wouldnt hesitate in going back or recommending to others!

We went for tea with 4 family friends the day after our wedding and the food was amazing and the staff were brilliant and congratulated us and gave us a bottle of bubbly on the house! Cant wait for our next trip! and thank you so much

The Old Bank Millport is wonderful. The rooms are exceptional. So luxurious. The bedding The accessories top notch. The breakfasts are very very good sets you up for morning afternoon and night! Almost perfect but not quite hence 4 stars rather than 5 Food was delicious and the waiting staff good, nice menu something for everyone,reasonable prices etc, restaurant beautiful inside with quirky decor. Even though we ate early, we all wanted the same dessert, 3 of them and they only had 1 left so that was a bit of a disappointment ? I booked our table 3 weeks in advance so bit disappointed to have the one nearest the front door Large table behind us constantly going out for a cigarette or vape and leaving doors open, was a chilly evening, people coming in to restaurant again leaving door open and then loitering by our table before seating plus staff members constantly going outside with various bags of rubbish and bins, I got a bit fed up with all of the above! I couldn’t request another table as it was a full restaurant but next time I will definitely request a different table when booking

My husband and I chose this restaurant as the food sounded nice and it looked an interesting place. It didn’t disappoint and I had a lovely birthday dinner. We had lovely cocktails which we didn’t realise that it was 2 for 1 on Fridays as it mentioned in small letters on the cocktail menu. What was nice was that you didn’t have to get the same cocktails too. The food was fabulous! The staff were attentive and the place had a lovely atmosphere. I would definitely go back!

The service and food were amazing, upon arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our reserved table. The menus were delivered and drinks taken within minutes, after looking through the menu we decided and ordered, one vegetarian Curry pie and one hunter’s burger. The order was delivered within 15 minutes, both dishes looked amazing, well presented, hot and fresh. Both dishes were very flavoursome, visually appealing and delicious. We have booked several times for when we are going to be in Carlisle traveling from Glasgow, this being the highlight of the day for the day. We would highly recommend for a visit. Thank you

We visited a few weeks ago after reading great reviews, we loved it and returned again last night. Wow it didn't dissapoint. Grill night we had a Starter, steak, 2 sides and a sauce for £25! PP. Exceptional quality, the Stilton sauce was to die for. The deserts are unreal although we didnt manage one last night. We took our son this time and he had a steak burger fries corn on the cob and home made ice cream for less than £9! Amazing hospitality the owner even came out and gave our son an easter egg! We usually go to a well known steak chain that sets us back a lot more for less. We will be spending our money here from now on. Support local 💗

Booked for Sunday Lunch as was looking for somewhere to have Easter Sunday lunch during our visit to Cumbria. The reviews were excellent, so we decided to book it! Wow, I'm so glad we did. The food was incredible, and we all agreed it was THE best Sunday Roast we've ever had, the desserts were amazing too, they even did one as a takeout for us as we were too full to eat it there but knew we'd want it later! The restaurant staff were all so friendly, and we had a good chat with the chef. I just wish we didn't live over 300 miles away as we'd love to try their standard menu too.

It was my first visit here for lunch yesterday and I can honestly say I was not disappointed! After a little while, it was a difficult decision, soo many yummy choices on the menu, I went for the House burger with Oak Smoked Cheddar and it was absolutely delicious😋 My friend ordered The Big Breakfast burger (no photo of that, sorry) but it was huge and delicious!! Lovely atmosphere, very attentive staff, look forward to visiting again, check it out!

Myself and my partner have frequented The Old Bank many times over the last 5+ years and honestly it’s never been short of incredible. The food is always amazing; traditional with fun and unique twists! The burgers are a particular favourite of mine. The quality of the food is second to none and always cooked to perfection. The staff are always so accommodating if you want something swapped out or added in too. I have never, ever had a bad meal here, and I’ve always left feeling satisfied and unbelievably full! The portions are super generous without quality ever being compromised. The Old Bank has such a quirky, charming atmosphere. It has quite a cosy vibe to it with the darker wall colours and unique wallpaper, but then has super fun and conversation worthy decorations - we love the parrots and exotics birds currently in “the naughty corner” best. Walking down the stairs to the bathroom is even fun because of the flamingo wallpaper! One of the main things I feel makes The Old Bank such a fantastic experience is how truly fabulous the staff are. They are always so welcoming, accommodating, and bubbly. Always up for a chat and a laugh between bringing food and drinks over, and always willing to help in any way they possibly can. The staff along deserve a 5 star review. On our most recent visit last night, I had the pleasure of having one of the most delicious things I think I’ve ever drank in my whole life! Sticky toffee pudding is my most favourite culinary delight in the world (the OB happen to make the best one of these in the city and beyond too!), and a martini (usually a French one) is my favourite drink. Imagine my excitement when I seen “sticky toffee martini” on the drinks menu! After our main meal I ordered one (alongside a pudding I really didn’t need, but couldn’t resist), and oh my life, I dreamed about it all night! It was heaven in a class. It was thick and creamy, full of caramel and deliciousness that I do not have the words to explain! It also came garnished with a little slice of sticky toffee pudding, which as always went down a treat! They really are absolute geniuses over at the OB. Always creating amazing food and drinks, with twists and turns that leave your mouth watering and desperate to come back again! To sum up; the place is absolutely mint and if you’re ever in Carlisle, there is nowhere else I personally would recommend you to go for food. Hands down THE BEST🙌🏻

Booked this beautiful restaurant for Mother’s Day as a treat from the children to there mum. And as usual not disappointed. Greeted at the door by the wonderful Harry Slater and his staff. Had the beautiful two course Sunday dinner cooked to perfection. Never rushed to make a decision on anything. And then of course had a chat with the fantastic owner Matt and complimented him for a beautiful afternoon. Highly recommended 👍❤️

Went here for Sunday lunch with friends. The sea bass starter was delicious! Steak pie, roast beef, and roast chicken were lovely. There were plenty of extra vegetables on the table. The fruit crumble was very disappointing. The topping wasn't crumbley, it was soft. There was a scoop of ice cream on the crumble and a small pot of custard on the side. There was an extra chicken lunch on our bill, but that was soon rectified. This hasn't put us off going again, as the food is really good. Waiting staff are good. Quirky decor.

Best meal out in a long time. Couldn’t fault it for quality and service and the atmosphere got better during the evening (we had an early booking). The food was definitely the star of the show, and we think we can cook. We should have done this over a week ago and have now forgotten the name of the lovely front of house guy. We’ll be back 👏👏

A group of 5 of us ate here on both days we were visiting Carlisle. It was near Xmas their vegetarian Wellington was amazing as was the beef. The burger share platters were unbelievable and the desserts were to die for. Thanks to Matt, Will and Harry for a warm welcome, amazing food and excellent service.

Visited the old bank today for Christmas work do. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. It was quite busy yet the staff were still very attentive. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and a warm and inviting atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Sat down at 8 got first course at 8.45. Then got 2nd course at 9.45. Ordered drinks which never arrived. Staff vaping behind the bar. The kitchen thought steak was roast beef and chips? Just really poor from start to finish. Surprising because they have a good rep but i wouldn't go back after that visit

Food was excellent as was the atmosphere in the restaurant. Although it was busy service was relatively quick and our food came within 20 mins. The only issue was when we ordered our food, our waitress seemed uninterested and gave one word answers when we asked about certain dishes on the menu. Apart from that I would have given 5 stars..

Went here as we had been recommended it as a great place. Unfortunately this was not our experience. It started fine and we ordered a bottle of white wine. Before this arrived we were abruptly asked to move table. I was a bit disgruntled mainly by the way we were asked but we moved and didn't think any more of it. Next our white wine came which was put down on the table without a word from the waiter. When we went to pour it we found the bottle was warm. We then waited for probably about 25 minutes without anyone coming to take an order. By this point we were fed up and left. Entirely disapointed

Attended this evening (Sept 2023) after reading the reviews from other sites. We arrived on time and were seated. Me and my husband were then moved with no apology or explanation to a different table, we ordered white wine which was near enough slammed on our table with no care and it was room temperature. Finally we were left to wait for 30+ minutes with no one coming to take our order before we got fed up and hungry and decided to waste no more time and leave. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

They catered for over 30 of us the food was amazing and the service was brilliant, thanks for a great night to all the team at The Old Bank.

Can't fault this place. They fitted us in as walk-ins on a Saturday evening. Food was banging, service was great, enjoyed looking at all the decor. We'll be back!

I love this place! The food was absolutely spectacular. We went for Sunday dinner which is 2 courses of 3 choices. You can do starter and main or main and dessert. We were traveling through but for any who are visiting in the future, if you go for Sunday dinner (which I highly recommend) and are traveling with another person I suggest one of you get the starter and the other dessert and then split those between you. The starter portion would have been considered a main meal portion in other restaurants. Plus the dinner was massive with two veggies on the side. My husband commented “I am finally served a meal with enough gravy” and good god the gravy was delicious. He got the beef, I the chicken, and our daughter the fish and chips. The decor was fun and quirky. Every time I thought I had seen every detail then I noticed something new. This is a must stop restaurant.

The old bank is the best restaurant in Carlisle the food has a twist and the menu is a little different it's our favourite restaurant and go everytime we are in Carlisle it's beautiful.

Wednesday night grill is a must !!!

Probably one the best restaurants in Carlisle, good quality food, great service, make sure you leave room for dessert.

We had the cumberland sausage and lasagne bites starters, and bass and pork platter mains... Beautiful quality food, in a very intimate environment... thoroughly enjoyed and recommend the experience..

The food is absolutely gorgeous here. We don't drink so the mock tails were fab. It can get noisy on a weekend so we could hardly hear each other. The decor is so pretty. The staff could do with a bit of umph to them. We would go back though as the food is beautiful.

Amazing food....amazing. The flavours and presentation is fantastic. The service was good but a bit more personality wouldn't have gone a miss. The decor was beautiful with a relaxing atmosphere. We had virgin cocktails and the lilted tilted was gorgeous. We will definitely be back.

Sunday afternoon as a couple 2.04.23 - disappointing we wanted scotch egg starter and beef pie unfortunately the restaurant had run out of both. The waiting on staff were not very attentive. Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive on both occasions when we ordered them. Food was average as what we wanted had sold out we ordered nachos and ham for starters and then a house beef burger and a chicken burger. The waffle fries these came with had far too much seasoning. It was a real disappointment we paid £79.69 for poor service and unfortunately very average food and I will sum the visit up as a very lack lustre experience.

I spent some time trying to find a cute little restaurant in Carlisle ... and what a little gem did I stumble upon. This place is stunning. The interior design is a dream ... I could spend hours upon hours happily admiring everything. The cocktails were beautiful and delicious. The food .... Lord help me! My taste buds were in heaven. We had the cod with bubble and squeak and pea veloute and the venison. Honestly, who's the chef ? I need to marry him or her. I'm in a food coma now. Someone needs to relocate this little gem of a restaurant to Newcastle so I can just pop in every day. Also, the staff ❤️❤️❤️❤️ so friendly and welcoming. This visit has been the highlight of my week.

Sunday lunch was lovely today. Big portions and lots of fresh veg. The pork and chorizo hash starter was very good, I would have that gain as a main.

For my first visit to The Old Bank, I was impressed despite it being a bit of a hectic occasion… I was here as part of a stag party so had pre-booked what we were having to eat (more on that later) Firstly, we were sat by the door as soon as you go in so I didn’t get to see much of the building apart from the first room as you enter but I think this place is actually quite large from what I could see. The decor is the first thing that hits you as you walk in, there’s colour, ornaments and interesting tidbits in every nook and cranny! We had to go to the bar to order our drinks - I’m not sure if this is just because there was so many of us or if this is standard in The Old Bank, it definitely made things easier for our party as we were paying separately for everything but it would be a bit annoying on something intimate like a date night - There was also a bit of noise from glass being thrown away at the bar but it wasn’t anything crazy or overly annoying, just loud when it happened. The food arrived quickly, I ordered the OB southern fried chicken kebab with BBQ crinkle fries, sriracha coleslaw and “OB House Gravy” The BBQ crinkle fries were absolutely divine, I’d return just for another portion of them! The chicken looked great and was really crispy (just how I like it), it just slightly lacked in flavour for me unfortunately, it needed a bit more seasoning for the taste to live up to how it looked. The OB House Gravy was lovely, the chicken was much more flavoursome after dipping it in this, there was plenty of it too… I didn’t have to ask for more which is always good. I wasn’t overly keen on the coleslaw but I don’t like sriracha sauce so it was never going to be my favourite - I imagine it’s a lovely concoction for anyone who likes the two! The staff all seemed friendly and they were on hand if we needed anything whilst juggling all their other guests at the same time. I’ll definitely return on a quieter occasion to fully experience The Old Bank, I think my partner will really enjoy the place. I highly recommend The Old Bank to anyone looking for somewhere in the city centre which is a bit quirky with a good menu, friendly staff, oh and super comfortable seats!

Fantastic bottomless brunch food was amazing. Drinks service was a bit slow at first but we seemed to be the last table to order but the brunch menu was amazing we all really enjoyed it.

Booked in for a sunday lunch whilst up in Carlisle for the races. We both chose the pork belly, followed by cheesecake and sticky toffee biscof desserts. All this plus a bottle of Italian Pinot Grigio came to just £60. £20 each for 2 courses of food of this quality is great value. The food was unbelievably good. It's clear that The Old Bank has a genuine chef who knows his trade, as opposed to a cook just heating things up. The welcome we received upon arrival and the service throughout were first class. If you're a foodie then you must give this place a try. Would recommend pre booking a table.

Lovely brunch and lunch meals here. Dog friendly throughout morning and lunch service and our little dachshund enjoyed his visit. We've been a few times and will continue.

Great food and good service. Nice pub with a good atmosphere. Took the kids and they accommodated them well. Free kids meals at the moment which is great.

So, we were looking forward to celebrating a family meal at the restaurant for 8 of us. We arrived at 07:30, front of house were good taking orders for drinks then food after about 10-15mins. Only 3 starters ordered and 8 main meals. All going well, but we ended up waiting until 20:55 until all our meals had been served! Not sure if they were understaffed in the kitchen but we have eaten here before and not experienced this long wait before. The restaurant was not busy. We had to complain about the sirloin steak as there was an issue with the amount of fat on it compared to the meat. The front of house were kind enough to agree and knocked this off the bill. Overall not the best experience, maybe just one of those nights but willing to give it another go as we have not had this on previous visits.
