Food was delicious. Had to wait longer than expected but worth the wait. Great atmosphere.

Nice food and staff. A bit dark in the place..need some light in the place.

Here for live sports and beers. The place was very crowded initially as they were hosting an event but the mood settled later in the evening.

We arrived around 11 and ordered breakfast items for 4 adults. The pub was quiet and there was plenty of different seating arrangements to choose from. We didn't have to wait long for food either. Service was great as was the food. Only fault we had was that some of the drinks glasses were a fair bit worn and scratched.

The staff were lovely and helpful going above and beyond. The atmosphere was calm and quiet with light music with such lovely autumn decorations. They were sadly out of regular fries however they're waffle fries were crisp and fluffy. Pricing seems standard market price for the time.

Cannot be faulted. A solid, consistent pub. Nothing fancy but does the job at regular prices. Spacious inside with a beer garden.

Can't go wrong with this pub; food and drinks are well priced given the location, and atmosphere is consistently pleasant. Varied events such as quizzes and karaoke throughout the week make it a great venue for socials for a wide range of people.

A very busy pub with karaoke and loads of places to sit both in and out. An interesting experience for one about 3 times the age of the majority of customers! It brought back good memories.😁

The presence of emperor max once i walked in made my nightly visit to The Old Bank York all the more better. Max’s aura is nigh-omnipresent and my pub experience would not be the same without him. The sharp, succinct and supremely effective service of Jodie and Jess respectively only served to accentuate this experience and further mythologise my experience at this centurion of a pub. Max is truly a sight to behold, his pulchritudinous features have truly illuminated my night and healed my marriage with my wife. I will be visiting again

Ordered a coke on the app. The glass was completely full of ice and a very small amount of coke. As if I could have some more coke added to my drink as I had finished it in a few minutes. The lady behind the bar was very uninterested in my disappointment and wasn’t bothered and said I’d have to pay for another coke and just have less ice. Unbelievable attitude. Very unprofessional attitude behind the bar.

Always have a great time at Old Bank, service is quick and the beer garden is massive! The staff are also great and Max especially is super friendly and accommodating, always going above and beyond. Definitely worth a visit!!

The place itself is great. What really annoyed me was getting IDd 5 times by the same person. How do you realise I'd been served when I've been in front of the bar for 4 hours.

Loved this place, decent selection of food and drinks and a great hidden beer garden downstairs! (If I hadn't gone to the toilet I wouldn't have known it was there). Friendly staff and a couple of pool tables too but I can't believe it's now £1.50 a game... :D

The Old Bank in York is an utter disappointment. While the decor might fool you with its charm, the experience quickly goes downhill. We were lied to about the availability of gammon by an incompetent waiter, and instead, we got disgusting, grease-soaked fish and chips. The pub is filthy, with revoltingly sticky floors that scream neglect and poor hygiene. And to add insult to injury, the waitress was shockingly rude and insincere, making us feel completely unwelcome. Avoid The Old Bank at all costs. It's a disgrace to the concept of a family-friendly pub.

Great place...2pool tables and decent beer garden

Awesome place to chill out and shoot some pool and have a good time also a great bar with great service too (max is awesome) shame there is one bouncer that seems to think he owns the place but avoid him and get a game going

Absolutely shocking service..17/7/2024 time for cctv about 10.30am Young woman to busy gossiping to only two people in the place to take our order Asked twice if they was open.. "Yeah" Walked around to try and get served elsewhere not even an acknowledgement or any sign of polite service e... No wonder it was empty. In a busy place like York. Problem here.. Staff 17

Good food. 2 for 1 on cocktails. They have an app to order food with but the way it works means you don't get the discounts so need to to to the bar. Lots of seats.

Wide wheelchair entrance, mostly on the level inside. Different designs of. Wooden floors throughout. Quite spacious, nice tables and chairs but a mix match. Usual tap beers and a few real ales available. Quite light and airy. A few TVs on the walls showing sport. Staff were friendly and polite. Families welcome. Beer was good. Enjoyed my visit.

Staying in York for a month and had to come back to this same bar. At first i was served by amelia who made the visit so welcoming and because of her my friends and i had to come back. The atmosphere is amazing and so inviting. Definitely recommend

I recently visited The Old Bank and had an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was warm and electric.. The bar staff, especially Abby and Amelia, were phenomenal. Abby greeted me with an infectious smile and gave outstanding service. . Pub was busy and yet the atmosphere remained inviting and the service was impeccable. Making everyone feel welcome and thoroughly cared for, Abby and Amelia continued to shine. I would say that The Old Bank is a must-visit for anyone seeking a remarkable night out with stellar service and an extraordinary atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Always come here for a wind down after work, never anything wrong with this place. The perfect spot for a chill and good time. Always my go to. Constantly recommend this place when others ask where to go for a drink :) 100/10

Had a great meal at Old Bank. Our waitress G was very welcoming and gave us excellent service.

Food was delicious! G was a great waitress, really fun and easy to speak to and had great knowledge of the current menu.

Came in for a drink, to watch the football. Drinks good value. Served by Gee who was very pleasant and helpful. There was a delay in getting the drinks and Gee was most apologetic and helpful. Good atmosphere.

This was my first time coming here and the general place was good but some of the staff looked like they’d rather be eating dirt than working, I was excited for the food there and me and my friends ordered quite a bit but we was quickly disappointed when it arrived, it was like eating something so dull and small you just couldn’t enjoy it, it was gone in two bites, some of the nachos were soggy like they were sat outside in the rain for hours and that was when they were bought straight out as-well, all the portions were tiny like it’s made for a child, how hard is it to put some cheese on nachos, there were no cheese! The burgers were fine but will definitely not be going back, don’t go if your looking for a place to eat!

UNACCEPTABLE RACISM FROM STAFF the blatant racism from the staff of this pub is absolutely disgusting, they have shamelessly caused a scene yelling out racist obscenities at international students. Shame on all of you, a complete disgrace. DO NOT VISIT.

Security was racist to us - threatened to poke my friend’s eye just because he is Arab. The security guy was treating my friend fine until he pulled his ID. It’s my first time experiencing such behaviour in York which is very unacceptable. The Old Bank should make sure such people are not employed there as it’s a place for people to enjoy their time and not experience racism.

I am an Arab, that had his id the security guard literally told me go away and he was eating while he is in his shift tonight and I was very friendly telling him please let me and my English friend in and I had my id and I am 23 years old. He literally told me go away before I take your eyes out with this spoon (that he was eating with) he and the other guard . I have never experienced this kind of racism. And both guards wanted to hit me with no reason whatsoever. And btw my family is in the Egyptian parliament and I’m not letting this go. I had every requirement to go in and I was treated miserably. That was pure racism ,very very pure. I have contacted the government and I’m gonna do my case and I’m not letting this go. Please support my situation by not going there, I’m a student in university of york and I was very happy on that day but it got ruined by them. And I keep questioning myself why would someone get treated that way what so ever is it because I am Arabian. Btw they had all the respect for me before they knew and all of this happend because I was defending my English friend.

Very good pub. Well worth a visit when in York

I came into the pub to watch the England Euros last week and wanted to leave my feedback. A young lady with short pink hair and glasses in a long skirt (we sadly didnt get her name) served me and my friends all night and she was a delight! It was incredibly busy and the poor girl was clearly rushed off her feet but she was nonetheless happy and helpful, for how busy it was we didn't have to wait particularly long for our drinks, we had expected we would have had a bit of a wait as we were ordering on the app due to the bar being so busy but we were very impressed. we also witnessed an altercation between some drunk gentlemen and this young lady and she handled it outstandingly despite getting drinks poured all over her during the altercation and having numerous men shouting abuse at her, she carried on with her job and had bouncers downstairs promptly to handle the situation and apologised to tables around for the inconvenience on their evening, which I personally think was going above and beyond as the fault was evidently not hers. I myself have worked in hospitality for years and understand how stressful big events like the Euros can be and just wanted to pass on my feedback as I was so impressed with this lady, such a shame we didn't get her name, but we will definetly be back again soon!!

We came to the Old Bank last night, it was a lovely atmosphere and despite the staff being swept off their feet they were all really kind and helpful. The reason for it not to be 5 stars is we went with our blind friend (M) and the disabled toilets were out of order, which is a bit ridiculous as the next available toilets were all the way downstairs and as they are Male toilets, no one we were with could help him find his way in. A lovely staff member did check in a couple of times but this should not have happened as the Disabled toilets should be in working order especially in such a big establishment.

Don't know about the food but drinks where really nice and refreshing 😁.

I came in here today and was served by Pharrell and was very satisfied! He was super friendly and helped me choose an gin that I liked because I didn't know what I wanted when I came in haha. Really nice place!! Will definitely come back on my next visit to York x

Much bigger than you think inside! Young clientele inside, so if you're looking for a quiet drink, this might not be the joint for you! Average prices though. Again, great outdoor area out the back!

Popped in for lunch with my daughter. We were greated my delightful staff. Sophie was brilliant!! Nothing was a problem they even made sure the bacon on my burger was crispy 😀, because of this we decided to pop back in later in the night. The cocktails were lovely. Kyle was brilliant making sure the table was cleaned and cleared of glasses for us. Really couldn't ask for more. I will definitely visit again.

We booked a table for a sports game 2 weeks in advance and showed up at the booked time to be told that the table had been given away. They then proceeded to kick another group off their table to make space for us causing awkwardness in the bar.

Great place to chill in the evening

In York on a break from Scotland. Turned up for a few drinks and have just been Turned away because apparently my partner had joggers on. He had plan black trousers on no logo. Clearly very discriminating as the bouncer on the door with the huge ego couldn't see past the fact we were Scottish it was clear this was the reason we were Turned away. Such a shame as all the bars we've been to have been great and welcoming. Shame on you for not being inviting. I watched let young woman in wearing bootleg joggers but that was absolutely fine.

Very nice atmosphere friendly staff good food

Had a stag do in York yesterday – nothing wild, just a group of well-behaved blokes enjoying the city. Everything was brilliant until we walked into The Old Bank. The bouncer refused entry to one of our party for wearing smart chino shorts, claiming they were "sports shorts". Clearly on a power trip, this bouncer's ridiculous decision split our group for no reason. Completely unnecessary and ruined the evening for us. The Old Bank needs to sort their staff out – no place for this kind of daft behaviour. Avoid if you want a hassle-free night out.

Arrogant door staff. Booked a table for a few friends to watch the boxing. 9:00pm . Door staff refused entry as in their opinion one member of our party was drunk. ( the one who had only had one drink as he arrived late. ) None of us were drunk or loud but obviously they didn’t like the look of us. Sad the poor door staff can tarnish a venue’s reputation. We will take our business elsewhere in the future. Hope fully we will get our table deposit back. On the bright side it’s been nearly 30 years since I was stopped entering a pub. Obviously the rebel in me is still there. Who knows I might get asked for my ID next time.

Hugely appreciate that it can be intimidating serving a large group, but to only serve half the group before deciding that you weren’t going to serve the rest is ridiculous. Your bar staff caused a scene tonight for no reason, and picked out one group member wasn’t going to be served (even though the apparent issue was with someone else). Our friend was gutted by the way he was spoken to, and retaliated in a rude manner back. That was uncalled for on their behalf and they later apologised to the door staff after the event, but feel like the staff could have handled the situation a whole lot better. After the door staff took pictures of us to get us on ‘pub watch’ we got in the next pub we tried. The door staff told us we had been reported and didn’t see what the issue was with any of us and let us in. We actually started off our day here and usually really like the venue, hence deciding to come back later in the day to watch the football.

Super friendly and attentive staff, particularly G who looked after us all night. Warm and friendly atmosphere. 10/10

Great for drinks - not too expensive as far as York goes. Love the new beanbags in the beer garden. Our server Gee was amazing - super friendly. If management reads this, please let them know they are great!
