Fun place. Nice people. Good food. Enjoyed it here.

Could half the meals and it would still be enough. Never noticed if they do smaller portions

I really enjoyed my meal at the anchor inn. Popped in early in the year to try but was busy so came back a second time today. Met be very friendly staff. I took observations of the locals and how busy it was a 5:30 pm on a Thursday. I can see why. Great food. Although I didn't take a picture of it. It was consumed within a matter of minutes. Haddock, chips and salad. All fresh and very tasty. Do you self a favour. Forget the weather spoons across the road. Too easy to go in there. Come to the anchor and have fresh food and friendly service. All in all. I really enjoyed my food and visit. Staff took order quickly offered to open a tab. Took my small dietary requirement into consideration and it was promptly delivered fresh and quickly cleared away. The pub experience I've been looking for. Give the anchor a go.

We waited 55 minutes for food, server with a short bob was very rude, intimidating and kept referring to us as ‘hun’ when my partner was asking if anything would be taken off the bill. Very unprofessional. The family have been coming to this pub for 30+ years and my god it’s gone downhill. We will not be returning and will make it known how rude, unprofessional and passive aggressive their staff are

I visited this place with friends, it was recommended to me and we travelled from Perth. Was more than worth it, it was our intention to have dinner in Forgan’s and do a pub crawl but the atmosphere in here was that good along with the excellent bar staff made us come back here after dinner. Even the bouncers on the door were great craic along with a great bunch of punters. Will defo return and will try out the food next time too

Fantastic food and great staff and service. Excellent for either a family get-together or a night out with friends. Recent renovations have freshened-up the Anchor and now it's even better!

Great Thursday evening in The Anchor Bar for food and karaoke with 6 friends, who I had been on a golf outing with. Many thanks to all the barstaff for looking after us and to all the very good singers who performed on the night.Look forward to returning some time.

Brilliant service on a weekend evening from very friendly staff, excellent fresh food and best scampi ever. Black pudding starters delicious but absolutely huge! Food is so good, it's a pity there's not more of a dedicated area where's it's less noisy and shouty than the crazy loud bar. We couldn't have a conversation with granny for the noise of raucous, shouting and swearing. Not great for children to hear either. Suggest avoiding peak drinking hours. Shout out for the chefs though, great job!

Tried the Anchor today for lunch staff very friendly and attentive.my wife had the macaroni and chips which she thought was very good. I had steak pie potatoes and veg. Steak pie was to die for plenty of meat and lovely gravy.ten out of ten.would strongly recommend the food here

Booked for lunch for 3. Very friendly welcome from blonde lady. Seated and drinks order taken, again very friendly young waiter. Food ordered. 2 battered fish and chips burger with black pudding, all food freshly prepared and was delicious. Friendly atmosphere inside, busy outside as a luvly sunny day, will be back. Highly recommend a visit here :):)

First time here not booked but the staff went out there way to accommodate us the staff where very well presented and polite and very very helpful. The food was very good I had the breaded fish 2 pieces and the wife had the steak melt which she said was delicious first time certainly won’t be the last.

I was recommended The Anchor for it's good homecooked food so went along with a friend.The bar is old traditional style not new attempting to look old . I'm sure I visited it years ago for a drink.We ordered food and drink and were swifly served our soft drinks.We were finished them by the time our food was served to us 30 minutes later. We actually thought we had been forgotten. The food was pilled high on medium sized plates. The beef steak in the steak pie was delicious .As was my friends macaroni. We would had ordered another drink but no waiting staff came near us until we asked for the bill.Not saying they were unfriendly to us but were not interested.The bar wasn't particularly busy so no excuse for poor customer service. Maybe they were just complacent and set in their ways .Unlike corporate staff who have targets to meet.No or little sign of hand sanitisers or Covid aware in the bar either.As I had been informed the food was good but service a letdown.

Went to The Anchor for a late lunch after a wee bit of Christmas shopping. We hadn't booked but they found us a table. Social distancing was done very well. I had only ever visited the Anchor before for a drink.The food we had was very good, very tasty. Service was also very good and we will definitely go back again.

Bog standard pub grub? Not here! We both had the legendary pepper steak cheese melt and it was one of the best pub meals we have ever had, we'll be back for sure.

Today I called in for a coffee and quick bite. Covid prevention in full force and the vegetable soup was tremendous. Not normally my favourite soup but I thoroughly enjoyed it, very tasty.

Always stellar food and especially spectacular service at the Anchor, the chicken and bacon salad is not to be missed! Extremely varied menu made it hard to choose between all the great options on offer!

Pulgares hacia arriba. . . Ayer, mi amigo y yo pedimos 1 ensalada de pollo coronación y 1 x macarrones con papas fritas, no nos decepcionó. Las raciones eran abundantes y la comida era muy sabrosa. El personal fue atento (servicio de mesa) y las medidas de prevención de Covid nos hicieron sentir aún más seguros y relajados. . . Nos quedamos a tomar un café con leche y una taza de té, servidos con deliciosos bizcochos envueltos individualmente (no pueden servir el famoso bizcocho de mantequilla en este momento debido a las restricciones actuales). Disfrutamos el cambio de todos modos.

So confused reading below reviews about the 'worst ever mac and cheese'. Myself and family/friends have been coming to this establishment for years and think it's the best ever! I reckon this place has the best pub food in the Ferry. All social distancing measures in place for Covid regulations made for a safe and pleasant visit. Will be back soon!

Went here on Saturday night for a family meal as we were staying near by for the weekend food and service was exellent and they went the extra mile to keep us feeling safe throughout the covid situation

I'm glad to call The Anchor my local , outstanding tasty food with great sized portions . They now have also started doing a daily special The staff are extremely helpful and polite Dj on at weekends , with friendly atmosphere Can honestly say I've never been disappointed with my food from The Anchor Keep up the great work guys

Todo lo que te imaginas y puedes esperar de un Pub lo tiene, los grandes platos de Pub muy bien servidos y presentados. Los Jueves noche tienen Karaoke, el cual merece la pena acercarse a disfrutrar y ver el ambiente de buen rollo que se forma. El sitio esta muy limpio, el personal muy atento y el precio el normal de un pub, muy recomendable

El queso macarrones en este pub es realmente horrible. Está hecho con mozzarella y queso cheddar suave y barato que da como resultado una salsa cremosa, no cursi y repugnante. Es asqueroso y debe evitarse a toda costa. Una vez dicho esto, los camareros son geniales y es una lástima el mac cheese

I think the Anchor may be my favourite place to eat in Dundee. Absolutely love a chicken hot pot from here!

Had an enjoyable evening of drinks in The Anchor, lucky to get seats not long after getting in and stayed a few hours.DJ was playing music quite loud but selections were very much our vintage so thoroughly enjoyed albeit we struggled to chat.Found just about as much fun from people watching on a busy Saturday night as all came and went over the evening.Enjoyable evening.

We had lunch at the Anchor. The service was really good. My chicken curry was good, but there could have been more lean chicken. My husband had beef stroganoff which was excellent.

We booked a table in advance as we had heard that it could be very busy at lunchtime. We were sat at a nice corner table and the waitress was very attentive. The food was excellent and there was a good helping of each meal. The actual building could do with an upgrade as the furniture is very tired looking. Gents toilet was very small and not too clean, the Ladies was clean and tidy although this was small as well. All in it was a pleasant experience and very enjoyable day.

Wait staff friendly and helpful. This pub has excellent delicious food as well as typical pub drinks and food. We walked here from our B & B and enjoyed the area which is very close to the beach and the water.

J’avais pris un steak jai eu des émincés baignant dans la sauce et le cheddar (surprenant mais bon) et l’autre personne un burger (steak belge), les 2 plats en ration conséquente. Le cadre est sympa et spacieux

Been coming here for years and tried most of the menu and can say everything is fantastic. Favourites have to be a korma (will also do half chips and half rice), lasagne, steak pie and fish and chips.

I had my favourite chicken and bacon salad again today and have to say it was just perfect. Chicken cooked to perfection and the bacon crispy, as requested. The side of coleslaw was the perfect, indulgent accompaniment to my “not so light” lunch. A nice pot of tea to wash it down, and some melt in the mouth shortbread just finished it off perfectly.

Came to the anchor with my partner yesterday for some simple and delicious food. And that's exactly what we got, couldn't fault anything, both of us had the steak pie for our mains, my partner had sticky toffee for her dessert and I had the fudge sunday. Friendly staff, tasty food and drink, and a lovely pub atmosphere. What more can you ask for?

I’ve been to the Anchor a couple of times over the years but was blown away today with their seafood pasta. It was 10/10. I was a bit unsure of ordering it as I didn’t think it would be as good as the other seafood pasta’s you get in Italian restaurants, but it was just as good, if not better. My partner had the Highland chicken and it was sublime.

Once again, The Anchor delivers. Now, although I wouldn't class myself as a regular here, it is a place we make a point of visiting when in Broughty Ferry, last night we were there for my wife's birthday treat.

This place was recommended by the landlady at guest house. We were warned it may be busy which it was, because Broughty Ferry started its week long gala (games etc for all family and parents out at night for drinks in pub).

Después de caminar un poco por la ciudad, decidimos parar aquí para almorzar alrededor del mediodía. Aunque la parte delantera estaba solo medio llena con clientes, había signos "RESERVADOS" en las mesas abiertas. Nos acercamos a una mesa y observamos más de cerca el cartel que decía que estaba reservado para la 1 de la tarde y que estábamos dispuestos a usar la mesa antes de esa hora, así que lo hicimos. Compartimos una sopa del día y luego cada uno comió un sándwich de pollo, ambos muy sabrosos. El servicio fue un poco lento, pero no teníamos prisa.

We arrived on a busy Friday night, the staff were very friendly and we were served quickly. We opted for starters which my daughter and I shared. Yummy. Main courses were amazing, I ordered the beef stroganoff which was a large portion, my husband and daughter tried it and thought the same delicious. The steak pie and curries looked great. we would recommend the food and hope to be back very soon.

Al entrar fue recibido con un cordial saludo. Una vez sentado, el personal vino a la mesa para preguntar qué bebidas queríamos y nos dio mucho tiempo para pedir comida. Esperamos un poco de tiempo para la comida, esto era algo bueno, ya que la comida de los shows estaba recién hecha, no como algunos pubs. Las comidas que tuvimos fueron muy agradables y abundantes. Al salir pregunté si todo estaba bien y para disfrutar del resto de la tarde. Recomiendo encarecidamente este pub.

After trailing around which seemed the whole of Scotland for somewhere that was dog friendly we happened on The anchor.

Visited with my 4 year old grandson for lunch. We both had macaroni which was ok. The service was good. They still use plastic straws with drinks though and I really wish establishments like this would take the step to stop using single use plastic.

He estado aquí por comida muchas veces a lo largo de los años y nunca me ha decepcionado. Hay una buena selección de comida en el menú, pero siempre voy por la opción de ensalada, que recomiendo encarecidamente. El personal es siempre encantador y servicial, y el pub en sí está limpio y ordenado, con un ambiente agradable y agradable.

Enjoyed a lovely meal. Great service, friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Very popular. We were lucky to get a table as lots of reservations are made for lunches and evening dinners. Will know in future to reserve a table.

Had tea here the other night . Staff are so welcoming and always accommodating. Food excellent. We are never disappointed.

I have visited here two weeks in a row for lunch. I had the pepper steak melt the first week and the lasagne the second week. Both meals were amazing and big portions. My mum had the breaded fish and also said it was really good. Staff always nice and very friendly. Ensure you book though. Will be back soon.

The anchor never disappoints when it comes to food. Make sure to book! The macaroni cheese and hunters chicken are our favourites.
