Trades House Bar in Dundee City

What a lovely place. The decor is wonderful, and so is the food. We had a delicious meal and a bottle of wine, at a very reasonable price. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Shocked at prices here. Bottle of Sol and a vodka and can of iron bru £11.30. Almost double the price of my local. How can they justify this. Won't be back

Fantastic food and wine in a real Scottish atmosphere with no pretence! Squid delicious as was the scampi and Chardonnay!

Booking had been made but on arrival told no booking after some discussion table was available after couple had left. Atmosphere within the pub was good however, on trying to pay the bill was totally ignored by three barmen who went on to serve men in main bar only when said I want to pay my bill did I get attention from them saying we will bring it to you.

Very nice inside and great staff. My husband had a delicious steak pie. Really great flavor. I didn't like my chicken sandwich which was similar to a chicken salad sandwich with coleslaw on it. Not what I was expecting.

A place with soul, class and style. Friendly service, I had no problems with changing sides in the dish. My husband said the steak was a bit cold, but the whiskey sauce was amazing. I would highly recommend!

Beautiful atmosphere and climate.

This pub has a great atmosphere and is less than 5 minutes away from the station. I highly recommend you make it your first stop in Dundee. If you get the lentil you are in for a treat and the service you'll get from their server Sean will be top notch. My only complaint is that they didn't have honey for my hot toddy. ☺️ 10/10 Will visit again before my holiday is over.

Opens at 10 am for breakfast and coffee. Good selection on menu drinks served from 11am lunch menu from 12 noon. It's worth a visit. Extensive menu. Good place for a catch-up and large beer selction. Advantage you can book tables for meals or drinks

1st time in here. Busy, but pleasant atmosphere. Ordered a fish and chips. Was delicious. Also ordered fish goujon, Korean chicken. Very tasty. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Great customer service. Credit to them. Would recommend coming here

Proper pub....food is good and reasonable price.beers are great, always a first class pint.huge selection....staff are brilliant.always quick to serve you....toilets are spotless...central location . always go here when in Dundee (other pubs are available) keep up the good work 👍

This pub is amazing for meals. We will definitely be back. Our servers Paula and Sean were very fast, polite and efficient. I asked who the chef was because I thought the meals were tastier they said there is a new chef called Gloria. Lovely place to eat.

Great pub, we had a works night out and started in here as everyone can get someone to drink that they like. The staff are great and always happy to help you out with any thing, we didn’t eat this time but the food coming out looked amazing. If going out day drinking I love to start here as the breakfast has to be the best in Dundee. Football was on the tv and the sound for it was just perfect cau we were still able to hear each other. If you’re out and about drinking in Dundee you need to pop in and see this most amazing pub.

Can I just say,Sean and Paula were superb, we're very friendly couldn't do enough for you, the food is fantastic and will be back out of 10 I give the service and the food 12 out of 12 recommend the best in Dundee

In Dundee for an overnight stay and the first bar we came to was Trades House we decided we needed to start our day with some food so opted for 3 sharing dishes. Sticky chicken Halloumi & Squid. These were all delicious not what I expected from what looked like an old fashioned boozer. Our server Paula was fantastic so friendly and helpful she really made us feel welcome without being over the top a genuine star ⭐ Would definitely recommend this place top class

Didn't go on the Saturday it was very busy. Went on the Sunday nice pub good atmosphere. Not to busy nice pint of coors.

We popped in here for a couple of drinks on Friday evening 2nd February before heading back to our hotel. It was very busy but were served at the bar quickly, found a quiet table. We asked if they were serving food but we had unfortunately just missed the cut off for it. Couple of minutes later we were approached by a bouncer advising us we would have to leave. No reason given other than one of the bar staff had asked the bouncer to eject us. We were sat quietly talking, not shouting or laughing or bothering anyone. We had our drinks taken from us and we were out. No explanation, no reason, no idea why. I'm 46 and have never been asked to leave a bar in my life. I can only assume that strangers to Dundee are not welcome here, perhaps homophobic staff? Left a bitter taste to our overnight stay. Shame 😞 After replying to the email address no further contact has been received. We emailed the head office too and to no avail. Lip service only and they are not interested in looking into the matter.

Excellent, attentive and knowledgeable service with all dishes excellent but the Steak Pie being the best I have tasted in a long time; absolutely blows away the version you get in Greene King bars in England. Staff were always on the go and wait times were not long at all considering it was as busy at the time. Definitely be back!!

Amazing breakfast. Picture says it all. Enough for 2 with an extra bit toast. Great price. Friendly staff. Have been a number of times now and has been consistently good.

Went in last night as we had reserved a table online . Sean the guy serving said there was a problem and it should have been cancelled. I think he saw the disappointment and managed to get us a table despite it being very busy and the rugby was on . Meal was lovely. We waited a bit for our pudding so Sean gave us complimentary drinks. We will definitely visit here again . Service was excellent . Well done Sean !!

It was very busy but we were served at the bar quickly, found a quiet table and within 5 minutes we were approached by a bouncer advising us we had to leave. Anyway that was that we had our drinks taken off us and were thrown out. We are still lost as to why and what had happened. Maybe we were mistaken for some other couple?? No idea. We are a professional couple so we're not annoying anyone. I can only think strangers are not welcome here. Shame, left a bitter taste to our weekend away.

A vibrant pub that's usually busy, however, with several tvs & background music all playing at the same time, it becomes a cacophony of sound. It's quite noisy so if you like a quiet pub, this may not be the place for you. The drinks are reasonably priced & the staff are friendly. I didn't try the food. There are 2 separate dining areas away from the main drinking area. It's well worth a visit

Popped in for pre lunch drinks.. Place was very busy and buzzing.. Food envy when seeing food being served up. Would recommend a visit. Wee update a few years later.. 6 of us out for a wee pre xmas get together...staff could not be more helpful.. Drinks and food were great... The pub was busy and we 100 % enjoyed our day...wont leave it as long before we revisit..

Popped in for a few drinks after being out with the other half, got to be one of the best pubs in Dundee, always busy, staff are always great and you never need to wait to be served, big selection on drinks so always something for everyone, the other half says it’s the best pint of Tennents.

Meal not good frozen food 😩 drink expensive nearly £7 00 for gin and tonic won't be back

,A terrible experience, very rude and balshy bar woman to say the least, would really not recommend a visit, she was so awful I finished my drink in the door way outside, food prices did not justify the meals being served also

Garlic king prawns were delicious, we also had battered haddock, crispy squid chips and garlic bread- very good. Service was excellent! ❤️ from Canada! A def must go!!!

Only five minutes walk from Dundee Railway Station in the city centre this was a good place to spend the afternoon having lunch and a catch up with old pals. Food and service were excellent, so no complaints at all.

Just stopped in for a couple drinks on our first night in Dundee. Great interior, friendly welcome, lovely atmosphere and a large selection of beers. My photo does not do it justice, it's well worth a visit, we'll certainly be back!

Very popular venue. Always a mixed crowd, some as all day customers and some stopping in on the passing. Decor shows off all Dundee's, many now long gone "trades", hence the name. Food is always good and staff are friendly. Plenty of sports to watch on the large TV screens positioned. Toilet facilities, well the ladies anyway, haven't seen the gents, are always clean and bright.

Amazing freezing cold Peroni...great atmosphere and brilliant Gins listed.

Food was really good for a reasonable price. Service was excellent. It was a bit on the noisy side but it was 6pm and the pub was fairly busy. All in all a good experience.

This is a good pub for food and a wide range of beers.Can get noisy when a big game is on. 25th August 2023 Update not as good as it was when Blair and Gerry were owners. Some staff are a waste of space and more interested in talking to each other than taking care of customers. Two barmen wrapping cutlery when there was a que at the bar,cans of coke, etc, were always opened for you now just sat on the bar nonchalantly. The windows inside and outside need to be cleaned. A great pub going downhill.

Nice pub, that had a nice level of buzz, even though it was a Thursday night. A decent selection of beverages, better than I had perhaps expected before entering. The interior was a delight for the eyes too.

Always been a popular venue and the staff are great. Menu has really improved and a good venue for a snack lunch or a full afternoon tea

Rude and aggressive behaviour by multiple staff but particularly the manager when politely asked if we could be served, somehow took this completely the wrong way and stated we could get a drink somewhere else followed by a long staring competition.just what me and the wife asked for on a Tuesday afternoon.
