This was booked for a family meal for my mothers birthday. Firstly, the location of the table was right in front of a large flat screen TV, which did not create a nice ambience for those facing it. It took a long time to get our drinks, and an equally long time to get the bottles of wine opened. When I asked the waiter to open them, his response was ‘oh, you expect me to do that’ And then there was the food ordering process. Our starters took ages to arrive, and there was a good hour between starters and main. My daughter ordered from the kids menu only to be told that there was no mac and cheese. She ended up only having a small portion of chips, which again she had to wait ages for. The whole place needs to understand how important attention to detail is. incredibly disappointing

Went for afternoon tea. First off the two ladies leaving as we arrived said it was "awful". We met our friends inside and they told us we may not want to sit down. They pointed out all four glasses were filthy and the tea cups all had lipstick stains. We decided to leave and when we spoke to the woman on reception and gave her our complaints she only said "fine"; no apology. She couldn't care less. I believe this place is up for sale.....hope the new owners have higher standards.

Great little hotel in the west end. Short walk to cafes and bars. Decor is a little dated and tired but all is clean. Customer service was great with polite staff. Dinner was good quality and enough choices. Overall positive for a couple trip where you want it quiet to relax, minus the odd plane noise from the airport.

My husband has given the hotel time to contact him but after a few weeks there has not been any promised contact. We visited on 2 occasions over a few weeks as we had previously been for dinner in the past and enjoyed it. The first occasion we had issues was for my birthday in February where we had a table for 12 people. The menu on the website was not the menu handed over to us and even between us all there were different variations. A lot of the items on the menu were not being served and this included a lot of the cuts of steak and the desserts. Food was delicious but service wasn’t very attentive and we had to keep going to the bar to get our own drinks. When we booked we were asked if it was for a special occasion and we did state it was for a birthday, yet nothing was done to acknowledge this. Despite all of this we paid the almost £400 bill and decided to return for Mother’s Day thinking it was just a blip. We turned up 10 minutes early for our 4pm reservation, yet weren’t seated until about 4.20pm. We ordered our drinks before 4pm but these didn’t appear until 4.30pm. Again, we had issues with menus not matching and there were no starters I could eat, or so I thought, I asked what the soup was and was told there was none. It turned out someone else at another table had ordered the mushrooms on toast which I would have ordered but that wasn’t anywhere on any of our menus. The children’s menu wasn’t on any of our menus either and we only found out they were serving the children’s menu after I asked for a burger for my son and the server replied to ask if it was the children’s burger we wanted. We then ordered our food which did not arrive until 5pm. At 5.20pm we had to call someone over to clear the table and ask for dessert menus but after 10/15 minutes they had not returned to take our order so we walked out of the dining room and paid our bill. The food was delicious but the service was appalling. Two tables that were seated and orders taken after us were served first, we weren’t asked for any more drinks orders, the table behind us sat with dirty plates and glasses on it for over an hour after the guests had left. When paying my husband explained to the person he was paying about the service being poor. Baring in mind in the space of 3 weeks we had now spent upwards of £500 eating at their restaurant and neither visit was great. We received a discount off our bill which was a lovely gesture but the man serving my husband had double checked my husbands phone number and advised he would call the next day to discuss the issues. This has not happened. It has been 2 weeks and nobody from Taypark has reached out to my husband. The service really lets the restaurant down as the food is delicious. The menu discrepancies are frustrating and would be a quick fix. I doubt we will return to Taypark again unless these simple things are sorted as it is very off putting to spend 2 hours in a restaurant to only receive one drink and one course of food. Taypark really needs to do better with their service and if they promise to contact a customer they need to follow through with this. Just because you have given a discount does not excuse bad service and my husband would have liked the opportunity to discuss this and I would have given a better review but alas that has not happened.

Went for breakfast March 2024. Terrible. Full breakfast is very small and comparable to weatherspoons. Pancakes were served soggy ( mixed in with a berry and cream mess ) it looked like a child had vomited on the plate. The table was booked for 2 hours and we were asked 1 hr 20 mins in to give the table back which is extremely poor considering the entire restaurant was empty. Being asked to leave would have been issue had we not been keen to leave and forget we ever decided to go out for breakfast.

My husband's lunch from the Set Menu was ok, however, my Steak & Stout pie from Grill Menu had soggy puff pastry and tasted slightly bland. I then had the Hot Chocolate Fondant pudding and, not only was the shape like a tree, it was dense, there was no goo in the middle and it cost £10:50 !!! Not only that, they tried to overcharge us by not including our £50 voucher and added in my husband's desert which was already included in the Set Menu price!! We will not be returning and I will not be recommending to family or friends either.

Very nice lunch for 7 adults and 2 children. Beautiful Victorian sandstone house off Perth Road with views out over the river Tay. What can I say biggest disappointment I've had, on arrival we were sat down at a table that was over cluttered, we were told that there was nothing available on the Sunday roast menu which was alot and given very limited choice, we all decided on a steak and the kids chose a burger. We were served our drinks and the men had pints placed down all lopsided tilted on things and then the poor waitress fell and tipped a whole glass of cola on my daughter and her iPad (didn't want to make the girl feel worse than she did and she was very apologetic) no harm done but then we were served our steaks at diff times...no steak knives...I had to ask for them and the girl was a bit short saying "yeah they r coming "..by this point our very scarce looking mushrooms were freezing, the plate came with a few chopped mushrooms and a tomato with steak and separate chunky chips which were solid! kids received their burgers much later than our food and I was shocked at the burger size inside the huge bun..it was the same circumference as an Oreo biscuit...their chips were also solid and burnt on the outside. My kids were starving. I then started to eat my steak which was meant to be medium...it was completely full of fat and it was raw and I couldn't even cut it ..I complained about it and I never complain and the gentleman said "sorry about that...do you want a dessert and we can look at the steak situation" in other words we can deduct the steak if you get a dessert, we were so angry at that point we asked for the bill...no deductions or anything...£110 for a meal that just contained main course that left us all hungry and disappointed for my mother's day meal, they also dimmed the lights and we couldn't see a thing while eating (prob to disguise the disastrous food)...we ended up going to McDonald's on the way home. I've been before and it was lovely...won't ever return.

Went here for mother's day front of house staff were very nice but I don't know who they have in the kitchen worst steak I've ever had was cooked through well done to the middle, and raw the rest of the way as if the chef left it on the grill for one side for too long 28 pound for a piece of beef that tasted like it was straight out the Tesco value isle, chips were hard and the bernaise didn't seem like it was made with any tarragon in it at all.

Visited Taypark once previously, when it first opened. I can't remember what was wrong, but I remember my meal was inedible. Seduced by a ITISON voucher, we decided to give Brunch a go. Lovely setting, good service... The Husband said his full cooked was average. I had eggs Benedict, with a very mouldy muffin. I find it hard to believe chef didn't notice. They did replace the meal, but still took the voucher. To be honest I'm not sure I mind..I'm not convinced I'd like to go back and see if we can make it third time, lucky

We had afternoon tea at the Taypark hotel, too say that we were disappointed is a understatement, we were welcomed by the staff and shown to our table the decor in the dining room was very tired, the pot of tea arrived no choice and it was tea bags, about 15 minutes later the afternoon tea arrived it look ok, but as we started the sausage rolls were cold, the scones were soggy in the middle in hindsight I think they were microwaved, the homemade jam was thick and sliceable never seen a home in its life, the sandwiches were not bad but lacked imagination, and lastly the cakes two out of six were not bad the rest two were dry as a stick and the other two were so soft it was like eating glue, as we left there was no staff to be found so I emailed the hotel to complain and I'm still waiting for a reply.

This was the first time that my friend and I had been, sad to say but the quality of the food means we wouldn't be back. Fair enough it was an itison voucher but still at £35 (normal cost without voucher £45) I definitely would not have paid £35. Sad soggy tiny sandwiches and the turkey cranberry rolls were soo dry and turkey was over cooked. On arrival we were left standing for about 5 minutes which wasn't a problem as the polite waitress said she wouldn't be long but to have then a management member coming out the bar area looking at us and walking back in bar leaving us to wait, really I do think that he could have spoken or seated us. We only got the option of tea or coffee we chose tea and as per the website thought we would get a choice but no just a large pot of tetley was brought to the table. Just all round a very disappointing birthday afternoon tea. Won't be back.

If cleanliness is your thing, this is not the hotel for you! Beautiful old building but every corner of the common areas were filthy and not just from a recent wedding. Our room seemed pretty clean, however, there was black mold in the shower and sink. Easily taken care of but someone was not paying attention. Although very kind young women at the front desk, they were unable to answer a single question we had of the area. I emailed the hotel directly as they did ask us for a review. I gave them my sentiments but I guess they didn't feel it necessary to reply. The carpeting was so heavily stained, dust everywhere and litter all over the property. Unacceptable in my opinion.

I came here this year for a birthday, the glass dome costs £60 to sit inside it, they have these fairy lights inside which are very nice, but when you walk past them u can get tangled in it a bit and my hair was caught in the fairy lights it was quite annoying, there was 7 of us and it was quite tight for us, I would suggest to this company to buy larger glass domes for bigger parties, the food took forever to come, it was also cold when we were inside, I had to wear my furr coat the whole time and me as well as 4 other people got steaks, theses were GOD AWFUL, we all asked for medium rare and we got WELLDONE, I swear it was cooked over WELLDONE if that’s possible, I would have given it 1 star although the view and scenery of this place was very nice, it’s very old money and I suggest to not sit outside, rather inside is much nicer and more classy

Took advantage of the Itison Tasting Menu Offer and we were very pleasantly surprised by how good it was! With a well priced bottle of Malbec, what could be better? We were looked after, mainly by one of the long serving and experienced Waiters, but despite this, albeit, on a quiet Tuesday Evening, something was missing from the overall experience. This is a beautiful old mansion house where clearly significant amounts were laid out on its repurposing from a Dundee University Office Property. Sadly, it is beginning to look rather tired, with the ambitious outdoor Gin Bar and the Pods, seemingly underused, just adding to the air of neglect. Previous comments about the tired interior are accurate, and we were particularly concerned by the state of some of the soiled white interior doors, leading to the Dining Room and Rest Rooms. Due only to the quality of the Tasting Menus offering, we will possibly return, hopefully to a better turned out establishment. Clearly there are missed opportunities here, as the location of this Hotel and Restaurant, overlooking the River Tay, is shared with a much busier Hotel, just a short walk away.

We stayed at Taypark for a friends wedding held at the hotel. We were 2 adults and 2 children and had a great time. Firstly, the service couldn't be faulted. The staff were great, especially with the children and if anything was up, quickly rolled up sleeves and sorted it out. The food was good (although breakfast was lacking tatty scones and black pudding...) and there were lovely touches like Beanos available for the kids. The play house and tree were well used by our boys and friends children. We had a family room without a river view and the layout was great - super spacious and a huge bathroom with a massive bath that the boys said was a pool! The stables was amazing and compete with a beer tap. What let the hotel down was attention to detail and a general care worn atmosphere. The main staircase carpet looked like it had either seen action in a major theatre of war or had been used to soften the hooves of stampeding deer that were very nervous. Grim doesn't come close to describing it. In our room there was half used complementary shampoo, a door handle that had one of 3 screws functioning and we found discarded used false nails on the floor. Walking up to the stables we went past a shipping container with a pile of rubbish next to it which really detracted from the fairy tale atmosphere. We had scones post nuptials and the clotted cream was left under heat lamps so it became cream soup. It's these tiny bits of lack of focus that takes it from a 5 star review to 4 star, or from great to kind of alright.

We did the 5 courses with a voucher and although we had a lovely time the food wasn't perfect. Started well with mushrooms on toast (not sure they were foraged though!) And then the crumb with pickled onion seemed to show up on every dish from then on...we loved the scallop, perhaps without the capers (the crumb and pickles provide the salt and sharp well enough) the sauce with the leek cake was too acidic (again the pickled onion provides enough sharpness) and I just kinda wished it were a fish cake!..the beef was a slightly bland thankfully we had our crumb and pickled onion to cheer it all up. Thankfully it didn't appear on dessert but sadly the honeycomb was burnt and tasted like like carbon. So not quite perfect but a lovely experience. 😊

We enjoyed our stay in this small hotel- we were not thrilled to find we were very close to the airport with quite loud flights going into the evening (9pm with us having small children). We were also here during a wedding, which we understand comes with a level of noise and chaos, but it felt the venue and team still hadn’t recovered from it even a couple of days after the wedding had passed- garbage on the grounds, beer bottles on the playground, and broken glass at the playground. We went for an afternoon tea. On the arrival I asked for some water, when I should be offered, we got tea without milk and no teaspoons at table. We asked for the server first an old guy that never brought it, so we asked again, this time have to the only staff on the floor a girl, for water, milk and teaspoons she was not happy with our requests, she rolled her eyes and snort, she came back to bring the food and prior to it we asked to one of the afternoon to be boxed, but she brought to table the fourth anyway, she snort again when we asked for the box, she brought box which didn’t close, so all the food got dried. We asked for a second high chair and she snort again. We weren’t ask in any moment if everything was ok. If the requests were out of this world I could be understand we were demanding but wasn’t the case, ask for milk, water and teaspoons, are you serious? Before leaving a complaint here which I normally don’t do, my friend decided to complain with the manager, which was a mistake because instead of agreeing with us that the service was poor and try to be nice with us, he made excuses saying that the server must be joking. What?! We weren’t joking with her and she didn’t look funny in any way, if wasn’t enough he said that sounds a weird because she is the best staff they have it. Beautifully located and decorated hotel overlooking the Tay. We had a fabulous room upgrade, which we appreciated. The staff were pleasant and helpful, with one exception being the slightly surly chap who served us breakfast our last morning. However they all need better training, as we had to repeatedly ask for straightforward things such as menus, plates for toast, a second tea bag for an enormous teapot etc. Sounds minor but it was a constant theme throughout our stay and irritating. Food and drink was a real all or nothing. Some aspects were excellent eg taste and presentation of cooked breakfast, a beautifully cooked steak and very tasty, generous fish cake. However other things were poor such as cold porridge, measly scallops starter and a minute portion of chips to accompany the steak. The gin bar had a surprisingly fairly limited list of gins, with the first two we asked for not in stock! When our third choice arrived, it was served in a poor quality tall glass too big for the drink, although it tasted fine. Again sounds minor but if you’re going to promote a gin bar, do it properly. Overall we’d probably consider staying again, but it needs to pull up its socks so that service and delivery matches the high end surroundings.

Visited Taypark House with three friends for lunch. This is one of our favourite places to eat. Sadly not this time. We were seated at a lovely window overlooking the Tay. That was the only good part of our lunchtime. When seated we were advised there were no burgers and no steak pie. We all ordered the chip shop fish and chips. This was served on a board with mushy peas and tartare sauce. The fish was over cooked in layers of batter and lukewarm. The actual fillet of fish was almost hidden by the amount of batter. When I pointed this out to the waiter he reported this to the kitchen. We were told that the chef replied that they had changed suppliers. We all ordered the same dessert but was told this was unavailable as there was no orange liqueur. Not being tempted by the alternatives, we ordered coffees. The total bill was £103. Two small glasses of wine, four small fish and chips and four very ordinary coffees. As we left the waiter commented ‘See you soon’. I replied, in all honesty, ‘I very much doubt it’. Such a disappointment.

After reading the good reviews my husband and I were looking forward to spending our Golden Wedding voucher on a nice meal. This unfortunately was not the case. We waited over fifteen minutes to be given a menu even though their were two waitresses resetting tables. Then we waited another twenty minute's on our taster which was tasteless. We ordered mushrooms with poached egg to be told they had run out off eggs ! The waitress came back five minutes later to say they had found eggs , The starter was good . Eventually the main course came I ordered Vegetable pie (The only vegetarian option) it consisted of one Vegetable in it and mainly mashed potatoes it also came with roasted potatoes which had been reheated, my husband had the Cod which was fine but the smallest piece of piece fish I have ever seen and his chips were also reheated. We decided not to order desert or coffee because by this time we were really disappointed with the experience This cost our friend's £50 which I feel really sorry about. The only positive was the lovely waitres who served us and we did say to her we didn't enjoy it.

We went here after getting a recommendation from some friends who had a positive experience Save yourself the trip out of town and eat somewhere else Overpriced, poor quality and really bad service Soup served with a slice of bog standard cheap bread! £7 I don’t have an issue with pricing if there is value and quality but sadly no dish we ordered presented value for money. Menu reads beautifully but the product certainly didn’t resemble the description on the menus Order a dish off menu, they come back 10 minutes later and tell you it’s not available so you need to choose again Surely if something is not available they should inform you at the time the menu is presented They also overcharged me! When I questioned this, the female manager was adamant we hadn’t and the apple crumble was £12.50! Absolute joke I didn’t want to create a scene as we where out celebrating a birthday When I contacted them they agreed I had been overcharged and invited us back in as their guest, nice offer which we declined, I asked them to refund the over charge back to me I have emailed 3/4 times after the initial reply and agreement that we had been over charged but now they are just ignoring me. I have now had to contact my bank and report the over charge This place really needs to look at how it presents itself, if you want to charge this level of pricing I suggest you up your game Don’t recommend and won’t return The only reason I gave it a score of 1 was because it doesn’t allow a 0

Firstly the Taypark is now owned by Hydro Group of hotels so it needs some investment from them ASAP. The Christmas decor was very lacking. Front hall floor is a mess and the place looks scruffy. The bar needs to be re designed completely and Taypark is urgently needing new furniture. We had an Itison 5 course tasting menu for £30 each. Couldn't get a waiter to see the wine list. Eventually I went to the bar to get our wine myself. The staff who served us were friendly and helpful but very busy! To the food . ... Ham hock terrine. Nice Scallops lovely but a bit undercooked Risotto nice but too cold in spite of the cast iron pot. Daub of beef lovely but cool and over salted gravy Lemon curd dessert was dreadful! Hard pastry shell, watery curd, too sharp, watery cream. It takes a while to eat this meal and the little hard victorian chairs are not comfortable for along sit. There's clearly a good chef here but overall, the experience needs to be of a higher standard.

V.a. die Nudeln waren sensationell.

Found this place by chance. Went inside and was welcomed nicely. Had soup, which was leek and potato. Service was friendly and efficient. Bill did have a 10% tip on it, and I was informed of this and had no issues with it. My partner had fish cakes and enjoyed it and wished there was more as it was that tasty. Would I go back again? Definitely.

Hands down my favourite bar in Dundee, not only because i stay on the street but it also always has a good atmosphere and is guaranteed to serve a nice pint. Draught selection is ridiculous (in a good way) and staff are pleasant. Couldn’t recommend more.

So this is the nearest boozer to Dundee Train Station. It's small and very cosy. Some outdoor summer seating. All walks of life. Great no BS staff. None of that matters though. The Guinness is absolutely spot on. Mate just back from Dublin said he couldn't taste any difference.
