Second stay here. Its in a lovely place. Staff friendly. Food good.

Lovely pub with fantastic atmosphere and great food and topping that they have brilliant staff.

£9.50 loaded Nachos ??? (loaded with onions and chilli ?) , don't bother. Not recommended. Four other meals were edible. Staff unresponsive to complaint about the meal. ETA Reply below is nonsense, left the table to settle the bill whilst plate was still on the table, complained and help was "sorry" . No refund

Had a lovely family meal today. Various choices chosen from the menu including two kids menu items. Food was excellent as was the service. Friendly staff Definitely worth a visit

Great seafood risotto, with whole salmon fillet. Very disappointed by chicken Kiev, which was deep fried chicken with herby butter poured over rather than butter in the middle.

Popped in for a couple of drinks and pleased that there were excellent cask ales available. Comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Been a pub for nearly 200 years. They have a hotel next door converted from traditional cottages. Broughty Ferry is a lovely place and the pub is just a short stroll from the waterfront.

I used to like the Fish but unfortunately Belhaven are changing all their bars to a generic grey/blue paint style. Every bar looks the same now, same menus etc, which is a shame. It's not all bad, Bar staff are excellent and good selection of beers

Busy - even early evening on a dark November night - so if you are planning a visit it may be advisable to book a table. We just had a pre-meal drink - ambience good, fire burning in the hearth in the back. Cosy

Stayed her for girly weekend and it didn’t disappoint. They kept our cases for us till we met our other members from the group. It was a quirky inn the decor was really cute. The rooms were very clean and beds were comfy. Had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good and staff were very friendly. We used the garden also which was nice to sit out for drinks. Would highly recommend.

Finished off our holiday with lunch in the Fisherman’s. It was busy but staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend the Korean burger which was delicious. This is definitely our go to place where you can always expect a warm welcome and great food.

Arrived early for our reserved table however were told to wait for the folks who were sat at our table who weren’t booked to finish their drinks. Left us standing in the middle of a busy bar. They refused to ask the occupants to leave the table. The staff were extremely rude to us and made no effort to accommodate our reservation and had zero apologies for us

Nice pud staff great but.... .. food was awful. Chicken salad.. chicken tough couldn't eat it and salad had too much sauces on it salad was not fresh Chicken and nachos dreadful...good staff during day but some rude staff on at night. I wouldn't go there for food again but a beautiful cosy pub

Quaint! What a find on our tour of Scotland, a traditional style pub serving a wide selection of foods and drinks. Had lunch (both had the freshest of scottish fish) followed by ice creams. it was very busy but we did not have to wait long for our food, which was served by a fine young waitress who had an adorable smile which I like. Wished we could have stayed longer but travel plans mean't leaving this fantastic place.

Great friendly staff but yet again the food was disappointing. Served up lukewarm almost cold steak pie. The macaroni looked anemic and who are you kidding about triple cooked chips? They were still frozen in the middle. We'll stick to the Fort in future.

Always like the Fisherman’s, went for dinner with my wife. Ordered the special, chorizo, chicken and potatoes with sour cream. The wife ordered fish and chips. Just before they arrived the waiter informed me that they had no sour cream, rather than wait I said I would have it as it comes, which on arrival looked very disappointing. The three ingredients were basically all the same size (cubes, dice size). It desperately needed a sauce, not sure sour cream would have worked. As it was the waiter was very apologetic and didn’t charge me for it. The wife’s fish and chips was as always spot on

Wow..... Just wow. Everything you could want in a Hotel. Lovely clean rooms. Fantastic food. And possibly best of all fantastic staff. Out server ( both at Dinner and Breakfast) Megan was not only fantastic with delivery of produce but knowledgeable about menu etc and a real asset to the organisation. Our group ( 6) had a variety of dishes on the menu from the lovely home cooked Cullen Skink to freshly prepared Haddock and Chips and mouthwatering Sticky Toffee Pudding. Keep up the good work all.

Lovely wee place with friendly staff to stop by for drinks. We had a couple mid afternoon and decided to order the sharing nachos to try. Complete waste of money never seen nachos like them. Small amount served on a dinner plate and definitely seemed microwaved as soggy and cheap cheese sauce poured over them. Will def return for a drink but would put me off trying the food if can't even get nachos right.

As locals to Broughty Ferry we went to the Fisherman’s (The Fish) to meet another couple for a nice meal before they headed home - The young lad serving us was very polite, informative & efficient. To start the boys had the Halloumi with a chilli kick which was very nice, the girls declined a starter in favour of a dessert. For mains the boys had the sirloin steak, 1 of the girls had the chicken salad & the other the fish cakes. Both the steaks were very disappointing, lots of gristle meaning that only the very centre of the steaks were remotely edible without hurting your teeth, the triple cooked chips were ok but not really great - But to be honest the steaks at £16 a go were a let down. One of the girls had the fish cakes but reported that they were really potato cakes as there didn’t seem to be much fish in them, but the fries that came with them were good - Again disappointing. Lastly the chicken salad was reported as being good & was demolished by the other of the girls. At the end of service the young lad collected the plates & asked if everything was ok, we mentioned the above but it was only a cursory question as no-one came to ask what the problem was & this is why I am putting this review on. Sadly the girls declined pudding & just wanted to leave which we did. There are some great eatery choices in the Ferry but judging by our experience at The Fish this was not one of them - It’s a shame really as it’s a lovely pub in a great position that serves a great pint - Next visit I’ll stick to salt & vinegar or cheese & onion

We booked for a lunch for my family and we’re happy with the setting itself. Staff were friendly as always and service was good. The food was a disappointment however and for this reason we won’t be back. Fish and chips- fish was soggy and the fish itself had an aftertaste. Macaroni was “like a ready meal” according to my daughter. I don’t eat the stuff but it did look pale and bland with no cheese or crust on top. My fish cakes were ok, the salad was the best part of the meal to be honest. It’s a shame, it’s a busy pub and we have been often for drinks. Shame food was a let down.

Stayed here for 1 night. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was spacious as was bathroom. The window didn’t fully close which was annoying but luckily wasn’t the winter so all was fine. Tea and coffee available in the room, no biscuits though. Everything was clean and tidy. Would return.

Visited on Friday afternoon with family, staff were very friendly and informative of measures in place for social distancing - all was very clear and easy to understand. Food and drinks arrived very quickly and was great quality. Steak pie and Chicken, bacon leek pie was delicious. Very nice atmosphere next to the fireplace and still felt very much like a pub even though current restrictions prevent them from serving alcohol inside. Great job! Will return soon!

As per the title. It is a title that doesn't change. This pub seems to up their prices every few months. There is nothing overly special about this pub. It would appear Greene King are just money grabers. Time to find an alternative.

Excellent service on a very busy Saturday night from the friendly staff. Excellent beer too, prices reasonable. Food was pretty standard pub food, but was well cooked and decent value. If you're visiting at the weekend booking would be very wise.

Good menu choice, well executed. Live music on Thursday evenings well worth listening to. Parking near the venue can be an issue, and if you are leaving a car overnight in the area, do watch for the double yellows on the sea front

Myself and my wife nipped into Broughty Ferry for a bite to eat at lunchtime and decided to pop into “the Fish” to have a nosy after their recent refurbishment.

I actually have a painting of "The Fish" in my lounge, that is sadly the old Fishermans, the men in black turtle necks and hipster beards got their hands on it recently , where a duster and a tin of pledge would have done just as well. you can still smell the fresh paint. I only stayed for one pint which was OK, but I could have been anywhere, sad.

Popped in for a quick pint and a bite to eat, it's recently undergone a massive makeover but is now a bit of a pubco's interpretation of a heritage pub and not the Fish of old.

Two rump steak with a bottle of wine was advertised at £19.99. I was charged £29.99 ..I called and was told web site needs to be updated.....prices have gone up since they have reopened after a refurbishment .... it was not worth £29.99

Come here for several pints and food a lot while passing through home with work but the past year or two it has seriously went down hill. Went back just a couple of weeks ago and the quality of the pints, service and cleanliness has declined a fair bit from previous visits and there is a frankly odd smell in the place that I think is coming from the toilet and filtering through the bar. It is a pity has it is a proper old school pub which I really like and there is not many like it left but I will go elsewhere when passing through as it really isn't the same.

Went to the fisherman's for lunch with 3 friends today. Nice cosy atmosphere, service was very good and helpful when we had a spillage at the table. Food was nice enough pub grub, but we were very disappointed by the portion sizes. For almost £10 I got maybe 7 or 8 medium sized pieces of scampi and around 8 fat triple cooked chips. I think I could have counted the number of peas on my plate, really only a smattering. My friend asked for a side order of chips with her macaroni and again only received around 8 chips. I had to ask for extra tartare sauce as only a shallow amount filled in the dish. I'm sorry to say we didn't complain at the time, I would have felt like a fat middle aged glutton making a fuss about it and our waiter was so nice and accommodating. I booked the fisherman's this time after a lovely and very good value meal on their Christmas menu, but today's lunch didn't leave me as satisfied. It's probably saved me a bit of dieting after Christmas, but I wanted to let you know, if you're going to serve triple cooked chips, customers won't be satisfied with a one third portion and you got everything else right so it's a shame.
