Glenn's Fish And Chips in Dundee City

Ordered 2 x standard fish suppers at £10.10 each, a bottle of Irn Bru at £2.30 & a bottle of water at £1.80 which totals £24.30 & was charged £26.10. We didn't notice until we left the shop & totalled up what we bought!! So not great being overcharged £1.80!! The fish was very small & quite tasteless for the price & the colour & texture wasn't white/chunky like the usual fish we get. The chips were nice. But after this experience don't think we'd buy fish & chips there again.

Friendly service and were busy with online orders so a wait of 30 minutes.Small portion of fish for the price otherwise tastes very good but first and last visit for us there’s better value elsewhere .

We placed an order through Just Eat at approximately 5pm. We were assured the order would arrive by 7.25pm. It took until after 8pm for the order to arrive. We had tried to call the shop over 150times to try and get through but it was constantly engaged suggesting they'd taken it off the hook. The delivery driver was very apologetic and told us he was not made aware of the length of time since our order was placed. He stated that the shop had had a walk in of about 50 people and they had been served before the online orders had been made up. Disappointing start to a holiday in the area.

While my husband raves about their fish & chips, I am disappointed by their lack of vagetarian options

Everything is always cooked to order and is very fresh with crispy batter. You have to wait while it is cooked but it's always worth it! Good delivery service too and both delivery guys have always been great. I have a few favourite meals but tried something new this weekend and it was as good as everything else. Always 5*!

I made a multiple order for friends and the fish and chips were very good, value for money is excellent, portions are very good and should satisfy the hungriest. Also a thumbs up for the delivery service.

Visited Glenns Chippy on Wednesday and ordered two fish and chips and a haggis and chips two bottles of diet coke and a Irn bru plus two buttered rolls and two smoked sausages for the two dogs altogether it came to £32.00 which i thought was a little expensive but after we had eaten them it was well worth the money as its the best chippy ive ever been to

I travel regularly with work and have sampled fish and chips the length and breadth of Scotland. If there is a better fish and chip shop i don't know where it is. Id love to know if such a place exists!

Over rated had alot better. Didnt wrap food got home it was stone cold. No gloves worn when handling food and money 🤮

First visit yesterday. Highly recommended. Best fish and chips we have had for a long time and we are from Stonehaven where there is a dearth of good chippers.

Great chipper. Food cooked to order and not lying getting soggy in grease. Fish was very tasty and the chips were some of the best we’ve had. Friendly staff and a clean pleasant shop.

Not sure how much maz and princess were paid for crap reviews as glens food is all cooked fresh to order and always tastes great think maz should stick to double sausage supper west coast soggy style and princess maybe show the real name .......couple o belters

Excellent quality food and service. Would certainly recommend a visit if you are in the area. Fish and chips are the best locally and value for money. Normally busy and expect to wait a short while on your turn to be served.

La masa es agradable y crujiente y cubre bien el pescado, nunca se cae. A diferencia de la forma en que puede elegir entre pequeños,. Cenas estándar y jumbo. Todo hecho fresco a pedido, incluso las papas fritas, para que sepa que su comida no ha estado sentada por mucho tiempo. La tienda también está muy limpia. The fish and chips are amazing! Not more to say really. Oh the mushy peas are awesome too! Seriously ,Glenn's offer a variety of take away foods, fish dishes, pies, puddings, chicken dishes, burgers and sausages. It's all delicious - Simply the BEST!

We have just finished our first ever fish supper from glens and it was amazing! It was delivered on time and so so fresh ! Never had a fish supper as good as this. Puts Anstrurher to shame lol x so fresh batter amazingly crispy and hot straight to the door. Thank you. Not had a fish supper for ages and this was brilliant definetly be back as I'm sure many are. Keep up this excellent service thanks.

I'm very fussy about fish and chips, most of the fish and chips shops in Dundee are decidedly average. Glenn's absolutely stands out as the best amongst them. The premises may look humble and unremarkable, but don't let that put you off. The food here is fantastic. They cook everything to order which means you will have to wait, but it's worth it.

Have not made it Glenn’s for a little while but if you like fish and chips cooked whilst you wait and then have a little bit of heaven later,this is the place in Broughty Ferry to go to. Good prices too.

Pescado y patatas fritas de glenn es sin duda el mejor fish and chips en los que he estado. Todo está hecha y sabores fantásticos. Cada vez que estoy de vuelta a casa, yo asegurar que voy aquí al menos una vez, aunque es a menudo más. He probado varias tiendas de pescado frito con patatas fritas en Glasgow y ninguno se acercan, hasta el punto que he dejado de tener y sólo esperar hasta que estoy en casa para tener un Glenn. El personal es siempre muy agradable, así que siempre es una gran ventaja. Hay realmente no hay punto de comparación con otras tiendas de pescado frito con patatas fritas, este lugar está en una liga diferente enteramente.

Arrived late at our holiday cottage after a long journey and were very glad of our scrummy, generous and fast fish supper. Would have been happy to go back for more but we didn't get a chance!! Can recommend easily.

You cant fault the chips or the fish and the two white puddings i have had from here were superb, and don't forget the harbour is only 75 yards away for a good place to sit and eat them... thanks again Scott.

Favorite fish and chip shop in the Ferry, nice crunchy chips :-). Always friendly staff and a great selection. Offer home deliveries.

Best chips and white pudding super ever had.... and sat down the harbour 2 mins away You get good grub here and very good value for money just a hundred odd yards from the sea. Try it, you wont be disapointed.

We've converted from Murrays! Much nicer food and better prices. Never had a soggy battered fish yet! Definitely worth it, although it can be busy and tricky to park. Thankyou Glenns!

Scotland's favourite take-away is safe in their hands. An excellent standard set and adhered to over time.

The food is cooked to order and so is hot and fresh, so as long as your are willing to wait or phone in the order prior to collection is the best option. The batter is nice and crispy the way I like it.

Having seen the length of the queue at Murray around the corner we decided to go Glenn's. Oh dear, big mistake! Waited 25 minutes after ordering - the chips were stale and tasteless, the fish was meagre, very greasy and hidden by the batter.I don't have a chippie often and with good reason ...what I did eat left me feeling queasy and lethargic for hours afterwards. Back to proper food from now on methink's, and certainly not coming back here.

We used to highly rate this fish and chip shop but today I bought a Jumbo fish supper which came in 3 parts with hardly any fish and all batter. Took it back and got no apology but offered another supper which i accepted but it was much the same. We will not recommend and won't be back. Shame as they had a great reputation! £5.80 for half a fish, and waited 15 minutes for it. Won't be back. Used to go regularly, but portions have got worse see picture. Won't be back.

I am addicted to fish and chips and I love going into this shop and having any delicacy I order cooked fresh for me. Their fritters are over the top, crispy and deicious.

Food is always great from here.... However be prepared to wait while it's cooked as everything is cooked to order! Annoying having to wait.... But the end product is worth it. Staff are a hit or a miss. I've been in when it's quiet and they are chatty and friendly but when it's busy they seem grumpy and no one smiles. Also they have NO free sauces. All sauce is in sachet form at 30p a pop. Find that a bit disappointing.... It's a chippie..... Folk like sauce with their chippie!!

Cooked fresh to rder, lovely crispy batter.. worth the wait on it being cooked. Not massive portions but definitely the best yaste and quality.

We will not ever recommend to anyone again. As someone who previously worked in a chip shop and in the catering industry we certainly received very disappointing service. A 2 hour wait and very little apology. I would never have expected the level of rudeness and complacency that we did from Glenn's. What was once our favourite chip shop has really let us down.

Had a great take out. Everything cooked freshly to order. Maybe the portions of chips could be larger to go with the jumbo haddock. No cod available. Good value for money and pleasant people.

Have used this chippy for over 6 months now. Used the delivery service as lived further away. Food always arrived piping hot and tastes great. Now visit in person, you do have to wait a bit for your order but only because everything is made fresh, worth the wait. Highly recommend the Chicken Fillets. Staff always friendly and helpful.

Friday night, Broughty Ferry.......what more does a girl need but White Pudding Supper mmmmmm. So where to go? Glenn's Fish and Chip shop do a home delivery service so you don't even need to keep a nominated driver in your party. All made fresh to order, so does mean that you need some patience, but the wait is well worth it. Those white pudding suppers are just sublime, fresh and very very tasty. Portions are good sized, the fish is whale like so be careful with picking the medium size

Long wait for order. Very small portions...hardly any chips! Over priced! Avoid this place. Murray's around the corner is far better!

Scotland is blessed with excellent fish and chip shops. However it is equally cursed with terrible fish and chip shops and knowing the difference is critical. Take it from one who has sampled the worst and best the length and breadth of the country, that Glenn's is without doubt one of the finest. Key to this is consistency and time after time Glenn's does not disappoint. This seems to be largely due to the meticulous dedication shown by the owner in always frying to order. Chips great. Batter great. Fish great.

Title says it all- great fish and chips too much for me to finish, and I am not a demure eater! Don't look for ambiance here just good food and really good service. Parking is a premium, as I discovered in most of the country, so be prepared to walk a bit, but worth the effort.

waited for ages then order was forgotten. No help in getting things sorted so just left. The place wasn't that busy so no excuse really.

I am sorry to say this is the worst chip shop I have been in. Long unaccountable wait for food as in my opinion the haggis that made up the alleged haggis supper came from a freezer shop. The fish in the fish supper was greasy. Chips ok, but all in all very poor and over priced.

I stay in the ferry so here all the talk and must admit its true.you have to wait an eternity im sure I came out a year older, the fish was very small and hardly any chips just not worth the wait very much disappointed

As food cooked to order you have to wait but it is worth it. Lovely crispy fish. What more could you ask for. Friendly and efficient staff.

We've been going to Glenns for a while now and we really like the quality and freshness of everything. We get a chipper now and again for a treat but there is one thing that's been disappointing us and that's the portion size. We always get a jumbo fish supper and the portion size of the chips is miserable. We have looked at other reviews and we see they are mixed. We have always really enjoyed what we have had and wonder if the portions were bigger if the people who gave the bad reviews would be happier? We certainly would, after all it's not cheap.

Terrible Service and food was not good atal. Ordered a haggis supper which looked like scotch eggs and a few crispy chips, never knew haggis would comeIn small balls as they didn't say this in the menu! Also ordered a cheese burger which was a tinned microwave burger tasted like rubber. Deff won't be back also didn't deliver my juice. Poor poor poor espcially waiting 1 hour and 50 minutes for this.

I waited for over 30 mins for a bag of chips as "everything is cooked to order" the guy who was working - I assume he was the owner - was surly and rude. I would rather go hungry than eat there again. Oh the chips were not worth the wait. There are far better places to have a fish supper!

Being from Yorkshire, I am spoilt for choice when it comes to getting decent fish and chips. However, I lived in Dundee for ten years (1998-2008), and never got a really decent fish supper (the exception perhaps being the long-since departed "Mr Chips" on Perth Road, which closed down in 1999). Since moving back down south, I still make regular visits north, and visit friends in Broughty Ferry. A couple of years back, I noticed Glenn's in King Street, in a premises which had housed some fairly lacklustre takeaways in years gone by, but was keen to give them a chance. Suffice to say, the food is excellent - and I always make a point of buying a meal there each time I visit. All of the usual Scottish chip-shop fayre is on offer - the haggis is exceptional, as is the fish. However, I cannot resist the Stornoway Black Pudding (this stuff is the real deal), so if you cannot make up your mind, it would be my recommendation. The food is all cooked to order, so you might incur a wait, but surely that is better than purchasing food which could have been sat drying out for an hour?I have always found the staff to be cheerful and friendly. I cannot find fault with anything, so a perfect five stars from me! I believe Glenn's also offer a home delivery service, which is also available through the "Just-Eat" website.

Firstly - the waits - you do have to wait for your supper but most reasonable people realise this and are quite happy to do so - if you're so importantly busy then phone ahead and pick it up !The fish (haddock) and chips were extremely high quality and cooked extremely well - chips light and non greasy, good potatoes and fish moist and flaky in a lovely batter.The staff do come across as quiet - but it's a two way process (communication) and they are efficient. Lots of regular customers and lots of pick ups.Highly recommended

Have been a few times and always had a really long wait, not because of busyness or anything it just seems to take an age even just for a portion of chips, we only ever came when the neighbour chippy (Murray's) was too busy but really would be better off waiting in the long ques at Murray's because the food is much better and doesn't take forever. Staff are a bit grumpy too nobody smiles lol!

Best fish I have ever tasted. I know people who come across town for this chippy. Can only assume any negative reviews are complete one offs. Never been disappointed by Glenns. Best to phone your order in advance though as you can have a bit of a wait.

Don't know where they got "award-winning" from.......Was looking forward to tucking into a yummy chippy to end a lovely afternoon with my husband, what I got was mediocre fish and the worst chips I have ever tasted!! If I had shut my eyes I might as well have been eating the box. Barely any salt and vinegar either. Although, I have to concede, the batter on the fish was lovely. Wasn't worth the wait and definitely not worth the price for the portion size! Not a patch on my local chippy

Haddock suppers cooked to order, Best batter we've ever tasted. How do they do it? Wouldn't be surprised if the secret formula is locked securely in Fort Knox.This place is a winner.

Came here at New Year's and had the Jumbo fish and chips.Had run out of 'Jumbo' sized boxes - so I got 2 smaller sized- over cooked, hard bits of fish stuck in a 'normal' sized box. Obviously minus the extra chips too. The fish tasted like frozen fish. It wasn't good. The batter was rock hard and the fish was dry.I know a good fish and chips when I see one. This was rotten. Never going back.Travel the extra distance and go to Arbroath. The Round -O or Peppo's.

What can I say. Food cook to order which means you may have to wait but the wait is certainly worth it. Various sizes of portions to choose from and the batter on the fish etc is lovely and crispy. Good selection on the menu. Best fish supper in town.

I have never had a bad fish supper (fish and chips) from Glenns,they cook to order so expect to wait,better still phone ahead as it is always busy,you can order various sizes of fish the jumbo is huge,the batter is light and very crisp the chips are plentiful,dont get me wrong this is not the cheapest,but is certainly the best My family would not go anywhere else IT IS THE BEST IN DUNDEE
