Pine Cone Cafe in Dundee City

First time here and thought it was very nice i had the soup and sandwich deal it was very nice no complaints at all and thinking about this sun oct the8th for my breakfast

Was recommended this place by friends. Beautiful place, food was ok, wrong order though. Very long time waiting to get served when about 5 staff were all huddled together behind the counter doing nothing. Such a shame that the staff let's this place down.

A lovely rural setting, just outside Dundee, this is my favourite cafe in the area. Excellent quality of food, nice menu for all tastes, warm and friendly service and unrivalled value for money. All facilities are clean and spotless. In addition, it’s an attractive gift shop. Highly recommended.

The menu hadn’t changed in years and is tired. The soup sandwich combo was a very small soup that was not hot enough and very plain sandwiches no trimmings. The cakes could be much better displayed to make them more appealing . Waitress had dirty fingers. It’s a gem of a place but it really needs someone to overhaul with fresh eyes.

Service, food, drink and value for money all super, as per usual. Would recommend and will definitely be back.

I’ve visited this cafe 3 times in 2 weeks with our puppy because they treat dog owners well. The dog house is perfect. It’s warm, inviting, festive and full of everything we need. I’ve compared you to a cafe near Aylth that I was so disappointed with, because we felt like 2nd class citizens. Shame on you Peel Farm. Come and visit the Pine Cone cafe and learn from them.

Enjoy visiting here. Dog house is a god send. Staff really friendly and nice food. Only issue is counter area needs expanded so you can better see everything (cakes) on offer

First and last time here . Potato and leek soup was the worst I've ever tasted along with spicy tuna melt toastie. Soup was horrendous . Lovely place but the food was tasteless and very much overpriced. Avoid unless you enjoy water soup .

Visited last Sunday to catch up with friends. After a long walk on a humid day it was nice to have a refreshing cold drink & a snack. Crepe was ok but what was disappointing was the delivery of the crepe by the chef who should really have changed his "whites", his tunic was covered in various kinds of food. Just a bit off-putting when you're about to eat! It's since made me wonder what the kitchen surroundings are like!

Food is average. Service is ok. Good thing is you can take your dog as there is a separate doggie place just next to the cafe

Lovely cafe and shop. We had our dog with us so had to sit out in The Dog House. Great idea but the shed itself could do with a little updating and made cosy rather than just a couple of steel tables and seats. Makes you feel a bit more unwelcome when you have your dog! Otherwise lovely coffee and cakes!

There was absolutely nothing wrong with our food. However, it was very busy and staff had obviously forgotten all about an elderly lady at the next table to us. She was having trouble attracting the attention of staff so I said, ‘ Excuse me, this lady has been waiting to be served.’ One member of staff snapped at me that they were all ‘running around like headless chickens’. It later transpired that no one had written the lady’s table number down therefore no one had come to take her order. I completely understand that mistakes happen, especially on busy days, but the attitude of the member of staff who snapped at me was not really acceptable. This was our first visit and will, unfortunately, be our last.

Only visited this time for an afternoon coffee and cake. Coffee was very good as usual, my wife really enjoyed her crepe and I had a nice tray bake. Service good at all times, will be back again.

Firstly the Christmas tree staff outside were lovely and helpful. Take away traybakes in the cafe good and a reasonable price. Choice of Christmas decorations was good and also reasonably priced. However, the attitude of the staff in the shop was woefully short of Christmas cheer and deliberately rude and spoiled an otherwise exciting time.

Great place when the the theme was Christmas all year round. It was so unique and special Now it's not appealing as much as they've taken all the x-mas items off the shelves, which takes away what was special about it. We won't be going...

We had a great lunch here. A local sourced burger and a ham, Brie, cranberry panini. The panini arrived without then cranberries but the chef came out and swiftly sorted it. The food was superb. A very busy place and I would highly recommend. 👍

No ha sido durante años debido a un mal servicio anterior. Lamentablemente no ha mejorado realmente. La comida era muy buena. Cuando pedimos que nuestras bebidas (tés y café) vinieran con la comida, las bebidas llegaron rápidamente, ¡pero 10 minutos antes de la comida! La olla fresca no tiene cargo una vez que la mencionamos.Sin embargo, la confusión en el mostrador para pagar es una tontería absoluta. 3 empleados que envuelven todos los artículos comprados en la tienda de Navidad. Nadie aceptaba el pago de los clientes del café, por lo que dejó de hacer cola para pagar. Realmente necesitan resolver esa parte.¡Vergüenza!

My wife and I knew about the pinecone but had never been .on recommendation of friends and family we are now regular visitors..selection of food is v.g service is also v.g .and in a lovely location.WELL worth a visit

Stuck in the dog house.... but that is a good thing, we were able to have lunch with the pup. You order at the till and your food is brought to you in the wooden cabin. Fast service, great portions with salad n crisps. Recommended.

Cute affordable cafe in a gift shop, coffee was great and food portions are generous. There is a little second room/house for dog owners

we went for lunch. soup, burger, panninis and cheesecake and apple pie for afters. we enjoyed all the food and the price makes it excellent value for money. we would go again.its table service and as the counter is set away from the door it is difficult to see who sits at the tables in what order and therefore some people just sitting down seemed to get their order taken quicker than some who have been sat for a few minutes more.

Good spot for lunch with friendly staff!! I had the tuna panini with a small side salad! The little shop is also great for finding little trinkets.

Buena comida, buen café, buen valor, el único inconveniente para mí es que no puedes conseguir tocino y huevo después de las 12 a. metro. También puede traer a su perro hay un edificio separado para eso. Y luego está la tienda por una vez que has comido.

Been here a few times. It's a great cafe to meet with a couple of friends for lunch or just coffee and cake! They have a dog house for those who wish to have the above but also have their dog with them. Cafe is within a gift shop which sells various things and lots of Christmas goods at that time of year. Food is always fresh and good and cakes are delicious.

Food is tremendous and at a low price, love this place, you can even take your dog and sit in the dog house. Will be back.

Visité con un amigo y su bebé el sábado pasado para un almuerzo tardío. No estaba demasiado ocupado cuando llegamos a las 2 de la tarde, así que había suficiente espacio para maniobrar el cochecito alrededor de mesas y sillas. Ambos tuvimos una buena tostada y un café con leche, la mía tenía jarabe de caramelo, que era muy agradable. El personal era amable y no nos dimos demasiado tiempo para esperar nuestra comida. Definitivamente regresaría, pero la próxima vez traiga a mi perro, ya que me di cuenta de que había un edificio al lado que acomoda a las personas que podrían querer llevarse a sus perros con ellos. Tomé a mi madre para el té de la tarde el miércoles 10 de abril. Nos recibió un amable personal en una cafetería muy concurrida. Café encantador con una amplia variedad de sabrosos sándwiches de 3 niveles y una fabulosa selección de pasteles. Llenando así la camarera en caja nuestros pasteles restantes para llevar a casa. Encantadora variedad de regalos para la venta también. Sin duda volveremos y lo recomiendo altamente

On site free parking with great views of the countryside, staff are friendly and we found the service prompt and efficient. Extensive menu for breakfast, lunches and snacks.

Visited here today with my mum while in the area. What a lovely little cafe with great food. Was looking for a light snack and I thoroughly enjoyed my soup and panini. There is a great outlook over the countryside and a fab little outdoor eating area where customers can take their dogs inside while they enjoy their food. Our server Lisa was so friendly and answered all questions we had regarding the menu. Would recommend!

Visited the cafe at Christmas time so the shop was full of all the Christmas decorations. The decorations were beautiful, couldn't help but purchase a few for giving as gifts.

Arrived on a Sunday in January to find the place pretty packed; likely to be a good sign (optimistically). Waited a while for a table and we were shown to what is basically a tent tacked onto the side of the building. Thankfully, we were right beside a heater, but it was still a bit draughty. Service was slow, but eventually ordered drinks and Panini which took an age to arrive. The coffee was some of the worst I've tasted in a long time - almost undrinkable. The Panini were OK, but nothing exciting. Possibly a place to visit in the summer on a quiet day (if you're not fussy about quality)

18 members of our walking group had lunch at the Pine Cone Cafe, all were very impressed. We sat out in the 'Dog House', as we had two dogs with us, it worked out very well. I had the soup and sandwich deal, it was very tasty, well cooked at a very reasonable price. I will definitely be back.

On a colleague's recommnedation to my daughter, we visited in late December 2018. Very impressed with the quality and value of the food served. Was also delighted to find some lovley first footing gifts at a very reasonable cost. It was a win win trip,

Went this morning for breakfast roll and coffee. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Food and coffee were good quality and served with a smile. Fantastic selection of Christmas decorations....which I resisted, maybe next year 🌲🎅🏽

Attended here as a spur of the moment lunch and we saw a general improvement in the service here. We had heard of a change in management and on arrival we saw staff walking about with Ipads taking orders which was a change from previous visits.

Were also here a month ago and gave the poor service the benefit of the doubt with being busy and a few new looking staff . Fast forward and if anything it was worse today.

El lugar es realmente solo un espacio pequeño en una tienda de Navidad con algunos asientos al aire libre y un cobertizo adicional. Creo que esto probablemente funcione bien en el verano, pero no es muy agradable en una buena temporada en octubre. Personal encantador, ¡pero no pidas rollos de huevo frito! Pidió lo mismo y lo pidió "bien cocinado". El primer bocado salpicó el yugo por toda la camisa y los vaqueros. Solicitó el segundo rollo de huevo y recibió un estallido de aspecto sucio en el más barato de los rollos blancos. Calificaría este lugar como una parada de camiones. Esto fue todo después de esperar 15 minutos para el Servicio! !

Tenía un almuerzo tarde encantador aquí hoy. . . . Comí un panini de derretido de atún con ensalada y crips y mi prima tenía un queso encantador y toastie de tomate con adornos. . . . . . Hicimos un poco de compras y luego fuimos a la segunda ronda. . . . . . jajaja . . . Chocolate caliente con malvaviscos seguido de crepes con plátano y sirope de arce. . . . . . . bang fue la dieta. . . . . . . .

Tables are close together & very close to the goods displayed for sale. Food is ok .... piping hot & good on a cold day. Ideal time to visit in the run up to Christmas for lovely ornaments & presents.

We attended on Saturday afternoon. 6 of us for coffee and cake. After over 10 minutes we asked for our order to be taken. Several staff on but all standing at till area chatting. Order was taken, after another 15 minutes we still hadn’t received our order. 2 small tables that had arrived after us had been served but not us. It wasn’t even busy, all tables had been served. When I went to ask where our order was the reply ‘oh who took your order’. The girl in question had tried to go into kitchen area and hide. Our order hadn’t even been started. Absolutely shocking service. Not once was there an apology. We cancelled our order and left. Still no apology and 2 staff seemed to think it was funny standing smirking as we left. Didn’t seem to be any sort of manager present. I will not be back. Shame as we had wanted to look around the shop area which looks lovely.

Great food, quick and professional service, never had a poor lunch here. Great toasties, sandwiches and soup. Good selection of yummy cakes. Will be back again!

Walked here with friends for breakfast. 1st time. It was great. Evening nicely cooked, nice tea and toast. If you walk there and back, you can burn off the calories.

Local friends brought us here for lunch and it was perfect. We all had toasties which were lovely and enough tea in the pots for us all to have two cups each and top ups. The shop is well stocked with a big range of Christmas and non Christmas goods. The staff were very pleasant and the entire premises including the toilets were spotless.

Perfect place to have breakfast or lunch after walking the dog. Nice warm toasties and a mug of chocolate! Great food, great prices and great staff! 2mins from the woods walk and Camperdown Park.

A friend and I popped in for a rather late lunch. A panini with salad and potato crisps on the side, with 2 coffees each and beautifully finished off with their version of a banoffee meringue. Absolutely delicious! Our first visit and not likely to be our last. Thre is a 50% sale on a vast number of items, so pop in for a browse around and enjoy.

Suggested by a friend for an informal weekday lunch I was amazed I had never heard of the Pine Cone Cafe before. What a lovely wee place! The food was simple and tasty and (very importantly for me) the coffee was excellent. Once you’ve eaten your fill take a browse around the lovely gift shop...whilst it’s always got a flavour of Christmas there is more to it than just festive decorations...though I definitely intend to visit again in the run up to the festive season.

A nice, spacious cafe, with a small attached gift shop. Lovely sandwiches - I can highly recommend the Brie and cranberry. Nice, but typical, lunch fair. Good service. Nice cakes. Very nice strawberry and cream tarts made to order. The only thing is, the prices have gone up. The tarts were 1.50 and now they’re £2. Everything has increased in price. The sandwiches up a couple of pounds, I think. So, all in all, good, but not quite the bargain of a couple of months ago. Oh, and having said that, the gift shop is still good value. Check out their little Christmas section. I’d recommend.

First time visit today with my sister and it was an amazing place. The service was second to none very quick, the waitresses were very attentive and polite. We had lunch, the panini and salad was lovely and as I`m a bit fussy with my cuppa I wasn't disappointed was a lovely cuppa, we then went into the gift shop and had a look around, was very surprised at the prices, plenty to buy, we even bought some Christmas ornaments, the shop is very well stocked with a great selection of gifts and nik naks, maybe the first but it won`t be the last, we`re going again at the weekend for breakfast. Pay it a visit you won`t be disappointed x

Went here just for something different. This place is easy to find now due to the new signposting. I got a chicken mayo type panini. Which was ok but could have done with a little bit more filling. However the panini itself did seem a bit greasy? Don’t know where that came from but there you are. This is served with crisps and salad.

Lovely place for lunch! Great paninis that you can customise to your own taste. Great coffee and a wide range of desserts. Very busy and loud so there's not much peace. However, this makes for a lovely atmosphere and the staff work very hard to run the cafe smoothly. Would return!

Country side Cafe with inside/outside seating,gift shop and parking. Very well organised and food is varied and well presented. Bacon rolls and toasties are super. Interesting shop with quirky items and Christmas theme.

Arrived at the Pine Cone by chance as we were having a wee drive folling a visit to Dundee. Nice place with a gift shop, staff seemed good, coffee arrived and we enjoyed that but our food didn't arrive. After half an hour when I asked where our food was, a toastie and a jacket potatoe the girl came back to apologise that our order had been lost and they no longer had any potatoes. We decided to leave rather than wait any longer. The girl dealing with us was nice and apologetic, gave us our drinks for free and some vouchers. A mistake but one that left us hungry and disappointed.

Easy car parking, mainly on a slope. One marked disabled car parking space, but some "normal" spaces are also available on the flat. The cafe is on the level, but the exterior door threshold is wide & thus harder to cross with a wheelchair. Once inside, the cafe is wide with plenty of space to manoeuvre. There is a wide range of amusing birthday cards & other interesting items for sale. Lovely, unexpected find in the countryside.

The Pine Cone offers great views of the countryside and the food and service is good also, free car parking, loyalty cards, what's not to like.

We were out for a wander in the Sidlaws and returned to the car thirsty and hungry....five minutes away is this little gem !

The café on the North Western outskirts of Dundee offers a wide range of snacks and main dishes, friendly and efficient table service after ordering at the counter. Parking on site , as is the gift shop.

Miserable day for a walk with the dog which was improved with a visit to the Pine Cone Cafe, the additional area we could take our dog into was ideal as it was lovely and cosy, had a bowl of water for our dog also. Clips were also available to attach the dog lead to. Coffee was delicious as was the cakes. Will definitely return. Staff also very friendly and helpful.

Always enjoy ourselves here. Coffee, cake and a lovely lion around the gift shop. You really should pop in here sometime.

A wonderful place: 1. Superb views. 2. Excellent service. 3. Plenty of gluten-free options, including g-f bacon rolls. 4. Good coffee. 5. Cheap prices. 6. An excellent Dog House for our poodle and us. 7. Parking free and easy.

Had a lovely lunch here with my youngest and hubby, great food and value. Bought some Christmas things for next year at an amazing prices (50%off all Christmas stuff). Really friendly staff and brilliant views.

This busy café on the outskirts of Dundee, offers good food, well served, with a gift shop and free parking.

My husband and I are fans is homemade soup, however mushroom is not my favourite. It was the only vegetarian option available so I ordered it and must say it was delicious. The accompaning cheese on the sandwich had a good strong flavour and the onion chutney was very tasty. My husband chose the egg mayonnaise sandwich option which had plenty of moist tasty filling.

Pine cone is a brilliant cafe and the best Christmas shop ever we love going here at least once a month food is delicious staff are very friendly 5 star

We visited here as a family in December for the Christmas Shopping Event which seemed to be a huge success! The food is amazing and the shop stock is lovely and unusual, I even found a few extra bargains in the outdoor shed area, but all food and items are really well priced. The Christmas decor I bought from here is always admired by my family and friends and I cannot wait to come back for some more tasty cake! I absolutely love that there is a dog house outside, we will definitely bring our pup on a summers day.

I was there to meet up with friends - it was very good, coffee etc. very palatable. And the view of the Sidlaws is fine, particularly the Angus sky and the winter sunset. The cafe is comfortable and warm (including in the 'outside' part). I think that the soup is very good, though didn't have any on this visit.

This is a great place to go for a light lunch or a tea/coffee and a homemade cake. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly. There is also a nice gift shop attached where you can buy all kinds of goods, including Christmas decorations all the year round.

We go there fairly often for breakfast/coffee n cake or lunch. Mostly the food is good and tasty. Mostly fresh - not always tho! When it's quiet it's fine. But when it's busy it's a shambles. The staff are like headless chickens wandering around the place looking for the 'number' while the food gets cool. The q to place order is ridiculous and staff (and customers) seem to be falling over each other. And - a wait of 40 mins for a bacon and egg roll???? What's that all about?

Took my mum for her lunch for her birthday and food was great, reasonably priced and tasty. Staff very friendly. Waited a bit for a table which worked out fine as I took ages to park as people seem to park erratically leaving no spaces for others. Not really the cafes fault but if they expect larger numbers as Christmas approaches they might like to consider expanding. The shop is also really nice not just at Christmas but all year round.

Visited this place today for lunch. As it was very busy we accepted the offer to eat in ‘The Doghouse’...big mistake. After opening the door for the waitress who brought our drinks out we were treated to a dose of verbals advising us we had to leave the door open...pouring rain and about 8 degrees outside. As we were sitting opposite the door at the radiator we felt the cold draught right away. I advised the waitress we were not prepared to leave the door open whilst we had lunch at which point she told us we had to so that the waitress could deliver our order safely. Her attitude towards us and tone of voice were appalling. She implied that even though door was open it would be fine as they now had heating in there - unbelievable. I then spoke to the ‘manager’ (not sure if the person I spoke with was actually the manager) who basically said the same as her waitress and walked away mid conversation.Customer service was appalling, so much so that we decided against visiting the Christmas shop as we did not feel the business deserved our custom.I would be interested to know health and safety view on this part of the premises regarding safe delivery of hot and cold food and drinks with particular regard to staff safety. Also no lighting in there so it was pretty dark as well.Fortunately the food when it arrived was good.

We like coming here for excellent home baked food.Quick lunch of home made soup and a sandwich, delicious and excellent value.Ample parking but getting busier as gets more and more popular.Soon be able to use getting the xmas tree as a reason to return

The café is getting busier as Christmas approaches, which sometimes means the kitchen struggles to cope with the orders, however the staff are friendly and apologetic if this is the case. Good choice on the menu.

Had a lovely lunch here today. Cozy bright clean cafe/shop. Friendly staff. Great food and coffee. Well stocked shop now full of Christmas sparkle (well it is a christmas tree farm) Always busy. Good to walk your dog to as they have opened a new area for owners and their dogs!Worth a visit.

The food was decent and reasonably priced which is why it gets 2 stars instead of 1. I ate in about 10 seconds flat as I’ve never been so desperate to leave somewhere. It was absolutely filthy and the waiting staff were exceptionally rude and unhelpful. I wouldn’t recommend this place and wouldn’t return. I’m not surprised we were the only people there. My hot chocolate was freezing as well, probably because it was 3 degrees outside, there was no heating and they insisted on keeping the doors open.

Frequent visitors here. Always good food, always a busy place. Staff are always friendly and helpful. So, this might be a bit Victor Meldrew ish. When queuing, it can sometimes take an age because the till seems to produce paper after paper anytime something is ordered. Why? What is the need? It just seems to slow things up. Maybe it’s just me.

The food is simple and very good value, especially the filled rolls and soup and sandwich deal. The crepes are delicious and are so large they need to be shared! The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely lunch stop!

We go for lunch every week, good selection on the menu and food is great. Staff are very helpful and prompt. Never crowded although often full. Soup is something else and they use locally sourced burgers etc
