Fantastice little spot close to the lanes, me and my partner visited this place on a sunny Tuesday afternoon and it was a delight, the drinks selection was varied and the pies were to die for! Highly recommend this place which even has a little beer garden at the back. We will definitely be back to enjoy this place once again, the staff were amazing and really attentive

My friends and I had a great time playing poker, Matt was a great host and made us feel welcomed. The drinks were great and a good price, I would definitely recommend and will be going back very soon.

The price for a double was quite high and sadly the price for the same drink varied between bar staff. The place lacked ambiance and their candle game was particularly poor.

The pub is really cute, you also have board games to play with, they serve pies that are delicious (advised the spinach and goat cheese) and nice choice of drinks

Having had fond memories of sampling the selection of gin’s at the Office it was disappointing to see how tired the place has become. On our recent visit not only did the decor need a refesh but the toilets left much to be desired. My wife worryingly found a candle as the sole light in the ladies! Time for a refurb I think.

We came here for dinner but instead just ended up ordering drinks. I had the Bramble. The drinks were good, but it seemed like this was more a place for just drinks rather than food.

Haven't been to Brighton for years so was looking for nice pubs & bars in which to have a fun evening. We happened across The Office and thankfully they have NZ Sauvignon Blanc and a very drinkable local ale. Sitting in the courtyard garden on a lovely warm evening you cannot help but to drool at the smells coming out of the franchised Thai food kitchen. We shared a starter comprising various Thai bites and it really was good. Careful of the squid tempura if you are not into spicy food, though. Overall such a great experience we went back there later in thd dvening!

Popped into this quirky little pub whilst strolling through the North Laines in Brighton one sunny sunday afternoon. Amazing selection of Gins and good variety of lagers and ciders to try. We were fortunate that the THAI KITCHEN was operating so we ordered a selection including Pad Thai Noodles and a Red and Green Thai curry. The food arrived promptly and was just what was needed, no complaints from anyone in our party.

The Office offers plenty of fine gins and a good selection of lagers on tap (try the Kozel). My partner opted for the only bitter on tap and produced it 'light and refreshing. They do Thai food but we didn't eat. There is a sunny beer garden but we opted for the calm shade of the bar.

We come to Brighton around five to six times a year and keep meaning to try this place. I just wish that we'd have kept on walking past again today. The menu was ok but there seemed to be very little accompaniments with the gins; No cucumber just lemon or orange. The cocktail I had was ok but very weak. The worst thing though had to be the toilets, the worst I have seen in Brighton. There are so many other better bars in Brighton, we won't be back

This place saved us on a wet rainy afternoon. Went in as there were a couple of tables free... so glad we did! They have so many weird and wonderful gins, delicious Thai food and friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere and good music makes me wish I lived closer but will definitely be visiting again when next in Brighton!

My partner and I loved it here! The atmosphere was brilliant and drinks were amazing. We only intended on getting drinks but when we saw the food coming out we knew we had to come back later and try it. It definitely did not disappoint!

It's been a while since we last visited the Office and the first during the afternoon. We were lucky to find a free table as the venue was very busy - although there is also a rear garden overflow. Two guys were playing old 78s and another couple were enjoying the occasional jive' and in some weird way it all seemed right but that is what we like about the place. The food is prepared by Thai chefs and was indeed very tasty and not overpriced at all. Definitely worth a visit.

After finishing a lovely dinner, my partner and I were recommended to try out The Office for their Gin collection. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely lady who had a genuine interest and wide spread knowledge of the Gin collection. We followed her recommendations and tried the Monkey 47 (with 47 different botanicals) with the Fever-Tree tonic, and let's just say the drinks did not last long! The service was fantastic and the atmosphere of the place was nice and simplistic. Unfortunately the toilets could use with a bit more attention but apart from that we would definitely recommend it to any Gin lovers!

Went here for drinks on Saturday with friends, lovely place. Nice choice of gins and the service was really friendly. Will be making this a regular place to visit now.

We popped in here after a conference in Brighton as heard they did some nice gin cocktails. The bar is fairly small with not a lot of tables and from the inside it does look more like a pub decor with wooden tables and chairs than a restaurant but the smell of Thai food was intoxicating. It is bar order service so we went up together to order. My colleague ordered a cola from the pump but it was flat and the barmaid changed it without fuss to a bottle cola. The rest of us had gin cocktails which were fairly priced at around £6.00 each and geez you could taste the gin in them! The food arrived altogether and consisted of reasonable portion sizes. A colleague asked for a fork at the bar and the barmaid went to the kitchen, when she returned we were told they only had forks and spoons. We also then had to ask for salt as there was none on the table and we were given some without hassle. The food was very nice and flavoursome. I think for me this was the best part of the experience as although the cocktails were nice, they mainly consisted of gin based cocktails and I like a variety. Nobody used the facilities so cannot comment on this. Once we finished our food we stayed on to chat for a while longer and did not feel rushed to move out which was nice. The only slightly negative comment I have is regarding the bar/ waiting staff as although they carried out their duties perfectly, there was not an air of welcome around them. When they came to clear the table it was done without a word and we were in the middle of a conversation and all of a sudden the plate in front of me was almost snatched away. Similarly as we were sat chatting, the menu in the middle of our table was suddenly snatched away without a word, it seems the food had stopped being served. It would have been nicer if the staff member had just asked or made their presence known before leaning in to the middle of the table and retrieving the menu. It's definitely worth a visit though and the food is delicious.

We came at lunchtime and enjoyed the excellent choice of beers and we had a lovely Thai food snack of tempura vegetables.Service good and very friendly.

We have been to The Office Sydney St Brighton for Thai food many times and haven't had a problem with BAR staff or THAI food before BUT this time the BAR staff were appalling and the food not quite up to its normal standard. We specifically asked for coconut rice for both meals which the female bar person with dyed light blue hair acknowledged. Non the less the meal arrived with plain rice we did not realise this until we had partally mixed in the curry with the rice. The BAR staff then wanted us to wait for the coconut rice to arrive and just add it to our meal and we had to take of the now curry soaked plain rice. We did not find the acceptable and returned both plates to the BAR which obviously upset the BAR staff. We finally got fresh plates but my curry was more watery than normal and some of the veggies were a little hard but overall still very tasty. When we went to pay we thought the bill a bit steep at £38.20 I paid by card but asked for an itemised receipt which you do not automatically get there. It was after a little fuss between the two female BAR staff that I was handed a handwritten receipt and a £10 cash refund with SORRY written on the receipt.....Now had I not asked for the itemsed food receipt I would have been £10 out of pocket. Was this overcharge to cover for the two meals we returned which the BAR would have had to cover as it was their mistake in taking the order or is this a normal occurance? Just be warned ALWAYS ask for an itemised receipt and don't be scared to challenge if you think bill s too high!!!

My husband and I chanced upon this place, which is situated in the North Laines and appears to be run by a Thai family - the main attraction was the number of Gins in order - they also offered an interesting selection of beer. We came during the day (so it was not very loud) and we sat in the garden where there is a sun spot. There is a fantastic selection of gins and gin based cocktails - I went for the Brighton Gin, which was citrusy and crisp and we enjoyed Pad Thai noodles. The noodles tasted fantastic and the spring rolls looked freshly and hand made (which were also delicious).

We only went in for a drink. Incredible selection of gins with detailed notes in a menu. Quite an education. Staff were well informed as to what goes with each one. It would have been nice if they had looked like they were enjoying their work.

Almost walked out as it was so loud - DJs playing classic swing music ( don't understand why they don't just create a play list- probably something to do with the authentic sound of vinyl!! And it is Brighton) My wife liked the row ! Great atmosphere and a very fine gin & tonic .Worth another visit.

...didn't feel terribly clean in there. I must confess I tend to judge places by their toilet facilities, and the ladies loos here definitely need refurbishment. Tired, grimy and old, they needed updating. Food was pretty good though so it's a shame.

It's a good place for gin, but the benches, bright lights and lack of soft furnishings make it a rather uncomfortable place to drink. It is like being sat in a cold office or shop.The Thai food smelt nice, would like to try it if I ever go back. Sorry but too ordinary.

Found The office through an Internet search, wow what a fab little pub ..... gins galore, great food very reasonably priced. Friendly staff, great service and lovely atmosphere.... my new favourite bar in Brighton !!!!! Do pay a visit you won't regret it and you don't just have to like gin !!!

The attitude of the staff here is disgusting. Have visited and eaten here a few times, normally hot food from the kitchen or simple bar snacks when the kitchen is closed. One time just after I ordered food I was informed that if I want to sit in here I should buy something. Only after a short time did she tell me the kitchen is a separate business (but the bar is the only place to eat the food), however as I mentioned above I order bar snacks too if the kitchen is closed which surely is not a separate business, plus I sometimes buy drinks there too.Some advise for the management, don't rudely criticize paying customers for not buying things and instead get your facts right.Also the place is poorly heated in winter and I have had food brought to me undercooked.

Stumbled across this treasure in central Brighton. Friendly staff, nicely done interior, excellent location. I had a nice mulled cider for £2.95, don't know about other prices. Ideal place to recover after a day wandering around the centre

We had a late lunch, a few gins and beers here on a Saturday afternoon on a weekend away.It's a lot smaller than the website and write-up would have you think.The gin selection is amazing and we wish we could have stayed for more to work our way through the collection. Beers were pretty good too.Staff not 100% on the mark but not too bad.Thai food was beautiful and quick. I wouldn't have put Thai food with a gin bar but it seems to work pretty well.The venue itself is a bit shabby which probably doesn't matter at night but during the day looks a bit grim.Good place for gin fans.

Been here a few times now, always during the day as a stop off when visiting The Lanes. It's a good place with one of the bigger gin selections you might find anywhere. I recommend the Colombian Aged, my missus the Jinzu, both with Mediterranean tonic. They do Thai food too, we just had a starter to share as nibbles and they were lovely. The food in general here has a good reputation and at a reasonable price.

I visited the pub last week with a friend for lunch. The bar was quite quiet and the service was quick. The mains come with rice and the food is hot and delicious. A good choice of starters and mains are priced well. There is also a wonderful choice of gins which I didnt try on this occasion but have sampled previously.The bar is over 18's only which makes a welcome change from having to eat lunch with screaming children running around which is the norm in many pubs.

Try out different gins of the world they have a fantastic selection of over 50 unusual gins and several tonics, all beautifully presented with various accoutrements, lemon, lime, cucumber etc. Theres a small hidden garden.

I opted for a Rhubarb Gin and 1724 tonic, which apparently is made with Quinine picked at 1724 meters above sea level on the Inca trail (i'm a sucker for marketing!). I have tried my fair share of premium gins and normally have Fever Tree tonic, but this really blew me away. My partners Hoxton Gin which was coconut based was also the best she had tried!

Thought the food here was very tasty and rich in flavours and spices. Also very reasonably priced. Venue could do with a bit of sprucing up but don't let that put you off.

After a busy day shopping this was a great find, just what we needed. The Office is a very friendly and inviting bar, with a great selection of Gins, and various lovely cocktails available. It has a great relaxed atmosphere were you can just have a drink and a chat and just relax. This area is just so much better than The Laine's more room to walk about and browse. We are definitely going back to carry on tasting the Gin's that they have and would recommend.

We just went in for lunchtime drinks and took them into the beer garden at the back. The garden is all concrete. At one time, somebody has made an effort to make it nice with plants and furniture, but it is sadly neglected. Plants are dying, furniture decrepit, and even the floor was not swept. Under the stairs outside is piled broken plastic junk - chairs and flowerpots. The garden umbrellas are covered with mould. Very sad.The cider was OK and the white wine was reasonable quality but was served way too warm. We didn't eat but the people on the next table said their food was nice.

I come here for lunch at least once a month. As they don't open til 12pm, it is generally quiet so that you can get a good seat in the window and people watch and you get your food served in a reasonable time. If you ask about food allergies, they always double check for you and we've never had a problem. Love the thai green curry - it's got a good kick!! Have never tried the gin menu despite saying every time that we must come in the evening! Good choice of beers if gin isn't your thing. They also hold an open mic night once a week.

My 20-something niece and nephew tell me that this is a fantastic gin-bar in the evenings. Unfortunately we were visiting at lunchtime with out 14 year old son. I was attracted to the pub by the great selection of gins and the Thai menu. We didn't get chance to sample either as we were asked to leave because "their licence doesn't allow children in the pub". They advertise a nice garden, but this wasn't offered to us. This is the first time in decades that I've heard of children not being allowed in a pub serving food.

Have been there many times & have always enjoyed the food & the beers. Went there with friends this weekend But was refused entry as one of our party ( a 17year old)was under 18. I tried to explain that she only wanted food, But their policy is no one is allowed ENTRY (even) if their under 18 years. This has now changed our attitude to this pub. So you can take you pet in but not your baby!!!!

Have been here many times over the years and usually every time we're in Brighton we pop in here as we just cannot resist!Came in on a Sunday - hot and sunny July day. Two young people serving behind the bar.Asked for my usual favourite Belgium strawberry beer - shock, horror - no longer sold :(So got a bottle of American bottled beer called "Blue Moon" - it's a beer I'd had before whilst on holiday in the USA but I didn't enjoy so much this time.Noticed a beautiful cat strolling in and tried to call it over - it wasn't interested but luckily for me it's owner was in, a lovely lady who brought the cat over to me for a stroke! I was in cat heaven :)We got talking about the gin menu and I was recommended one of the gins to try - didn't get around to it this visit but will do next time.I tried a cranberry sloe gin recently and now I love gin after hating gin all my life!!! lol Sloe gin is 100% different and quite sweet - if you select the right one and very, very tasty over ice.We ordered the satay tofu - £4.75 and our favourite prawn tempura £4.75 to share between us. I went to the ladies whilst waiting and that was an experience! It has been done up - at last - but it's smaller!! It was a tight squeeze in the loo and an even tighter one to wash my hands - lolThe food had already come when I got back to the table and it was delish. The tofu was so like chicken that I would not really have known if I'd been told I was eating chicken instead of tofu!The tempura was as gorgeous as it always is here - scrummy, wummy :)We will be back next time we're in Brighton!

Lovely location and good atmosphere inside. Had a few drinks and decided to order some food. Saw the tacky laminated menu on the table but thought we'd give it a go anyway. Thai food - we just ordered a mixed seafood starter for two, only £10 so thought it was fairly reasonable. Then it came. EVERY single thing on the plate was deep friend and/or covered in batter. Not even light batter just thick, greasy and not very pleasant. There was even a couple of deep fried mussels that were in their shell. We had had a few drinks but even for us the food was not enjoyable. Couldn't finish it was so bad. Thought I would mention to the guy who took the order but he responded with 'that's just how it comes.' PAH-defo won't be back!
