Popped in for a late morning coffee and bite to eat. Good selection of wholesome cakes and sandwiches available. Went for the cheese, chicken and chorizo toasted sandwich and it was divine! Service was super friendly. But allow yourself time enjoy the experience, because it was busy and not fast. We will definitely return :-)

Recently had to come to Hove and living in Worthing tend to catch the bus - now that I have found the Flour Pot Bakery at the end of my journey I think I will be catching the bus more often!! Very friendly staff and the selection of food and breads were amazing - catering for all tastes but with the emphasis on fresh - it's a winner.

Absolutely the best bakery in Hove. I’m the regular customer and always satisfied with the service , food and coffee. All kinds of breads are tasty and I tried all vegetarian sandwiches and cakes are delicious. But the most important thing is staff. All of them are kind, friendly, smiling and very helpful. Especially Emma is the best. Once you visit there, you’ll be addicted.

We spotted the Flour Pot when walking along the promenade and were immediately drawn to it. It looked lovely, there was a small but appetising looking lunch menu and a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We chose outside as we had our dog with us. The food was excellent, and we topped off lunch with cake and coffee. There is a lot of choice in this area but I think for quality and price this is an excellent option.

After hearing the rave, I knew I had to try it, food was lovely! However, really disheartened by the customer service, the servers seemed unfriendly and unbothered. Especially with it being my first time and not knowing that I had to queue separately for cake apparently after not acknowledging my presence, they were very rude and unhelpful.h

This is a high quality, imaginative and creative bakery which makes and serves the most fab food! Whether you are looking for coffee and cake, or an inspired lunch or tea time - the Flour Pot Bakery is brilliant. We went to the Brighton on, which is under the arches, looking towards the beach and had coffee and cake there. It was hard to choose which cake - all of them looked fresh and interesting! We were so impressed that when we passed the Hove version of the same cafe, we had to go in and try the doughnuts. We had the ones filled with raspberries and cream - with a great coffee.

Portland road branch - went yesterday. Staff behind counter just stared at till when I placed my order. No hello, eye contact, nothing except ‘what can I get you’. When I pointed to a cookie at far end and said ‘and one of those cookies as well’’ she just snapped back (again staring at till) ‘what type of cookie? We have many types. You have to tell me’. Say what? You only have one type on show! At the end of my order, the card machine was shoved to me with the minimal exchange of ‘where do you sit?’. I tried to put it down to her having a bad day but then saw her chatting and even smiled at certain customers. So she could but wouldn’t. Maybe I am not the FlourPot type! Add to that the area behind the counter looked a mess, a lot of staff busying themselves and with dirty plates etc piled high. The only thing they didn’t do was serve - why did I have to stand in front of the counter for 5 min before someone noticed me so I could ask for tap water? I had rubbish service at the beachfront branch on more than one occasion - ignoring customers repeatedly, forgetting orders as too busy chatting to their mates. There is only so much allowance one could give. FloutPot is clearly expanding at the cost of service. let’s face it - customers will only put up with this price point (and often stale croissant from yesterday) if at least the staff are friendly and professional. For me, I’ll take my business elsewhere and FlourPot you can continue to believe in your own hype and your staff can be rude and pick who they want to serve any time

I really love this cafe. The staff are super helpful and very good. They remember you if you've visited before and remember what you like to drink. I like to sit outside of cafes for a quiet chance to read so I can't comment on what it's like inside as I've never sat inside but everything about the small terrace they have is great. Both food and drinks are good and turn up as order and for such a busy place they come quickly. I'm trying to think of a negative but I can't really. Maybe things are a bit pricey but then everywhere is these days and what you get for the price is very much worth it. The woman who runs it (I think she is the boss) is great and friendly and doesn't overbear her staff or boss them about which is something to comment on as it is rare and you get a sense that it is a good place to work.. All round good place. Can get busy but that just shows it's good. The only place who sells proper focaccia too which isn't overpriced and is baked properly. I can't work at the moment because of illness so getting out everyday for a walk coffee and read really helps me and this place helps tremendously too.

Despite the good reviews I have tried very hard to like this cafe in Hove and on the seafront but so disappointed I shall never go back. The cafe in Hove has small tables around the edge of the room, occupied by singles working on computers. It lacks atmosphere. The cafe on the seafront is hectic because of a similar problem of single occupancy of tables being used for long periods as a work station but also lots of dogs and children running around. The final nail in the coffin on Friday was a huge St Bernard in the centre of this tiny cafe, taking up at least 4 spaces.

I go here all the time for great coffee, a nice cheery atmosphere and yummy snacks. Pick the right time and you can have a very peaceful sit down and people watch, or time it wrongly and you’ll have to squeeze yourself in between the entire population of Hove. All part of the charm! Seems to appeal to everyone between 2 weeks old and 90 years old! That’s quite the market!! :)

I desperately want to like Flour Pot but have found the service a bit lacking and unfriendly in some of the other branches. We'd not tried the Hove branch before so thought it was time to give it a go. Thankfully on this occasion the staff were friendly and polite. It's also great for those with dogs, being dog-friendly indoors as well as having an outdoor terrace. The food was good too. Both the sausage and veggie rolls were excellent in flavour. And my sandwich, a sort of egg tortilla with sweetcorn, was different and extremely tasty with an unusual texture (in a good way). If I'm being hyper critical, I think the floor could have done with a quick brush and mop - though it was a busy weekday lunchtime with lots of families and children and maybe the staff just hadn't had time.

The Flower Pot Bakery... come delicatessen and cafe supplies a vast array of products, from pasties, sandwiches and coffee! We stopped here on our visit to Hove on our week long trip to Brighton. We enjoyed our experience very much and the atmosphere and aesthetics of the cafe ‘chain’ (if you could call it that) are both phenomenal but at the same time minimalistic, very modern and somewhere I’d love to come back too. I write this from another branch of The Flour Pot Bakeries.

I drop in here two or three times a week, either on my own or with friends and sometimes with my two large dogs. The staff are uniformly friendly, efficient and there is always room to relax, read a book. Someone always asks after the dogs (water/ a treat/ a pat on the head). There is often quite a community of dogs under tables, and sprawled here and there. Unlike the ever reliable (and lovely) Small Batch, they don't run out of cakes and the coffee is consistently good while the tea is served in a generous pot (at least three cups full). A great range of bread's and juices and really, it is hard to beat and just a short walk up from the lawns.

I met up with my friend at 10am for a coffee and a cake. We had been to Flour Pot before and enjoyed it. Every table was full, not with cheerful people enjoying coffee but singletons taking up a table for two, with their laptops open, it looked more like a call centre than a cafe. There were no available tables, we didn't want to sit outside as it was a cold day, so we decided to cut our losses and go elsewhere.

A big thank you to the lovely chap in Londis around the corner from here. I was in the area and wanted a decent cup of coffee and the Flour Pot was where he recommended. The place was buzzy, friendly and full of customers inside and out, chatting happily. I had the best latte I've enjoyed out in a long time and promised myself a return to purchase some bread. Well, back in the same area and there was a large crusty, seedy sourdough loaf with my name on it. It was as delicious as it looked, fresh or toasted, slathered with unsalted butter, yum! Will have to return to sample the other culinary delights on show, that's for sure. Found everyone friendly and helpful.

Lovely little place with delicious pizzas and panini ideal for lunch. Staff is quite friendly and they also have a good selection of desserts (see donuts) all freshly baked. The outside space can be a little cosy, especially on a sunny day so don't expect much privacy. After hearing a lot about this place my partner and I decided to try it today. It was at around 3 o'clock on Monday afternoon. The lunch hour rush was just over and so understandably there were a few empty tables with dirty plates. We decided to give it a go and went to the counter. When we asked what was available to the man behind the bar, he responded with a bit of bad attitude that they only had what we could see there on display. The man behind the bar waited impaciently for the order without making any suggestions and so we ordered a couple of Croque messieurs from the specials menu, 2 teas and a carrot cake to share.

So happy to have the Flour Pot in Hove. We love love love the bread and often enjoy coffee and cake in store. The family adore all the meat sandwiches, but I have to raise the problem with the vegetarian options. You have stopped making the amazing white bean one - why??? I have tried the brie, which is extremely uninspired (it is just bland brie and sundried tomatoes with an oily pesto), and the new brown bean one, which is just about inedible (We could not recognise any of the tasteless ingredients). I am raising this in the hope you will please bring back a tasty vege option. We are massive fans and want to give you the full 5 stars!!!

Went into Small Batch, Hove Station at 4.20 pm yesterday. I ordered a coffee as a dine-in customer. Was told that I would have to use a take away cup as they would be closing soon. I left but not before telling the cashier that I would have drunk my coffee within 10 minutes. Small Batch website indicates that they close at 5.00 pm. BTW there were no other customers. Anyway, I went down the road and gave another coffee shop my business.

Unfortunately, even though there were many things right I'll be avoiding this place. The service was impeccable, good beer, perfect lighting and lovely music. So what was wrong? A coven of aggressive women believing they ran the place because they'd booked a table. At their request the music, that I'd been enjoying, was turned off so they could conduct their meeting whilst sipping peppermint tea. I'd suggest a pub isn't an ideal place for this sort of thing. Especially if you're hell-bent on spoiling the atmosphere for everyone else. Sadly, they're regulars.

The bar was very quiet on a Saturday evening and football was showing. The drinks were pretty basic but reasonably priced. It’s a shame as it’s a nice bar but I won’t return.
