The Oceanic Restaurant in Torbay

Massively overpriced. Paid £18.50 per person for a cheese salad. We were too shocked to complain. I am all for supporting businesses at this time however feel this was taking advantage of our custom.

We've visited Torquay a few times in recent years and were recommended the Oceanic for Sunday Lunch. Done that 3 times now on our visits with groups of 6-8 each time and the service and food are excellent. Coffee in the lounge is included so that tops off a very relaxing afternoon experience. Twice we've had a Gluten Free requirement for one of the party and the request was handled very professionally indeed. We've also taken advantage of mid week deals for a 4 course meal that was very, very good value and superb food. Look out for their deals and give them a try, we've not been disappointed so far

The restaurant offers a very good value three course menu plus coffee. It is light and airy with sea views. Srevice is very efficient & friendly with dietry needs catered for. Dishes are nicely presented and nothing is too much trouble

At a dance break we had a buffet dinner with good choice of tasty hot dishes. A la carte dinner was excellent

The menu was very food. The food was cooked beautifully. My husband is a chief and he said the steak was cooked beautifully

The menu is misleading offering 4 courses for +£30. We didn't want such a big meal, and were told there were 2 or 3 course options. Nice meal but still overpriced. Menu quite limited too.

Stopped here for a night and wasn't disappointed. It was a toss up between Ocean Drive and this place to eat and this place won hands down after terrible experience at Ocean Drive earlier in 2015. This place had great service and the food was fresh and delicious and served just right. Cant fault them keep up the good work.

As a goup leader of twelve fifty-plus people I stayed in this hotel for three nights and ate there for three evenings, The service was splendid, the food excellent and varied (every night different) . As it was a pre-booked trip (rooms and half board) I don't know exactly how much we would have paid if we had only had dinner here,- I had nothing stolen either in the room or in the restaurant: the staff was very kind and helpful. So were the waiter/tresses of different nationalities. I warmly recommend it.

We have had Sunday Lunch at a number of hotels and pubs in Torbay but this was the best that we have had recently. It cost £15.95 for a 4 course lunch plus coffee and chocolates afterwards in the lounge. When we arrived we had a table reserved for us in the bar for a pre dinner drink and coffee afterwards. All the food was well cooked and presented, the plates were hot and the waiting staff pleasant and efficient. We asked for more roast potatoes and that was no problem, in fact we got another dish of vegetables as well. Lovely views overlooking the sea was a plus for a relaxing Sunday afternoon.

During our evening meal at the hotel, a Polish waitress asked for my coat she took it to hang up and when she brought it back I immediately noticed my Swarvoski brooch was missing and had been stolen. I asked the staff where it was and to say they were useless was an understatement, I felt like they were continually suggesting I was loosing the plot and made few attempts to find it! I will never return to this hotel, you can't even leave a brooch on your coat, never mind leaving possessions in your room! The food was also very mediocre considering the price we paid. Very poor.
