Very rude owner and terrible food that's if it ever turns up? Go elsewhere!!!last week got our order wrong waiting 2 hours before food turned up, this week order been over 2 hours again! always get told 30-45mins BS Getting pi**ed off with these time wasters will be ordering else where :(Musa the current owner has no idea about customer service was very rude when we spoke on the phone about our food being wrong and very late told use to go elsewhere then! WOW.... SO we sent it back as they NOT the only takeaway in the bay!

Had 2 chicken wraps and i end up sick 2 days in raw. Was terrible experience and no more. Happy i didnt have to go to hospital

My last review here under old ownership couldn’t have been more positive. However we tried Smithys a week ago and it was poor. Everyone has bad days so desperate for some decent fish and chips,I gave them another chance. After my last poor meal reviewed below I gave Smithy’s another chance. A mistake. I had requested in the order that the chips were properly fried and the request ignored and again this order had an anaemic cold mess But much worst there was the most terrible smell of ammonia from the fish indicating that it was old and bacteria had formed, Unless they were wearing gas smasks they must have known. It was disgusting and the meal - for a second time -was binned. The smell was so bad we took the meal out to the bins outside. We had to open the windows to try and get out the smell. Never again.

Thought we would give this place another try seeing it was under new management, the fish was watery and the batter greasy and soggy, the chips were only warm and the chicken was as dry as it’s bones, curry sauce just tasted like water, will not be going here again.

I really wanted to like this takeaway as it’s near my house and the menu has great variety .sadly it wasn’t very good. The chips were really dry and looked like they had been left out for ages. The chicken tikka kabab was so over cooked I couldn’t chew it! To be fair the roast beef was really nice as was the salad. I think I’ll give this takeaway another try before i write it off.

Absolutely awful. Asked 4 gravy seperate... It wasn't so was luke warm and soggy when it arrived. The gravy was disgusting lumps rather than sauce. Beef was OK. Kebab was dry. The chips tasted fumny too. Waste of money and wouldn't order again... Tried to eat it and failed. Disgusting and went in the bin

Waited for half ah hour and watched the utter chaos int he shop - Coking 1 or 2 items at a time and then keeping them warm because they have no chips. Customers in the shop watching 3 staff deal with one online order while the whole queue waited.I was asked if I wanted salt I said no - but they were xccc I drove home about 5 minutes away and everything apart from the curry sauce was only warm. twice the price of the chippy in town and almost inedible.

Ordered on line for delivery as I was going on a night shift and couldn't be bothered to cook. BIG MISTAKE. Order went in at 7.30 still waiting for the delivery at 8.50. if it wasn't for the fact that I have paid for it via Just eat I would tell them to forget it. Just hope that it tastes good otherwise I will be putting another poor review.

We thought we’d try here as don’t live to far away. Ordered on just Eat. We had two Orleans first was the staff lying to us. The food was with the delivery driver for 30 minutes and hasn’t arrived we received a phone call saying that the driver had been outside and been ringing out flat number and it wasn’t working this was in fact a lie as we tried it after the phone call and it worked prefectly fine. A different drive then came with our food and even said that they had come because the driver who came didn’t know where we lived. This in fact means that he couldn’t have come to start with. The due to our food being sat waiting so long it was all cold, the cheesy chips had gone horrible. The battered burger the same. We ordered two medium chips and they came different sizes. We will definitely not ordered from here again. Would be nice to have a reply form a manger.

We’ve just moved to the area and this “fish and chips” is just around the corner.... great we thought. I had to wait 45minutes for my food and it wasn’t busy. I ordered a large cod that wasn’t much bigger than a fish finger, plaice had nearly no batter on it and was more grease than fish and the large chips wasn’t even a large it was just enough to feed our 4 year old and they were under cooked. To top the poor food quality and child sized portion sizes they laughing AT other customers that came in! I won’t be returning.

We are locals and have been trying to find a decent fish and chip shop for ages with most places letting us down. The chips were perfect and the veggie burger was delicious. Sausages and curry sauce great too. Prompt delivery and super friendly delivery guy. Thank you we will be back soon!

Smithy's has always been pretty bad, but under its new management (mid 2018) it has become a farce. Grey chips cooked in dirty fat, and a 'haddock' that consisted of two oblong fish cutlets made of god-knows-what straight out of Iceland or Lidl.

I feel I need to leave another review as I have already before it was taken over. Things seem to have gone downhill very fast, quality of the food was not good at all, I'm hoping it might be teething problems from the new owners or maybe just a one time bad job! I will try again next year maybe to see if things have improved...

place is good now everything was cooked fine the home made chinese chicken curry was great and tasted better than from a chinese takeaway

I have written 3 letters of complaint to whoever is in charge since 01/12/17 and have received no reply. Apart from my last delivery being late it was cold perhaps because it was not carried in a thermal bag. I asked for King Cod, and while one must expect some tolerance regarding the definition of "king size'' what was delivered was between small to medium. There was no credit card receipt with the order which apart from not inspiring confidence in the establishment does raise other issues. I have used this establishment since 2012, and have found a sporadic quality of product & service but sadly the trend is downhill. The lack of any replies regarding my letters of complaint does suggest that whoever is in charge, that they no longer care for their customers let alone for the life of their business.

Three hours I waited for my meal, I used to order regularly from smithy’s but after waiting over three hours and then the food was stone cold I will not order again from here!

I ordered at about quarter to 6 on a tuesday evening and was already shocked to see that my food wouldn't be delivered for just over an hour at 5 past 7, and then it ended up being half an hour late which made it worse. I worry what it would be like on more busy days like Friday or Saturday if it took that long to get my food on a tuesday, the food was lovely but wont ever use this way of service again.

Can't fault the lovely fish and chips but unfortunately after placing the order on line for one portion of fish and chips, onion rings and curry sauce I waited nearly 2 hours for it to arrive and when it did I got 2 pieces of fish no onion rings and no curry sauce. Rang and told them as I assumed another customer head my order. The other customer head already rang them. As I said can't fault the lively fish and chips but won't be ordering on line again.

It was nice but not the usual standard a lot of the chips were the closing time scrag ends and the cod was certainly not large, if that was large I would hate to see a small. It was nice all the same but it wasn't up to standard I've ordered on and off for years and I can safely say that. You guys need to up you're game some what.

I expected sauce and salad with my kebab meat and chips, as stated on the menu, but no., just bland meat and chips. Food was cold and poor quality. When I ordered through Just Eat I was told my food would arrive at 630, however this changed to 700. I wanted to cancel, but was not able to. Will definitely go elsewhere in future

Cold and not even edible. No excuse blaming the rain

Delivery time changed from 7:30 to 8:00 then was another thirty minutes arriving at 8:30

The food was 2 hours late the pizza didn't Taste right and the cold drink was put right next to hot food made food cooler ive had better from you guys but this is not the first time it happend last week aswel hope for improvement I'm not being rude just it's not great not great disappointed 😥disappear

Overly late and incomplete order, name coke drink, I rang shop and they delivered coke half hour later.

Fantastic piece of cod, just the right amount of thin, crispy batter, delicious. Let down a bit by 20 min late delivery.

Really enjoy are meal was late but could off been becase off traffic as it was rush hour everything was right and taste lovely

20 minutes late and didn't have onions on the 2 hot dogs. scampi and fish cake were nice though. chips average.

Pie obviously warmed up in microwave as flabby and uneatable, chips greasy but a good portion enough for two, but haddock very good, a mixed reception from self (haddock) and friend (pie).

My local chippy, has a great choice of food, very friendly and helpful, usually have cheese and onion fry-its or spam fritters, donor kebabs are pretty good too Does what it says on the tin

Had a meal with the family here the other day.. Not bad at all.. We all enjoyed and no one moaned.. So all was well.. Give it a try if passing by...

Normal 6 out of 6 all the time but this time round some of the chips were green and black other than that the fish is great from here

Fui y compré bacalao y patatas fritas para mi padre y patatas fritas y salsa de curry para mí. La comida está bien pero me cobraron 8 libras. 85 para una cantidad de comida. irrisorios, No regresaremos como tiendas de chip es mejor y más barato en la ciudad. Muy caro para lo que me dieron. Resulta un pequeño pedazo de bacalao casi era de £4. 00 en su propia pero en un lugar de la ciudad que puedo conseguir bacalao y patatas fritas con excelente calidad para el mismo tipo de dinero. Han dejado de sentir un poco engañados. Muy significa porciones.

Lovely food and good portions however delivered late, took nearly 2 hours from ordering on the app to getting delivery. Had to phone up and chase and were told they don't go by the times on app so don't rely on it. However would still order again 😊

Plenty of chips, peas were good but the fish was a bit dry.

B-E-A-UTIFUL! Amazing pieces of fish and the chips were great! Curry sauce topped it off perfectly. Will be ordering again for sure!
