Visited this restaurant on the off and was so pleased we did. Staff were lovely and very attentive, Food was AMAZING and very filling 😋. Would definitely be returning when down this way again.

One of the best fish restaurants I've been to - honest, good quality, sustainable, local industry supporting and delicious! What a fab idea to use the tablecloth on each table, along with the menu, as a guide to tell you what latest catches are available and the prices. Our knowledgeable waiter introduced me to fish I'd never had - gurnard and though it wasn't available - megrim and I chose from the tablecloth catch specials - a ray wing grilled with capers and French tarragon, one of my favourite herbs. It was delicious, caught off Brixham by the Rockfish boat that supplies this small chain of restaurants. I asked for it with "unlimited" chips that come on those dreadful metal cups containing probably no more than 20 - that's the downside and I guess the reason they offer unlimited. Well, I make sure it's unlimited by asking for more, to bring it up to an adequate portion, similar to what you'd get in a traditional fish and chips shop. It's a trend that's catching on though - the chip shop a few doors away also offers unlimited chips, though they're more generous with their portions. I say end the nonsense, save the hassle, and just serve proper helpings of chips - small or large. As a starter at Rockfish I had half a pint of shell on Norwegian prawns. My wife sent got monkfish scampi - so much better than the normal rubbish scampi, followed by fillet of bream on a Greek salad which was an extraordinarily good combination. The restaurant add £1 to the bill to help deprived children in the area have holidays - excellent idea. I hope Rockfish goes from strength to strength, thriving its business and that of Brixham's fishing fleet. As I said to the waiter, I wish there was a Rockfish where I live in Essex - the nearest to me is Poole in Dorset. Highly recommended but do ask for more chips !

I went in on the spur of the moment...was greeted by Izzy who made me feel welcome immediately. Water was brought to the table without having to ask. She explained the specials very professionally...also there is a great and varied menu. The whole grilled Bream I chose was perfectly cooked and delicious, followed by a Creme Brulee to die for...Izzy's service was a delight...I highly recommend Rockfish.

Lovely fish and chips, not greasy . Plenty of fish and less batter , unlimited chips but we found what was served in metal containers was plentiful, I had curry mushy peas which was tasty . We had an early tea so not much of an atmosphere, soft music playing so quite nice. On a plus side didn't see any dogs whilst we were there as I have an allergy. Also there is an optional service charge of 10%, 13%, 15% or you can decline or pay a service at your own discretion . Service was excellent

Extremely overpriced. Not only was the food tasteless, there was zero effort put into presentation. The staff seemed clueless with one member promising us that unlimited new potatoes came with our meal, only to be informed by another member that they weren’t unlimited when we tried ordering more. A lot of the items on the menu were not available meaning we had a hard time ordering. They promise unlimited chips, which indeed are unlimited, but the staff never pay attention to any tables meaning it’s a nightmare trying to get them to order more chips. After placing the order it’s a very long wait to receive the chips, by then you are finished with the rest of the food as the portion sizes are not big at all. Overall a horrible experience, seems like just a tourist scam. Very expensive for the portion sizes, taste and presentation followed by very poor service. Will NOT recommend

Feel it’s overpriced for fish and chips, especially when your ‘daily special’ dish is described as coming with sauce but you get a minuscule portion and ask for a bit more and they charge you £3 extra for it! Wine also very overpriced. Wont visit again, it’s a tourist trap!

Food nice. Good selection. Appear to be Selective with who can dine. Cigarette / vape smoke from the outside section of next door was very overpowering. (Not really the problem of this restaurant, just warning to other customers as we are all now used to smoke free eating!)

Chips were excellent. My only complaint is that they don’t serve battered sausage or cheesey chips, I’m sorry but what are they smoking, what sort of fish and chip shop don’t serve battered sausage or cheesey chips, I am outraged. Once again chips were good as well as the service.

I spent a delightful time eating lunch in Rockfish. I was first asked if I had any allergies and requirements. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection and all the staff were very friendly, helpful and diligent. When I next visit Torquay I would certainly eat their again.

Went to Rockfish yesterday, food and service excellent as usual. Reason not 5 stars for food, they have ditched the 'proper' chips and substituted with frozen wheat flour chips. Shame, previously the chips were the best in the area.

Server had a fantastic knowledge of the fish available and explained extremely well to my fish eating partner. £21.95 for a two course meal (featuring catch of the day) was very good for the quality. I am not a fish eater but felt the chicken milanese was delicious and well presented. Unlimited chips is a great selling point and we found it really is unlimited! Rockfish cider was delicious and went well with the food. Finally, I found the staff extremely friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. They were spotting when the chips and my cider were finished and very quickly offering refills (just to point out cider isn't unlimited...unfortunately 🤣).

price for fish platter 35£ or something in the menu. when u order keep in mind that's the price for one portion. did order fish platter and at the end it did cost 70£ for two people. basically not very clear prices for food. and waitress didn't said nothing when we make order.

Bizarre experience!! Went last night, only to be dismissed because I didn't reserve a table even though there was plenty of open tables. And by dismissed, I mean, shoed away almost! Booked for tonight, and we went, and no one seated us. We sat down and ate pretty average seafood. Other people were turned away because there was no reservations and again lots of empty tables. 2 thirds of the menu wasn't available and this information was only shared after we were sat looking at the menu for about 30 minutes. Won't be back!

Honestly the best fish I have ever had!!

Rockfish had most excellent service and great food. The restaurant is quite well refined and the prices reflect this. I would thoroughly recommend this place. Or at least for the food we had. We had two sets of scallops for starters these were excellently presented in their shells with a nice crispy topping. Followed by our main course which was silver mullet for my wife and grilled cod for me. Again these were fantastic. For sweet my wife had ice cream, I had a lemon tart with sorbet. The tart was made in the style of a Crème Brûlée. Exciting crunchy and tangy goodness with a perfect sorbet. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Top notch

I sat outside as it was very hot so was on my own but I’ve been to most of the Rockfish restaurants now. I was meeting a group so I knew that we had dinner in the evening so only required a snack but simply had to go to Rockfish. It wouldn’t be the same without a visit there.

Excellent fresh Oysters and seafood platter for two. Lovely staff.

We ate surprisingly delicious fresh fish here. The service was attentive. We had a lovely seat on the terrace overlooking the harbour. Highly recommended if you want to eat tasty and healthy food in England…

Such a large menu with everything cooked to perfection. So many favourites it's hard to know what to order!! And a special thanks to the staff who were so helpful.... nothing is too much trouble 😀

The freshly caught cod of the day was absolutely delicious. It's a lovely little restaurant. I had the experience of going when it was nice and quiet because it was during the Spain England football match so I don't know how busy it usually gets. It was fairly quiet on the night that I went. I presume you're going to have to book a table ahead because the food was absolutely excellent, so they must be quite busy.

I recently dined at Rockfish in Torquay and had a disappointing experience that I felt I needed to share. First and foremost, I found the food to be overpriced for what we had To make matters worse, the staff seemed indifferent .We struggled to get their attention when we needed assistance, and when we did, they didn’t seem particularly invested in ensuring we had a good experience. It was frustrating to feel ignored, especially after spending a considerable amount of money. Overall, I left Rockfish feeling disappointed and unsatisfied. I wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience, as there are plenty of places in Torquay that offer better value and service.

Great seafood, fresh and lots of choice. The price was higher than your chip shop but you eat what you pay for. I enjoyed every bite. Only gripe is; get some pint glasses rockfish.🙄

My wife and I visited the Rockfish on Wednesday for dinner. The service was welcoming friendly and very quick. Really enjoyed the food. Loved sitting outside eating our meal overlooking the marina on a warm summer evening. Highly recommend this restaurant if your in Torquay.

We had dinner here twice with reservations. The staff is lively and quick. We had the oysters for dessert, they were really wonderful. The main course was also always very delicious. You can reorder the fries at no extra cost.

Fantastic food and service, 7 in our party and we all had something different no complaints from us. Clean and airy restaurant, immaculate toilets with a quirky radio station playing in the toilets. I happened to pass the chef and complimented on how great everything had been that evening and could see the kitchen was spotless too. Service from all staff excellent-some may say a little pricey but you pay for what you receive and it really is worth it.

Very good fish and chips . Well presented and very hot. Unlimited chips which were very tasty . Served by Lauren who is relatively new but so friendly and keen to make sure we were happy with everything . Not sure she should be asked to talk about all the specials available as I’m sure we can all read a menu , she does this really well but not sure it’s needed . Only down side was the time it took to cook especially when they were they were less than a quarter full on a Monday evening . Anyway , go there as the food is very tasty . Good luck Lauren in your work at rockfish and your future .

The fish is excellent caught that morning and sustainably sourced We both had the haddock which was cooked in a lovely light batter it came with bottomless chips we would never eat more than one portion and a very small portion of tartar sauce it would have been nicer to have a bigger portion of tartar and perhaps a salad garnish The staff were lovely However the biggest let down was the restaurant itself it had cheap looking vinyl seats and cheap tables we have seen better furniture in a little coffee shop

Our waitress, Sam was amazing, even witnessed a difficult customer (who didn't book) and she handled it with grace. Gave recommdations for pairing wine. Partner and I shared side salad and chips which was a perfect combo. Best dish ray wing, never had before but will look put for it from now on.

Het is een fantastisch restaurant. We werden hartelijk ontvangen door Claudia in een goede sfeer. We hebben er twee avonden gegeten omdat het eten echt vers is en de bediening is uiterts vriendelijk die alle tijd voor je neemt. Je hebt het gevoel dat je hier als gast gewaardeerd wordt. Het eten is dagvers. De vis wordt gevangen rondom Brixham en dezelfde dag geleverd aan het restaurant. Mijn vrouw heeft twee keer mosselen genomen en ik de Heilbot. Tip: neem het vers gebakken brood met boter en grof zeezout hierop. Past goed bij de mosselen en haar saus. Mochten we ooit terug komen gaan we hier zeker eten.

Absolutely lovely place and to top of my holiday they cater for gluten free people my food and the service was top notch

We were a bit worried about some of the reviews but went anyway and we are glad we did. We had an amazing dinner, service was very good and the food fresh and very tasty. We both cook a lot and definitely value fresh and quality produce. I love that the scallops where handpicked. Some reviews had complaints about the chips - they may not be what some people had in mind as chips but they where fresh, crispy chips. All in all I would definitely recommend it when you like quality seafood and are prepared to pay the value. I would definitely go again.

appalling service, booked a table to be told on arrival they could not accommodate us. very disappointed, have visited this restaurant regularly before and love the food, the manager in particular was extremely rude. will not be back.

Very touristic place. It was completely over priced. a staff kindly explained to us all the special menu of the day saying if you order it will be serving with unlimited chips and salad. so We ordered three starters and two special main dishes. Food were okay however everything was severed as too small portions compared of price. moreover, when we ask them to refill salad, they changed their words and said only chips are unlimited second salad will be charging. it was such a ridiculous. we saw them explaining menu to other customers after this happen and they were still saying it served unlimited chips salad and bread. it is obiviously kind of trick which they are doing on purpose of leading up customers order expensive menu to make money. we felt like it is kind of scam to tourists

AMAZING food and attentive staff. Loved this fish restaurant. My husband had the sardines and dressed crab and I had the calamari and sea bream on a fresh, crisp feta salad. The flavour in all of the dishes was lovely, so tasty. We were visiting Torquay on holiday but live on the Wirral, otherwise we'd be there every week. Absolutely Gorgeous food!

This is a place you should visit especially if you like fish. Service is excellent and very friendly and the food is excellent, make sure you have something with endless chips and order the curry sauce, absolutely great

Came here for lunch on Friday and was pleasantly surprised. We were looked after by Claudia very well and from the specials, ordered the Ray Wing as well as the grilled Calamari. The Ray Wing was very meaty and the sauce was divine! It was drizzled with a buttery, lemon and finished with capers. The meat was so tender and tasty! The grilled calamari was perfectly cooked and tasted fresh. I find it hard to get perfectly cooked fresh calamari at times but this was cooked extremely well! We ordered the garlic slaw and spinach as a side. The special came with unlimited fries. The garlic slaw was very garlicky and highly recommended if you enjoy garlic! I was pleasantly surprised and would revisit without hesitation. Our waitress Claudiu looked after us very well and made our meal even more enjoyable! Thank you for the amazing experience!

As a coeliac, it is so reassuring to know that not only can the whole menu be made gluten-free, but also that staff are hyper-aware of cross-contamination and have protocols in place. It is normally quite stressful to eat out as a Coeliac but Rockfish really make it look easy.Add to that, the food was superb. Thank you.

Disappointing compared to the weymouth branch, good service but slightly mire crowded than the other restaurant with the tables closer together. It was the same great choice of catch of the day but unfortunately the deep fried fish combo was really disappointing as its cooked in rice flour making it dry and tasteless. The salads continue to be over leaf and lacking any substance, definitely opt for a Greek salad if you can much better value and flavour

Very disappointing, great staff, not such great food for the price. The haddock was lovely and the batter spot on the peas were almost cold as was the rather thin and bean curry sauce. The monk fish at £36 was tasteless as was the accompanying sauce. The chips were frozen not fresh so not traditional fish and chip accompaniment. We have been to Rockfish restaurants before and always had a good experience but they seem to have tried to go ‘upmarket’ fish restaurant rather than excellent fish and chips which it always was.

An excellent Gluten Free option! The food was wonderful and the service was personable. A lovely location for an enjoyable dinner.

Fleur served us on our first visit and was absolutely amazing, returned the following evening as we enjoyed the fresh fish so much and weren't disappointed, great food, restaurant is really well presented and clean, lovely staff, would recommend to anyone who enjoys fresh good ingredients cooked simply but well....

We normally eat at Brixham Rockfish but not been there for a while and was in Torquay so thought we’d give this a try. Staff are good, knowledgeable and friendly. Fish was cooked fine, I’d be disappointed if it wasn’t at the price. My biggest issue is that the chips have changed, they used to be amazing, tasty and being unlimited you couldn’t help going back for more and more….BUT… They have changed! They’re now boring, bland, chunky sized oven chips you get in Wetherspoons, no taste or seasoning. A absolutely massive disappointment !! Mr Tonks has put profit over taste and it’s a poor choice!

We had a wonderful experience here on Sunday 28th April. I’d like to pass on our sincerest compliments to Lauren the waitress and wider team that served us Sunday afternoon, we were booked in at 2.45pm after a busy day of exploring the area, Lauren that looked after our table was wonderful, very friendly, helpful and professional. We were only one of two tables dining at the at time as it was between the normal mealtimes, but nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome where in the past other places have either turned us away or been rather hostile when we’ve attempted to dine outside of the busier hours. The restaurant was spotless, the menu so tempting and the food we had delicious! We’re hoping to come back to Torquay in the summer and Rockfish will be top of the list.

This restaurant is amazing. we have been back three times in three months and we dont live locally. I will definitely be booking again. The service is fantastic, the food quality and choice top class and the atmosphere in the restaurant is welcoming and enjoyable. The restaurant is also gluten free, family and dog friendly.

Rockfish and chips, with an added jalapeño tartar sauce, and a mixed vegetable tempura starter. Drink. Ginger beer. Service was good friendly server who provided information on the days specials. I think good value for money and the restaurant is in a good location. Toilets were well stocked and clean.

The staff were lovely and very well mannered.however, what we found very off putting was that we could see the manager smoking outside and when she would come and check on us ( which was too often) she had a very distinctive cigarette smelling breath. Despite this the food was very nice.

We dined at the RockFish last weekend, this was not the first time we have eaten their on our visits to Torquay but we definitely noticed a change, the food was nice, however the cost of eating at RockFish seems to of increased alot which really surprised us and due to this we would not be returning as we felt you can get the same quality food at a much lower price at other places by the marina.

Shocking. Absolutely the ‘WORST’ fish restaurant / chip shop I have ever been to. This establishment charges premium prices, which is a lot higher than the average. I ordered the haddock & chips because I like traditional food, and I was absolutely shocked to be given FROZEN chips, yes frozen chips for a meal costing around £20.00 at somewhere which tries to be premium. It was an absolute disappointment. I would never return again. Disgraceful

This place had hit and miss reviews and we definitely had our reservations if we would enjoy it. Totally honest…. They rocked it out the park. The food was amazing. Starters we had, oysters and scallops! Followed by Devon sole and fish and chips. Cannot fault it one bit. From foodies and a chefs point of view. Service was ok for the young chap that served us. We left with a bottle full of the oyster sauce that we bought. Keep doing what you doing guys! On point. Made our visit to Torquay very pleasant. Thank you so much

After a poor experience at Rockfish I sent an email to the restaurant directly but although it was acknowledged I have never had a response. This adds to our opinion that Rockfish is expensive but unprofessional and poorly run. Spend your money somewhere else!

Went for meal for a birthday treat for my partner, the food was lovely and fresh! Was made to feel welcome and the staff were really helpful and attentive. The seafood was nicely cooked and would defo recommend a visit. The jalepeno tartare sauce was good and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for!!!

Well over priced and misleading on the menu. Selling half of sea bream for £21 disgusting. I complained to the waitress about not saying is only half filet. Sorry I know is very misleading but that's how I comes. No one came to check if the food was OK. When we left totally ignored. Poor service. Highly recommend Amici, Italian restaurant not far from there. Great food and service 👌

Family were agreed this is genuinely by far the best fish (especially) and chips we've had anywhere. First appearances would suggest a typical tourist trap location and on being seated we were initially shocked at the prices. However, it later turns out this company has its own local fishing boat and fishmonger at Brixham harbour - so it's hardly your average chippy and the difference tells. Not the cheapest place in town. But if you feel like treating yourself to ultra fresh, well cooked, and locally sourced then don't hesitate.

Went to the Torquay Rockfish last week with our woofer and had a fab time. The service was amazing and the food just as good. Flo the woofer enjoyed the strokes from the staff and guests and its great to see a small business doing well.

No exaggeration to say Rockfish Torquay is up there with our best-ever dining experiences! We had a good feeling when we had to change dates at short notice, and it was handled in a very friendly and professional way. Yes this was March not high season, but we didn't get the slightest inkling that we were putting anybody out, and I think that says a lot about a person/place. From the brightly painted exterior I was expecting a beach-shack kind of vibe, but inside the decor is more interesting and grownup. You feel you're in the white-painted interior of a boat, complete with authentic decking - but lighter, roomier and more comfortable! The open fire was very welcome on a rainy night, and the background buzz of chatting guests added to the cosy vibe, with no need to shout above clatter (perhaps the wood absorbs a bit of sound?) or intrusive music. Everything that could be branded was, and as an ex-marketing person meself that really appealed! I only wish I could have bought something to take home - like the in-house tinned fish, delicious Sundrop beer and Pescador wine. And that prosecco with the nautilus label, because it looked so pretty :) The food was as we expected from the reviews. Mussels were plump and sweet, gurnard and battered Norwegian rockfish were delicious and perfectly cooked. But star turn for me was the sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream. Not normally something I'd go for (we only wanted to share a pudding, and his nibs won the toss) but, wow. The pudding, soaked in rich toffee sauce, actually melts in the mouth. Indecently good! Final word goes to the front of house staff, who made us feel absolutely at home and in good, experienced and knowledgeable hands. Missing Rockfish already. Lucky south westerners.
