Dean was a very nice and attentive server. The food was good. Delicious home-brewed beer. Beautiful beer garden with a view of the harbor. We'll go there again before we leave.

Visiting the area on holiday with a friend who lives close by, stopped yesterday for a drink, as it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon. A good few choices of alcohol free lagers/IPA's as I was driving, and plenty more that did have! Staff, the atmosphere, and the setting made us want to come back, so we booked a table for the Sunday roast today. What an excellent choice it turned out to be. My friend was using a wheelchair and the access is unbelievably considerate. There is a lift to take you on the top floor so you can still enjoy a fantastic view whilst eating. Everything we had was beautiful, cooked and presented and so very tasty. Thank you to all. Will definitely be back again.

We ordered coffee and the sticky toffee pudding and Victoria sponge. Divine!

Had cajun whitebait, Aberdeen Angus burger and cheeseboard all if which wete delicious. The staff were great and happy to substitute blue cheese for a non blue cheese. Excellent

We have been to Harbour Light twice now and both times we had a lovely time. Dean served us both times and is an incredible waiter. Friendly, helpful and just a wonderful person. He is so welcoming and charming, I would go back again just because of Dean! Thank you for making our night out feel special x

Visited today, very busy. Sat outside, Sunday lunch, chicken, very nice, separate gravy which I love. Fab waitress, highly recommend

When me and my partner arrived we were met with a very friendly, enthusiastic service. The interior/atmosphere was very cosy and romantic, definitely an ideal place to go to with your partner. The food, was absolutely devine. Only thing I could fault if I had to be picky was the rhubarb and ginger cheesecake I had could have done with some sauce/cream as the crumb was quite dry, but it was bursting with flavour and everything else was 11/10. I had the Aberdeen Angus burger and I kid you not the best burger I have ever eaten! For nibbles I’d highly recommend the chorizo bites and hash brown bites…unreal! It exceeded my expectations and even though it was expensive, everything was well worth the price.

Ate here tonight, lovely setting and even better views! Service was excellent and very friendly. We came with a baby and they were very accommodating. Food was fantastic, I had mussels and the wife had steak, both delicious and steak was cooked perfectly.

The special haddock was overcooked very tasty but difficult to disect. The staff were amazing and went out of their way to be helpful. A very pleasant evening. Drinks are quite expensive though.

Had a stumble upon visit to Harbour Light, reassured by the fact it was a St. Austell gaff among the others we had walked past along the sea front. We were served by Dean who was absolutely superb. He was professional and punctual but full of character. I had the moules mariniere, my partner had the Lamb flat bread and the little one a combination of starters. All were perfect. Will definitely be back.

Only had drinks so can't comment on food. I think we did get forgotten about when waiting to order, but it was busy. Great spot in the sun outside.

We found this restaurant two years ago and this amazing food is brilliant. All stuff is nice. I really recommended this with one.

It's a beautiful pub right on the Harbour in Paignton. Wonderful views from upstairs. Unfortunately, you can not take your dog upstairs , but do allow dogs downstairs.. The staff were really friendly, which is a big bonus.. The only reason I gave it a 4 star was that I found my dish to be a little bit salty. I don't know if it was the fish or the sauce, and I would have liked a bit of greenery , like baby broccoli on the side. That will not put me off, and we will definitely visit again.

What a gem of a place to have in Torbay. Stunning views from the balcony seating and an absolute sun trap. First class seafood as it should be on the harbour and the most attentive service with Dean…funny and friendly . Can’t wait to come back and work my way through that menu

Popped in whilst staying the night in Paignton. Good sized portions. Had the fish and chips and I’d give it 3/5. I wasn’t keen on the batter but that could just be me.

Stopped for coffee and cakes and had a very pleasant time. Excellent cakes, Battenberg to die for, even if it wasn’t square!! Liked it so much we’re going back for dinner.

A great pub/restaurant with fantastic food, staff and stunning location. We ate there a couple of times on our week in Goodrington and would highly recommend it. Bonus is its very dog friendly, even providing blankets, plenty of water bowls and snacks for dogs. Thank you to you all for a great experience

Dropped in for lunch as my partner's Birthday treat. We didn't plan it, but had a look for some gluten-free friendly places nearby, as he has been recently diagnosed with coeliac's, and i myself am avoiding gluten. I wanted to wait at few days after to leave a review, to see if my partner has any reaction (normally, he throws up straight away, and then feels sick for several days). He's caught a cold, so unfortunately, my findings aren't conclusive! But, he didn't get sick, and said it was really delicious. The food was brought to us by someone who we think was the chef, as he didn't continue to serve us, making us think this is to lower the risk of cross-contamination or miscommunication. Altogether the food was wonderful, and the service was top notch. We came here before, and we will be back again soon!

Harbor lights had a gluten free menu, which i appreciate as I have celiac disease. Food was lovely, the service was even better. Would highly recommend.

Was a wonderful experience and we visited twice in 2 days. The upstairs restaurant has wonderful views but we also enjoyed downstairs. The service was fantastic as was the food. My vegie partner felt the vegie pea ravioli was one of the best restaurant vegie meals ever! Sunday lunch was also excellent. But staff were so helpful and friendly.

We were 3 ladies that lunched on Thursday March 13th. We are regulars & always enjoy the food, atmosphere & service. We had the most delicious lunch of lobster starter & for main sole on a bed of crushed cornish potatoes & lobster & muscle sauce. The dark chocolate profiterole torte was divine! Am always happy to recommend this venue as always enjoy the whole experience & the food, ambience & service is amazing. Here's to the next one!!

Everything was fine but I couldn’t believe that a cafe serving alcohol and a pretty full menu had no toilet. I was told to use the public toilet across the road and pay 30p for the pleasure!!

Visited on 24 Feb from Bridgwater had two different lagers and cod chips and minty peas The staff really friendly they talk to you even if they are busy you don't get that everywhere ! My only two slight niggles are toilets are upstairs and anyone with breathing issues like me may find this a bit of a struggle and also not many choices of lagers but I'm just being picky 🤣Lovely staff and lovely atmosphere right on the harbour side and pooch friendly I will certainly be visiting again soon

Amazing venue. Views were beautiful. Ambience upstairs was warm and welcoming (my kids loved the fairy lights!). Friendly, welcoming and attentive staff. Clean environment. Food was amazing but we wanted more! Kids loved their giant sundaes. If there was a 'negative', we wanted to give the waitress a more generous tip but this was not an option on the card machine... we don't carry much cash these days!

Absolutely fabulous roast today - thick slices of lamb leg, beautifully cooked potatoes and I'd recommend getting extra cauliflower cheese as its delightful. Beautiful setting and great service. Highly recommend

Been a few times always good. Last night the food was poor. The leak and potato soup was dreadful, the hamburger was dry and burnt. Very expensive for very poor food. Not sure what's changed but I will not be visiting again.

We went last night with our parents on their anniversary. Staff very friendly and welcoming, lovely venue, warm, trendy and attractive lighting and lovely setting. Food very tasty with good choice. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Keep up the good work.

A perfectly OK pub menu and if you are looking for that you will be generally happy. But don't expect much more, even if the website and menu suggests more. Very good location.

Music nite a disaster! The lady on keyboards might well have been OK, but was so loud it was unpleasant. We were upstairs and still had trouble communicating over the roar from below. Otherwise food and service was great.

This was not our first visit, and it certainly won't be our last! Staff always welcoming and attentive, food never disappoints. Only negative tonight was that when the bill came it stated allergies "No" but we were never asked the question at any point!

Went for a family meal, to celebrate my birthday. Absolutely outstanding, in all areas. Menu variation, standard of service, quality of food just fantastic & portion sizes were great. I'd give 6 stars if I could. Had shared starters of chorizo bites, hash brown bites & soda bread, which were all lovely. Venison shoulder was delicious, ribeye steak was perfect and the scampi was superb. Somehow we managed to finish off with brownies...even they were perfect!!

Beautiful surroundings and the food was amazing. Best roast beef we've ever had when eaten out. Only small issue was the unpleasant smell as soon as you enter the building and it doesnt really fade. There were also very sticky tables which need a good scrub. But that hasn't phased us and we can't wait to return.

Second visit yo this lovely pub whilst visiting Paignton. Again, food was delicious and staff were very friendly. It's such a welcoming, cosy pub and the terrace overlooking the harbour is gorgeous. Child friendly too. Will definitely return next time we are in the area!

First class fish and chips. Perfect crunchy batter, fish fresh and moist. Mushy peas and Tartar appear to be made in house. Chips as chips should be, crisply on the outside, light and fluffy in the middle . After stopping for a couple of pints in the bar downstairs, I decided to eat and was accomodated on a particular table which I requested for the view upstairs. Lovely friendly staff. Also I noticed they have AC so would be a great place to cool off in summer heat. Enjoyed the chilled out lounge music, so much better than pop music belting out like most places.

A Group of 7 of us came for Christmas 🎄lunch on Christmas day. Very disappointed 😞 the food was not hot. Potatoes tasted warmed up and turkey was watery and not good. Our first time in your beautiful Restaurant but sorry very disappointed.

Lovely restourant, we were served by Dean, so lovely and gentle. The food was so good, i gave 4 cause the pasta for the baby was too cooked. For the rest was very tasty and fresh. The best vish pie i had.

Visited for a short festive break. Food atmosphere and staff here are fabulous. Value and choice even as a vegetarian is great. So fabulous visited again the next day twice - once for cake and coffee and then for an evening meal. Staff make this place with happy to see you nothing is a problem attitude. Always our go to place when visiting

We have been here a few times, hoping the service would improve. The staff need full training in customer services. They ignore you and you have to chase after them for service.

Had a wonderful meal here on Christmas Eve. The food was superb 👌 the mussels the best I have had. Service was great and we had a lovely time. Very dog friendly providing blankets for them to lay on 🥰 shame we don't live nearer otherwise we would be a regular. Thank you for a lovely meal.

We had a large group of people food took almost 2 h to arrive after ordering and it wasn’t even busy food was ok but not worth it. There were singers but they were unprepared

This was the time we had had lunch in a restaurant on Christmas. The food was delicious the service was first rate and the vibe was warm and Christmassy. I will keep checking for the first online opportunity to book Christmas lunch 2025. Thank you

We enjoyed our Boxing Day table service fish & chips. Warm welcome for our dogs, with fresh water and dog bowls (self-service). Staff are helpful, kind and quick to serve.

Visited as part of a trip to ride the Train of Lights, and booked for a Christmas dinner at Harbour Light beforehand. Upon arrival we were booked in by a very charming staff member who took us to our table and we were struck by how attractive the building was and by what a lovely atmosphere there was. Our starter arrived and was fine but I have to say that our main course was probably the worst and most disappointing plate of food I have ever encountered. The brussel sprouts were not just al dente, but actually hard, whilst the cauliflower cheese was basically undercooked and crunchy cauliflower drizzled with a little cheese sauce. Quite how the cook managed to produce roast potatoes that were devoid of any flavour or enjoyment is beyond me but somehow they managed it, presumably using the same skill set or lack thereof to produce slices of turkey that included copious amounts of cartilage and/or gristle. Having already politely informed the waiting staff, who were terribly apologetic, that the side vegetables were inedible, we didn't have the heart to tell them just how appalling the rest of the meal was when we were asked; we simply paid our bill and left. £84 for two starters, two main courses and a bottle of house wine is not unrealistic in this day and age, but for that I expect the food to be prepared to at the very least to a basic standard. The food we were subjected to at Harbour Light was truly, truly awful and not something we would ever wish to experience again. We suggest that whoever was responsible for producing that food take up an alternative career - mixing cement perhaps, or perhaps catering as a form of punishment for serious criminals. Never, ever again

Went for a Xmas meal with staff. Food was beautiful and good portions. Sadly took a long time to get the food initially and in between courses were extremely long. But if that is because it was busy then I will take that. Food was worth the wait. Thank you

We visited the restaurant whilst we’re on a mini break with our puppy. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming, they brought a blanket over for our girl to lie on & were so helpful and attentive. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend visiting here!

Always make a beeline for this place whenever we visit. Stunning food for a decent price, very well plated and the atmosphere at Christmas especially is so well done. Lots of effort put in. Perfect balance of cosy local restaurant with a gorgeous seafront view and classy food.

One of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The scampi was great too, along a fresh Proper Job IPA. Great service too, highly recommended.

Great location and a nice drop of Big Job

Visited on the 9th November 2024. This is the 2nd time we have been to this restaurant and the 2nd time we have had fabulous food. Took the in-laws with us this time as it was to celebrate my birthday. My father in law had the cauliflower soup starter ( on our recommendation as we'd had it on a previous occasion), and he couldn't praise it highly enough. Mum in law enjoyed her Crab starter and Hubby said that the mussels were some of the tastiest he had ever had, and loaded with sauce. The Venison dish was beautifully cooked and presented, and hubby and I savoured the taste. In fact all the dishes we had, down to the cheese board, were fabulous and compliments were passed to the chef/s. As well as beers and spirits there are a good selection of wines available and there is nothing better than a good palatable bottle of wine when enjoying high quality food. We had such a fab meal, with good comany and in a fabulous restaurant. We did leave a gratuity and were delighted to hear that gratuities are are divided between all staff including the chefs. We look forward to travelling back to Paignton next year to enjoy another meal at Harbour Light. Thank you to everyone . Lindsey Williams

Wonderful staff; warm, friendly, and super helpful. I went early on a blustery, quiet Sunday afternoon and ate delicious pigeon breast and mussels. There’s a lovely view of the waves curling into the beach from upstairs, and the seats are so comfortable I could have stayed all evening.

A few years ago, when St. Austell Brewery renovated the old pub into the Harbour light there was a palpable sense of excitement as Paignton desperately needed a more upscale pub and eatery. Sadly my initial experience was not good and certainly not worthy of the level of excellence I expected from St. Austell Brewery. That was a few years ago. I had to attend to a personal tragedy back in the US and returned in November 2024. To celebrate my return and as a token of appreciation for my UK friends we went out for a Friday night dinner at the HL. The dining experience was considerably improved. The welcoming ambience by the host augured a wonderful evening and the place was warm and nicely lit. We were lead to the first floor dining area. The servers were very personable and knowledgeable regarding what wine would accompany our meal. We had starters, all of which were prepared to perfection and did not overwhelm the main meal. The menu offering was straight forward and unassuming, yet the meals were perfect in their portions and presentation. Desert was a perfect ending and I would recommend the sticky toffee pudding. This is now my go to establishment for all my future celebrations and casual meals. It should be yours and you will not be disappointed. Bon appétit!

Visited on a rainy and miserable Saturday, was greeted at the door by a very friendly member of staff, who passed us onto Benji who serviced us for our visit. The restaurant was very clean and had a very nice atmosphere. Benji and the rest of the team were very friendly and recommended some great choices (truffle chips were delicious 🔥) despite the atrocious weather we had a wonderful time and will be back again!
