Crispins Fish & Chips in Torbay

Haven’t been for a while because my grumble is I really don’t like the batter… it’s very very thick, not like traditional fish and chip fluffy, light batter so it’s too heavy for me. HOWEVER you cannot beat their chips. Such chippy chips! Still in the wrapper (swear adds to flavour) and the portions are considerably big compared to many other takeouts in the bay, prices just can’t be beaten here for your portion size. Chips cooked perfectly everytime.

Very rude and unprofessional staff. Shouting heard from the kitchen inside of the restaurant. Workers smoking out front and then I saw one man go straight back in and handle food. Absolutely ridiculous. This place needs their food hygiene rating getting rid of.

Having had a good day out around Torquay, we fancied fish and chips, but where? There was a fish and chip shop at the top of our road, where we were staying. Mid-afternoon I went to look at it. Speaking to a local,the lady recommended Crispins, which was a 5-8 minute walk away. I phoned Crispins and asked about sitting in(at no extra cost) and said I had been recommended to you by a local. She was polite and said to" come any time, and we hope to look after you". We sat down at six in the evening. I ordered a large Cod, Chips,and mushy peas. My wife had medium of the same. As an "add on" I was asked if I wanted Salad and Slaw which I had at no extra cost. The food was hot, and plentiful, I was even asked if I wanted more Chips which I declined. All the Staff where very polite and made us welcome, the food was piping hot(how I like it) and all areas where very clean. The both of us left the premises very satisfied. Highly recommend.

Although it was very busy, and my order was cooked from scratch, they all work like a well oiled machine. And I had my order within 10 minutes. The food was good.

This was the worst kabab we have had in our lives. Firstly I wondered why my wrapper was wet and when I opened it, I discovered so much grease everywhere. They did a slap-dosh quick-job and chucked a chunk of meat into a pitta bread and it was still swimming in grease. The tomatoes were all greasy. I couldn't even wash my hands after I had eaten, they had so much thick grease on them, I had to use kitchen towelling to rub all my hands down. I haven't been here for a few months and can see how standards have slipped. I wonder what my insides are experiencing now.

I've been going to Crispin's since they opened I have found this the best chippy for us a variety of food and staff are amazing and the owners They recently donated a family pizza meal for my breast cancer tea afternoon What great staff ignore all the horrible negative comments never had any problems my self in the years I've been going to this place Well done guys keep up the great work I even moved further away and still come back to this chippy always

Was in the area so decided to collect my usual pizza instead of having a delivery now I understand why the pizza is so Pasteles never have I ever been into it a pizza shop and not smell the fruit smell of garlic in the air until I went to this place

Wow great fish and chips also lovely double chicken burgers too! Staff very friendly despite being incredibly busy - I can highly recommend this chippy!! They take cards but after paying I noticed they prefer cash to avoid bank fees, will try to remember next time!

Lovely pizza can't wait to return! Ordered a small Napoli (Ham, salami and mushrooms) was fresh, hot a had a good amount of toppings and crispy base. Great service too from 2 Italian ladies and Cassie. Would recommend collecting as also had a delivery a few weeks later and it was a completely different experience and pizza (not in a good way) so go and collect

Just my taste not my type of chips and had better fish

Very nice pizza but the chips were the same colour as the paper (white) which really disappointed me. As it was raining I never took the chips back. Disappointed

If you want soggy food and rude service I recommend you go here. We arrived 25 minutes before closing time and were asked to move whilst we waited to be served so that they could hoover. We were waiting to be served because the woman behind the till was busy on her phone! The food was soggy and after a few mouthfuls it went into the bin….. hard earned wages will not be wasted again here 🙄😭

Have been visiting Crispin's for a very long time. Great menu choice. Offer free delivery. Always a friendly atmosphere and fabulous hard working staff. Food is always great.

First time here, fish n chips were really good. A bit pricey for a take away.

Decent chippy/cafe. Fish cooked to order, batter on 1 of the cods wasn't the best but good peas, curry sauce and chips. Average prices and lovely staff. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Good food and polite, attentive service. There's a useful, smaller cone of chips option. I got 2 free sauces with my fishcakes and chips. I ate in, and was offered more free chips after finishing my original portion! Highly recommended 👍

Fantastic kebab. Not overpriced as most kebabs are these days You get choice of a free large bottle of fizzy drink or a garlic bread w cheese if you spend over £20 Photos don’t look the best but tasted great 👍

Absolutely Wonderful friendly people, nothing was too much trouble and the food was fantastic, we loved it there, we sat in to eat our food, on 2 visits while we were down Torquay on holiday, by the time we left, it felt like we leaving being friends! Loved it! Ron and Angie!

Stumbled upon this little gem of a takeaway last week. They offer a huge range of food including vegan options. Food was incredibly nice and fresh. Staff were friendly and efficient.

I've been using Crispins for at least 10 years and as a creature of habit my order has pretty much stayed the same over that time. But why have I been going there and ordering the same thing for so long? It's their kebab. It can't be beaten. The donna kebab is a 10/10 which I can't fault in any way. Kebab, large chips, curry sauce, perfect. I have tried other kebabs in the Torbay area in extreme circumstances, but all that has proved is how good Crispins is. Long may it continue its excellent all-round service.

Best fish and chip shop in Torquay. They never seem to let you down no matter what you get. Excellent menu as well so plenty of variety.

Only problem I've found with Crispins is they only do one size kebab...no small or large just one size which is to small for my liking. The food is always nice though

Forget the others.......this is the takeaway you need.....kebabs,burgers chicken,pizza,fish and chips ,pies, sausages.... .etc etc.....it's the best in town and the staff are lovely.....👍👍👍👍👍

Just been to Crispins which we do regulary, normaly on a friday night ordered large chios with Haddock and got in my opuon compared to previous times a STANDARD !!! Plenty of other chippies around regret won't be using them ever again sorry to say VERY DISSAPOINTED

Have used Crispins for fish and chips for many years. Had fish and chips last night and the batter on the fish was disgraceful. It tasted like Yorkshire soft pudding on fish. It was not crispy and was disgusting the small amount of fish. Chips were pretty bad too. Will not use again

The call was frustrating as my phone was dying with poor signal, once switched back on charge they had tried calling back which is good; I returned the call and the guy who took the call seem genuine and very happy to help, always a plus for us customers rather than the rushed, blunt types elsewhere. Food is great as always never a complaint with the quality of fish, chips and curry sauce. Cheers guy. Best prices too!

My daughter called into this shop to order fish and chips for the family. The shop appears to be under new management. As a pensioner I was very pleased that you could order small portions. On arriving home the packs of fish and chips were warm and very tasty. Everybody enjoyed their packs. Note that fish and chips vary so you might not like what I like.

The worst chippy I have had!.... Th staff can't keep up with the orders waited half hour for sausage and chips.... Would not recommend

Hadn't planned to visit this plaice (sorry but had to go for it...) but did not regret it. Quick and speedy service at not a bad price whatsover for the plenty of food delivered. My wife enjoyed it so much that we will be returning if we're ever back in Torquay!

If you like waiting around 40 mins for your fish and chips when they tell you it'll only be 10 then this is the place for you. I dont rate places like this. Lazy

There is a good reason why this place has been around for a while. Very good menu great food with a quick delivery I have never had a order wrong and the price is brilliant.

Even with the tremendous pressure they are under at the moment,we have NEVER been let down,always delivered on time, piping hot,and always very tasty

Called in for fish and chips , asked the lady for 'loads' of salt and vinigar, she shouted the order down the line but didnt mention the salt and vinigar so i asked again. 10 minutes later the lady at the other end called out my order and i said to the one who took the order 'Can you make sure there is loads of salt and vinigar please' and she nodded. Wife drove home and i opened my fish and chips .....virtually no salt and vinigar ...how hard can it be to listen to a customer and do what they ask ? Fish was nice and white but i gave up half way thru as i do like salt and vinigar and lots of it!

So yet again the wrong order, one medium chips to share between 3 of us and that wasn't a generous portion either. Called but no answer, first take away since this started, what a let down, not to mention paying for what we didn't get.

First time ordered from here . Had cod n chips , rock and chips and southern fried chicken. We paid on the phone by card . All delivered in reasonable time ,nicely presented and very tasty. Delivery person had mask and gloves on due to the corona virusWill definitely use this chip shop again

Fantastic! From taking my order to the eating. We ordered here for the first time this evening and could not be happier. Honestly I havnt eaten a decent kebab lately (and I have had a few) , this was up there with the best, lamb not dry at all, the chicken was packed with flavour and there was plenty of it. The kids meals are amazing. Came in a Mcdonalds type of box which our 5 year old loved, also a craft pack, to keep her entertained. All delivered within the hour. You guys are doing a great job and have found your selves another regular customer. Thankyou

AMAZING! Great people who make DELICIOUS food! Im telling you, the BEST fish and chips ive EVER had! There Chips a soft but with a crispy/crunchy edging BUT not too crunchy (like when all the potato is gone an you crack a tooth) also incredibly fluffy on the inside and the fish just WOW! Succulent and juicy! Im FOREVER a Crispins Member! Also, there fish in the tank LOVE me too, always following me 🙈😂
