Crispins Fish & Chips in Torbay

Have used Crispins for fish and chips for many years. Had fish and chips last night and the batter on the fish was disgraceful. It tasted like Yorkshire soft pudding on fish. It was not crispy and was disgusting the small amount of fish. Chips were pretty bad too. Will not use again

The call was frustrating as my phone was dying with poor signal, once switched back on charge they had tried calling back which is good; I returned the call and the guy who took the call seem genuine and very happy to help, always a plus for us customers rather than the rushed, blunt types elsewhere. Food is great as always never a complaint with the quality of fish, chips and curry sauce. Cheers guy. Best prices too!

My daughter called into this shop to order fish and chips for the family. The shop appears to be under new management. As a pensioner I was very pleased that you could order small portions. On arriving home the packs of fish and chips were warm and very tasty. Everybody enjoyed their packs. Note that fish and chips vary so you might not like what I like.

Hadn't planned to visit this plaice (sorry but had to go for it...) but did not regret it. Quick and speedy service at not a bad price whatsover for the plenty of food delivered. My wife enjoyed it so much that we will be returning if we're ever back in Torquay!

Even with the tremendous pressure they are under at the moment,we have NEVER been let down,always delivered on time, piping hot,and always very tasty

Called in for fish and chips , asked the lady for 'loads' of salt and vinigar, she shouted the order down the line but didnt mention the salt and vinigar so i asked again. 10 minutes later the lady at the other end called out my order and i said to the one who took the order 'Can you make sure there is loads of salt and vinigar please' and she nodded. Wife drove home and i opened my fish and chips .....virtually no salt and vinigar ...how hard can it be to listen to a customer and do what they ask ? Fish was nice and white but i gave up half way thru as i do like salt and vinigar and lots of it!

First time ordered from here . Had cod n chips , rock and chips and southern fried chicken. We paid on the phone by card . All delivered in reasonable time ,nicely presented and very tasty. Delivery person had mask and gloves on due to the corona virusWill definitely use this chip shop again

Eat in or eat out fish and chip shop.Went in here on a recommendation from the b&b i was staying in and wasn't disappointed.several tables to eat in which i did,staff polite and friendly. Tables clean. Ordered small cod and chips which was more enough for me (god knows how big the large one would be) good price too. The chips were cooked well not loads of crispy bits either. The fish was lovely and well cooked the batter was crispy not greasy or soggy just really nice.Service was with a smile was asked when given food if everything was ok plus halfway through as well,it felt like they wanted to make sure everything was ok which was good. Throughly enjoyed it would go back again.

We have been away on our first cruise,and although the food was amazing,they couldn't match Crispins for fish n chips. Very glad to be back.

I have always been pleased with the food and service at Crispins. At times I have been more satisfied with the food than others admittedly, however there can be various reasons for this, such as how busy they are at the time that you order or perhaps how fresh the fish is, if it is fish that you are going for (just an example). All I am saying is that there are many factors that come into play when talking about more than one experience of a place.It is a family run business and they really are lovely. It is clear that they work very hard and take pride in the place. There isn't anything on the menu that I would recommend in particular as all of it is really good. I must admit I am a big fan of the chips so I will big them up!I would definately reccomend them to anyone looking for a good chippy and I will certainly be returning for more delicious takeaways! On our two week visit to Torquay we visited on three occasions, the value for money is tremendous and the food is served very quickly,, this family run business never fails to amaze us all, and I repeat to all who visit this site to try Crispin's.

For the half term break we went to Torquay . Our travelodge was close to Crispins fish and chips. The quality and value of the food was of a high standard. My daughter was amazed at the grease free chips. We sat in to have our meal on three nights. The venue is the cleanest and most hygienic we've seen. The staff were attentive to all our needs. They even recommended sightseeing venues. A special thanks to Tony for his perfectly cooked fish and signature kebabs. A must for those staying at the Travelodge or visiting Torre Abbey. Enjoy!

We found Crispins in October 2016 and loved the food. Fish and chips are fantastic at a reasonable price,and since both my wife and I are disabled an extra added bonus us :they deliver free(one of the very few chippies we've encountered that do)!

Wow we use Crispen often and to see some one slate them is so wrong.

Wow never had service like this before. Food was hardly even warm so called to complain and ask for it to be collected and refunded.

Placed order to pick up was told 20 minutes. Arrived and paid and recieved my food straight away. Quick service. Got home and it's probably the best takeaway me and my partner have had in a long time. He had a mixed kebab and I had a chicken, sweetcorn and ham pizza. Delicious and will definitely be returning

Great diverse menu, food was awesome,best I've tasted from a chippy in a long time. Like the fact they advertise what oil they use and where the fish etc comes from. Reasonable prices, and well worth the drive to get them from paignton...was still hot when we got home, as they wrapped it so well. As I said before...delicious!!!

We are regulars at Crispins Fish & Chips practically every Friday night we have our delivery of food delivered to our front door hot and on time. We have NEVER been disappointed .

Took the short walk to this fish and chips bar, where I had the most beautiful fish and chips I have had for a long time. Fish was to die for, and for a medium portion, they would be large where I live. Very good.

We went to Crispins yesterday for the first time,to have eat in fish chips and mushy peas.Though it was very busy,and obviously very popular with the locals,we were greeted by by the staff in a very warm and friendly manner.Our order was taken,then we sat down at one of the tables, soon after our meal arrived,it was piping hot,well presented.It was cooked too perfectly,and we thoughely enjoyed it.So much so we are going again tonight.A big thanks to all the staff,from Bernice and Peter

I just love this place, used to go here years ago when I lived with my grandparents.. left the country, grew up and had kids, found it again and thought “well give it a go for old time sake” this was a year ago, we go now every time, my girls always get a lolly and a smile from the lady serving, always really nice, nicely priced because they are great portions and guess what... they come in paper! They have that old school lovely fish and chip taste with the best curry sauce ever. True fish and chips in my opinion, hard to find these days. Never had a bad meal, we come from st Mary church where there are loads around us but no way near as nice as here.

Been using them for ages before realizing tomorrow is a new taste happen to be in the store in an even friends with garlic and your foxy put some garlic in the sauce

Our regular carry out food establishment, we don't always choose fish and chips so we try the various other items like raps and kebabs or pies or hot dogs and beefburgers,delivery is free and if you spend over a certain amount you receive a free item of your choice,worth a visit highly recommend.

Very good batter on the cod but the fish was a little dry. Good chips, plentiful, too plentiful in fact and we'd go again on a Monday night when our local is closed. Friendly staff and they have an eat-in as well as a takeaway.

We live near Crispins and normally visit it once a week on a Friday and the quality and service is first class. A great example of the superb service they offer was on show on Friday 2nd March. I had phoned in our order and my wife and I walked around to collect and pay, once we got home we found a piece of small Cod was missing from our order ! I duly phoned up and they apologised ,within 10 mins A gentleman had dropped a piping hot piece of cod round to us ! I phoned up to thank them 10/10

The food the staff is fantastic in here and they are all so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much for them and it's great too see. Maybe some of these top resturants and hotels should take advice from them

Mary and I were out shopping, and stopped at Crispins to give our Friday order.Two ladies behind the counter actually recognised my voice ( we normally order by phone) I was amazed, When delivered spot on time 6 O'Clock,up to usual high standard Well done again.

Excellent food and an excellent service from a family run chppy, even when they're busy. their fish is the best you'll find anywhere and not just Torquay and their prices very fair so as an all round service, you won't find better anywhere

We often use this chippy as it’s our local, the staff are very friendly And helpful and the food is very good. What let’s it all down though and makes it quicker to drive to another town is the way it’s all run, someone takes your order, the order is then read out by someone sat on the original persons shoulder and so on. It gets worse When they’re busy.

We arrived very tired after travelling from Norfolk.The people at Crispins made us so welcome,what lovely people they were.Fish and chips were some of the best we have had and on top of that we got a free litre of drink on pop.I know they were not far off closing the son even went and cut us more fish.We thank you from the bottom of our hearts we went to bed not hungry or thirsty.I promised we would come back but we ran out of time to return.Just like to say that you were the nicest people we met in Torquay.Long may you reign.

This was one of the best fish and chips I have had, lovely fish with not too much batter, My grandson who is an adult had jumbo sausages and chips and thoroughly enjoyed his meal' The guy delivering was a happy chappy which is always a bonus. Will be back definitely.

I again visited CRISPENS F&chip; shop this week end it was my first stop after driving 6hrs to get to Torquay.

After reading good reviews we decided to give this place a try. We are glad we did, as we had a really nice meal. There are a few indoor tables so we could eat in. Fish and chips tasted fresh and at a good price too. We are a family of four with 2 kids and was offered a FREE extra portion of chips as they could see we was enjoying them so much. You can tell they are popular as telephone orders were non stop and the staff were frantically trying to keep up with the demand.. Apart from them being really busy they were very friendly and made us feel welcome.

Forget your BBQ we have friends around for a swim tonight, and they all agreed Crispins is a must. Terrific service, and great food.

We were not too hungry when we arrived, but after a few plates we realised this was no ordinary Fish & Chip Shop. The fish was excellent with a nice thin dry batter, with the fish tasting of the sea. The chips were crispy and golden. I think that it was one of the best Fish and Chips I have ever had. The staff were very proud of their work which augurs well for their future customers.

Today I telephoned at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon!! and spoke to a lady who actually apologised for not been able to answer our phone call !!. She suggested that I call at 3.30. in future to make sure of our order,also gave me her mobile. We have ordered in a number of times as their fish&chips; are fantastic,as are their Scampi. Their pizzas aren't quite as nice as some of the big American chains like Dominoes or Papa Johns but aren't to shabby at all(good just different than the chains). Big thumbs up for fast delivery for great food at reasonable prices. 10-star outa 5!

We found crispins on Google maps was walking distance from our b&b.; Great little find. If we had been in Torquay longer we would have been back for second or third visit for sure. Crispins is a takeaway fish n chips but offer a wide menu I had cod n chips good portions very reasonable prices. My other half had hungry man meal huge burger and chips a drink and a massive portion of black forest gateau. All nicely cooked added bonus of being able to eat in as there were a couple of tables available. Staff were very friendly. Highly recommended.

We normally use the delivery service which takes about an hour which we dont mind as the food is always great.

This shop is a family tradition each year when we visit Torquay and last night did not fail us!!!!!! we have had 4 kids vaired ages and always as a traditional visit during or holidays visit this superb establishment. THE STAFF ARE INCREDIBLE.nothing is too much trouble. we visited at the end of the night and their faces were styill happy and smiling. THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! this is without a doubt the best fish and chip shop in the south

The best chippy around, well worth the visit. Wide range on the menu. Loved the jackets potatoes and fresh prepared pizza. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Very reasonably priced.

Everybody in Torquay goes on about Hanburys being the best chippy. WRONG Get yourself over to Crispins. Lovely staff, really friendly - and more importantly - BANGIN FISH N CHIPS.
