We ate here twice whilst visiting for a few days and this was by far the best place we ate at and was the best fish n chips we have had in a long time... fish n chips as it should be. Can't wait to come back.

Had a really nice dinner here. The best fish soup I ever had. It was a starter, but the portion was huge that I couldn't finish my main. I highly recommend 👌 ☺️

We had a regular cod and regular chips here. The fish was beautifully cooked, a generous size and really delicious. The chips were average but not greasy, which I liked. The prices were reasonable too. The service and cleanliness was great.

The best measure of any establishment is how they deal with problems. When we told them there was a problem with a part of our meal they dealt with it quickly and apologised. Very impressed.

The fillet cod and chips lunch rates as one of the best we have had anywhere, home, or abroad. The quality of the cod superb and the chips perfect. Service was excellent and the girls were friendly and courteous. Thoroughly recommended...

I have never been inspired to write any reviews before but last night, Simply Fish in Brixham, Devon served an exceptional experience! On arrival at the very busy restaurant we were greeted with a very welcoming smile and immediately shown to our pre-booked table. While ordering our food we asked if we could move tables as one by the front window had been vacated. No problem at all said our very attentive waitress. Our first courses arrived, mushrooms on toast and pan fried king prawns. Absolutely delicious especially the mushroom cream sauce that was made with luxurious Cornish Trewithen Double Cream. A definite hint about the quality of ingredients used throughout. Our main courses then arrived, Prime Fillet of Fish with Double Cooked Chips and from the specials board, Skate Wings with Caper Butter Sauce and again the Double Cooked Chips. Once again, the taste and flavour of superb fresh ingredients flooded through, exceptional! And a special mention for the best chips I’ve ever tried, full of flavour and so so crispy - really yummy! Did I mention how attentive the staff were, nothing was too much trouble for them even though the restaurant was full. I really cannot recommend Simply Fish enough. Try it yourself and I hope you enjoy the same outstanding experience that we did.

I had chicken bites, Partner had cod and the grandparents had scallops, everything was nice and hot and not overly greasy. Not the cheapest but nothing is nowadays. It's also open until 9pm even though the website says 7pm we almost didn't go because of that.

An ex fisherman of Brixham recommended the restaurant and he was not wrong. We tried a mix of starters including the oysters and scallops and that was really nice and then scate wings for main, which was again really good. Nice portion sizes and the cost was very reasonable. Service from the staff was attentive and and no criticism from us what so ever. Certainly would return.

Love this place. Down here every few months and it's a must for us. Both the regular menu and the specials board cover just about everything. Couple of options for the non fish fans too.

Stunning piece of battered hake from the takeaway yesterday. The fish tasted incredibly fresh and flaky in a light crispy batter. I would not eat Hake unless it was grilled and in a sauce, but this was lovely. Really nice double cooked chips. Great value.

What a delicious birthday lunch at Simply on Sunday.. Fish soup, scallop mornay, followed by the special of the day which was a whole brill served with Boulangere potatoes.. Absolutely delicious 😋 Great choice of wines too. We chose a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, which paired really well. Friendly, cheerful, attentive staff in lovely chilled out surroundings. The staff in this chippy are amazing, I have ordered from here twice in this past week, both times being greeted with a smile by the lovely cashier ladies. They were very flexible and accommodating with the changes we had with our order (we are a family full of picky eaters) so very grateful for that. One night i had the sausage in batter with a side of chips, portions were very good and would fill up anyone. The other night i had the cow town burger, it was amazing, it was so filling and cooked to perfection. I do only have one negative about this place which is the fact that the fish burger (which we ordered on the first night) looked like it was slapped together, im not sure if that occurred during the transport back to our accommodation or within the shop, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back again where they did not fail to amaze us and satisfy our hungry tummies.

I have this place a 5* review wayyyyyy back in 2016. Almost 8 years to the day we returned and, honestly, if I could give it six stars, I would! It’s a regular fish and chip shop but it’s also a stylish restaurant serving a few fishy dishes - beautifully. I don’t want to sound like a pretentious numpty, but I really savoured every delicious mouthful of the best battered fish I have ever had. The missus had unbattered fish with the most amazing butter and caper sauce which I shall be having next time. ADDED TO THAT is the wonderful decor, the lovely staff - and they are fantastic! Then there’s the little touches, the mayo served in little Wilkin & Sons pots, a good and reasonably priced wine list and did I mention the staff? Simply Fish, simply the best (I’m very proud of that).

Fish burger (see photo) was very disappointing. Unclear what it was even, didn't finish it. Food in restaurant looked much better prepared.

Did a Google search for good fish and chip shops in Brixham and this place rated high, so we thought we’d give it a go. Got seated quickly by the attentive staff. Quick look at the menu and we ordered. Waited for around 10 minutes for food, certainly no longer, very good service. The food came quickly and it looked delicious. We both ordered cod and chips which came with Tartar sauce and a quarter of lemon. Nice size piece of fish and just enough chips. I don’t know if the fish was local fresh or not but I’d imagine it was, wherever it was from it was lovely. The batter was just light enough but not too light to be tasteless. The sauce was great. I ordered mine with mushy peas which were very nice too, my partner ordered hers with curry sauce, which she really enjoyed (there’s enough in a pot for two people). All in all a very good experience and would absolutely recommend this restaurant.

Expensive for what you get and the waitresses wasn’t very welcoming. Also tried to make me and my partner pay twice.

We have never had a bad experience here. The food is fantastic. Being at a town like Brixham is not just about fish and chips, Simply are so much more. Try the mussels, try the skate push for a lobster and what about scallops and oysters, open your mind to what is on offer. Keep it up Simply you are the best.

Food is good but staff is inexperienced and doesn’t know how to welcome clients. Staff are teenagers/ young adults with no qualification to serve clients used to a high standard service. I felt very uncomfortable with the way I was received in this restaurant.

The fish was 10/10 and the chips were 8/10 Curry sauce was 9/10 All said it's definitely a place worth trying Brilliant food 😋 👌 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻

Nice looking place, unfortunately that's where it ends for me. Visited today for the first time and won't be going back. £57 for two adults to leave hungry is not great. Fish and chips, hardly any fish in the batter and a very very small portion of chips, so essentially batter and chips. Burger and very small portion of chips, burger had a weird grey colour to it and wasn't pleasant tasting so after 2 small bites it was left, chips tasted really oily. I was wondering why that establishment was very quiet when I visited and everywhere else was busy, wish I had waited elsewhere. Maybe it was a bit of an off day but sadly I left feeling hungry and ripped off. Edit - answer to owner! Yes ripped off as it was inedible and disgusting for OVER £57!! 3 meals, one childs meal and 3 cokes. 1 meal hardly eaten!

Very good portions, lovely fish and chips. The only things was the slaw, which had way too much mayonnaise in it

Best fish and chips i’ve had in a long time

Food was lovely, beautiful fresh fish, desserts were delicious too. We were able to take our dog in too which helps when on a holiday as this can be an obstacle sometimes.

Yummy chips and the fish was nice, but unfortunately both were overcooked. Appeared to all be good quality fresh ingredients, just look elsewhere for carefully grilled sole.

Drive specially from Torquay to come here. Checked website said open till 9pm arrived and chef shouted to waitress tell them takeaway only even though she was servi g customers! Won't bother coming back! 😡

Who wants fish and chips that been kept in the warmer, no not us. What a delight to walk in and order your takeaway fish and chips from fresh. Takeaway or restaurant this place (pardon the pun) knows what they are doing.

We had a lovely meal here at lunchtime. The service was good and the portions generous. My husband had the skate wing which was delicious and at about £22 good value. My daughter’s lunchtime special was plaice and was very nice and plenty big enough.

We got a boat over from Torquay to explore Brixham, the one thing we wanted to try was the fish and chips. We come across this restaurant that looked clean and friendly. We walked in to see if there was a table available, was told yes as there seemed to be lots of spaces. The table was clean and the food that was coming out looked fresh. We ordered fish and chips and sat back and waited. We noticed everyone else was Teignbridge there food before us, but jus5 thought the kitchen was busy. 45 minutes later and still no food, we asked the waitress what has happened as we need to catch the boat, She said maybe our order was lost and we can have a takeaway 🤷‍♀️ Very confusing comment, and very disappointing as it was what we were looking forward to. I can’t rate the food, as we didn’t get any and had to leave. I know things happened but you would of thought the waitress would check with the kitchen.? Sadly we won’t be returning to that restaurant.

We Always used this Restaurant every time we visited Brixham as a family , we were always pleased , as the weather was poor this visit we decided to take away as my 83 year old mother did not come out with us that day , we ordered the jumbo cod , a veggi Burger and 4 portions of chips , the Bill came to £32 we wasn’t concerned as we was aware of the usual quality and service ! Wow what a DISSAPOINTMENT !!!when I ordered the jumbo cod I asked was it enough for two as mum and I was sharing , the girl said yes , you get two pieces I was shocked at the size of the fish (only one piece)and the portions of chip sizes were so Dissapointed that I emailed the company and awaited a reply ! Alas my email was ignored , so after 3 days, before we went home I called in and spoke to a manager , he said that I had been given a small cod by mistake and I told him that the portions of chips were less than average ! (Photographs included) I explained that we were all left feeling hungry and disappointed , let alone left feeling ripped off of £32! He took my name and promised me that he would encourage his manager to chase my email up and offer me some compensation for this disastrous meal! I’ve been home a week or more now and there has been no communication ! You spoiled a family fish supper we will no longer be using or recommending your establishment as we have done in the past !! This is how you treat your loyal customers! A really poor show on your Behalf ! What ever happened to treating customers with respect !! Avoid this establishment you will leave hungry !!! There are plenty of other equally good fish and chip shops locally in the harbour , your company has got too big for its boots !!

Great for a casual meal, food delicious and staff very helpful . Very relaxing, no pressure to free up table, even though it was quite busy.

Ordered a takeaway yesterday 16/6/24, 3pm. There were 3 of us ordering at the time, all of us had an item incorrect from what we ordered. The fish was presented more like a pasty with fish in the middle. Never had batter like that before. The chips, we asked for salt and vinegar, the chips were inedible I ate 3 and binned them. They were so salty, more salt than chips. We won't be returning.

Food tasteless, dry and expensive. £6.50 for about 30 chips and 2 x sml sausages, horrendous. Chips were cold, dry and tasteless, avoid at all cost and will never return! Used to be good, not anymore.

Nice fish & chips, but tiny portions, & vastly overpriced! Would recommend going to Brixham Fish instead,…large portions, & reasonably priced! 👌

I've eaten there several times and I've always recommended it, but yesterday I was served mussels that were heated for the second time in the microwave and they were the worst mussels in my life. I live in Torbay and I definitely won't eat there again. Good luck.

This was the worst chip shop I have ever been to. Few items we ordered weren't even put in the bag. Chips and fish was really dry and taseless and the burger looked like dog meat and had a grey colour to it. Very expensive too. Been to worse looking places that the food tasted much better. AVOID.

Delicious meaty fish, crispy batter. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice to have a cheeky glass of wine with it! Deffo worth the money!

Many thanks to Saskia and team for serving up an absolutely incredible lunch. The resturant were very accommodating and were able to accommodate our large group. Very very good food at a reasonable price. Seafood platter was a little pricey for the amount of food that was given but everything was freshly cooked so I cant complain too much. If you are looking for a place to eat in Brixham this is the place. Dont look anywhere else trust me.

Popped in for a quick fish n chip lunch with the family, was not disappointed, good food, good service, and very reasonably priced. Kimberley our server was awesome, very friendly and helpful.

It's a posh fish and chip shop that goes above and beyond to stand out from the Brixham crowd. Cod & chips (double cooked) plus Minted mushy peas served with a heavily capered tartare sauce, glass of wine (good selection available) was cooked to order and good. Service was good and lots of inside seating available. You could really push the boat out here with a fried seafood platter and accompanied sauces, but Simply Fish is the way I wanted my food that day.

Great food in a comfortable, casual dining restaurant. Service excellent. And well priced. Do try the specials board...the skate and calamari were exceptional. Chips really tasty and salad refreshing. Only tiny issue was the music. Could have done without it.

Fabulous friendly staff and a good selection of food. We tried local Devon wine Lyme Bay Shoreline - it was fantastic and complemented our dinner perfectly. The oysters and scallops were juicy and we followed with roasted cod in a cream sauce with mussels and more scallops! Couldn't manage a dessert as we were too full. Nice views of the harbour and a good place to watch the world go by.

Good food in a busy fish and chip takeaway/restraunt, attentive service and not silly expensive

We chose Simply Fish for a family holiday meal out specifically for the shellfish platter. It didn't disappoint! It was absolutely delicious. If we had to be critical the king prawns were slightly over flavoured with garlic. We also had cod and chips which were a good size portion and very tasty. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Plenty to chose from, broad menu including catch of the day. Would definitely return. Highly recommend.

Nice spot and decor with friendly service. The food lets them down a little. Would’ve liked a seafood platter or prawns as a main but didn’t have the option. Had the scampi which wasn’t great. The kids burgers are a patty on a dry bun - could use some love - lettuce, tomato, some burger sauce, would make it a good meal. Perhaps I should’ve ordered a fillet of fish, probably would’ve been a better choice. Nice cold pint of lager. Very limited vegetarian options.

Wow what an amazing restaurant and takeaway this place is. The restaurant is very well themed with a modern and contemporary atmosphere. The place is kept very clean, the staff were very friendly and the service was very quick in my opinion. The food was also freshly done and very tasty. Definitely be visiting again next time I go to Brixham, keep up the good work guy's.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. We’re in brixham a lot throughout the year. Have used the takeaway a few times with minimal issues so decided to finally eat in tonight. What a shame, we were told on entry “thank goodness you didn’t bring your dog as I was about to give your table away”. We were asked 3 times in the space of 10 minutes if we were ready to order food & I personally felt rushed. When food came, my husband fish & chips had so few chips it was laughable, he ended up stealing from mine & my daughters plates. Both mine & husbands fish was soggy. The buns were sweet and did not work with the fish & the tartar sauce was peculiar and not nice. The best thing was the chips & curry sauce. Extremely disappointing & we did inform the waitress of this who was apologetic. Unfortunately we will NOT be back nor recommending to family who are also down here most weeks of the year.

Popped in on the off chance this week. Few places to choose from next to each other but the outside decor impressed us. Have to say it got even better when the food came out, fish chips and curry sauce probably the best we've ever had while out and about and I'd like to think that owning 4 of my own fish shops I know what I am talking about. Was pleased they also serve local lager and cider, will be back.

Excellent, as always. The waitress was really sweet. We arrived with minutes to spare to the kitchen closing having been let down by another restaurant and she got us quickly sat down and our order taken. The food was delicious ☺️

Best cod I've ever had in my life

Had one of the best bits of cod here in years. Cooked to perfection and well priced. Well done to all the staff.

Clean fresh fish. If you do not live near the coast or even closer to a fishing town like Brixham. This is a 1st stop meal out. It takes care of its products and service, unlike close by competitors. Fine fish dinning, thought through.

Amazing food, great atmosphere & service

We visited Brixham last weekend (Sat) as there was supposed to be a fish fest. We didn't noticed anything extraordinary on the harbour just the usual buzz of people enjoying the sunshine and being able to still sit outside. We decided on Simply Fish restaurant as we have eaten here numerous times when we lived in Brixham. Still great fresh cod & chips. Cooked to perfection. We had the smaller portion as it was lunch time and certainly sufficient for us with the large portion of mushy peas. Value for money. And all washed down with a Chilled beer what more do you want. There is a discretionary service charge in your bill that we were more than happy to pay as we would have definitely left a tip..

Ordered online took them one hour to ring me to tell me food could not be ordered after they had taken the payment. Very disappointed.

Not the best fish and chips. Fish was mushy inside and batter greasy. Expensive too, around £12 for my lunch alone. However, the curry sauce was probably the best I’ve ever had - hence my three stars! Apart from that, nothing special. And nothing compared to Hanbury’s in Babbacombe.

Portion size isn't huge but can't fault the quality. Definitely recommend if quality over quantity is for you.

Pretty expensive for what it is. It wasn't busy and we got seated quickly. The restaurant itself is clean and well-appointed. We then waited a fair while for someone to take our order. The food came and it was nice but nothing special. Once we'd eaten the waitress asked if we wanted anything else. We said no just the bill please. She said she would bring it but then kept us waiting for ages and in the end we just went up and paid at the bar. It's a laugh that they add a "discretionary service charge" onto the bill automatically. The service wasn't good so adding to an already overpriced meal is just another good reason not to go back.

I had Fish and Chips which was OK but not outstanding. They only serve fish; meat eaters are not catered for.

We are from Seattle WA, in town visiting my family. All the food we have had from here is amazing. My wife loves shellfish and according to her "These are the best mussels she's ever had"... so we've had 3 orders this visit.

BEWARE, some prices in the pics above are very out of date, add at least £5-£7 per dish & check before sitting down!! Plate of Cod & chips was about £18!! Food was quite good, served nice & hot, cod a little tough & dry, took a while for staff to serve us even though the place wasn’t that busy, had to wave to get served drinks. No great value for money & as such doubt we’ll be back.

Busy Brixham day so very pleased when all 8 family members got in at lunchtime! Fish and chips all round were fantastic - staff very welcoming and attentive and service was very quick - restaurant very clean and bright, as were the toilets!! All-in-all a 10/10 visit - highly recommended

Very nice place. Location is amazing by the Harbor but with limited view. Food was really tasty, delicious and well presented. Fresh fish and fresh mussels. Prices are reasonable, taking in account the quantities, freshness and the location. Staff are amazing and they are really nice and professional. We spent couple of hours and we really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

Can not fault this restaurant at all. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Over the week we’ve eaten at a few restaurants in Brixham but simply fish was by far our favorite. Highly recommend visiting if you are ever in Brixham.

Ate here and instantly turned peacatarian. The love they show a large cod and chips. Jesus would come here to get the fishes for 5000.

Quality cod and chips, say no more

Not the cheapest by any means, but worth every penny. The staff were very nice, and it was a clean and speedy service. Thumbs up!

Very expensive menu compared to other local eateries. Thought it meant the quality of food and service would be reflected highly, it was not. Smaller than average portions of food and wait staff were inattentive and we waited 20mins to have the order taken, even though customers in restaurant were few. Food was average and not special compared to local fish restaurants whose prices are more pocket friendly. All in all you can get the same meal within a 2min walk but save money. Choice is yours. The atmosphere was one of staff were stressed or disinterested
