Lovely inside with various divided areas (main restaurant / snug / bar area). Arrived and asked for a dog friendly table which we were quickly shown too. It was very quiet and we were the only ones in that particular area, but it was early on a weekday. The menu, specials and wine list were put on the table with no accompanying conversation or recommendations - so we asked for more detail. This was given and the waiter was knowledgable. The food was well presented and tasty. The staff were pleasant and friendly. We would return again.

Unfortunately, I think we must have gone on an off day. Shame as it was Mother's Day, and I was hoping it would be a nice treat for my mum. Roast lamb was tasteless. We had a lovely meal and it is always interesting with lovely options on the menu. The service is so fantastic every time - a real credit to the staff. My only negative feedback is our dish was only just warm and I think the plate should be hot and a meal should come up hot to start with. Normally I would send it back but we ordered the fantastic venison wellington and I didn’t want to wait another 30 mins for this particular course

Had lunch at the oarsman today the dining area is nice the staff were very good but the food did not impress at all started with the fish soup which was nice but my main the pork chop was awful very fatty not helped being slightly undercooked and incredibly oversalted I left almost all of it My wife had the cod which she said was OK but also oversalted The waitress asked if enjoyed it so i explained that I did not she stated that she would pass on my remarks to the management but no one approached us so we paid and left never to return

The Oarsman never fails to impress! From the moment we arrived, the serving staff made us feel completely at home with their warm, bubbly personalities and exceptional knowledge of the menu and gins. Their passion for great food and drink truly shines through, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The trout was simply out of this world—cooked to perfection with incredible flavors that left us wanting more. To round off our meal, we enjoyed an expertly crafted espresso martini by the fireside, the perfect indulgent finish to a flawless afternoon. The Oarsman is a true gem, and we can’t wait to return. We had lunch on cold dull Saturday and it was lovely to stop into a warm place. For Saturday lunch it was not busy but we had booed online before. We had the plate of starters for 3 trying to keep it light as we all had seen the deserts. As one of our party had ordered the steak pudding which takes an extra 25 minutes we took our time. The starter for three was perfect along with the house red very mellow. The favourite main was the cod but all the dishes were delightful and nicely presented. Probably star of the meal was ginger pudding and ice cream definitely save room for this. Great lunch throughly enjoyed and definitely recommend.

Restaurant is great but I don't like the practice of including gratuity in the bill, especially so when it's >10% (this place does 12). It's a nice place for sure, just wish people would include the gratuity on the menu prices instead (more transparent/honest) of on the bill at the end.

I am afraid that this experience was extremely poor value for money and the service was not great either. When I got the menu I thought it was the specials - it really was lacking in choice. In addition the price was very high given the quality & quantity of both the starters and mains course - and £6.50 extra for a side dish of vegetables!!?...again no choice and it was not a selection merely a bowl of cabbage! This restaurant is 'mutton dressed up as lamb' and none of the 6 of us attending will be inclined to visit again.

Visited for a family meal for Sunday lunch. Menu was limited and frankly the food was poor. Tough meat with gristle, poor knives that couldn’t cut the meat, a chef that’s trying too hard to be different, gravy served in handle pots that are too hot to pick up and pretty pricey. Frankly I’ve had better frozen roast dinners.

"The restaurant and pub area are lovely and so were the staff. However both mine and my husband’s Sunday roast meats were full of fibers making it quite chewy and not very tasteful. Did also think were a bit expensive at £27 even for Marlow. Desert was the star of the day and the ginger loaf was to die for. I would recommend the restaurant but maybe not for a Sunday roast, i have had better ones before."

A belated and very enjoyable Fathers Day lunch at the Oarsman in Marlow. Situated in the town centre, parking is tricky at busy times, but we used nearby supermarket car park for a charge. Chosen partly because dogs are allowed for reservations in the bar area. We were served by a very helpful, courteous young man who helped with orders and added to our overall experience by making helpful suggestions. Everybody enjoyed the food, some floored by the size of the pork chop after a number of small dish starters. One quibble was a bit disappointed at the number of 0% drinks, Thatchers Zero Cider would have been nice. Clean toilets up the stairs but disabled available downstairs.

Four of us went for dinner. Overall - this is an exceptional pub who are strongest in their food and senior service. We were comparing them to the wonderful Feathered Nest near Burford. You should go. Strengths: - Food with a strong point of view. The chicken and ginger pudding stand out - they sound boring but neither were, which takes admirable strength of character and technique. - Service by the more senior staff is equally impressive and timely. Feedback: - There is an unreconciled note on the front page of the wine list about a direct board - this was not found and remains a mystery

A visit for Mother's Day with entourage of children and grandchildren involved both a full menu for adults and less extensive one for the small ones! Portions were not excessive (good thing) and well cooked. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. While the attentive service deserves praise, our recent birthday celebration at the Oarsman was impacted by the food. Three guests who ordered the steak found the accompanying sauce to have an unusual, somewhat burnt taste, which off-set the steak. Similarly, the burrata starter chosen by two guests lacked the expected vibrancy of flavour. While these represent just two dishes from the menu, it's worth noting that no other guests at our table offered positive comments about the overall taste of their meals. To add, the set menu offered limited vegan options so they allowed us to dine a la carte.

We had a meal here in Jan 2023 and it was superb. Returned back this January and ordered the same cod dish - it was 1/2 size and increased in price, not good quality fish neither. The side of cannellini beans was not cooked properly as most of the beans were still crunchy. The fish and chips dish had fish the size of a large fishfinger, £21. Pork belly was mostly fat and not rendered at all, we were offered another dish instead but wanted to eat together and not wait so they said they’d take it off the bill. However, only 1/2 of the original dish price was taken off as some of the vegetables and edible meat were eaten. We left feeling insulted, it was supposed to be a special evening and it was anything but.

This place has gone downhill, we ate here 12months ago and it was amazing, this time portions have shrunk and prices inflated but the worst bit was the food was not cooked well, white beans accompanying the cod dish were crunchy, fish itself mediocre (£29), no potatoes came with the dish. Fish and chips tiny, size of a large fish finger. Pork belly mostly white (and not rendered at all!) fat, the rest of that dish bland and not seasoned. Because of the poor quality we were told the pork would be taken off the bill but in the end only £13 of the original £26 was taken off (as the person had some of the veg/edible meat from the plate). It was supposed to be a special meal and it ended up being memorable but for the wrong reasons. Left feeling insulted, won’t be back.

I really didn't want to give a negative review so emailed The Oarsman direct to make my comments known. I did get a reply. However, it was generic, unsympathetic and made me feel as if I were in the wrong. We popped in there for lunch during the week, it was late, so quite empty. I had the fish soup, which was pleasant and my husband ordered the mussels as a main course. I have never seen so few mussels in a pie dish, not even as a starter. The meal was padded out with fancy (not very nice) butter and some toasted bread. In our experience mussels normally come in a saucepan where the lid acts as a shell depot and there's a finger bowl. No such thing, and expensive. And to cap it all, we ordered two glasses of wine, one of which cost £22 for the Maison Saint Aix - a whole bottle only retails at around £15 - not quite sure why we ordered it, it was a rip off. So to sum up our lunch, the service was average, the food average, ambience average and the cost far too expensive for what it was. We're nevery going back.

I had a disappointing and unfriendly experience at this restaurant. My friend and I both ordered medium-rare Bavette steaks. However, when they were served, we immediately noticed a clear difference in color and doneness between the two steaks. I approached one of the staff members and explained that my steak, which I ordered medium-rare, was clearly undercooked and closer to rare, especially compared to my friend’s, which was properly cooked to medium-rare. Instead of addressing the issue politely, the staff member responded by asking, “Is this your first Bavette steak?” — a comment that felt patronizing and made me feel as if I didn’t know anything about steak. The steak was taken back to the kitchen to be recooked, but unfortunately, the situation only worsened. Part of the steak came back overcooked, while another part remained undercooked. It had clearly been quickly seared on too high a temperature, rather than simply further cooked. I raised my concern again, and I believe the manager came over. Rather than trying to de-escalate the situation, she chose to defend the kitchen by stating that all Bavette steaks are cooked to the same temperature. However, it was clear from the appearance and taste that the two steaks were cooked very differently. Overall, I did not feel comfortable being questioned about my experience with steak, and I was disappointed that the staff focused more on defending themselves than on resolving the issue professionally. I feel that this experience was not typical of the one which they wish to give.

I can only confirm Green Delight Bakery is an absolute gem in the heart of Wooburn Green! I can't really understand where the complaints are coming from. My son regularly asks me to stop by for a full English breakfast/brunch after his Sunday matches and every bite is always fresh and delicious. I generally go for the eggs Benedict, the poached eggs are cooked to perfection—silky yolks that melt in my mouth. The ingredients are clearly top-quality, and the service is warm and welcoming. A must-visit spot! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This place has really gone downhill. Staff at the bar are young and inexperienced. They actually look miserable or unhappy whilst serving customers. The night we went (Saturday), we were told that there were no Stardust beers on due to a delivery issue….This meant we were reduced to a choice of basically one beer given we didn’t want to drink lager or stout, all were from the Marlow brewery. I can forgive the delivery issue, but they made no attempt to remove the out of stock beers from the menu online and inside the venue. This meant we had to listen to the awkward explanation every time someone came to the bar to order. Staff looked tired having to explain it. A DJ was setting up in the corner and we walked past later on to see loads of teenagers in there dancing to drum n bass. This is currently a confused business , with the name and decor conflicting with the reality. I would describe this as a chicken shop with a bar attached.
