Poor service and food. Used to come regularly ish (once a month) over the last few years and always enjoyed our time, great service and consistently solid food. We have had a couple of very average experiences recently, but we still thought to give it another go. I’m afraid no more. Made to feel uncomfortable on arrival, below average food, Oil needed to be changed in the fryer, list goes on….. Real shame as we have good memories of The Oak, hope someone gets hold of it and puts some love back into it.

We stayed for one night whilst visiting family in Northiam. The Oak itself is a cosy pub with our host being extremely friendly and helpful. Large outside seating area and dog friendly makes it a bonus. We played pool and games with our kida in thw backroom which they loved. We had an amazing breakfast in the morning and would highly recommend staying.

We booked for Sunday lunch on the basis of previous good reviews. The service was very good but we certainly didn't feel that it was 'the best Sunday lunch ever'. A bit of a disappointment.

Bit disappointing. Welcome and service very friendly and good. No draught beer temporarily (disaster!). Food was 'pub grub'. Was good for most of us though one meal (vegan brie Wellington) was disappointing and a children's meal which we had checked before booking wasn't available. Worth a visit but not the best pub I've been to.

Great Sunday roast, we had the honey roast ham and beef brisket, with a side of cauliflower cheese. Beef melted and the ham was cooked perfectly. Dog friendly, has a great outdoor area although it was a little bit cold to sit outside today.

Decided to head out of Rye to find somewhere for lunch. We saw The Oak and were a bit concerned as it did not look very busy, but it was a lovely day and there was seating outside, so we headed in. We were greeted by a very polite gentleman who gave us the menus. We ordered drinks, plus we both went for the Belly Pork, followed by chocolate brownie and coffee. Well, the meal and the service were exceptional! Thoroughly recommended! Today, however, we went again, but this time were disappointed because no food is served on Monday or Tuesday... We had a drink and then left...

Booked for a Sunday Lunch with 3 dogs. We had a very friendly wellcome and the service was excellent. Food was really good and very tasty. The amount of beef and pork served with the roasts was very generous and even after we were full up we still had a little bit left to give the dog's for dinner later. Would definitely recommend The Oak if you are looking for good food and a warm welcome if you are in the area.
