As the Old Oak is under new management and myself and partner were both home for a change, we thought it would be nice to pop in for lunch in our dinner break. Only being 5 minutes away we thought we would easily have time. We ordered a burger and a soup at 12:40 and by 13:20 there was still no sign of it - as I had to be back at work in 10 minutes we had to ask for a refund. We were told it was due out in 5 minutes but we simply had no time left. 45 minutes wait in a pub with only 2 other tables being served is unacceptable. A real shame as we were keen to support a local business and would have looked forward to going more often. As it is we won't bother again and it looks like the same story as with all the previous owners. Gave one star as the person behind the bar was polite and friendly and gave the refund with no issues.

Heard it’s under new management so thought we would give it a try. All the food that we had was actually really tasty but the service let the experience down. Nobody really seemed to know what they were doing and I had to ask for cutlery 3 times. Could be teething problems but staff could do with some training

Local, not been for few weeks. Thought would try again as now under new management.ordered scampi for 2 of us. Very dissapointed. Chips were awful burnt crispy .Scampi ok but bit overcooked. Service slow.No atmosphere. No idea who was running the pub. Would have been nice for someone to have said hello. Wont go again. So sad

Booked Sunday Lunch here this weekend - our first visit. When we arrived, we were initially ignored by the two girls chatting behind the bar. We interrupted them, one of them left, and we told the other young girl we had a booking, and were told to wait a moment. She vanished and finally returned several minutes later and said we could sit anywhere. We then enquired if it was bar or table service, and were informed that we could sit in the restaurant part if we wanted table service. We found an empty table and sat down. There were only about a quarter of the tables occupied. We then sat for 15 minutes, but no staff came, no drinks orders were taken, nor was it possible to attract anyone's attention as we were ignored. It did give us time to note that the decor is somewhat tired and shabby. At that point we gave up and started to leave. As we passed the bar, the girl finally asked if she could help. We told her that if they wanted custom, perhaps they should look after their customers and left. We moved on to the the Black Bull at Old Langho and had an excellent meal with very good customer service. I would not recommend the Oak to anyone.

Visited on the 25th feb for the carabao cup final, we had food which was brought out within 25mins by the chef himself, who was pleasant & attentive and full of energy! Drinks were a little pricey but the delicious food disregarded that. I will definitely recommend to friends and family, this was not the last time i will visit the oak.

We ordered 2 steaks, they were cooked perfect! exactly how we asked for them to be cooked. The lovely chef brung the food out very quickly and he made sure our stay was pleasant! The desserts were amazing and tasty! couldn’t have asked for a more brilliant service from The Oak. Pleased to say we will be making a return very soon.

6 of us popped in today for lunch. 5 of us ordered off the Sunday menu and the oak let one of us order from the regular menu (which was appreciated) I had the beef Sunday roast and it was very nice - decent amount of well cooked beef, tasty gravy and nice accompanying potatoes, parsnip, veg and Yorkshire pudding. Would def visit for Sunday lunch again

The prerequisite was somewhere comfy, clean with tasty food and a nice atmosphere. The expectations were exceeded. The service was fabulous, the pub was absolutely spotlessly clean, the food was very fresh and the menu wasn't huge, which always puts me off. I ordered a simple meal as I have low expectations of places I haven't tried, and it was the best chicken burger ever! My companion had lasagne snd she said it was delicious. It came with garlic bread which was the nicest garlic bread ever! So totally recommend this place and we will visit again.

I had gammon, eggs, chips peas & I paid extra for Stilton sauce, absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, huge portion I couldn’t finish the gammon, I’ve worked in restaurants & im the worst critic but I could not fault my choice in anyway! Son opted for the beer battered fish, cleared the plate. Everywhere was spick & span, service excellent we will return. Big thanks, very happy customers 😊

We had an amazing experience at the Oak this evening. The food was incredible, all fresh and we could definitely tell! The staff were all so welcoming and helpful, 10/10 recommend. Definitely visiting again

I hate writing bad reviews, but if you have worked all week and are wanting a treat on a weekend eating out somewhere then let this NOT be the place you go. Save yourself the stress and hard earned cash and make yourself a jam butty which im certain you will enjoy much more than this slop that was served up to me on Saturday. I will say no more ( believe me when I say I could) other than that at least the young girl serving behind the bar knocked the cost of my meal off the bill.

My family, friends and myself have been visiting the Oak for lunch on many occasions over the past 10 months and I can honestly say we have been delighted with the food and the staff customer service. I can highly recommend the Oak.

I recently visited this pub for a Cup of Tea to warm up on a cold day. I was greeted by the Bubbly, Warm and Welcoming barmaid who mentioned that the pub was serving breakfast. Before I knew it I had been persuaded to purchase the pubs ‘signature’ breakfast. I was not disappointed. 3 sausage, 3 bacon, all the usual trimmings and they even swapped my black pudding for another hash brown. The place was clean and comfortable with a good atmosphere. Highly recommend 😊

Nice to see our local buzzing last night for the Christmas switch-on with Brindle Band. Went back today for a Christmas Fare lunch with friends - excellent.

OK but nothing puts me off my fish and chips more than having it seved up on a dirty old piece of wood. Sorry - But I want a plate

It’s been my local for the last 14 years. Can’t beat the food and beer choice. Would definitely recommend 10/10. Dog friendly

Great food and service, we enjoy watching the football here and there are two sections, one for drinks and one for dining.
