A great place to drop into for a drink and/or a snack. Friendly staff served us. There's seating outside (when the weather's good) but the seating inside is more homely. The aroma from the deli is delicious. Oh, before I forget, the freshly-made coffee and green tea were very good.

Stopped in here for a spot of lunch and a coffee with my sister-in-law on her birthday. We couldn't get a seat inside as it is a very small café. But I have to say the lunch was worth sitting outside in the freezing wind for! I had a toasted sandwich of ham, Emmental, pickles and mustard on sour dough - it was so tasty. And the coffee . . . oh, the coffee! I must say, hand on heart, it was THE BEST latte I have ever had! Truly. I've been back for coffee since. HEAVEN!

Love this little cafe! It has so many tempting, delicious lunch choices, many of which are vegetarian and vegan and not your usual run of the mill sandwiches . We particularly enjoy the delicious filo quiches, the butter bean stew, the lentil dahl soup and most recently the curried cauliflower and chickpea toasties. It can get busy but it is worth waiting , or having a wander in the town and coming back.

This is a great if rather petite cafe down the alley by Waitrose. We have been going for years and it is generally busy so it can be difficult to get a seat. However the coffee is excellent and the sausage rolls, platters, quiches and cakes have all been consumed with gusto! Recently we have taken to the cinnamon buns! My wife is not a cinnamon fan but these are exceptional ! Rock on Nutmeg!

Stopped off at Tenterden on our way home from Hastings. Tucked halfway down the main high Street is Sayers Lane which leads to The Nutmeg Deli. Seating inside and out. This little gem of a deli come coffee shop really packs a punch. Limited time was spent here due to it being late afternoon, so we settled for tea and cake. We selected the carrot cake (sadly very dry and crumbly), however the angel lemon cake was to die for. It was out of this world. Light and fluffy cake with a real kick of lemon mousse in the middle with a crispy meringue topping. A wonderful combination . The staff were so lovely and made us feel very welcome and answered all our questions. A great place to stop if you are ever this way.

I have visited The Nutmeg a couple of times recently. It may be small, but it makes up for it’s lack of size in its quality of food and drinks! The counter is well stocked with homemade cakes, delicious sausage rolls, sweet pastries and savoury tarts. A few weeks ago we bought some items for take away, but this time we sat in as the table inside in the corner was available, yay! I really enjoyed the banana bread with cinnamon butter and the hot chocolate is divine, so sweet and creamy. I also love the apricot and rose macaroons; we bought the remaining ones to take home with us. The staff are very friendly and welcoming which is an added bonus! I highly recommend The Nutmeg as a great place to visit for coffee and snacks when in Tenterden!

We walked in and were thrilled to discover that this delightful little deli does a vegan range! They were very accommodating and happy to adapt any sandwich/dish to suit our needs. Great range of cakes (including gluten free and vegan) and lunch options (again including gluten free and vegan, plus choice of fresh breads/gf bread from local bakery). They offer a wide choice of food to purchase as well- cheese, chocolate and lots of delicious deli bits. Husband said the coffee was excellent! Good smoothies too. Limited seating inside, some tables outside, not really kid friendly unless you have a mini gourmand like ours (ie will eat anything!), no high chairs but they did produce a Bumbo baby seat which was very kind. Overall the service here was fantastic and the food a perfect example of deli x coffee shop. Wish we lived closer so we could come more often!

One of the best flat whites I've had. I run a deli and get to choose the coffee we serve, but this was as good! I also tried my son's hot chocolate and that too was fantastic, not the usual sweet, sickly Cadbury style chocolate that most places seem to serve.Would loved to have sat down in the interesting and quirky cafe area, as it seemed to have a really friendly and relaxed feel, but we had a tired 5yr old, so we had take-away.The sandwich options looked really good aswell, but we had just eaten, otherwise we would have tried these too.Why go to the 'chains' when for the same money you can get an expertly crafted speciality coffee for the same price!

This is a tiny cafe and you may struggle to get a seat at busy times but it is worth it. The coffee is smooth and the food is lovely, always freshly prepared. It’s the perfect stop off on the way to or from Waitrose. The sandwiches are large, filling and tasty. The tinned tuna is worth buying as it’s some of the best we have tried. The bread comes from Judges bakery and is great. Check out the deli counter too as the cheeses and other food items are always top notch.

Sayers Lane is littered with great little independent cafes but we were thrilled to find this one. To say that we were happy to discover that they use Monmouth coffee is an understatement. We spent an inordinate amount of time catching up on our favourite London coffee. Added to that they do gluten free cakes and sandwiches. I recommend the gluten free open sandwich with roast chicken, pesto and lettuce. Their rose and pistachio gf cake was also divine. This place is worth a visit all on its own, that it is perfectly placed near parking, Waitrose and other shopping just off the beautiful High Street makes it a must visit. The Nutmeg is by FAR my favourite coffee shop. The only complaint I have is that I can no longer bear coffee from anywhere else! I always have a skinny flat white and Mum has a cappuccino. I love the decor and atmosphere, it is so cosily rustic & inviting. After my first few visits, two of the lovely baristas started to recognise me and now know my order by heart! I've had lunch here a couple of times and the sandwiches are delicious- quality ingredients and beautifully thick granary bread. I haven't tried the soups or stew yet- but they're next on my list. There seems to be quite a crowd of regulars who frequent the Nutmeg, I often see familiar faces and most customers are happy to share tables if there is limited space. When shopping in town I no longer have to make a decision where to have coffee- me and Mum always make a beeline for the Nutmeg. I love the fact it's not a big impersonal chain and the coffee is INCREDIBLE, such full flavour, smooth and delicious.

The Nutmeg say they do the best coffee in Kent. Sounds like a boast but if anything they're under selling themselves. There are plenty of expensive coffee houses in London that aren't half as good. It's also a big bonus that their cakes and lunches are excellent, plus the service is always friendly. The Nutmeg is a reason to go to Tenterden and should not be missed. Only downside is the size - it's tiny so getting a seat at lunchtime on a weekend can be tough. Sometimes you have to share a table, but that's just a good opportunity to meet someone new.

Having been recommended to eat here by another shopkeeper I was looking forward to lunch but it turned out to be really disappointing. We ordered a latte and americano coffees, and tuna & mayo, Italian ham + sun dried toms + leafs sandwiches. When the waitress brought the order to the next door table his order had been mixed up with ours so we got the americano but had to wait a while for my wife's latte by which time I'd finished mine. After our coffee we decided that we would get a soft drink to have with our food so my wife went into the cafe to purchase. We decided to share a can but they only had one glass available at the time. When the waitress brought our food she said she would bring us another glass but she forgot so I had to go and ask for it. We had waited quite a while for our food which when it came was so disappointing. No garnish or crisps that you might expect when eating in a cafe, also it looked to be ready sliced boring shop bread and further more no sundried toms in my sandwich as described as they use a paste!!!I cannot recall ever having such poor service or disappointing food from a small independent cafe! I have been visiting The Nutmeg Deli for several years now, always a flying visit on my lunch break and will continue to do so for a very long time. Not only is the food delicious, the coffee is perfection and the prices are fair, the staff are the sweetest, friendliest bunch of people who make me feel like a valued and appreciated customer every single time I pop in. I am currently pregnant and would not hesitate to take my baby in with me when he makes his arrival, I know he will be just as welcome as I am. In fact I am looking forward to the day I can actually sit down and soak up the atmosphere over lunch, instead of rushing straight back to work! I regularly visit Nutmeg for sandwiches to take back to my office in Bethersden. It's not the closest sandwich shop but so worth the drive. The food is great and always prepared with care and the portions are very generous. The one time I've had a coffee here it was hands down the best coffee I have ever had, The main reason I come here though is the lovely staff, they are so sweet and friendly and all take the time to make you feel like an individual and not just 'another customer'. I am 7 months pregnant at the moment and the team all show a genuine interest in mine and baby's progress and will always take a minute to ask me how I'm doing. When I leave my job to go on maternity leave I will still make the journey from my home in Rye for a coffee and sandwich now and then as I don't think I could go more than a few weeks without my Nutmeg fix! I would have no qualms in bringing my baby along either as I know they will be just as accommodating when I have him with me.

We stopped here for a quick lunch the other day with the kids and we were so glad that we did. The food and service was excellent and the coffees were fantastic. We had chicken sandwiches, avocado on toast, millionaires shortbread and sausage rolls and it was all fab!! We'll be back...

Love this place, food and cakes best I've ever tried, service excellent, friendly staff. Coffee is wonderful with beans from Monmouth, excellent quality. First stop when I come to Tenterden, always busy for a reason! The deli section is also great especially the cheeses.

The Nutmeg servers the best coffee in Tenterden bar none. The friendly, knowledgeable staff really understand and know how to make proper coffee, whether that's a flat white, cappuccino. mochaccino with the Monmouth blends. Accept no other, this is the real deal and worth waiting to get a seat or returning to after shopping if it full.

There is a very large choice of places for lunch or a snack in Tenterden and this was the third we encountered after parking in Waitrose's car park. We thoroughly enjoyed our warm quiche and sausage roll followed by delicious cakes. And the coffee was excellent! It is not huge inside but they encourage guests to be sociable and share a table. Our satisfying lunch set us up well for a trawl through the superior charity shops of Tenterden. Recommended!

Consistently great coffee every time and the soya mocha WOW.... Great little coffee shop with excellent deli items. A mix of Locally made and pure taste indulgence. Carefully selected cheeses and meats chosen for quality and flavour the owner clearly knows his stuff.

Visited The Nutmeg twice in the last few months. First time this summer I had a mocha that I claimed was the 'best mocha I had ever tasted" my only disappointment was that I'd ordered a regular not a large! Went back today and was a little worried it wouldn't live up to my memory of it - thankfully had nothing to worry about as it was just as delicious as I'd remembered. My mum said her hot chocolate was lovely as well. Exceptional quality, good reasonable prices. Cafe itself is very cosy inside there's not a lot of space but I think it adds to the charm of the place. Looking forward to our next visit.

We have visited this little cafe twice recently and will definitely be going again. There is a selection of sandwiches made to order, three different types of homemade sausage rolls etc. There is also a wide selection of cheeses to try. We ordered sandwiches on brown bread and delicious coffee, together with a large sausage roll to share Our sandwiches were cheese and homemade apple chutney and Italian ham with sunblushed tomatoes and rocket. All was very tasty. The staff are charming and service was very good. Do seek it out.

Great coffee and cakes for us but on a Friday afternoon I was surprised when two separate customers were unable to get sandwiches due to them having run out of bread - with Waitrose 20 yards away and even a farmer's market stall 50 yards away!

This is a very small café which is a cut above your average sandwich shop. The choices of filling were all unusual, tasty and served with care. I asked for the salad option and was offered dressings to accompany it. There's more seating outside in a pedestrian walkway off the main street. Worth a try.

We enjoyed two visits to Nutmeg as the coffee and the teas are good. Pleasant atmosphere, and popular to judge by numbers of people there whenever you pass the place.

This is right in the heart of town and don't set your heart on trying it out as it will probably be full. But if you want the absolute best choice in freshly prepared sandwiches, savoury and sweet snacks and light lunches as well as superb coffee, then walk down Sayers lane and see if you can get in. The Nutmeg is tiny, intimate, friendly and well worth visiting but not for a large group. Once you've decided what you'll have, you realise you'll have to come back again as the choice is exquisite. Vegetarians will not be disappointed either .

Having been back in the UK on holiday again, after a week staying outside London I'd given up on my chances of getting a decent coffee.Unsurprising, coming to Tenterden for a week to visit family, I was resolved to having to drink the overheated drain water that the likes of Costa or Nero call coffee. How surprised was I to discover that The Nutmeg knew how to make a good coffee. I almost kissed the barista. Such a good coffee. They have so far managed to deliver consistent quality and great customer service for three days now. I can't wait for them to open in the morning so that I can get my fix.Thank you guys. Keep up the good work!

The staff at this cafe are really friendly and their service is great. We had a sandwich each, both made with high quality ingredients and fresh. Tasted great. Coffee was lovely. Only criticism would be that the carrot cake was a tad drier than we would have liked, but we enjoyed our visit.

Went there expecting to get food and decent beer. NO Food. Looks like pub is up for sale with little interest. Beer was OK, but pub noisy due to football. Definitely one to avoid. Went to Eureka for a nice curry instead,

We had a very good meal at The George at Molash; we were welcomed on arrival and shown to our table, the service was very efficient and the waitresses were professional but also friendly. They looked after us superbly. We chose our meals and these took a little time to come out but we were not worried about this as we were chatting and food was cooked freshly to order. Other tables were informed about a wait for some foods as they were cooked freshly to order. This didn’t affect us too much as we ate quite early - table was booked for 6.30pm. The pub was very clean and tidy. The portions were good - for both dinner and we had a dessert. We finished the evening with herbal teas and were shown a selection to choose from. Overall we had a very nice evening at The George, and had good food, service and atmosphere.

One of the very best Sunday lunches I have experienced. Served piping hot and with a smile from our server. Beef was generous and left pink in the middle, great Yorkshires crisp on the out side but soft and tasty in the middle. Fantastic choice of vegetables roasted parsnips, red cabbage, cauliflower in white sauce and a side bowl of cabbage, broccoli and green beans. Roast potatoes were perfect for us crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Thick, tasty gravy and lots of it. Just a great and memorable lunch. Good selection of wine by the glass and beers. Staff are all smiles, efficient and charming. Instead of the beef my wife tried the vegetarian option and declared great alternative!

Previously visited the Tearooms when they were located outside the front of Perry Court. The food was excellent and cheese, chutney sandwiches were huge and fresh. Has to be said for the new cafe the staff are great - however the new sandwiches are appalling. Cheap supermarket, sliced bread and a smattering of grated cheese for ££. Phenomenally expensive. A huge disappointment and wouldn't return.
